Wow what a brilliant story! This book sucked me in and I was completely immersed. Aria has been taught to become a spy for her country, and grew up in Military Training Academy for unwanted children. She spent her life becoming the best, an Elite agent….but she finds it’s all based on a lie. This story has action, secrets, lies, and many twists and turns and I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it!
“They will not break me; they will fear me.”
Wow! Once I started reading, I didn’t want to stop! This one had me captivated from page one!!
The Academy. An elite school for children. Children that were plucked from abusive homes, or other dark situations, and given a roof over their heads, warm food for their bellies……. and tactical training that will eventually turn them in to deadly weapons.
Aria Richards is their top student. Raised at the Academy, it’s the only life she’s known. She’s excelled at every turn – hand to hand combat, sharp-shooting, survival, and even hacking into the most secure computer systems. She’s worked her hardest to become a member of the Elite Team – the cream of the crop. But, all is not what it seems and there is danger and betrayal around every dark corner. Secrets that will tip her world on its axis. Her life as she’s known it will be destroyed. Now, she’ll destroy the man responsible. Her father.
While this book may be categorized as YA or NA, it would also sit comfortably in the adult fiction/suspense category. I loved it and can’t wait to read the rest of the series. This is book 1, so expect there to be questions unanswered and loose ends. But, it will just leave you hungry for the next book! I’d highly recommend this to anyone from pre-teens to adults!
Wow, this story had me hooked all the way through. Aria is so very strong in almost every way. She didn’t come to the Academy the same way as the other kids, so her torment is all present day by the hands of someone close. But she still believes, until the day she learns a secret and risks all she knows. For a time she is happy and free, but will it last? Definitely check this book out. I can’t wait to start Book 2. Watch out for the assassin scorned!
Operation Child Soldier has action, twists, and love. Being trained to be an agent. Wow! The characters are great, plot is wonderful. It will make you wonder if this could actually happen. I want to see what is going to happen in book 2. A must read.
Brilliant, exciting and witty!
Wow!! I’ve just finished reading this book and that’s the first word that came to mind. What a brilliant story! I honestly didn’t know if I was going to enjoy this book, thinking it may have been too dark for me…..but I was pleasantly surprised that I was wrong.
Jaci Wheeler drops the tiniest of crumb trails which is enough to know something underhanded is going on, while giving no idea as to what. I was so hooked and involved in the wonderful characters that I couldn’t stop turning the pages. I loved Aria’s brilliant mind and wit, the banter between the characters throughout made me chuckle, and the mirror scene was so powerful emotionally, it blew me away. I seriously can’t wait for book two.
