Lies. Words of deception that assist in manipulating a person, group, lover, or foe. With each lie that leaves our lips, a plot morphs into a quick exchange, and the end result? Death. Some call us Reapers of Beauty. Others think we assist the Angel of Death. Assassins? Murders? The list of what we term ourselves are endless. To us, this life is nothing but a job. One we have no control over … job. One we have no control over what we do or whom we kill. That was how I’d lived my life for 25 years, and I presumed it would always be that way…until last night.
It was an easy assignment. A task I was confident in executing. Yet his stunning eyes pulled me in. His addictive aroma made me sigh in bliss. Those silky strands of hair felt so nice to touch, and those lips held a level of satisfaction that made my body hum for more.
A forbidden attraction that has led me astray. Or should I change that to attractions?
A thousand lies. That is all it takes to become a Reaper, like me. For the sake of protecting this mysterious group of men from my master who wants them dead, it’s time for me to play the game and turn the tables for the sake of freedom.
Will I survive? Maybe not, but I guess I’ll die trying.
Let the game begin…One Thousand and One.

Oooooh! This was a good one from Yumoyori! VERY different from her others, but engaging.
The dark elements could definitely be triggering for some readers, but that has been the case with several of the books I’ve read from her anyway. And Xia is so relatable, you just go on the ride right along with her.
As many of her books are, it is a slow burn. So be prepared for a lot of lip biting, thigh clenching scenes that might leave you a little pissed off about the cliffhanger at the end. Definitely have book two ready and waiting!
Oh wow, crazy intense!!
By the first chapter, I could already tell this is a five+ star book. The entire storyline is incredibly unique, and the characters are so vibrant and well created. Xia is particularly is this amazing really character, which is crazy because she’s a freakin assassin who can do magic!
Seriously though, I immediately fell in love with Xia and the triplets. And there are of course other great characters as well. In fact, this story is so good that you really are rooting for the characters. I’ll be honest, there were tears at a few parts. Just…wow!
And lets not forget the eye candy, those lovely men that Xia comes across which leave her with her first chance at a real relationship(s).
I’ve never come across a story quite like this one, and it was over way too soon!
This is a new series from this author. It’s been out for a little while, and it’s been on my TBR list since it was up for pre-order. I just hadn’t had a chance to read it until now. This book has pretty much cemented for me that this author doesn’t know how to write a bad book. Honestly. This book is fast paced, and there’s a fair amount of time dedicated to back story, but it doesn’t FEEL that way. Some backstories drag and you know what they’re doing but it does get a little boring. That doesn’t happen in this book. Some people might also feel that the way the relationships develop with the LIs is a bit unbelievable, and, yeah, it probably is, but this is a book about female assassins who have magic powers and whose lives are judges by how many lies they can tell. This isn’t about reality. This is about escapism, which this author does phenomenally. I read the Kindle edition, and I’ve got to say, the downfall of digital books is that I didn’t know how close to the end I was in order to panic appropriately that the book was ending. So, there I was all sucked into the story, and BAM! Cliffie. I’m dying now. The plus side of reading it later is that now I have less time to suffer, since the next book is due out next month, which I’m definitely reading.
I am at a loss for words here. This story is absolutely riveting from beginning to end and I found myself upset when I got the last page because I needed more. Wilson has really outdone herself with this new series!! An absolute must read for fans of the genre. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
Wilson has created an interesting and fresh world in 1001 Lies. Xia is a Reaper of Beauty – which is basically an assassin for the Master. The Master is a horrible being – he treats the Reapers – both adult women and little girls as objects. There is a trigger warning in the blurb and I would take note if you are an abuse survivor or have triggers with children being abused. The most descriptive parts of the abuse do take place in chapter 1. I like the guys. We don’t really get to spend much time with them, except for Xander, in this book, so I look forward to learning more about them -especially Silas and Ace, in the next book. The story does end with a cliffhanger, so hopefully book 2 is out soon 🙂
There are triggers in the beginning of this book, so just beware. This story was surprise for me and in no way is that a bad thing. I absolutely loved this book, its dark and intriguing. Lies, love, loyalty, and that fantastic ending ( its a cliffhanger, but that isn’t a bad thing because that means more books!) If I could give this more then 5 stars I would. If you like dark and kind of twisted then this is a must read!! I can not wait to find out what is going to happen next especially with that ending….so excited for the next book!!
Omg this book was so freaking awesome, it sucked me in before I had even finished the first page and wouldn’t let me out until I got to the end of the book!
But that cliffhanger was brutal though with the way it left me wondering what happens to Xia!
Anyway as always Yumoyori Wilson has created another fantastic masterpiece.
She is definitely one mad story weaving genius and I love how she makes the characters the perfect blend of vulnerable and kick butt, which is why she’s put herself in the number one slot category of being one of my favorite authors of all times I simply enjoy reading her books!
But anyway it is a huge HECK YEAH I recommend this book because I think it’s totally awesome!
