One Second is the seventh and final installment in Dannika Dark’s paranormal/shifter romance titled Seven. Each book in this series focuses on a different romance while continuing an ongoing story for the shifter pack. Very fittingly, Ms. Dark closes the series out with the same couple that she started with: Lexi and Austin. Their romance is far from over as evidenced by their intimate and selfless bond. All of the characters make memorable appearances at some point during this final book which helped me gain some closure and say goodbye. I should note though that One Second felt very long. Once the suspense element was added near the end I had no problem though. Overall, I liked One Second and would without a doubt recommend it to any readers who have been following this series. Enjoy!
The Seven series includes the following installments as of 2016:
#1-Seven Years
#2-Six Months
#3-Five Weeks
#4-Four Days
#5-Three Hours
#6-Two Minutes
#6.5-Charming
#7-One Second
#7.5-Winter Moon
I’ve listened to each series by Dannika Dark multiple times — that alone should reveal my opinion of her stories. She’s is one of my favorite authors of this genre and I highly recommend all of her work.
This is a great series to binge read!! I wait for every book Ms. Dark writes. Her characters are exciting, real and oh so sexy!
–“You’re my queen, you know that?” He knelt down and traced the fabric of my bustier with his fingertips. “You have the power to bring an alpha to his knees.”
This book had me bawling.
What I love about Dannika Dark Books… the stakes are insanely high. Like epic level. The strategy that goes into these books is next level. Every other page, I’m gasping in awe saying “o.m.g, shit just got real!”
–Trevor burst into the room. “Hold on to your panties, because a shitstorm is about to rain down.”
I loved that this last book looped back around to the couple in the first book, bringing the series full circle and tying up all the loose ends in the best way. I loved how characters from the Mageri Series (my all time favorite) were mentioned, including Logan Cross – his name was never mentioned, but he was the Chitah who was the adoptive father of Lakota, Ivy’s biological son. I loved that a new vampire was introduced in this book, and I really would have liked to seen a lot more of him than was there. I have a mega-love for the vampires in this world for some reason. 🙂
As I was reading toward the end of this book, there was a certain point where I was just devastated, crying like a baby. Here’s what I wrote as an update at that point: I was crying like my soul mate died. Like my soul was wrenching apart.
The love, camaraderie, family loyalty, the fact that any one of these characters would lay down their life for the other, and the fact that they all proved that over and over and over again. The laughs, the witty banter, the shenanigans they play on and with each other. There are a number of characters in these books, and they all have very distinctive personalities and dynamics within the group. All of these things are what I love about this book and series, and really all of Dannika Dark’s books. You walk away feeling like a part of their family.
–“We’ll die for each other. They won’t. That’s what makes them weak.”
There is a lot of action to be had, too. Lots of fight scenes, and boy, are they doozies. It’s not even just about kicking butt and taking names. They end up in impossible situations, and they take hits, and it looks dire, and that’s when you find yourself saying like I did above: shit just got real!
I’m sad this series is over. I’m stupid for taking so long to finally read this last book. And I’m jumping straight into the next book in the Crossbreed Series I haven’t read yet, which is Deathtrap… which has lots more snarky vamp times. Can you hear my high-pitched squeals?
I love this book as much I did the other books in this series. Don’t miss this series.
Great way to wrap it all up! Amazing series!
And we come to the last book in the Seven series. This one is told by Lexie and Austin.
A war is approaching and everyone is getting ready to fight. Old friends and new ones join the Weston pack when they take the final stand.
This story is full of surprises, passion, battle and lots of love. The author masterfully wraps up this series. I just couldn’t put the book down.
I highly recommend this book/series as well as the authors other series.
Great read
