Great read!
Love this entire series!! Such a fun read.
A WONDERFUL BOOK TO JUST RELAX AND ENJOY. LOVED THE CHARACTERS SO I BOUGHT THE REST OF THE SERIES
I purchased “One Wild Dawn” as a NookBook. The characters were well thought-out and believable. They were sexy and flawed but with many redeeming qualities. Dayna’s word usage is enchanting, flowing with ease, weaving into an enthralling story.
Dayna’s writing abilities have matured, resulting in a delightful and heart-tugging HEA. Thank you.

This was a very good but basic love story with the expected challenges and emotional ups and downs. I like the Roderick and Anne characters and the strong sense of family in the story. There are nine sisters after all and I look forward to reading their story too. This was a great book to just sit back and enjoy. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

This book had me hooked from the beginning. It seduced me into reading it in one sitting. It is engaging and intriguing. I found the storyline an angst filled and miscommunication filled romance. The characters are realistic and refreshing. There is no brooding, mysterious, secret filled Hero. The Hero, Lord Roderick Andrews, is a work in progress. He is trying to win the affections of a childhood friend and neighbor, Miss Anne Marsden. To prove his love and devotion to Anne he is giving up drinking and hanging up his rakish ways. Anne has been responsible for the rearing of her eight sisters. With an absent father she has had to run the household as well as the estate finances. Her father is an impoverished gentleman. However, society does not accept the Marsden women because of their disadvantaged financial status. That has never stopped Roderick from caring for Anne. Roderick and Anne had to fight their own feelings and fears to find their way to each other. They have to find a way around the stigma of Anne’s “low born” status. At the same time Anne’s sister, Bernie is just now realizing her longtime friend Chester is the love of her life. Chester’s parents will do everything to keep them apart. I love this story. It is never dull or boring. There is plenty of tension, suspense and drama to keep you totally engaged in the story. There is a soft cliffhanger at the end and I can’t wait to read the next book. Roderick is first the dukes younger son. His father disapproved of his interest in Annette “Anne” as a young man and nothing came of it.
Now, eight years later, he’s the current duke’s younger brother. He’s been smitten with her, but has never done anything about it recently, until he finally asks Anne for a waltz. Too bad he gets sauced.
Anne is the oldest of nine (!) daughters of landed gentry. She almost fell for Roderick when she was a teenager, but now views him as a spoiled lord.
What happens when he can’t remember certain things?
Can he prove himself to Anne, make her see that he’s worthy of her?
I loved Anne, she’s smart, sensible and feisty.
Recommend.

Lord Roderick Andrews is determined to marry his poor neighbor Annette Marsden. But he is drunk all the time and can’t remember kissing her, never mind seducing her in the garden. After their encounter Anne thinks he will offer for her, but he doesn’t. Roderick does try to become sober for her, but he gets drunk again after he finds out she’s pregnant, not realizing the baby is his. I didn’t really care for Roderick very much and I don’t understand what Ann saw in him and why she put up with him. Bernie and Chester were much more interesting characters and I’m looking forward to their story in the next book.
Step into Regency England and enjoy a story that features a couple trying to find their way to be together. Growing up as neighbors, Annette and Roderick had known each other a long time. But he went off the school and she really had not seen him much until her approached her at the ball. You see he just wanted to be close to her and claim her for a waltz. She could not believe he approached her and was excited!
Thus the story begins with each anticipating dancing with the other. But Roderick had a problem when he becomes inebriated to help him with his courage to dance with her and one thing leads to another. I felt so many emotions coming out of these two. The author brought them to life in her descriptions with their thoughts and actions and I felt totally drawn into their life. They seemed fated for each other but the journey there seemed challenging as they tried to express those feelings.
My heart was engaged from the first page and I could only hope they would find their happy ending. I highly recommend this book and cannot wait for the rest of the series!!

Lady Annette is the oldest of nine sisters who is trying to help keep her fathers house from falling down around them. Lord Roderick is a rogue who enjoys his drinking and chasing the ladies but Lady Annette is one that doesn’t fall at his feet. One passionate kiss from Lord Roderick is one she can’t forget but with him being drunk at the time he can’t remember but he sure does want another one. Lovely story with great characters.

Miss Annette Marsden, the oldest of nine sisters, is a caring and nurturing person who runs her impoverished landed gentleman father’s modest estate and dreams of finding love one day. Back when she was 16, she was alone on the bluff watching the sunlight. Roderick, 4 years older than she and whom she hadn’t seen while he was away at school, had come up beside her and sat down. She noticed the changes in him, how he was becoming more of a man with broad shoulders and a handsome face. He set a bundle of wildflowers between them – she was half-suspecting a spider would crawl out since he had tried that trick before. He was gentle and kind, telling her the flowers were for her birthday, and he won her heart that day. But his father, the Duke, rode up and rudely told his son to get back to the house and stay away from “that girl”; and he sent Roderick back to school early. From then on, he grew older, wilder, and stayed in London usually, so she saw little of him. But she held the loving memory close, even as rumors of his drunken behavior circulated.
Lord Roderick Andrews, recognized as a careless rake by many, stared at Annette Marsden across the room of the castle which was filled to capacity this evening with guests. She appeared not to notice him at all. For some reason, she had decided he was of no importance to her. But tonight, he would beg to sign her dance card – for a waltz – and would show her he was worthy of her attention. To his surprise, she agrees to the waltz.
As the dance with Anne gets closer, Roderick nervously goes to his brother’s study and bolsters himself with whiskey. He was tipsy but figured he could still dance well. He wanted so much to prove he was better than who he used to be, for her. He stumbled and apologized for not being his usual self that night, actually because she was messing up his mind. But she responded that his drunkenness was very much like his usual self! She had hurt him, and they began to trade insults until he admitted, to her shock, that she made him nervous! The dance was ending and he needed more time to talk to her, so he danced her to a side door. She was upset and immediately stormed out, but she was so enthralled by him. He was her greatest temptation. She needed to be careful never to lose her heart to him!
Anne had watched him drinking brandy across the hall at his brother’s wedding, then he disappeared. When she walked away, she was suddenly pulled into a dark room and she recognized his special scent. She had never been so close to him, caged in by his body. He quietly recited a few lines of poetry, lines he had written about her. And then he kissed her! He pulled her closer as the kiss deepened, and the love she had hidden for him filled her. At least until he slid to the floor, so drunk he could hardly speak. She was disgusted and walked out. He had ruined her very first kiss. And he was so drunk, he didn’t even remember it!
This was such a beautiful story about two deserving people who fell in love but didn’t know how to express it to the other. I had tears in my eyes at some of the situations. Rather than go into detail, please get a copy of this lovely book and read for yourself how it resolves. You will not regret the emotion it pulls from you – what replaces it is worth reading.
First book in the series. A really good one. Sweet, exciting, dramatic, emotional and so much more. She is the oldest of 9 and is the one trying to keep things going. But she is lonely and wants love. He kisses her but is so drunk he doesn’t remember it. What a way to start a relationship. He now has to try and fix it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.
I just finished reading this book and I must say, it was thoroughly enjoyable! This is Book 1 in The Northumberland Nine series and you get to meet the 9 sisters who are all looking for husbands!!! In this first book, the story is about Annette, the eldest sister, and Lord Roderick Andrews. They’ve known each other since they were children due to being neighbours and Roderick has been known to terrorize Annette with spiders and such! lol She loves nothing more than being able to put him down and everyone around them thinks she hates him. In reality, though, she loves him but he’s a rake with a drinking problem and she sees no future for them. He must prove to her that he’s a changed man and you must read the story to find out how he does it and what all ensues:) The steamy scenes are very well done and all in all, I thought this was very well written.
