THE WAY OF STEEL is a riveting new fantasy series by Morgan Rice, #1 bestselling author of the 17 book fantasy series THE SORCERER’S RING, which begins with A QUEST OF HEROES (book #1), a free download with over 1,300 five star reviews!
ONLY THE WORTHY (The Way of Steel—Book 1) tells the epic coming of age story of Royce, 17, a peasant farmer who senses he is different, that powers reside within him beyond what he can understand. When his true love, Genevieve, 17, is stolen from him, he must risk it all to wage war with the nobles and save his love.
Banished from his homeland, sentenced to the infamous Red Isle—a barren island known for turning boys into warriors, and for leaving behind more dead than alive—Royce must hope to survive.
Genevieve, meanwhile, desperate for Royce’s return, is forced to inhabit the cruel and conniving world of aristocracy, immersed in a world of cutthroats and liars.
As Royce’s powers develop, and as he learns of his secret lineage, he can only wonder: is he the destined one?
ONLY THE WORTHY weaves an epic tale of friends and lovers, of knights and honor, of betrayal, destiny and love. A tale of valor, it draws us into a fantasy world we will fall in love with, and appeals to all ages and genders.
Book #2–ONLY THE VALIANT–is also now available!

Very predictable and not original. Hints of Bible stories, Hercules, Robin Hood. Disappointing ending and will not continue reading series.
Not for thinking persons.
An exciting adventure with unusual twists. The characters are forced to make life-changing decisions in an unfair world. A quest for identity leads the reader down many paths as we are led to question what we might do if confronted with such challenges
Unfortunately, I felt this book was too simplistic in its progression. I lost interest about 25-30% into the story.
I couldnt get into this book.
Great author, great book. Really liked the main character, Lea, and her bravery. Just downloaded the other 3 books in the series and I’m sure I’ll enjoy them also.
Loved it and hated it to end
A name that conjures up images of almost anything but training. This story starts with the village and a young girl. The village is being attacked and she will not go quietly. Jump ahead, 9 months and she is giving birth, and fighting for the life of the child. Those first openings have overtones of other stories, but only Ms Rice can blend them so you want to keep reading. The child is adopted and raised with the name Royce. He is the one the story is about and the foretelling of his coming gives rise to some interesting events. Royce must survive his attempt to save his betrothed, subsequent training as a “gladiator” (not called that in the book) and the fight for his life. Ms. Rice quickly gets your interest and the plot thickens faster than a trip over the falls. I’m having trouble getting into the next book in my list. I want to know what happens next.
Another exciting fantasy by an acomplisher author
What a great read with all the requisites – strong central character whose origins are unknown, but who brings a strong sense of right and wrong and the will to survive. His lady love who comes to understand that you need to do things to survive. A book of strong friendships and unrelenting action. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Good read, easy read
Great read
young love in a world where the only option may not have anything to do with desires…
This book takes you back to knights and ladies and is very realistic to love in that time. It takes you to the mindset of people of that time and lets you be immersed. A good read to lose yourself and travel to a place in history. Very entertaining.
I was given this book and this is what I think – a great start to another fantasy series.
A disgruntled people that are ruled by despicable nobles, a young man and woman in love and a mysterious stranger…all lead up to the beginnings of a story about loss, betrayal, cruelty, barbarism, battles and more.
It’s easy to feel anger almost at once due to the injustices within this tale, which, of course, is the perfect hook – will the villains succeed, is there any hope for the ‘people’…?
Great storytelling about impossible things being possible; like any fantasy.
Enjoyable and recommended.
