Grayson Ford and Emma Kinglsey–close since they were kids, opposites in every way. He’s the stuff high school crushes are made of, Mister Popular, and captain of every team. She’s artsy, cute, and not in his league, though fully aware of Summerland’s “I Dream of Dating Grayson Ford” support group.
I can’t say no. The girl’s had my heart since before I knew it went missing.
He hides a life of … missing.
He hides a life of hell. His father hates him, his mother’s gone. Emma is his only savior, yet she doesn’t know her power over him. She’s the only girl he wants, the only one he could ever tell–though he won’t.
I’m stronger, bigger, more of a man than he’ll ever be, but because I ruined his life, I’ve taken his crap, his attacks, the vulgar nature of his existence.
Until she discovers Gray’s embarrassment, his humiliation. Emma fights for him and for a chance. Theirs is a Cinderella story that she believes impossible. But as the layers peel back, it’s just a guy who needs a girl in order to keep breathing.
My mind is already doodling Mrs. Grayson Ford in imaginary notebooks. He has no clue where my head is at… But, given that I didn’t see what just happened coming, maybe I have no clue where his head is at either.
Only for Him. Only series, Volume One.

Grayson is Emma’s brothers best friend and has been since they were young children. Now that they are nearing the end of high school they start to explore their mutual attraction. Grayson has had a rough childhood but has covered it well and doesn’t share his story even with his best friend. Grayson is into sports and swooned over by every girl in school. Emma is artistic and feels like she is only included because of her brother. She has secretly loved Gray for quite a while but feels she is out of his league.
I would have loved the series to be longer as I think it could have just been one full length novel. Doesn’t take away from the story and since all 4 parts are released I just started one right after another. Part 1 ends with a cliffhanger so you will want to be able to start to immediately.
For being a Novella the author did a good job developing characters. They are young and you really get to feel them grow up as the series progresses. Easy, quick read that will leave you wanting more.
So I found this book on booklending.com and fell in love with the cover. I, Kendra, pick some books by their covers. Okay that being said this series comes in 4 books and this one is the first book of it’s series which means hopefully soon you will see book two pop up in reviews. So this book is about a girl named Emma and a boy named Grayson. Grayson is the boy that only saw Emma as his best friend’s little sister. So you know what that means….yep, Emma had a huge crush on him. (Sorry, my own brother friends I never had a crush on you.) Back to the story…anyways so it follows along the two of them testing each other attraction. Grayson doesn’t think he is good enough for Emma because of the lifestyle he grew up on while Emma can’t believe he might have feelings back for her. I would continue but I don’t want to spoil it. But let me warn you there is a huge cliffhanger at end of the book.
I really really liked this romance in this book. It’s on the edge of being young adult book but too steamy for teens. Sorry teens this is a very much adult book with some scenes. I really liked how Cristin Harber created Emma and Grayson in this story. As they felt real as I watched each and every scene play out. Their was a slow build of their relationship which I loved, I personally have read books where it was “SURPRISE…THEY ARE IN LOVE.” I didn’t feel that at all with this book. I felt the gradual of their relationship. I mean she knew him as a girl so it kind of had a relationship before the book even started. Also the other characters in the book didn’t feel flat either which was amazing. Okay…let me share some quotes that I had to highlight in this story because this author was a genius with her words.
“See, this is the thing.” He leans closer. “Me kissing you, you disappearing, that’s my nightmare.” -Cristin Harber, Only for Him
“We’re done ignoring us.” -Cristin Harber, Only for Him
“Grayson: No more stories. That’s all I’ve ever needed.” -Cristin Harber, Only for Him
Like I said this book was amazing and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I recommend this book to other romantic adults.
The characters that she creates are three dimensional and you very much want both to get to the end and never have the story end.
