Enjoyed reading about Ann Mardsden the oldest of 7 sisters who couldn’t seem to clearly see the true character of Roderick and believed him a hopeless drunk. Great story and a happy ending, of course.
When 9 sisters are all trying to find husbands, it is a wicked ride! The book was very good and the dark hero was as flawed as you would want, but happiness wins over disaster. With 8 more sisters to go this should be a great series!
Dayna writes so beautifully. The Northumberland Nine looks a great series, with all the humour, passion and adventure that HistRom lovers crave.
A big thumbs up.
Ms. Quince writes wonderful characters. Looking forward to Book 2 in the series.
Oops …. haven’t finished it
A memorable story set in a period of pride, snobbery, wealth and position in life. Romance never felt so good as described by this author. Anne and Roderick have a moment of passion that sets the pace for a reckoning. Love, trustworthy family and friends intertwine to make this a story unforgettable.
Spectacular story of lifelong mutual love!
Just started reading this author. Some reviews say mistakes, but didn’t bother me because the story was quite good with interesting characters. Am already reading the next in series.
A good story but it ended too soon.
2.0 out of 5 stars Was This Story Going For Drama Or Farce? I Think It’s the Latter
Anne was illogical. She and her sisters were in a desperate situation that could be remedied by marriage. She was strongly attracted to Roderick, and the feeling was mutual. Roderick expressed his desire to make amends for the past before their indiscretion, but she wouldn’t have him because he didn’t remember ruining her? Ridiculous!
Anne didn’t give Roderick a chance to do the honorable thing. Instead, she decided to risk exposing her family to scandal and ruining her sisters’ prospects by searching for another husband to foist her secret on. Understandably, she wanted a love match rather than a marriage of convenience, but she wouldn’t even consider Roderick because of her wounded pride. Anne was the embodiment of the saying, “pride goes before a fall.” She needed to get over herself. It was foolish to risk so much.
I gave this book 2 stars because the premise and writing were good, but the storyline was disappointing. The cover mentions Roderick forgot his encounter with Anne. However, I didn’t realize his bad memory would be the main factor behind Anne’s rationale, especially once she became aware of her problem. The secret wasn’t taken very seriously. Instead, the characters seemed to trivialize it. Anne and Roderick’s friends and family seemed more like meddlesome busybodies than helpers and confidants. Their behavior was more silly than cute or funny. The way the secret leaked was absurd. If you’re looking for more drama, skip this one.
This book kept me reading; difficult to put down. I enjoyed it very much.
In one word this story is weird. It’s weird how it started and weird how it ended. What I mean by weird is it’s an unique story. The way the couple start and end is different then other books in this genre. And I was left saying… is the it? Good book.
This book was intriguing to me. The author was new to me and I liked the description I read of the book.
once I got into this story I was hooked and captived by it. I truly loved the story and the characters. I really felt the author did a great job giving the characters live and personality.
I love the heroine in this story she was strong, independent and really made me root for her. Our hero though he was flawed had a great heart. I love that the author gave our couple a backstory and that they had a history.
I also am really excited to continue the series to see what happens with this couple and to see what happens to our heroines 8 sisters.
Overall a great story, wonderful characters and a story worth reading again and again.
Just the right amount of romance and intrigue mixed with a good dose of humor. A story of denied attraction covering deep feelings, One Wild Dawn explores the results of giving into those passions.
I enjoyed the book and the characters but would have preferred a bit less sex.
Really enjoyed this book.
Just read a few pages and quit. Pure sleeze!
Didn’t finish it. The sex overpowered the story. For me. Too much.
Did not want to put this book down
I loved this first book in the series. The nine daughters of an impoverished gentleman trying to find husbands is very teasing.
