A sensual little page-turner certain to leave your heart happy. This one comes with charming characters, welcoming beach locale, and lots of steamy action to curl the toes! Highly recommend!
A nice start to a new series that was easy to read and had some really great characters. Mixing the whole forbidden aspect and a somewhat marriage of convenience to this sort-of/kind-of second-chance romance gave this love story some additional twists and depth.
Owen and Maggie have been meant for each other for forever…there’s just been too many things in their way, namely the feud that erupted between their families. A feud that neither of them quite know the details of, but one that has had them keeping their distance from one another even though the pull of attraction has been there since they were kids.
Maggie was wonderful. After losing her mother, I loved that she stepped up to become so involved in the family business. I could feel her pain at not being able to convince her dad to make changes to keep the business moving forward – and her pain at knowing that financially things were not good and might not ever turn around.
Owen has also become part of his family’s business, doing everything he can to keep the approval of his sometimes-volatile father – and he knows the price he will pay if he fails since his father has already disowned his brother Jonathan for not living up to his expectations. I totally understood his need to stay away from Maggie and loved when he decided that he couldn’t stay away any longer and needed to help her. I also understood his need to keep the truth from his father, but I do wish he would have confided in her his plan once everything was set in place and things were more than real between them.
I absolutely loved the cast of characters in this book and relationships with one another that they share. The girls being BFFFs and calling each other out on their BS was great, and I loved getting to see the strength in Owen and his brother Jonathan’s relationship, despite having their father disown Jonathan. This cast of characters added so much to this book and has certainly laid the groundwork for future books in the series.
This was an easy read with a fairly straight forward plot, but there were some twists and reveals in this book that kept things moving. And I absolutely loved the way this ended – I don’t think I would have enjoyed the book as much if things didn’t end as they did!
This is the perfect book for your beach bag or to curl up with when you need a happy ever after with a little bit of angst and a whole lot of great characters!
Couldn’t wait to finish this book
This is a wonderful story, sexy, romantic & completely sigh worthy.
Great story
I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.
Loved this author. I will definitely look for her books after reading this sweet story with a heart warming HEA finish.
I love this book so much that I immediately bought the sequel What Happens in Summer. I love the characters in the development of the story. Read them both!
Very nice story. Characters draw you in. Bought the next book hopefully there will be more
loved this book
A great read. Will save and read again.
I like a book that takes me into the story. That’s my get away.
Difficult to follow. I could only get through a few chapters and I quit
Loved this. Can’t wait to purchase the sequel!
This book just stops. The reader is presented with several situations that should be resolved, but instead, the book just ends with nothing resolved. Very disappointing.
Not Sweet or Clean -But, Not Bad!
This is an intriguing story. It is a modern romance set against the wealth and beauty of the Jersey Shore. There is a family feud mixed with the NYC wealth of Real Estate and an old chain of Department stores. There is lots of graphic sex and very little swearing. I would have preferred to have more story and less sex. It should be a good series.
One Summer Night is a beautiful story that is well written.
Maggie Sinclair and Owen Pierce are childhood friends whose lives fell apart after Maggie’s mother passed away. They shared a stolen kiss when they were 18, and neither one of them forgot how the kiss made them feel. Flash forward to present time … Maggie and Owen are always running into each other. They have a Romeo and Juliet kind of romance. However, the family feud won’t keep them apart because their love is meant to be.
I received an ARC from Sourcebooks Casablanca, and volunteered to review an Advance Reader Copy of this book
One Summer Night by Caridad Pineiro
At the Shore #1
This book begins and ends with a wedding. It has ups and downs. It is a bit like a modern day Romeo and Juliet story without the death of both the main characters and the families in discord is all due to their fathers having a falling out over 30 years before the story begins.
Rachel is dealing with a family company on the brink of disaster with a father unwilling to move in a direction that might save the business. She has friends that will star in the future books of the series but are also there to support her during the telling of her story.
Owen also has a huge company that he runs with his father but where his father’s goal is to break Maggie’s father Owen’s is quite different. In fact, he wants to HELP Maggie an in doing so will also help her father.
Owen and Rachel do have a chance at a happily ever after IF they can get all their ducks in a row…well…get them BACK in a row and if both are willing to listen to their hearts.
This is a book I believe will appeal to New Adult readers and those that like a fairly predictable plot without any major dramas to contend with.
Thank you to NetGalley and Barclay Publicity for the ARC – This is my honest review.
