Sometimes life can seem too perfect. About to marry the Merrick, Duke of Moore, Isolde felt they had been made for each other and she had found that special love. But fate… No a wicked “friend” compromised the duke and made Isolde think he had been unfaithful. Now he had to marry the witch and it broke her heart.
A story of betrayal, disloyalty, heartache, intense longing and finally love beyond reason. Once I started I could not stop and as all of Tamara Gill’s writing, she captured my imagination and my emotions to the point my heart was pounding for this couple..
Do not miss this amazing tale that will have you thinking about it long after the last page is turned!
Very good. I liked that the characters had character.
Easy read. Very smooth reading as well as the pages flowed ! I was finished before I realized I was even coming to the end
Wonderful, Heartbreaking & Romantic
I really enjoyed this Book. 2nd chance love, Isolde & Merrick went through hell.
It amazed me how back then people couldn’t get divorced after someone tricks them.
After everything Leonora put them through.
I couldn’t put the book down.
What an amazing story with lots of ups and downs. She thought she had it all until her best friend betrayed her with the man she loved. He thought he lost her for good over that one night. But even after all those years apart from him she still loves only him. She will never want anyone else. After a few tragic events. Despite how scandalous it would be for them to be together they throw caution to the wind and decide to give into their love.
I loved this story from beginning to end I look forward to the next book in this series! Tamara always writes the best books
Another Great by Tamara Gill! Only a Duke Will Do is book 2 in the To Marry a Rogue series and what a series… sooo good!! This is a very sad tale of two lovers that have been inflicted by schemes by the people they trusted the most. Tamara is such an amazing writer and every book that I have read of her has never let me down. Her characters are wonderful and the story is original. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone but I do recommend you read book 1, Only An Earl Will Do to get to know the duke’s family. I am so looking forward to reading Only A Viscount Will Do.
This story has a huge scheme, an unwanted marriage, deception, heartbreak, a loving & supportive family, drug abuse, rescue, no longer able to trust, death, scandal and one’s true love and soul mate. It has it all and I highly recommend you read this book or any of Tamara Gill’s book as she will become of favorite of yours too.
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Lady Isolde Worthingham daughter of the Duke of Penworth captured the Merrick Mountshaw, Duke of Moore’s heart at a country dance before she even had a season. But on the eve of her wedding, a scandal that rocked the ton and sent her fleeing to Scotland alone and unwed, leaves her perfectly planned future in a tangle of disgrace and heartbreak. Merrick loathes the pitiful existence he hides from the ton. With a scandalous wife he never wanted, who flaunts her many indiscretions, life is a never-ending parade of hell. Then five years later the only woman he’s loved returns to London, he knows he can no longer live without her.
Isolde wants nothing more than children of her own but still loves Merrick, she however decides that a marriage of convenience will give her the children she wants so much.
A lovely story of misunderstandings, second chances & the lengths someone will go to claim a place in Society.
Merrick & Isolde are well portrayed as are the secondary characters, their feelings for each other withstand the testament of time & interference by others. Their road to a HEA isn’t easy. Whilst this is the second book in the series it could well be read as a stand-alone, however I hope Alice, Victoria & Josh have their stories
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book
Having read one of her scot novels I wanted to try another one in a different region. The escape to the era is done very well with the characters doing the transport. Funny thing though you still get to go to Scotland but with a different view. Isolde and Merrick have a rocky start but take us on ups and downs that keep us glued to their turmoils. A different kind of suspense is portrayed here thanks to the rules that they had. Emotions will run high at times with us soaking it all up. Drama of the times are like a era ago soap opera with you wanting to slap some one, but fits so well. Well written and leaves you satisfied.
This is a book that I so wish I could have liked more. This is an author that I have enjoyed multiple times before, so I was quite excited to read this book. Unfortunately, I found it depressing, annoying and simply very frustrating. I refuse to go into details and spoil the book for those that will enjoy it. I had big issues with many of the story elements and character actions and reactions. As a historical romance I never anticipated having to suspend my belief of reality at practically the title page and then continue to deny what is well known fact throughout the whole book. As for the characters, well Isolde, in my opinion deserved better and Merrick was a spineless dud. Not really my cup of tea but to each his own. I do look forward to the next book from this series as I did like book one a lot.
I Loved reading this book! It kept me intrested, i dont regret buying it, and neither will you!
This is the 2nd book in the “To Marry a Rogue” series… This is the story of Isolde and the Duke of Moore, Merrick! It starts out the evening before Isolde and Merrick are to be married. They both are very much in love and they do not hide it. Isolde’s childhood friend Letty (who is a very jealous and nasty person) drugs the duke and pretends to be Isolde. She sneaks into his bed and forces herself on him and of course sets up Isolde to see all…He is then forced to marry Letty and breaks Isoldes heart! 5 years pass and Isolde comes back to London and has a season. Merrick and Isolde have never stopped loving each other! Things start to happen and they both end up single! With both circumstances changing can the two ever be happy. Or will society prevent them from being together…
This book was quite enjoyable…You feel the heart ache and really at time want to punch a few characters in the chops! The book flowed from beginning to end…I enjoyed the Worthingham family, each one has such character! Cant wait for the next book!
