SO GOOD
One Paris Summer
I am not one for Young Adult Novels but since my favorite author wrote this I figured I would give it a try.
Starts off with sibling “love” which is so very relatable with a kick of humor.
The story is realistic and true to believe, I was hooked.
It was very interesting learning some French throughout the book as Sophie is taught.
I have never been to France but if the descriptions are on point I feel I can imagine myself there.
The rollercoaster of emotions kept be pulled in throughout the book and it was perfect.
I am not sure why I hesitated so long for reading this book. It was great! I hope Denise comes out with another.
I’m so glad I took the chance to read this young adult book! Readers of any age are sure to enjoy One Paris Summer by Denise Grover Swank. Sophie is headed to the magical city of Paris for the summer whether she likes it or not. There is turmoil and conflict with her father, his soon to be wife, and his step daughter Camille. Sophie is an outstanding piano player, and much of the plot revolves around her practice, competitions, and love for the arts. There is also a blossoming romance, which helps change Sophie’s mind over the course of the book about being in a foreign country away from home against her will. The author’s descriptions of Paris were so charming, and a wonderful addition to this story that made me feel as if I have visited this city myself. A sweet love story with more depth and a level of emotion that I wasn’t really expecting. Rumor has it there will be a second follow up novel, and I hope this is true!
Spoilers! I’m so happy I picked this book up and read it this week. It’s filled my heart with happiness. A young-in love couple in Paris just warms my heart. At first I thought this was going to be a predictable book where she gets together with the brothers best friend but boy was I wrong there! I loved the story line between Sophie and Mathieu. I loved the over protective brother Eric. I’d love to see where they’re at in a few years and all the adorable babies they would make! 5 stars for this adorable book!
This book is so cute! A teenage summer romance full of all the teenage emotions. This book is well written, easy to read, and descriptive. This book is perfect for Young Adults. While its a romance book its extremely clean and very sweet. I loved it!
This was such a fun book. I loved Sophie’s character so much in the book and her love for playing piano. I am really hoping for another book.
I loved how it kept me wanting to read it again after I finished the book.
A beautiful romantic book for love-sick teenagers
I’ve never been to Paris but I’ve always wanted to go and Denise’s ability to immerse you into the story makes you feel like you’re there on top of the Eiffel Tower looking out over the city or simply sipping a cappuccino at a streetside café. So many emotions in this book. First love, heartache, sibling rivalry, family tension. Denise has a talent for connecting you to her characters. You grow to love them and you even love to hate some of them. You feel as though you’ve become a part of the story and it stays with you long after you’ve finished their story.
It captured my heart as we follow Sophie Brooks while she lives the dream we’ve all had of going to Paris, meeting a boy and having a summer romance. While the circumstances that brought her were not exactly what she had hoped for and things seem to have a rough start, Sophie takes the advice of her best friend Jenna and looks for the positive side of being in Paris while taking steps out of her comfort zone. Maybe by the end of the summer she can even say that she lived a little with the help of a certain young French boy of course!
What a wonderful book! I loved every page of One Paris Summer. Well not every page, I did get sad toward the end, but the ending was perfect! I love most of the characters, especially Sophie and Mathieu! I did not care for Dane or Camille, but that is a given. I loved that Paris is practically a character itself and the description to all the sights made me feel like I was really there! Sophie’s growth in maturity, life experiences, confidence, and love throughout the book was remarkable. This has been a wonderful journey. I hope for more Sophie and her growth in Paris in the future.
Enjoyed the setting!
Really sad how her step sister torments her but the romance is beautiful especially that the story takes place in Paris!
I enjoy Denise’s books.
