Nate Pearson is ridiculously handsome and wears the hell out of a suit and tie, but I’ve seen the parade of beautiful women leaving his apartment across the hall – a different one every time – and I want no part of it. When it comes to romance, I’m looking for something real, something that will last: the happily ever after. As a divorce attorney, he loves to tell me there’s no such thing. As a … thing.
As a wedding planner, I choose to disagree.
We disagree on almost everything, in fact. Everything except James Bond. The only time we really get along is when we’re watching 007 flicks together, and I’ll admit – he has rescued me from a disaster or five. So when one of the baton twirlers from his parade leaves a baby girl at his door with a note that says “I’ll come back for her” and he begs me for help, I can’t turn him down.
But it’s a mistake.
Because watching him with his daughter, I start to see another side of Nate, a side that has my breath coming faster, my body craving his, my heart longing for him to change his mind about love and tell me there’s a chance for us.
I don’t want to be just another girl leaving his apartment in the morning.
I want to be the one he asks to stay.

Oh, my, Melanie Harlow. She can always get me with her swoony, sexy men, but she undid me with that baby. With banter that reminds me of old black and white romantic comedies starring Hepburn and Stewart and an angry sex scene that requires a panty change afterward, this book is definitely one of my favorites. And I’m not just saying that because she wrote a good chunk of it while sitting in my office. <3
I will read anything that Melanie Harlow writes, but this one blew me away. It wasn’t typical for its trope, but it brought in every sweet element of surprise daddy without losing steam, humor or strong characters. I gobbled up this story and can’t wait for the next book–these would be awesome reads on any beach this summer!
A divorce lawyer + wedding planner + surprise baby = fun and feels in this sweet, steamy romance!
Wow, the blurb had me so intrigued with this story but reading it had me falling in love with this book! Emme and Nate’s story was sweet, sexy, emotional and an all around beautiful love story from beginning to end! Looking forward to the next book in this series.
Hey guys, Just wanted to let you know about this sweet steamy read. Enjoy!
Another amazing book by this author. There is something about reading Melanie’s books that always feel so bittersweet. Her books are so enjoyable that when you pick up one of them you loose track of time. Emme and Nate definitely reeled me in. Hook. Line. And Sinker.
This was an excellent friends-to-lovers romance, but more than that Emme and Nate were complete opposites of one another. Nate is a divorce lawyer who doesn’t believe in love or relationships, while Emme is a wedding planner and hopeless romantic. Their views clash but one thing is for certain, their undeniable attraction to one another. I loved watching these two fall in love and seeing Nate soften up from the love Emme constantly gives him. Nate is a complex character who had many layers to peel back. From his denial of having a daughter, to his complete acceptance and love of Paisley was probably the most beautiful thing ever. But more than that I loved seeing how his feelings for Emme changed. There was no denying how much Nate wanted her physically while at the same time being scared that he would hurt her by not being capable of being what she needed. But I loved seeing how his feelings slowly changed.
I really loved this book and Nate was just a wonderful character that I absolutely loved. I also liked to see some of Mia, Lucas, Coco, and Nick who are from the Frenched series. This is an excellent book with lots of amazing tropes, so you get a little bit of everything. Friends to lovers, single dad, and next door neighbors. I loved all the aspects of this book with plenty of hot and sexy scenes that had me fanning myself. I love every book this author writes and the warmth and pure joy that sweeps over me every time I pick up one of her books.
Nate and Emme story ….. You could feel the sexual tension rolling off these two friends that are comfortable in their friendship living across the hall from one another. They both have wiggle your eyebrows thoughts for one another but never have acted on them. Until Nate becomes a single DAD ( a HOT one) and Emme is helping him from a professional bachelor to a doting DAD overnight (no it takes a lot of work and help).
When the line of the bedroom is crossed there is hesitation and a bit of awkwardness on both sides. Read this for a sweet and saucy Melaine Harlow read to see if they can navigate through the awkwardness, parenthood, and life together.
Super sweet story from Melanie Harlow! I love how she weaves her characters from book to book together in a six degrees of separation way.
Melanie has a way of making you love each of her characters more than the last. I love a good single dad book and this is a perfect template for a feel good single dad story.
Melanie is a one click author for me, and Only You only continues that trend!
Emme wanted true love but found that she always dated the wrong men, the last one was Richard who got engaged to her assistant. Now if that’s not like life throwing you a curveball, but in all reality, she was saved by that strikeout.
Nate, the divorce attorney who lives next door was always there to save the day, put out fires, & unlock doors, found himself looking for help from his neighbor.
You never know what can happen when you open your heart & your mind to the unexpected.
There are plenty of reviews out there already about this book, but I’m going to give you my 2 cents worth anyway. On the surface it might seem to be just a routine story, but its actually an awesome recipe when prepared by this author. In this friends-to-lovers main dish, combine an emotionally closed off male divorce attorney plus a female wedding planner anxious for an emotionally gratifying relationship … stir in some serious chemistry and steam for several years until bubbling … garnish with an adorable baby the man never knew existed and serve with an assortment of interesting secondary characters … and the result is a satisfying book to savor.
I was hesitant a bit about Nate, the male lead character, and his apparently cavalier attitude toward women. It seemed Emme, the female lead, deserved so much better in her life. Yet, as the story unfolds we get to understand the reasons he is the way he is, and he becomes incredibly compelling. These 2 truly deserve their HEA.
Melanie Harlow weaves a spell when she writes her books. There is a level of authenticity to her characters that sometimes make you feel that you are reading about something that happened rather than enjoying a work of fiction. You turn the pages relentlessly because you want to know what happens to the characters – those “people” who have captured your interest so thoroughly. Lose yourself in this book for a while and I think you’ll be glad you did.
Nate and Emme live across the hall from each other and are great friends…with feelings for each other neither are ready to admit. While hanging out one night they discover a baby left outside Nate’s door, who just happens to be the daughter he didn’t know existed. As Emme helps Nate navigate through his sudden fatherhood, will they both give into the temptations they feel for one another?
Nate Pearson is by far one of my most favorite book boyfriends. This book delivered all the feels – great banter between the main characters, great story line, great conflict, and tons of heat! As usual with everything Melanie writes, I inhaled this book!
I’ve only read a couple of Melanie Harlow’s books so far but they are so well written, funny, emotional, & entertaining. Nate is a divorce attorney & Emme is a wedding planner that are friends & neighbors. Emme comes to his aid when a baby is left at his door from a past hook up that never told him she was pregnant. It’s a funny, emotional ride for the both of them as he learns to be a father & struggles with his new relationship with Emme. Wonderful characters, wonderful book!!
Great friends to lovers story! I had a tough time putting this book down. Anxious to read more in this series, although this is a standalone with NO cliffhanger. Emme and Nate can write their own ending as multiple ones emerge throughout the book. Kept me reading until I could find out which one it would be.
Omg..I did not want to put this down! I really was. It sure what to expect and found myself chuckling, smiling, wanting to cry and getting mad. Really really great story!!

Only You was the first book in the One and Only series by Melanie Harlow.
Nate was a divorce attorney aka relationship skeptic and Emme was a Wedding Planner aka fairytale romantic. They lived across the hall from each other, were friends and couldn’t have been more opposite. Add in an unexpected eight week old daughter dropped on a doorstep and things just got complicated.
Harlow took us through a journey of changes and coming into one’s own. It wasn’t necessarily an easy path, but a path none the less. Harlow told the story through a double POV with a mixture of seriousness and humor. Although it was a journey for both, Nate had a lot of baggage that shaped his thoughts and lifestyle that he needed to confront before he could grow. He was likable but he was also a douche at times. But what’s the saying…in the end, love wins.
All in all, it was well written and enjoyable. The stage was set for the series to continue through Emme’s sisters, Maren in Only Him and Stella in Only Love.
Only You is Melanie Harlow’s next epic romance. I love her stories and writing so much that I didn’t even read the synopsis before I opened the book. It wasn’t necessary. I knew I would be addicted once I read the first page. I always am. If life didn’t get in the way it would have been read in one sitting. This story all started with a fire…
Nate was used to rescuing his neighbor across the hall. She locks herself out of her place so often that he has a spare key. He knows her screams when she is being attacked by a spider. Tonight it was a fire in her kitchen. He didn’t mind saving her. He was an alpha man after-all. Well…he thought he was until later that night when a baby was left on his doorstep with a note saying he was her daddy. Now, he needed Emme to rescue him. He never thought he would have to ask her how to change a diaper or make a bottle. He never wanted a baby. He never even wanted a wife. Fuck…he didn’t even do relationships. He was a divorce attorney. He didn’t need that shit in his life. He was fucked…
Emme never thought she would see the day that Nate lost control. Tonight it was happening and it was both shocking and beautiful. Nate in a suit is hot. Nate holding a baby is ten times sexier. She always thought her neighbor was handsome but he was a friend. One that had a new girl walking out of his place every Sunday morning. She never wanted to be one of those girls. She was a romantic. A wedding planner. She loved love. When she fell, she fell hard. Nate has teased her about it for years. Saying she lived in a fairytale world. Maybe she was but she wanted it all.
Nate needed her. He hated to admit that but he did. Emme was happy to help. She knew it was hard for Nate to admit his insecurities. He didn’t do feelings. They were friends who drank martinis and watched Bond flicks. They were now friends who changed diapers and took naps together. Emme knew she shouldn’t want Nate because he would only hurt her but seeing the different sides of this man made her swoon, laugh, and get all kinds of hot and bothered. And Nate wanted her. Bad. He missed her when she went home. He missed her laugh. He didn’t do relationships but with her, he might be willing to try. Maybe. He was so lost. He was losing himself. He hated losing control but his girls were worth it, right?
I absolutely loved this book. Nate is not a feelings type of man but his inner dialogue is a different story. I felt for him. Emme is seriously so damn sweet but she has a badass side too. I loved when it came out. She wasn’t taking Nate’s excuses. And Paisley, she is only two months old but she stole the show. So stinkin’ cute. She had these two wrapped around her tiny fingers. There probably wouldn’t be a Nate and Emme story without that little peanut. But, can Emme and Nate get on the same page when it comes to a future?
Overall…It was everything! It gave me all the feels. The characters are well-developed, funny, strong, beautiful, and real. They have their anxieties, insecurities, and flaws. I loved watching them grow. Their chemistry is hot. Their banter is fun. Their story is emotional. It is one of my favorite Melanie books!
Quotes:
“I set my fires in the bedroom, Calamity. And they’re never small.”
“I’m sorry. I was…in shock.” He stood up taller, thrust his chest out. “But I’m man enough to handle this, dammit. I’m all fucking man.”
Me: Can I bring you anything from the shop downstairs?
Nate: Yes. I’d like a case of Red Bull, 6 lines of cocaine, and a Pixie Stick.
Me: Will you settle for a doughnut?
Emme and Nate have an easy going friendship that has blossomed after years of being neighbors. Seems Emme gets herself into a jam quite often and Nate is there to help her out of them. One night while they’re hanging out Nate is left a tiny present, in the form of a baby, on his doorstep. Nate freaks out and Emme is there to help him for once.
As Nate explores his new reality of being a Dad, his and Emme’s relationship changes. Emme has been looking for love but feels she doesn’t deserve it. Nate is convinced the bachelor life has always been what he wants. As their attraction grows they fight to get on the same page at the same time.
A feel good love story that’s filled with drama and hot romance. Throw in an adorable new baby girl and this book is amazing. I loved this one so much.
5 stars
I purchased a copy of the One and Only steamy 3 book boxset featuring the sisters Emme,Maren, and Stella’s quests for love by Melanie Harlow and this review was given freely.
The three sisters meet handsome and sexy men who don’t believe in love or relationships until after they meet, profess their love to and then dump their respective sister.
Each story has a rocky romance, wonderful characters,a happy ending and an increasing level of steam. While each story features a certain sister, each novel contains the continuing lives of the previous couple and is best read in sequence.
Only You: Emme and Nate
A neighbors and friends to more romance. Sinical divorce attorney and playboy Nate usually rescues his danger prone nextdoor neighbor the wedding planner Emme until a baby abandoned at his door leaves him shocked and clueless. Dramatic, humorous and action packed, combining secret attraction with the chaos of becoming a new parent.
Only Him: Maren and Dallas
High school sweethearts reunite when tattoo artist Dallas stops in Detroit on his way to have brain surgery to apologize for suddenly dumping yoga and wellness studio owner Emme.
Drama in the form of a sinister dream, the emotional stress of a cancer diagnosis and, the emotional trauma of a misunderstanding family add interest to this rocky second chance at love romance.
Only Love: Stella, Grams and Ryan
A steamy ex Marine romance with humor and interest in the form of a feisty and conniving matchmaking grandmother. Unlucky in love psychologist Stella goes to visit her grandmother only to fall in love with the emotionally challenged next door neighbor. Contains a serious and poignant undertone in the form of low self esteem, divorce, the ex-military struggle to assimilate into civilian life, and suicide.
Nate and Emme are best friends and neighbors. She is a wedding planner with dreams of love Nate is a divorce attorney jaded by the world. Until a baby is left on his doorstep. Nate’s world changes so much and Emme can’t help but fall in love with him. Loved It
