A feel-good romance that will leave you smiling! One Perfect Touch brings us two wonderful characters, instantly attracted to each other, but hesitant to pursue anything since they both have so much going on in their own lives. I loved the character interactions, especially all the witty banter! This series gets better with each book and I can’t recommend it enough.
Love Finds Rob And Skye In This Sweet And Steamy Next Door Neighbor Romance! Another Captivating Feel Good Book About The Winchester Family.
This book is the third in a New York-based series about the Winchester family. It is Skye Winchester and Robert Dumont’s story. It is absolutely a stand-alone; however, fans will appreciate learning more about this close-knit family by reading the series in order.
In the first book, much was learned about the downfall of the Winchester family and their Caldwell cousin. That extra insight adds depth to the second and third books, as Ryker and Skye, like their cousin Hunter, are shaped by their past. It makes Ryker’s leap from irresistible bachelor to commitment-ready beau all the more real, and explains Skye’s hesitations in a relationship.
From the first book:
Powerful and headstrong Hunter Caldwell, thirty-two, owned one of the largest real estate development companies in country. The Caldwell name was famous in New York. While Hunter’s professional success and generous charitable efforts defined him as a powerhouse to be reckoned with, many remembered his late father’s success and subsequent failure in real estate development, quietly sneering about parallels and gleefully anticipating Hunter’s downfall. Hunter was driven by the desire to avoid the downward spiral that destroyed his family and hoped to restore the family’s good name.
Hunter’s life had changed at age fourteen when his father died and his mother returned to her native England. Hunter didn’t want to leave America – the country he called home since the tender age of four – and it worked out that he earned a scholarship at a private boarding school. Hunter’s Winchester cousins experienced a similar downfall at the same time, which resulted in their father abandoning the family and eventually remarrying, leaving the children scarred. Months after Hunter began at his boarding school, his Aunt Amelia relocated to the same area, along with his four cousins, and he felt the warmth of family again as they pulled him into their family circle. Amelia, his maternal aunt, became a second mother to him and his cousins felt like siblings. They became an important part of his life.
Josie Gallagher, thirty, is on the brink of achieving her life’s goal of becoming a partner in her law firm. She misses her family in Montana (siblings Ian, Dylan, and Isabelle), but she loves her life in New York. She hopes to be married and have kids one day, but none of her relationships have gotten too serious – perhaps in no small part due to her devotion to her career. She is thankful for the Winchesters, who make her feel so much a part of their family. And of course for Hunter, her best friend of fifteen years. Her relationship with Hunter is complicated. She crushed on him for a long time before mostly accepting that they will only ever be friends. Still, sometimes her hopes have her wondering if maybe Hunter has feelings for her, too.
In book two:
Thirty year old Ryker Winchester is the laid back Winchester brother. He is smart, loyal, fun, and hard-working – and nicknamed the Flirt. Director at The Pearman Fund by day and playing guitar at Northern Lights by night from time to time, he is equally comfortable in a custom suit or a leather jacket and jeans. Ryker is great at compartmentalizing, which aided his meteoric rise to Director of a big venture capital firm. The outlet for all that concentration and pressure is performing on stage and collecting guitars. All his extra time goes to his family, and he is always there to help out when needed. Ryker is fiercely protective of them, and they all appreciate what their mom went through to raise four children on her own. Which is why Ryker has no tolerance for men that don’t respect women. Ryker hasn’t ever had a serious relationship himself – his relationships are casual – but he is honest and honorable. He expected that he, his brother Cole, and Hunter would be eternal bachelors, but Hunter just got married to Josie and things are changing.
Heather Prescott, twenty-eight, is building a career in journalism at a national newspaper while raising her seven year old daughter, Avery. When she meets her boyfriend at Northern Lights one night, she has no idea that her life is about to change.
From book three:
Robert Dumont, thirty-three, is returning to New York after four years in L.A. as CEO of Dumont’s West Coast restaurant chain. His sister Anne’s divorce just finalized, and her ex-husband left his position as Dumont’s East Coast CEO. New York had always been home to Rob so the choice is easy. He found a replacement in L.A. and is ready to step into the role of CEO in NYC. He wants to live near Anne and his eight year old niece Lindsay, who are both struggling with the change in their lives. He and Anne are close. They’d had a happy childhood together and he is committed to doing all he can to help.
Skye Winchester, thirty-two, recently took the leap from employee to entrepreneur. She had been a biotech major in college and worked in R&D for several years. But that hadn’t fully prepared her for becoming a business woman and lingerie designer. Soho Lingerie had started as an online store that she and her sister Tess started together, but after years of juggling a day job and the web store, they took the leap and opened a brick and mortar store in Soho. Several months back their investor had jumped ship, causing them to rethink their plans, but with the help of her tight-knit family they have been able to trudge forward.
When Robert looks at yet another home in the suburbs near Anne’s home, there is something about it that calls to him, though it isn’t quite everything he wanted. Moreover, the woman showing the home has captured his attention. When he learns that she has volunteered her time to help her former neighbors, who have fallen on hard times, he is even more taken by her. After living in L.A. for years, he isn’t used to witnessing such selfless generosity and empathy. When Skye sees Robert for the first time, she is overwhelmed by his magnetic pull. But she doesn’t have time for a man in her life, and she definitely doesn’t want to be disappointed again. When Dean, whom she had briefly dated a few months ago, ditched her for being moody right after her investor bailed, it had conjured childhood memories of abandonment.
Neither Rob nor Skye is looking for love, but once Rob sets his sights on Skye all bets are off. Rob is success-oriented and hard to please. His unforgiving attitude works well in the workplace, where he always gets what he wants. He is a natural leader, and people listen. But he doesn’t mix business and pleasure. Outside of work he is protective and family-oriented. He hasn’t had a steady girlfriend since high school; he is instead focused on the company and his family. But he never misleads a woman. He instantly knows he wants Skye, but he finds himself wanting everything. Perhaps seeing what happened to Anne had touched him so deeply that his heart had been opened enough to allow love to quietly take hold.
Rob makes Skye feel desired again, but she doesn’t get ahead of herself by thinking about a future with him. She hasn’t had a longer term relationship since college, and her experience informs her that no man will value her enough to stick around long term. But she is an optimist, so she makes the most of her time with Rob without letting fear control her.
The couple has incredible chemistry that takes them both by surprise. What makes this story special is Rob and Skye’s selfless instincts towards one another. Neither has the experience nor the desire to begin a relationship, but they seamlessly slip into a loving and supportive one together. Rob’s niece Lindsay faces the same abandonment issues that Skye had faced as a child, so Rob’s protective stance toward Lindsay is easily transferred to Skye. A realistic romance, there is no wild drama for shock effect. They face challenges, but their shared love of family and empathy for others serve to help them weather the obstacles. Their relationship grows and blossoms into a mature love – despite a few surprises! They earn a lovely happy ending.
Love finds Rob and Skye in this sweet and steamy next door neighbor romance. The book is very well-written. The plot is fairly simple but realistic. The characters are well-defined. There is a large cast of characters which appear in the other books of the series. Several characters seem poised for books of their own. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Rob and Skye. I rate this book 4.5 stars.
I received a free advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a super sweet story with two very likable characters. Skye is so kind and nurturing putting others before herself it’s obvious why Rob was attracted to her and he was beyond sweet beneath his rough exterior. Rob changed his plans to be there for his sister and his niece but when he meets Skye he finds something he didn’t realize was missing.
Another out of the ballpark hit by Layla Hagen! (I hope she changes her mind and adds more to the Very Irresistible Bachelors Series!) A steamy, quick read about the way Skye Winchester finds the man of her dreams, and the humorous antics expected of the Winchester family. Poor Rob and Anne Dumont really didn’t know what they were in for when they met this wonderful family.
I was gifted an advanced copy of this title but I always purchase Layla’s e-books so I can read them again when I want something to lift my spirits or just enjoy.

Wooowee, Once again Layla knocked it out of the park. Skye and Rob’s story was exciting, spectacular and smokin hot. Rob moves back to New York because his sister divorced her husband and he wants to be there for her and his niece. Right!?! Only the best guy ever would do that. Like I said spectacular read.
While Skye was showing the house next door, she locks eyes with the CEO restauranteur. Rob is gorgeous and can’t keep his eyes off Skye. You can just about feel the chemistry between these two.
I highly recommend this book. This whole series is fantastic and no one writes family sagas like Layla. I loved this book so hard.
Overall Grade: 1/2
“I wanted her on a primal level, more than ever before.”
Oh, Skye, your story did not disappoint. As is the case with Layla Hagen’s brand of romance, when the hero and the heroine meet, there is absolutely no turning back. There is chemistry from their meet-cute. And Hagen’s newest book, One Perfect Touch, is absolutely no different. In this story, her hero, Rob, and her heroine, Skye, are two sides of the same coin: how do you balance your professional life with your personal life? Hagen’s answer: by simply falling in love.
What is there to love about Skye and Rob’s story?
*Their characterization. Hagen makes their struggles palpable. These are two career people who have lived their professional (and personal) lives in control. When they meet, that control begins to slip because they simply cannot stay away from each other. The highlight of this book is watching these two lose themselves in each other as if they can’t help themselves. As they journey towards a future together, their change illustrates the message in Hagen’s book that love changes, that truly being loved by someone allows you to be the best version of yourself. Hagen develops this message well through her characterizations.
*The connection to her Hagen universe. One Perfect Touch is the third book in her Very Irresistible Bachelor’s series, and while it seems that this series relates to separate bachelors, in true Hagen fashion, these men and women are found in the same family. Therefore, as One Perfect Touch goes, you are treated to more of Hunter and Josie and Ryker and Heather, the heroes and heroines from her other books, which means updates of their stories. Additionally, there are future stories brewing in One Perfect Touch. This is how Hagen keeps you engaged in her storytelling. She wiles her way into people’s love for community and offers them stories that keep them buying her stories. One Perfect Touch is a perfect representation of this community.
Overall, I enjoyed reading Layla Hagen’s newest book. There are times when the narrative felt a little slow, but there is definitely a tension in the story that drives you forward. Yet, it never overwhelms you in the end. Reading Layla Hagen’s stories is really like coming back home after being away. It provides a level of comfort that allows you to fall in love with her characters and storytelling without overwhelming you with too much angst. It feels like the perfect “touch” for romance.
Book 3 in Layla Hagen’s latest family series is smoking hot…grab a fan and a cold drink and settle in for some fun and steamy entertainment!
Skye Winchester meets Robert Dumont when she’s doing a favour for her previous next door neighbors by selling their house for them. Ending up with a “too-hot-to-handle neighbor” was not what she’d bargained for! Rob is the perfect pairing of alpha and sweet, and Skye is the perfect match for him.
Their chemistry is instant, their banter is fun, sexy and so enjoyable, the romance is out of this world, and the family dynamics are heartwarming as well as amusing.
So prepare yourself as this one is the sweetest, romantic, and perfect, from the beginning you are going to fall for them as the chemistry and their relationship was meant to be, the author made me believe that I was part of the story and hands down I loved it, I highly recommend this one.
One Perfect Touch is another great read from Layla Hagen. Robert and Skye’s story is sweet, flirty and sexy.
When Robert moves back to New York the last thing he’s thinking about is starting a new relationship, that is until he meets his new neighbour Skye. The attraction between them is instant and soon starts to blossom onto so much more.
This story is sizzling hot and I cannot wait to read more of this series in the future.
(Each book can be read as a standalone)
Sizzling hot and so romantic! I love this style where the bossy, responsible, handsome entrepreneur sweeps the heroine off her feet by pampering her, showing her his caring side, and blowing her mind with out-of-this-world pleasures.
Who can resist business man and chef Robert Dumont? Not me! 😀
Another winning addition to the series, this book is sensual, intense, and has two characters you can admire and feel good about. Rob is a magnetic man, a good brother and uncle, and intent on seducing his lady neighbour. She is a dedicated and generous lingerie business owner, full of energy, and pleasantly surprised by this gorgeous man’s attention. Hot lovemaking, spicy and joyful dialogues, and families that matter.
I loved everything about this story. Robert and Skye fall flawlessly in love with sparkling chemistry, cheery conversations, mutual support, and romantic dates in between hectic schedules. I liked Skye’s unique love of certain themed reading, and her determination in her job. The scenes with her sister in her workplace where great, as well as all the happy and fun moments with siblings and family.
This busy couple finds true love in each other, and the final chapters are lovely with a little plot twist that amplifies emotions and bonding. A passionate and heart-warming romance.
I loved this book. It was such a sweet and fun read.
Layla Hagen and her Very Irresistible Bachelors are new to me, however I was able to pick this book up and read it comfortably as a stand alone. Ms. Hagen does a wonderful job of writing this book and focusing on her two main characters. The book is set in a world Ms. Hagen has previously created in the first two books of the series, but One Perfect Touch stayed tightly focused on Rob and Skye’s story.
There were so many things I enjoyed in this read. I read it over a weekend and never really wanted to put it down. It ticks all my “beach read/summer read” boxes.
Rob Dumas is a growly alpha male CEO who has the softest side to him outside of the office. Rob runs the restaurant side of the family business and is moving back to New York City to support his sister through her divorce and to make sure his niece has a male figure in her life that she can depend on and trust.
Skye is this wonderfully smart, curious, kick butt business woman who is working all hours of the days to ensure her unique lingerie business with her sister succeeds. Skye has this heart of gold, mothering warmth about her, which is likely what lead her to agreeing to sell her neighbors’ house for them when a family emergency has them moving unexpectedly.
Rob meets Skye when he goes to tour the house and it’s Insta lust for both of them.
The story then settles into a nice flow with steamy bits, moments that will make your heart melt, and family hijinks.
Several key things for me within the plot that will make this book a keeper are:
Neither Rob nor Skye asks the other to change. They see and admire each other’s drive and career choices, and they respect each other. The plot is driven by these two type A personalities attempting to care for each other around their crazy jobs. The story is full of just little things that the characters do for each other that shows they “see” their partner. Whether it be Skye bringing Rob dessert for when he finishes a crazy hectic long day during Restaurant Days or Rob working with Skye’s sister to make Skye take a breath and work on a life balance. There isn’t any drama or rub between the two of them having these all consuming careers, and there isn’t any jealousy or demand that someone cut back or step back. Kudos for balancing such a wonderful load in a hectic city and between driven people.
Ms.Hagen writes several incredibly strong, intelligent, smart women. Skye is a biochemist who “fell into” fashion via fabric creation. Tess, Skye’s mum, and her two sisters in laws (see earlier books in series) are all educated, strong female leads. Two are in education, two are single mothers, and one is a lawyer. All are solidly supported by their families and cheered on by their guys. Their intelligence, wit, and smarts are not downplayed, made overly feminine or is it ever suggested that they “can’t have it all”. Another character I’m leaving out is Anne, Rob’s sister. CEO of the food distribution side of the company and newly single mom. Anne is portrayed as a respected executive with useful and meaningful insights. She’s also shown as a loving mother trying to build a good world for her daughter while working through her husband’s betrayals. She and Skye have a great connection where Anne is able to offer business insight to Skye and Tess for their growing business and in return Skye and Tess fold Anne into their family. This is an alpha woman strong story as well.
Finally what I loved was that there wasn’t any huge over shadowing angst to this story. The plot wasn’t driven by how these two would solve some seemingly insurmountable problem. The tension in the plot came from human reactions to life. These two were constantly thrown large hurdles in their day jobs which stretched their relationship time thin. Rob comes from a family where work and love are weaved together and people work to make it work. Skye’s experience is that people leave her when life gets real. As the story builds and the work items pile up, Ms. Hagen takes us through the normal everyday things a couple trying to balance would do. The sexy “I miss you” texts. The showing up at a work place or event where you aren’t intruding, but you’re just there to say “I’ve got you”. The calm acceptance of “life happens” and the working out of logistics. It was so evenly paced and real. It made the romance side of the story really shine.
If you are looking for a great, low angst, good old fashion love story with a side of large close family, this book (and its series) are for you.
Book 3 in the Very Irresistible Bachelors series is very much living up to its name. Rob Dumont is definitely irresistible. He cooks, is kind, watches out for his sister and niece, and HE SPEAKS FRENCH! WOWZA! Skye Winchester is no slouch, but she didn’t stand a chance against all that magnetism. And that right there is the charm of a Layla Hagen novel, they are low on angst and high on good happy storylines.
I enjoy reading her books for the pure escapism into the world of these people who rarely have horrible things happen to them. They have worked hard, are living off the fruits of their hard work, and are enjoying finding their perfect mate. Their family bond is enjoyable to read, and their romantic connections are heartfelt and sweet. Even seeing the remaining unattached family members struggle a bit with their singleness lets you know those good things are around the corner.
One of the things I most admired about Skye is her body confidence. She runs a lingerie store with her sister specializing in body-flattering items for bodies of all shapes and sizes. Skye’s spirit and caring for all those around her make her just as irresistible as Rob. But the pleasure in this story is watching (well reading) Rob and Skye fall in love and how they navigate from physical attraction to emotional bonding.
As I said, this book is pure escapism, but in these days of pandemic and social unrest, this is the best way to spend your time; in a lovely story with a happy ending.
Rob & Skye were a whirlwind.
This was my first by this author, and I really did enjoy it overall.
It was a light read with minimal conflict, which is the opposite of the strife laden books I’ve been reading lately.
The only problem I had was that because of the whirlwind, it felt a little like their relationship didn’t get the solidifying that it would with either a slower pace or a major conflict.
I would read others from this author.

Freaking loved every single page of Rob and Skye’s story. Flawlessly written and heartfelt. I loved how much Rob loved his sister and niece, he was fiercely protective of them. I immediately fell in love with him. This was one of my favorite books by Layla. Great summer read.
One Perfect Touch by Layla Hagen
There was magic and romance in the Rob and Skye’s story. This story was filled with so many sweet moments and sexy interactions. Rob and Sky’s instant chemistry was perfect.
Rob might be the most swooniest leading male I have read in a long time. He is thoughtful and sexy. He is totally a man of understated actions. He isn’t looking for accolades he just wants Skye to know he is thinking of her. His love of his niece and care he takes of his sister was total bonus points.
Skye is just the leading lady we all need. She is not overly needy. She is understanding of Rob’s commitments to his career and family. I did like how when she needed to see him even when she knew he was busy she found a simple way to slip in and just be in the room with him.
I really enjoyed Skye and Rob’s Chemestry. The sparks were flying from the first meeting and they next let us. This was steamy with just the perfect pinch of spicy to keep things interesting.
One of the things I particularly love about Layla Hagen’s stories are these big supportive families. The love and pride they have for their family makes these stories some of the best reads. The interactions between all the different siblings and cousins just adds to the fun of the story. Sometimes to many supporting characters can take away from the love interest and their journey but the magic in Hagan’s writing does just the opposite. It actually shows you the leads heart and commitment to each other and those they love. You know that when they finally declare their love for each other it is going to be total fireworks.
I am such a huge fan of Hagen’s stories and will always keep coming back for more. Each of her stories can be read as a standalone. The characters very much have identities and stories uniquely their own. This was a 5/5 read for me. This was such a lovely escape into the world of Rob and Skye.
This book is adorable. Rob is a great guy, he moves home to be closer to his sister and niece and finds love. Their story is just a love story, a cute, loving story. It was absolutely perfect. I loved every page.
4 STARS
I love Layla Hagen’s writing. One Perfect Touch is a sweet love story between two hard working, career driven people that find love with one another realizing there is more to life than their careers.
Robert Dumont is sexy, a little bit cocky, a lot confident and hugely successful. He owns and operates a chain of restaurants in LA and New York. He moves to New York to be closer to his sister after her marriage ends in divorce to be there for her and his niece. Rob meets Skye when she agrees to help her neighbour sell their house and Rob is the new buyer. From the moment they meet at the open house there are instant sparks and he is relentless in his pursuit of Skye. He is insanely attracted to her and she him. The chemistry between them was off the charts steamy and explosive.
Skye and her sister Tess own a lingerie boutique. The business and her family is all Skye has focused on until Rob. Now she is quickly becoming infatuated and he is taking up all her thoughts and spare time. Her only flaw was her fear of commitment as it held her back at times.
I love the characters, the setting and the family dynamics in this story. The writing is excellent and full of swoony/steamy moments that in the end made me fall for them and I didn’t want the story to end.
*ARC received in exchange of an honest review.
One Perfect Touch is one perfect Love story. Rob Dumont and Skye Winchester have an instant attraction that grows into a sizzling hot relationship. I loved their story because Skye and Rob are truly equals and have a mutual respect for each other. Skye owns a lingerie business with her sister, Tess. Rob is the CEO of a highly successful restaurant group. Because of their business sense, there’s no drama with the late or long working hours. Instead, they both understand what it takes to make their individual businesses successful and neither gets in the way of that but support one another. But, they also find time for each other and when they get together, their physical attraction is hot, hot, hot.
I loved the pace of the story. Layla Hagan does a great job with character development. Not only do we get to know Rob and Skye intimately, but the surrounding characters of their families are endearing and play such an important role in their lives. Skye and Tess’s relationship is wonderful. I hope Tess gets her own story soon. Rob also has a great relationship with his sister Anne and niece, Lindsey.
No heavy drama with their story, but realistic growing pains of any new relationship with a surprise or two thrown in.
Rob and Skye are One Perfect Couple.
Another amazing and swoon worthy story by Miss Hagen! I adored this couple, their story was beautiful!
