The heat in the kitchen can’t match the heat in the bedroom… worse, I’m supposed to be spending the weekend with my controlling mother, and the rest of my wacked out family.
Then my GPS fails me, I skid into a tree, wreck my car, and flooding means I’m stuck in a hick town with no way out.
My only hope is the tiny town’s local mechanic who makes it clear he does not want me cramping his style.
Turns out, Xavier isn’t just a mechanic.
He’s a former Green Beret.
And he’s decidedly cagey about why he’s in the middle of nowhere.
Between his fully stocked pantry, his taste in wine, and his sex appeal, being in close quarters with him is sure to be a recipe for disaster…

Chef Carrie gets into an accident and meets Xavier, who is undercover working as a mechanic. Things were going well between them, until all of a sudden, he changes his attitude towards her. There was definitely a mutual attraction between the two. When Carrie becomes involved in a situation that leads to her losing her job, Xavier is there to help.
This was a nice and quick leisurely read.

Again a great story by Lexi!
She never disappoints.
Although this was a crazy story, I felt bad for Carrie but she was lucky to find Xavier in all of this.
Xavier is the sexy special force who gives her the happily ever after!

The story line and character work were good. The book had a smooth flow to it. While I enjoyed this book, this is not my favorite couple.

Excellent and exciting weekend
4.5
It’s a very good romance, quite unpredictable as it progresses, which contains action and suspense in the second part. It is very well written, with excellent characters: Carrie’s boyfriend broke up with her on Valentine’s Day and she must join her family for a family celebration which she should have attended with him. Along the way, she has an accident and is looking for help. She then meets the mysterious Xavier, a mechanic who wants to help her so that she will leave quickly, but he is not really trying to repair her car.
It’s a good mix of romance, scorching scenes and investigation, for a chef who was just joining her unbearable family after an excruciating day, but who will mostly discover herself.

Carrie is a Chef and is supposed to be going to meet her family at a resort and she is not looking forward to it. She is thinking of other things and takes the wrong turn and gets lost and gets into an accident. She sees a garage and that is where she meets Xavier. Xavier is undercover and is not supposed to get to close to anyone but there is just something about Carrie that makes him want her. Carrie gets the feeling that Xavier doesn’t want her there but she feels an attraction to him and they end up sleeping together. Things are fine until Xavier makes a phone call and then comes back acting hard and cold towards her. She doesn’t know what she has done but she is not going to take it, so she has him call a tow truck and he finds out it can’t come until the next morning. She gets to the resort and gets the drama that was her mother. She ends up going someplace she is not supposed to be by mistake and she gets into trouble. Things do not go well for her and after things are done at the resort, her boss calls and tells her the FBI has been to see him and he tells her that she is fired. She is under watch from Homeland Security and she can’t find a new job. She is thinking about moving out of the country if she can getaway.
Can Carrie ever get her life back to normal after everything that has happened?
Can Xavier get Carrie to forgive him for his part in everything that has happened to her and get her to accept his plan for them?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend this book to anyone.
I received an ARC for my voluntarily and honest review.
Wow! Even with all the drama I would love a weekend with Xavier. He is hot, gruff, skilled and all Man. Carrie a chef breaks down in the middle of a show storm and meets Xavier. Lucky her! This is a fun, tense, well developed story, with definitely lots of drama which includes the family kind and an ample amount of steam. Carrie and Xavier make a cute pair. I’m almost jealous of a fictional character. Lol
This was an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.
