LAKE STARLIGHT BUZZ WHEELPRESS RELEASE: Rumor around town is a certain matriarch of the Bailey family is having a BIG BIRTHDAY! It’s even spurred a few of the Bailey kids to return home to celebrate with their beloved great-grandmother, Dori. In fact, now that there are twenty-six Bailey great-grandchildren the event is going to be overflowing with laughter and love. Also… I heard that Piper … Piper & Rayne have been speaking to some of the kids (i.e. Calista, Maverick, Easton, Brinley and Palmer) and so we’re getting some special POV’s. I can’t wait to report my findings the day after the party!

So when I finished reading Book #9 – I thought that was the end. The Baileys story was over. But then we have Operation Bailer Birthday and its all about GMa D and her great grandkids!!! I praise Piper Rayne for providing who is who when the grandkids point of view was being said. There are too many Baileys to count.
Operation Bailey Birthday has you rolling with laughter! It’s light and sweet with a dash of saucy!!! It’s bitter sweet to end this series, I loved these characters since Austin and Holly’s book. But I am looking forward to Ethel’s clan, the Greenes! I thank Piper Rayne for bringing us love, joy, sadness, and strength! These stories were perfection!!! And Operation Bailey Birthday was no exception!!!
It is official now, this was the last installment of the Bailey Books. And it was absolutely amazing! Probably my favourite one, because we got a lil chapter from all the Bailey Siblings we fell in love with. And their kids are wonderful. Of course, it was a bit confusing at the beginning, cause there happen to be 26 of ’em, but hey, I love them all. There is just no other way!
So, if you love the Baileys as much as i do you absolutely have to get yourself this Book, cause it is the ending, you never knew you needed!
In the future I wanna be like Grandma Dori, cause she is the absolut best!!!
NOW I need Calistas book asap!! I mean.. dang was that mean with all those little infos we got throughout the book. And that on scene.. it definitely got hot there!
I love this series of books about the Bailey family. I really love Grandma Dori and how she plans everything and gets everyone to go along with her. It’s no exception when it comes to her 90th birthday party. I think it’s wonderful that we get to see her 26 great-grandchildren growing up. Who knew at the beginning of this series how invested in this family I’d become and how sad I am that it’s ending. I cried a little at the ending I’m looking forward to the next new series and hopefully will get to see more of the Bailey family. I received an ARC to read early but have my copy ordered. I’m leaving my honest review.
It may Grandma Dori’s 90th birthday, but this book is Piper Rayne’s gift to the fans of The Baileys series. It was the perfect finale to Act I of this series. I refuse to accept it’s the end! Instead, readers catch up with our favorite family in Starlight Lake, AK as they prepare for the big surprise birthday bash. It takes place 15 years after the last story of the Bailey siblings. A lot has happened to the Baileys as their families have grown to 26 grandchildren!! This story is told from the viewpoint of some of these children. Some are adults, some are teenagers and some are preteen age. It’s really cute to hear their viewpoint of all of the events taking place in order to get ready for the big day. It also gives us an opportunity to catch up with our favorite couples and feel the love that has grown along with the individual families. Of course, Grandma Dori is up to her old ways, only this time she’s not matchmaking, but not-so-gently suggesting ideas for her ‘surprise’ party. The end result is so funny! My favorite part of the book was the end and Grandma Dori’s own thoughts on her family as she reminisces on her life. It is so sweet and lovely. I had a lump in my throat reading it, but it was just perfect as I felt it was also her message to the readers that this is not the end of the Bailey saga.
Thank you Piper Rayne for writing such endearing characters that we have grown to love so much. I know we will meet again.
There seems to be a fantastic trend in romance lately (or it’s been around, and I just haven’t noticed) of next-generation novels. Let me be clear–I LOVE THEM. After going through all the ups and downs, heartbreak and healing, and ultimate HEAs of all the Baily siblings, this novella was a delectable taste of what could be an epic spin-off series (*hint hint*)!
Ok, but to get to the point, it’s Grandma Dori’s 90th birthday, and all her great-grandchildren are around with their parents for the event. The first-borns that we met in the series are on-hand—the great-grands range in age from Maverick, who is 25, all the way down to toddlers. Best of all, it is all written from their perspective. And this party is Grandma Dori at her best, getting things done her way. The entire story is as delightful as sunrise in Alaska.
Although we know we are getting ready to get stories surrounding Ethel’s family, I have to say I am still not prepared to leave the Baileys behind. I really need to know what happens with all those great-grandchildren now. It like finding out you have this wonderful extended family–you just have to stay in touch!
What an awesome way to truly end a series!!!Lana~White Hot Reads
Grandma Dori is something else. Always the meddler. It was neat to get to see and hear all the POV’s of the great grandkids as well as their parents. This large family sure has alot of fun. It wouldn’t be a Bailey family function without all the craziness. What a way to truly end this series.
A fun, quick read that brings an end to an era. A fitting tribute to an amazing matriarch.
My goodness, who doesn’t love grandma Dori?! Always with her thumb on the pulse of Lake Starlight, she drops hints to everyone about every aspect of the party she’s not supposed to know about.
We’ve followed one generation as they’ve learned and grown into their own, and now we get to watch the next generation as they learn some of the secrets and start on their own journeys.
A nice ending to a great series, The Baileys. The Bailey family series centered around the nine Bailey kids, each with a different romantic trope. All nine of the Baileys have found their happily ever after, with the help of their Grandma Dori and her sidekick Ethyl. This novella is about 12-13 years since the last book, and the whole Bailey clan are gathering for Grandma Dori’s 90th birthday. This is a nice way to end the Bailey’s stories and a segue to Ethyl’s grandkids stories. I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest opinion.
From the very first page of Operation Bailey Birthday to the very last was a mixture of everything I love about this family.
The closeness of the Bailey siblings is something that begins to form amongst siblings that face tragedy, you can either hold onto each other tighter or let it tear you apart. The Bailey siblings held each other close and loved each other harder with Grandma Dori by their side they had all the support they needed to thrive.
This celebration of grandma Dori’s 90th birthday shows the love and affection this family held close to their heart has been threaded into the lives of the next-generation of Baileys. Isn’t that what we all hope for our kids? To see the love, we have for family and carry that with them wherever they may go.
This book was love, of siblings, of parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends all coming together (with a little coercion from someone) to celebrate a woman that made it her life mission to show them what love is and at times use whatever tactics in her armory so her grandkids would find their happily ever after. It was laughter at Grandma Dori’s antics and the great-grandkids. It was happiness that brought tears to my eyes. It was family, always family.
Love, laughter, witty banter, Grandma Dori’s antics and family this novella is the very essence of what the Bailey family stands for and I am thankful Piper Rayne brought these characters into my life.
Buzzwheel and I are loving all of the Bailey’s back in Lake Starlight for Grandma Dori’s not-so-surprise 90th birthday party. As the Bailey kids (and spouses) come to grips with Dori getting older, the next generation is up for her machinations. Each chapter is told from the great-grand children’s point of view and is a fun glimpse into the Bailey couples we all know and love. I laughed, I sighed and had a tear in my eye and a smile on my face at the end of this celebration. Although we are leaving Lake Starlight, I cannot wait to get to know Sunrise Bay in the future.
A bittersweet ending to one if my favorite book families.
I was so excited to read from the childrens point of view and I was not disappointed but with a heavy heart we have to say goodbye to our beloved characters – for now *wink wink*
Seeing all the children interact with eachother and their parents and obviously fan favorite grandma D was amazing! I loved each and every chapter and had tears in my eyes in the final chapter from Grandma D‘a pov.
Piper and Rayne have made this year amazing with all their books about this family. I seriously can‘t wait to read their new family series hoping to catch alot of glimpses of our Bailey‘s.
So sad it had to end!

What a wonderful tribute to this amazing series! We’ve been on quite the journey with these Baileys- we know them and love them so well that I can practically hear their laughter, smell the Alaskan air, and feel like I should be looking over my shoulder for the loving meddling of Grandma Dori. Piper Rayne has created such a dynamic menagerie of lovable characters in the perfect small town setting. Any ending is bittersweet, and saying goodbye to the Baileys is hard, but I can’t imagine a more perfect farewell than Operation Bailey Birthday. Sweet, sentimental, hopeful, and fun- this novella perfectly captures the magic that is this series. This is the perfect good-bye.
In a fun twist, this novella comes from the POV of all of the kids from the couples in the series, as well as from Grandma Dori herself. Grandma Dori- the matriarch of this delightful family- has been the constant in the series. The loving meddler, the caregiver, the sassy comedic flair- she not only made us laugh, she was often the catalyst to the loving HEA’s of her beloved grandchildren. SO, it is only fitting that this final novella focuses on her- her 90th birthday. And Piper Rayne so perfectly captures her spirit here- meddling and engineering everyone to her liking even in her OWN surprise party. CLASSIC Grandma Dori surrounded by the antics of the next generation of Baileys.
Fans likely will tear up (I know I sure did) as we check-in on all of our favorite characters and get to re-acquaint ourselves with their children, while also getting to marvel and celebrate at the happiness and love that everyone finally has. I couldn’t stop smiling- and I also got excited about what is to come in Sunrise Bay.
What a wonderful journey it has been with these characters- and while I hate to leave the warm embrace of Grandma Dori and the charm of these stories, I’m comforted to know that all of our characters are just where they should be, and with just who they should be. All the happy tingles!
The Bailey Family is adventurous, enthusiastic, quick-witted and passionate. And getting to send them off with Grandma Dori’s 90th Birthday brings this family’s journey full circle. The Bailey’s are my family, all of their ups and downs and their adventures into love have been the best series by far. They made me laugh, they made me cry, they made me mad, they made me fall more and more in love with each and every sibling getting their story.
And to get a sight into the lives of all the grandchildren is an exceptionally brilliant way to end the series. Grandma will always be grandma and you can expect to fall in love with her antics. The grandbabies come with a fresh and new perspective to the Bailey Bunch because they are wise beyond their years. We get a glimpse of some of the Greene and there are little snippets of questions that I hope I get answered in the Greene Family Series.
Seriously though, this birthday party is one for the books because it brings together what I have absolutely adored about each and every Bailey Book……..a family united and so full of unfettered love!!! Thank you Piper Rayne for writing these characters and making me fall in love with them over and over. I can’t thank you enough. You will no doubt LOVE this novella just like I did! You will desire more that’s for sure, so hopefully it isn’t entirely the end of my love affair with the Bailey Family. Bravo!!!!
5 Star Review Operation Bailey Birthday (The Baileys #9.5) by Piper Rayne
Have you ever wanted to dive into a book and yet dreaded it too? That was the position I found myself in with Operation Bailey Birthday. Knowing that this book concludes one of my top series of all time, I knew was going to be bitter sweet.
This book was everything I hoped it would be and so much more. At the end although I was sad, I was left with a smile of my face. It was so great to be back with the Bailey family, to me it’s like coming home. Piper Rayne write characters that are so easy to relate to and they are not afraid to show them in all their flawed glory, it makes the stories that much more realistic.
The entire Bailey Clan are in Lake Starlight and as expected there were laughs, some drama and a whole lot of love as the family prepare for Grandma Dori’s 90th birthday celebrations. Going in to a Piper Rayne book, you know that there is going to be humour, that’s a given, but this book had so much love, laughter, emotion and vulnerable moments and was so well written I was brought to tears.
I was hooked from the first to the last chapter and this was a fitting end to a wonderful series and one that I won’t forget easily. There was nothing I didn’t love about this book.
The gangs all back for one big hooray. I am not crying, you’re crying. I have fall in love with all of the Bailey’s. I feel like I am part of the family. I can’t wait for Grandma Dori and Ethel to continue their shenanigans with Ethel’s family.
Operation Bailey Birthday is a celebration. A chance to reminisce on the good times and say a fond farewell to an extraordinary family. Piper Rayne gives us the wonder of family in all it’s moments. From unexpected tragedy to the resilience of the powerful emotion, love. Through the bumps and bruises, there is beauty within the heartache, humor in the healing and hope for the future. So as I say a bittersweet goodbye to the chaos of the Bailey clan, I look ahead to the next chapter of that long and winding road called life. After all who knows what surprises are waiting in the wings.
Piper Rayne has once again outdone themselves with this truly heartwarming story of the entire Bailey family! How do you even begin to say goodbye to a family that has embedded themselves into your heart and your soul….that is exactly what the Bailey family has done.
This book was such an emotional journey from beginning to end with each Bailey POV. I laughed, smiled, cried and felt a deep love for each character. This is such a bittersweet ending to the Bailey family even though we will get glimpses of them in the Greene Family series, it’s not the same they just hold a special place in my heart. This is definitely one series that I’ll read again and again! Thank you Piper Rayne for such a beautiful addition to one INCREDIBLE series!
Well that’s a wrap on the Bailey family, or is it really?
It was so much fun getting to know some of the Bailey kids and getting a look at this remarkable family many years later.
This series will forever be one of my most favorite family series ever and I cannot wait to get started on the Greene family.
I’m not going to give much a way but I defiantly see a story brewing at the end of this novella, and I’m really feeling it. I hope we don’t have to wait too long!!!
The best gift a drop-dead fan can receive after a series ends, is one last glimpse into the future of the characters and Piper Rayne are bringing it to their readers in the best possible fashion: from their children’s POVs.
This novella takes place during the preparations to Grandma Dori’s 90th birthday and we’ll get to find out what the kids are up to. The ones we knew through the stories and the ones born after all the fabulous HEAs we came to love.
The result is the kind of book you can’t put down until the very end. One that made me laugh to the point of tears, because hello, Grandma Dori’s shenanigans, tearing up because who doesn’t feel for the Baileys and still wanting more because our favorite authors are really evil – which I say with the utmost respect (I still love you ladies).
Now I can’t wait to get to Sunrise Bay and start our new Alaskan adventure which I honestly hope won’t be our last.
LOVED IT!
I can’t believe we are at the end of this fantastic series. If you have loved it as much as me you will not be disappointed!
It’s Dori’s birthday, all 26 great grandchildren are going to be back in Lake Starlight to celebrate!
I loved seeing the kids points of views. Calista has always been a favourite and I loved her chapter and I really hope at some point in the not so distant future the kids all get their own stories!
