Love only works when your heart is in the right place. Hers could be right next door… ready to hand over her heart…but she could use a distraction.
Bodhi has one rule: never leave anyone behind. As a special operative, he knows that each new mission is more dangerous than the last. He’s never made a promise of forever to a woman, not even to the beautiful widow who has him tied in knots. And if there were anyone who could tempt him into putting down roots, it would be Bridgette and her adorable son.
But as his next deployment nears, they make a startling discovery. Their passion, meant only for the here and now, might already be blossoming into something more…

Bodhi is hot. Bridgette is feeling the feels for the first time in a long time and they finally get together. Really liked this story. I always thought one of the most romantic things a guy could do for me would be to take me to Yankee stadium. I officially want to date Bodhi as a result. The Jeter thing was a little over the top, tho, I will give the author her poetic license since it involved my favorite team. The author did a nice job of bringing these two reluctant souls together. I can’t wait to see what happens with the rest of the siblings.
I listened to the audio version of this book. The narration was good, and the fact that the story was interesting made the audio even better. I thought the story was so much better than the first book.
Bodhi and Bridgette had this instant, intense chemistry. It seemed like I could pick it up immediately, when I didn’t feel it with Zack and Willow in book 1.
I loved how Bodhi interacted with Louie. How Louie was always in his thoughts on whatever decisions he made about his relationship with Bridgette. I also thought it was sweet the way he took care of them both. They relationship seemed like instalove, but it didn’t feel like it. There was so much emotion when it was time for Bodhi to return to New York. Then, the scene with his mom and his best friend just added to the smotionw.
A sweet, romantic, funny, sexy read. I really liked Bodhi and Bridgette as a couple. So far, they are my favorite out of both the Sugar Lake and Harmony Pointe series.
When that no-stings-attached fling turns into something unexpected – and not necessarily wanted – how does a woman protect her heart from being broken again? She gets the man – who has determined never to make a commitment because his job is so dangerous – to break his rules. Melissa Foster has done it again and captured my heart.

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.
This was my second Melissa Foster book, the first being The Real Thing which is the first book in this series. I enjoyed this one just as I did with the first.
I really love the Dalton family and the bond they all have, and I was curious as to if something would happen with Bridgette and Bohdi after his brief appearance in book 1.
The story is a little unusual from others in terms of the couple actually agreeing that their relationship is just a “here and now” thing and has an end date. I totally understand the reasoning behind it though, and the story brings to light the risks that many men and women around the world take when they have jobs like Bohdi’s or in any kind of field like it.
Also the fact that Bridgette has already lost her husband a few years ago, and the book has an undertone of serious and heavy loss. But that being said, it doesn’t mean the book is a sad or emotionally heavy book. Its a fun book about living in the moment and embracing the way you feel and the moments right in front of you.
Bohdi is a really great character once you get to know him and see deep inside his true personality. He’s very easy to like. Bridgette is also a great mother and has a strong personality. And we can’t forget Louie, her adorable little boy. He’s very easy to love.
I also liked the fact that there is no real angst in this. Things move along well when you get to that point which was great. Of course we get lots of Bridgettes family in the book and I’m hoping that book 3 is about her brother Ben. There’s a couple of ways his book could go, so my interest is definitely piqued.
Overall, enjoyed this and would recommend.
Single mom Bridgette has her life under control. She needs to be in control for her and for Louie. But when the super hot Bodhi moves in next door, she finds her control slipping. Bodhi is only in town for two weeks to get his mom’s house ready for her. His line of work doesn’t keep him home much and he isn’t in the market for a relationship, but something about Bridgette has him wanting to throw all his rules out the window. Add to the mix her adorable son and things get out of hand in a hurry.
What an awesome, sweet true love story.
I love this series. Particulary the farthest struggle with alshemiers disease. The issues for his son the struggles with caring for his fathers. The unconditional love for his father. The love of Talias family for dan and his father. Their is a great deal of humor. I love mellissa fosters books. Another great one!
Love opens you to the risk of loss, is the risk worth it
This is the 2nd time I’ve read this. I loved Bodhi and Bridgette even more on my 2nd go-thru. And Louie is just adorable. I love the family interactions and the hints at Melissa’s bookiverse. He is scared of leaving anyone behind and she’s scared of being left behind. They are each other’s risk. I’m so glad they take the leap.
Bridgette is a single mom running her flower shop. She was married to a rocker and was killed in a car accident when Louie was a couple of months old. She moved back home and open the flower shop. She gets a next door neighbor who has awakened her girly parts after five years. Bodhi is a covert-operations rescue specialist, broody, quiet, and handsome. He keeps his relationships to one nights because his job is dangerous and he never knows if he’ll come back or not. He is fixing up the house next to Bridgette for his mother. But he can’t get her off his mind so they decide to just live in the here and now and when he has to leave in a couple of weeks, that’s the end. Bodhi starts to get attached to Bridgette and her son Louie. He kept his feelings locked away but they somehow wormed their way into his heart. Breaks both of their hearts when he has to leave but he has a job to do and it’s one he’s proud to do. Will he give up the job he loves for the woman and her son that he loves so much? Very hot. You’ll need tissues because it will make you cry. I know I probably say this about all of Ms. Foster’s characters but I believe these two are the best. Bodhi has a romantic side buried deep and you’ll just fall in love with him.
This was my first read by Melissa Foster and everything I expect from a contemporary romance. It was sweet, fun, sexy, flirty with a touch of angst/sadness, and a happily every after to make you swoon your little heart out.
Bodi Booker, 34, is ex-military turned covert-ops rescue specialist with a hard exterior but a secret soft and fuzzy side. He’s fixing up his mom’s house and falls for the hot-single-mom-widowed-neighbor, Bridget. He knows his time in Sweet Water is only temporary so they decide from the start that they can only be friends with benefits. But we both know how that one usually goes….
Nice small town romance
I enjoyed Bridget and Bodhi’s story. I am not a big fan of the insta-love romances, so this story isn’t one of my favorites. Both main characters are really likable, Bridget’s son, Louie is adorable. But the, we cannot get together because I may die part of the storyline drove me crazy. You can never guarantee that anyone will be here tomorrow, so using that as a reason to not get together was annoying.
Terrific read. Read straight though. Warm fuzzy feelings.
Bridgette Dalton is a business owner, widow and single mom to an adorable fun year old. She’s always on the go and even thinking about dating or having free time is laughable. However, catching a few sneak peeks at her hunky new neighbor is another story.
Bodhi Booker is ex special forces and current black ops. His lives his life moving from one dangerous situation to the next. He has no room for relationships or connections because he can’t ever guarantee he’s coming home from whatever mission he is sent on. He’s always been okay with love them and leave them flings, until he runs into Bridgette and Louis. For the first time in his life he is thinking there may be more to life than his job.
When Bodhi and Bridgette agree to explore their passions with a no-strings attached fling, they never expect how quickly their feelings take off and turn into so much more. Their “here and now” relationship has an expiration date of only 2 weeks, but their hearts didn’t get the memo. Will they be strong enough to let one another go to avoid the possibility of heartache caused by Bodhi’s dangerous job or will they find a way to use their newfound love to forge a relationship stronger than the fears of what may come if they stay together.
Only for You really gave me all the feels! I laughed, I cried (seriously, make sure you have tissues handy when reading) I felt hope and love and despair . . . it’s truly a beautiful emotional roller-coaster, just like real life!
Bridgette has been deeply hurt in the past, and being the wonderful mom she is places her child’s well being before her own needs and wants. She is smitten with Bodhi but has to be cautious in not only protecting her heart, but her son’s as well.
Bodhi is all alpha. He’s sexy and protective and has a hidden romantic side that could make any woman swoon. He immediately connects with Bridgette as well as her son and treats the little guy with such care and caution it’s enough to melt your heart!
The plot moves along at a great pace, showcasing just how hard and fast Bodhi and Bridgette fall for one another. Their secret interactions and conversations are gorgeous. Their time spent with Louie is adorable to read. Bridgette and Bodhi’s family are a strong cast of secondary characters in this book, as is Bodhi’s dog Dahlia. The connections and banter between everyone is written so genuinely that it was easy to become immersed in this story and feel every emotion the characters go through as it happens (hence the box of tissues).
Maybe it’s because I was a military spouse whose husband deployed that I was able to identify as closely with the emotional roller coaster of love and lust and fear and denial that Bridgette and Bodhi both go through. Living every moment together as it could be your last really shows how much those little moments we all take for granted count. Melissa Foster does a truly amazing job of showcasing this in Only For You. It’s an amazing journey that should not be passed by if you are looking for a heartfelt read. 5 stars!
I loved this book. I loved it so much, I’ve read it twice. I’ll probably read it again next year.
What an amazing book! It has everything I love in a romance….steam but yet sweet, and it definitely pulled at my heartstings!
Bridgette is an amazing mother. She has had to be mother and father to her young son, Louie, after her husband died years ago. She has a great support group of family and friends, but she hasn’t found love again and doesn’t think she ever will. She is one tough cookie. She has worked hard to create a loving, warm life for Louie. However, she is lonely. She isn’t looking for a relationship but a distraction, and her sexy neighbor, Bodhi, might just fit the bill.
Bodhi is the whole package…sexy, sweet, intelligent, and has a great sense of humor. Not many women could resist him. Like Bridgette, he isn’t looking for a relationship either. He doesn’t hide that fact either. The chemistry between these two sizzles, and they believe a casual affair will work perfectly for them. As they spend more time together, and Louie seems to become more attached to Bodhi, things get complicated. This is the point that Bodhi and Bridgette have to decide if they can put their fears aside and make their own HEA.
I loved the characters, even the secondary ones, and as you can imagine, I adored little Louie. He could melt anyone’s heart. They added a deeper level to the book, and as always Foster writes with such emotion, I couldn’t help but be under Melissa Foster’s spell. Waiting for the next one in the series!
Since The Real Thing I have been dying to read Only for You, and boy did Melissa do a stand up job with it. We have returned to the shores of Sugar Lake in the small town of Sweetwater, where things are really hotting up for Bridgette Dalton and Bodhi Booker. Not only is Bridgette, Williow’s sister but she is also a widow and single mother to her five year old son Louis, she hasnt had a relationship since her husband died in a car crash when Louis was just months old, guys see a child as a burden and she doesn’t want to put her son through that. That is until Bodhi moves in next door and he is all she can fantasise about.
Bodhi is only in town to fix up the house for his mother to move in then he is back to the city, that coupled with his dangerous job of being a special ops rescuer puts him in the mindset of not looking for a long term relationship, but in true Melissa style that is until he meets Bridgette and falls for her hard and fast.
They are both so intense and the fire was lit long before they even kissed, that just happened to fuel the fire even more
This was one hot but sweet read at the same time, how Bodhi is with her son will melt your heart. Being a single mother is hard but Melissa captured the family dynamics and worries of Bridgette perfectly.
Loved this book. Highly recommend you read this book.

Only for You is the second title in the Sugar Lake series, and is by far my favorite Melissa Foster read for 2017!
Bodhi Booker is an alpha with a strong purpose in life. He’s former spec ops, and continues his work in the private sector in order to save others from the heartache his family endured. Bodhi is an incredibly endearing, yet enigmatic character who on one hand is a hard and sexy soldier, but he also reads romance, and has a thorough knowledge of flowers and their meanings.
Bridgette Dalton is endearing single mother, after the loss of her husband, her young son became her whole world. She runs a flower shop and devotes all her free time to Louie.
This pair fight their undeniable attraction and chemistry from the very beginning, they both have fears they need to see past in order to forge happiness and a future together.
Only for You is a captivating, emotional, heartfelt story of loss, love and hope. The romance and love scenes in this title are hot, intense and passionate. Overall it’s a lovely small town romance and I have come to love the Dalton family, and Sugar Lake and will be eagerly awaiting future titles in this series.
Loved this book!
Where do I start off?????
First I have to say that I loved Bridgette and Louie, Bridgette’s son, in The Real Thing, you can see my review for that book HERE. Bridgette is raising her son Louie on her own since her husbands death about five years ago. Yes she does have the love and support of her family around her but Bridgette tries her best to do everything she can for him and not rely to much on others. Secondly I need to mention Bridgette’s mother Roxy, now that woman is a HOOT! Just remember Mom knows best, and Mom knows and sees ALL!!!
Bodhi….now there’s a hottie, he’s not smooth and silky like Zane is in The Real Thing, but he did melt my heart every time he though about or asked about Louie. Its rough for a single parent to find love again because they need to make sure it’s the best situation for their child, not only did Bodhi fit the mold for a perfect male influence on Louie but he truly cared about the kid which was wonderful to see.
Bodhi was very much into the Here and Now when it came to relationships….well actually he didn’t do relationships because he never wanted to leave behind someone if he was killed on a mission, but since he wanted to explore things with his sexy neighbor he only promised her Here and Now and made sure Bridgette understood there was no future for them when he returned to the city after completing the renovations on the home he purchased for his mother.
Although I received an Advanced Readers Copy of Only for You I did purchase the ebook through Amazon along with the Audible version as well and I have to say I am so very glad I did. The narrator of the book John Lane has a sexy tone to his voice that I loved, if you enjoy audio books I would recommend you purchasing this one I do not think you will be disappointed at all.
4.25 stars–ONLY FOR YOU is the second instalment in Melissa Foster’s contemporary, adult SUGAR LAKE romance series focusing on the men and women of Sweetwater, New York. This is single mom and florist Bridgette Dalton, and former Special Forces soldier Bodhi Booker’s story line. ONLY FOR YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. We were first introduced to Bridgette in Wild Boys After Dark: Logan. SUGAR LAKE is a spin off, and interconnected with a number of Melissa Foster’s other series.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Bodhi and Bridgette) ONLY FOR YOU follows the building relationship between former Special Forces soldier Bodhi Booker, and single mom/widow/florist Bridgette Dalton. Bodhi Booker doesn’t do relationships but meeting his mother’s future next door neighbor finds our hero in all kinds of trouble as he feels himself pulled into the orbit of single mom Bridgette Dalton, and her five year old son Louie. Only two weeks away from his next ‘military’ training Bodhi struggles with his attraction to Bridgette knowing their time together has a deadline. But the heart wants what the heart wants and Bodhi will soon lose his heart to Bridgette and her five year old son. What ensues is the growing love between Bodhi and Bridgette, and the potential fall out as Bodhi says good bye to the woman he loves.
The relationship between Bodhi and Bridgette is temporary; a mutual decision based on previous loss, and potential heartbreak. Bodhi struggled as he watched his mother lose the man that she loved, and our hero refuses to place Bridgette on the slippery slope of a military man’s wife. The $ex scenes are intimate, seductive and passionate (without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text) as Bodhi and Bridgette will fall in love knowing their will be no happily ever after for either one.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Bridgette’s son Louie, her sisters Piper, Talia, Willow, and Willow’s fiancé Zane (The Real Thing #1), their brother Benjamin, and their parents Roxie and Dan Dalton. WE are introduced to Bodhi’s mother Alisha Booker, his friend Aurelia, his accountant Shira, and Bodhi’s lovable Great Dane Dahlia. Melissa has plans for all of Bridgette’s siblings.
ONLY FOR YOU is an emotional story line. As Bodhi heads to places unknown Bridgette knows she may never again see or speak to the man that she loves therefore kissing him goodbye is probably her last. The premise is wonderful and heart warming; the characters are colorful, energetic and fun; the romance is captivating and sensual. Melissa Foster takes the reader through the ups and downs of a small town romance with big city heart !
