At twenty-eight, Jamie Gray has realized his dream of becoming a traveling nurse. After years of moving from place to place, he’s met so many new people but hasn’t formed any true connections. Jamie knows it’s time to stop avoiding his life, like he’s been doing since the death of his mother; his only family. Moving to the big city of Powell’s Point to share an apartment with his best friend is … friend is exactly what he needs. It feels like the best time to set down some roots and get into a routine…and maybe, just maybe find love.
Ronan Kincaid comes from a long line of doctors. Not being one to conform to the desires of his parents or society, his small practice focuses on the people in the BDSM community of Powell’s Point. Often misunderstood, the community needs someone who knows and lives their lifestyle…someone who will take care of them the way they deserve.
With his well-respected practice and exceptional bedside manner—coupled with afterhours scenes and kinky house calls—the nickname Dr. Kink takes hold, much to his dismay. Needing to replace his long-time nurse, he hires the best candidate for his growing practice, figuring his mild attraction is of no consequence. But as time passes, he finds it harder and harder to keep his thoughts and hands away from his new nurse. If only Jamie wasn’t so captivating, drawing Ronan to touch.
As their mounting attraction becomes impossible to ignore, their secrets are revealed, changing everything between them. Heated glances turn into heated touches, and they find themselves wondering: Is what they have a passing phase of pleasure and kink, or can they both open their minds to the possibility of a forever love?

OPEN MIND is the first book in the Kink Chronicles and we meet Jamie and Ronan. Jamie is 28 and has been a travelling nurse for the past couple of years but is now ready to settle down. Ronan has settled down but is in need of a new nurse for his specialised practice!
This story is an interesting mix of being sweet and full of kink! Different kinds of kink so if kink is your thing, there is probably at least one scene in here you will like. As for Jamie and Ronan, I kind of thought they were the perfect pair – once Ronan pulled his head out of his backside! Not every relationship is destined to be monogamous and so long as everyone agrees to that BEFORE anything happens, I’m okay with it.
This was an enjoyable book that moved along at a fair pace. I enjoyed the characters and look forward to reading more in this series.

Open Mind was the perfect title for this book! While it is super hot with a lot of kink it still had all the feels and emotions that I appreciate in a romance! These two authors created a perfect blend of feels and hot with characters that I truly liked! Very well written with an unusual plot and a storyline that flowed seamlessly! Highly recommend!
I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am happy to voluntarily leave my review
Loved this one! Totally not my usual read, but I couldn’t put it down. Great read!
Jamie and Ronan had a great romance. Despite the kink, which I definitely enjoyed, they were sweet and funny together. I loved how Jamie didn’t take long to become open to trying new things with his boss, and I loved the way that Ronan was just so into Jamie. He had heart eyes, for sure. The kink wasn’t extreme, but there was a nice mix of some of my favorites shown. I can’t wait to find out more about the different characters, and the ways they like to play, in future books.
** 3.6 starts **
I mostly enjoyed reading this book. I liked both MCs – they were lovable, very sweet and adorable. I loved Ronan’s practice and the way he treated people with respect. I loved Jamie’s wonder when he discovered something new about himself. I loved the beginning of the story, how it all started between two men and up until the point where Jamie started exploring his own kinks. From then on the book had that sedate tempo that made it a tad boring to read and I had to force read through some chapters. There were plenty of intimate moments but the particular kinks explored in this book I didn’t care for which were voyeurism (this I was ok with), puppy play (do not know much yet so on the fence about it), open relationship (not a favorite) and humiliation (a big no-no for me) but it was well-written so I still continued out of sheer curiosity. There was a bit of angst in the very end so that was nice. I wish there was more intensity and more angst between characters. It read very cute and vanilla if not for all the kink. I liked the secondary characters though so I am curious how it’s going to go with Brad and Andy, so I will continue with the series.
I really liked the story line and the characters were awesome and well written. I wish we just saw a little more of Ronan and Jamie’s relationship and the flashback scenes just seemed odd to me and at times confusing. I’m looking forward to see where the next one takes us.
I recieved this as an ARC and voluntarily leave this review.
Where to start, the book was definitely hot! A few errors in spelling and the ending seemed a little rushed to me. I would’ve liked to have seen a few more details in the epilogue. I know there will more books but Dr. Kink and his hot nurse’s ending didn’t tied it up for me. I’m sure they will make appearances in future books but I felt that they deserved a better send off than what they got. Don’t get me wrong it’s a nice glimpse into their lives a year later but….
I also wished, the sex that happened would had have been more between the couple in the book. I know it was about exploring Jamie’s new found kink but it could have been explored with them having more sexy time with each other as well. I didn’t feel that there was any cheating going on as everything was consensual and both of them where there while it was going down.
It was a good start, let’s see what couple is next but I have a strong suspicion as to who will be next!
This is a world of BDSM and lots of Kink. So be warned that there is open relationship, BDSM/Kink, D/s, humiliation kink, feminization, role play, voyeurism and puppy play.
Dr. Ronan Kincaid practice is for this select community and when he hires a new nurse Jamie Gray, the sparks fly. Jamie is not from this community but he finds himself understanding that maybe he does have a kink and voyeurism is it.
Ronan and Jamie’s relationship reminds me of a nice slow but hot build up, Ronan is very comfortable in his world and loves sharing and helping Jamie find his kink zone.
The scenes flow very easily with not only Ronan and Jamie but also with the many secondary characters. I am hoping that a few of these secondaries will be getting their own story.
Like with all relationship’s different emotions come into play, and when you are in an open relationship, insecurities, and self-doubt and fear of the unknown can really wreak havoc. Ronan is older and has been in the BDSM world for many years so it is natural for him to wonder if this is just a passing phase for Jamie. Watching the conflict and how they resolve their issues felt like a true and real relationship.
Some times when two awesome authors co-write together, the storyline can get choppy, Open Mind is not one of them. The flow of Ronan and Jamie’s story blends perfect together.
I truly loved their story because it brought me out of my normal comfort reading zone, into a world that I would not normally have read, and yet I find myself looking forward to the next book.
I recommend you take the chance and come join Ronan and Jamie in their world of Kink, crazy ride but very worth it.
This book was wonderful. I was cautious of some of the kinks, but was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked them and how well done they were portrayed.
Wow! Open Mind is a great book and Luna David and Morning Star Ashley did a great job with this one. The title pretty much sums it for me what the book is about. Jamie and Dr. Kink were so hot together and all the other MCS were too. Jamie with his curiosity and Dr. Roman with is kinkiness are a perfect fit. I knew once you start developing feelings for one another things will change.
I tried to put the book down but I couldn’t. Once you start reading it you can’t let it go, and I finshed it in one sitting. Overall, I love the book and it was a great read.
Jamie and Ronan truly came to life in this book. The depth of the characters was truly visceral. The descriptions, the imagery and the emotions, truly make this book an absolute joy to read. The openness and way kinks were explored in this book, was completely refreshing. I highly recommend it.
What a great way to kick off a series!
Jamie, a traveling nurse, finds himself working for Dr. Ronan Kincaid, known by some as Dr. Kink. Jamie falls into a world of BDSM and self discovery with Ronan as his skillful teacher. The level of heat and chemistry in this book is off the charts, both in and out of the bedroom. Their story is a great one. Its full of emotions and wonderfully amazing, kinky fun! Definitely a recommended read! These authors came together to create something romantic and super STEAMY!!
3.5 stars!
This book was a bit of a toss up for me by the end. On one hand I believe it’s a great start to a new series, but on the other hand I have some issues with its execution.
First of I will say this book definitely checked off some boxes in my wants category for explorative and unique kinks; open relationships, voyeurism, new to the lifestyle, patient doms, kink parties, puppy play, feminization…etc. I really enjoyed all the scenes in the story and felt they built a strong world for this new series and the lifestyle that Ronan Kincaid lives.
Jamie and Ronan were effing adorable from the get go. The build to their coupling and then subsequent relationship were some of the strongest parts of the story and I was really excited for them. However, as the story progressed I felt like their development took a nosedive.
I will 100% say this story has an absolutely enthralling (catch you by the eye balls) and strong opening half. The groundwork for their lifestyle and their daily lives was engrossing and fun to read. I’m really excited to see how the rest of the series progresses.
I realize this book is co-authored and honestly I think that is likely where the cracks I saw in the book lie. Open Mind actually feels like its written by two people who had completely different objectives for the story. There are parts that flow in strong measure and then there are parts where characters and their development fall really flat, and things that get mentioned to never see the light of day again, or story elements that come out of nowhere. Sadly, with an extremely strong beginning the end of the book felt like it existed as story all together. The climax of the story felt contrived and I feel like the authors were still explaining tid bits to the readers, about the characters, that should have shown up much earlier for all to not feel like it came out of left field.
I don’t want this to come across as a rough review for the book, because I saw tons of amazing parts of this book and tons of potential for the rest of the series, but it does feel like the authors need to work out their cohesiveness a little bit more.
The sweeter side of Kink
A sweet Awakening
Reading this book is enlightening for me, just like how Jamie felt when he started working for Ronan, he was feeling a little out-of-his-depth but he was willing to face the new challenge, and it shows the braveness and strength of someone who is confident about himself. I have just started reading about kinks, and it is a continuing learning process. Jamie is going through the same learning experience in this book, and he is admirable in the sense that he is honest, and his growing attraction to Ronan makes the learning more enjoyable. Ronan is sweet, caring and a caretaker. As a doctor, it has always been his passion to care, not only for his patients but also for his partner. The way Ronan goes out of his way to make Jamie feels comfortable and gives him the chance to adjust to what he is learning about himself and his own kinks is endearing . The fact that Ronan is catering to a special group of patients highly speaks of the consideration and kindness that he wants to enforce, not only in his practice but also very much present in the way he pays attention to his after-clinic guests as well. The sex scenes are amazingly hot, the care and consideration that Ronan gives to Jamie every time makes him so lovable. And when they hit challenges along the way, it shows the vulnerability of both MCs, their fears and insecurities. But Jamie is refreshing in that he is young and naive in some ways, but he is honest and he tries to convey to Ronan what he wants. It is endearing to see them uncertain at times, but you can see the growing love they have, when they start to understand what the other person means to them, they fought for it and talked. Communication is one important key in a relationship, and the MCs here talk to each other a lot. I think that’s why when they hit a roadblock, and realized what was causing it, they went ahead and fought for what they each want. Ronan and Jaime have open my eyes to the intricacies of Dom/Sub and kinks between people in relationships, but as in the book, it is a sweet awakening. This book is must-read for those who are just starting to learn about these concepts (kinks and Dom-Sub, etc.), and when you start learning and understanding it, you’ll find it enlightening and endearing, especially between couples who feel deeply towards each other as in the case of Ronan and Jaime. Congratulations to Luna David and Morningstar Ashley, for creating an amazing story!
