Sometimes I’m a little hesitant to read bout widowed, single parents of older children but Sara Richardson wrote this plotline SO well. The connection between Wes and Thea’s son, Ryan was so sweet and Ryan always seemed to know just the right things to say to Ryan and it just made my heart melt every time. Thea was a great mom and despite the guilt about her marriage and the death of their father, she was doing her best to help her kids thrive and not let that guilt ruin their memories. Of course she underestimated just how closely kids can pay attention, mostly when you are hoping they are not.
There were some serious sparks between Thea and Wes right from the beginning and seeing them each trying to work past their traumas to allow themselves to be truly happy in the future made for an emotional, yet still fun read. I highly recommend this book and pretty much anything by Sara Richardson to anyone who likes books with a lot of heart and a little steam.
*I received an ARC from the publisher for voluntary review
One Night with a Cowboy continues the Silverado Lake series as Wes takes center stage… or he might have if that spot hadn’t been stolen from this handsome cowboy by two little kids, and one little boy who just stole my heart on every level possible. Thea and Wes make a delightful couple, even as they’re holding back because… things, like trust and even fear often get in the way. It’s time for this widowed mom to trust her heart once again, and one cowboy who doesn’t trust his emotions but is learning fast to come together and take the risk that falling in love requires.
Sometimes there comes along a story that simply works for me on every level. One Night with a Cowboy is that kind of story. A grieving mom devoting her life to raising her kids without their father. A man who made a costly mistake once and now can no longer trust in the future that he believes he doesn’t deserve. Tight friendships that stand the test of time. And children who have lost their father yet are open enough to let another man into their lives and their hearts. Oh, to them it’s not that complex, but these matchmakers are definitely the scene-stealers, and the melting hearts of this romance – at least, for me they definitely were.
One stubborn man and one equally stubborn woman are about to fall in love, and the odd thing is that neither seems to mind all that much. One Night with a Cowboy was full of the intense emotional draw that I expect from this author. A world with natural dangers but beauty and peace as well. With laughter, even a few tears, Wes and Thea find their way to their own happiness with the help and shenanigans of two youngsters who know exactly who they want in their lives. I had a blast back in this world with a story that is sizzling in places, heartfelt in others, and overall just right for this couple. If you love a good story that will bring a smile to your face and a sigh to your lips… then you’ll want to pick this story up right now.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Forever via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
ONE NIGHT WITH A COWBOY, book 2 of Sara Richardson’s Silverado Lake series, is about Rodeo cowboy Wes Harding returning home to help out with the ranch’s big charity event. What he didn’t plan is to be distracted by his stubborn co-hostess. One kiss, Thea Davis throws his world chaos. Single mom Thea doesn’t have time for an inexplicable, toe-curling attraction to Wes Harding. Ha, easier said than done! ONE NIGHT WITH A COWBOY is about Wes and Thea letting go of their guilt and moving forward to love. Sara Richardson writes about love, family, and about the characters coming to term and letting go of their pasts to accept love. IT’S ALL ABOUT THAT COWBOY by Carly Bloom is a delightful bonus story about a homecoming queen and the bad-boy-turned-sheriff get a second chance at first love. A sweet, warm romance you don’t want to miss.
This was a touching, heartwarming read that I absolutely loved!!! I love the setting, and the chemistry not only between Thea and Wes, but between Wes and Thea’s kids as well. Can’t wait for the next in the series!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed Sara Richardson’s One Night With A Cowboy, the second novel in the Silverado Lake series. The author has created novel filled with charming characters, honest emotions and a heartwarming storyline.
Wes and Thea are complex characters. Wes Harding is rodeo clown who is on the road constantly until his sister asks him to supervise a special event at the family’s ranch. Guilt and regrets over things unsaid have kept Wes away from the ranch. I loved that there was so much more to Wes’s happy go lucky image. The author decision to have Wes and Ryan bond immediately was a great plot choice as it enabled the reader to connect with both characters.
Sara Richardson is spot on with the mother daughter conflict between Thea and her daughter Liv—the dialogue in these scenes was perfectly written. I loved that the author dug deep with Thea; everyone thought that she had the ideal life when in fact her marriage was anything but perfect. The author portrays Thea’s situation with honesty and emotion. I was drawn to Thea and her determination to raise her children and to continue leading the military treat at Silverado Lake.
I liked the sizzling attraction between Wes and Thea – I could easily imagine the sparks flying! On the surface, Wes and Thea seemed total opposites but, in truth their wants and needs were very much in sync. The author writes a compassionate, heartwarming romance for this couple. Loved the messages of hope, love and redemption found throughout the novel.
One Night With A Cowboy is second chance romance that will tug at your heartstrings. The engaging characters, the relatable conflict and the author’s message resonated with me. One Night With A Cowboy has a special place on my keeper shelf.
I highly recommend this novel and am looking forward to the next book in the series.
After a poor decision when he was younger culminated in a devastating loss for his family, Wes Harding fled his hometown, eventually establishing himself as a top bullfighter on the rodeo circuit. But when his sister needs him, Wes returns to their family’s Colorado ranch to help run their yearly retreat for military families. He didn’t bargain for his sister’s best friend Thea, the co-host of the event, or the longing she soon stirs in him.
Widowed single mom Thea Davis is wholly focused on her two kids and can’t take time to date, even if Wes is incredibly attractive and sweet to her children as well. But her kids have had enough upheaval to deal with and she has to focus on restoring stability into their lives. The more time she spends at the ranch, the more attached both she and her kids become to Wes. But Wes has a reputation for lacking staying power and with limited time it won’t be easy to convince Thea he’s exactly the man she and her kids need.
This book had to grow on me a bit, but I wound up really enjoying it. Both Thea and Wes were wrestling with grief and guilt and found such kindred spirits in one another. Thea desperately needed to lighten up and let go a bit and Wes was perfect to help her do that. I loved the fact that the hero in this one was so intent on having a real and lasting relationship and the heroine was the hesitant one. Thea almost ruined things with her deep-seated fear, but she was a properly mature heroine and able to assess the situation and fix her mistakes, and her grand romantic gesture toward Wes was everything. Wes was utterly adorable and definitely one of my favorite heroes. I also loved the side characters and the bonds they exhibited, as well as the charming small town settling that had me wanting to move to Silverado Lake myself. This book tackled some pretty heavy themes of love and loss and what truly matters in life and Sara Richardson did an excellent job. This was my first book from this author, but now I want to go back and read Jane’s book and look forward to August’s story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Blog link: https://mustreadalltheromance.blogspot.com/2021/03/one-night-with-cowboy-by-sara.html
This book was quite the emotional roller coaster but so worth it! Plus it’s one of my favorite tropes-single parents. Wes agrees to help his sister out with a project on their family ranch for their charity event. He wasn’t prepared to fall for his co-worker Thea who was also doing some work for the charity event. I loved Thea because she worked hard but loved being a mom. She has always been so careful in holding her small family together and was surprised to see how well her kids bonded with Wes. They were only supposed to be in town for a week or so but Wes wants to see if she’ll stay with him forever.
this is the second book in the series with Wes and Thea seeing each other since his sister’s wedding! He’s a rodeo (bull rider) clown and she is a guidance counselor for children and a military widow – both of them are still suffering and grieving from their losses (his father) but find comfort with each other – another great story from Sara! I read a paperback copy!
Wes has come home to help his sister run the family ranch. There he meets widow Thea and her two kids. The attraction between them is strong but Thea is not planning on staying. Sweet story.
Great book! I’ve read all of Sara Richardson’s books and I have enjoyed them all. This is the second book in her Silverado Lake series. The books in this series do not need to be read in order. I highly recommend this book, it also includes a story by Carly Bloom which I loved.
I received this arc for an honest review.
Wes Harding is a rodeo clown, the one who want the bulls to chase them and not the bull riders. I have always thought those guys were just a little bit crazier than the guys riding them. Here he ends up helping his sister Jane who needs to go to the hospital after complications with her pregnancy. Though he has a huge shot at an upcoming event he steps up for his sister to help out with the event at the ranch.
Thea Davis and her two children are coming to the ranch and she is usually the one with the plans of the event for military families. Though her husband was killed three years ago she still plans these and goes to them. Now though when she finds out that her friend Jane is not going to be there, she is not too happy. She is less happy when she arrives a day early and Wes is having a party at the lake with friends. It becomes worse for her the next morning when she discovers that he has changed her itinerary. the families are happy about the changes so she goes along with them.
The story really picks up when Ryan her son ends up banding with Wes. Since they both lost their fathers and Ryan likes to fish and Wes teaches him and talks to him. This ends up to be another one of her contentions when she finds out that her son is talking to him about his father and not her the mother. There is a lot of push back and forth between the two of them and though like the title they do spend one night together things don’t work out for either of them. Each one has to get past, the past of their own pain in order to move forward. The author has done a good job with all of the characters and with each of the separate relationships that go on. A very good story and very much worth the read. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at

I loved everything about this book… Wes as a rodeo clown, Thea and her kids, the families at the retreat, and all of the fun activities and adventures that Wes planned. This is a great series, and I can’t wait to return to Silverado Lake Ranch!
I read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from NetGalley.
Thea Davis is a busy single mom whose soul focus is the health and well being of her children… certainly not love, or the way a handsome sweet cowboy makes her heart skip a beat. Meeting a man like Wes Harding was totally unexpected, he swept into town to save his families ranch and wound up stealing her and children’s hearts too. She knows letting someone new into their lives is a risk she shouldn’t take, but the smiles he puts on her kids faces make her second guess her thoughts on that.
One Night with a Cowboy is a feel good western romance that will leave you smiling and your heart feeling a nice little squeeze! Thea wasn’t looking for love, but love found her, in the form of a handsome caring cowboy. The moment she met Wes Harding there were sparks, but giving into said sparks was something she couldn’t afford to do. She is a single mom with a long list of priorities and her love life is pretty far down on that list. Learning she would be working with Wes on the charity event made her more than a little nervous because she would have to try and keep her head and not fall for his charming personality. But as we all know when love gets involved it’s pretty much useless to fight it.
There was so much to love about this story, the romance blooming between Thea and Wes, Wes winning over her children, and of course them becoming one happy little family. This was such a heartfelt and uplifting story, and wonderful addition to the Silverado Lake series. Highly recommend you take a chance on this one, it’s perfectly penned words are destined to leave your heart happy!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
When I first started this book it felt like I had read it before, which yes I know its new so that’s impossible. However after a few pages in, that change and the author did a really great job of taking you on an emotional journey through Thea and Wes’ life. I really like both characters equally. I feel like when an author makes the characters relatable and feel like friends you know you are in for a book that will keep your attention. I think one of my favorite lines in the book is “He Lived to spend time with his family.” I feel this sums up the book and it shows how powerful a choice can be when you make it. This is some sexual content in this book, Over all I would read this one again it was emotional, but also found myself laughing too. Friendship is the key in the book. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
One Night with a Cowboy is the second novel in Sara Richardson’s Silverado Lake series, and since I seem to be on a cowboy kick lately, I was eager to read it, and I am veyy glad I did. It’s a sweet, well-written, second chance at love novel and it gets 4 stars from this reader.
Thea is a military widow, and her marriage was a rocky one. Just before her husband left on his next deployment, the last thing she said to him was that she wanted a divorce–words she wished she could take back, since he was killed in action 3 years ago., leaving her a widow with a 13-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old son. After seeking some counseling, she’s devoted herself to meeting with other military families and discussing the issues they all face, and, once a year, she takes them on a 10-day retreat to the Silverado Lake Ranch, which is where she meets Weston (Wes) Harding, an excellent rodeo bull-fighter, who steps in to lead the retreat in place of his 7 months’ pregnant sister, Jane, Thea’s former college roommate, who was just rushed to the hospital and who will be unable to lead the guests at this year’s retreat.
Wes was always considered the wild, flighty, and irresponsible one in his family. He never thought he could live up to the standards set by his two siblings, and in lieu of a regular job, joined the rodeo and traveled from event to event, becoming well-known for his skill set and only returning to the ranch during the off season, never considering a more traditional and safer profession. He’s his own worst critic, and carries a giant load of guilt and regret, blaming himself for not being there when his father died. Since Thea is also plagued with guilt for her last words to her husband, these two have more in common than they first realize, as well as sharing a mutual attraction to one another.
Told in dual narration, a literary device I love, we readers get the inside scoop on what these two engaging and troubled characters are thinking and feeling. We also get to see how Thea’s son, Ryan, latches onto to Wes almost immediately, and it’s not surprising to realize that he’s been missing a father figure in his life, something Thea notices from the start. She too is attracted to the handsome and charming Wes, but in her 3 years as a widow, hasn’t even considered dating, let alone another relationship.
This novel is deeply emotional and written with great sensitivity. At its heart, this is a novel of love and loss, guilt and redemption, hurt and healing, and I’m happy to recommend it.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of the novel. The opinions expressed are my own.
Thea lost her husband few years ago. She has two kids.
Wes, is trying to prove something….
When they meet, she doesn’t want to be attracted to him….until the kiss.
I did enjoy their story, loved Thea’s kids.
Don’t forget! Come back to your Review on t
Enjoyable addition to the Silverado Lake series. Thea was such a great mom to Liv and Ryan. Loved watching their family expand to include Wes. Thea and Wes had a great connection and chemistry. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC received via NetGalley.
Hopeful, emotional, and charming!
One Night with a Cowboy is a delightfully heartwarming tale that sweeps you away to the beautiful mountains of Colorado and into the lives of Wes Harding, the rugged, hardworking bullfighter, and Thea Davies, the military widow and mother of two as they both learn together how to heal and move on from the guilt, grief, and regrets they harbour over their individual losses.
The writing is smooth and fluid. The characters are multi-layered, genuine, and considerate. And the plot is a sweet, engaging mix of tender moments, self-discovery, temptation, friendship, family, happiness, chemistry, and love.
One Night with a Cowboy is another adorable, addictive, compassionate addition to the Silverado Lake series by Richardson, and as always, after I finish any of her books, I’m already looking forward to reading whatever she publishes next.
Thea lost her husband three years ago during his military service. She works with other families who also have someone who is serving or who has served in the military. They work together to support each other through the challenges of being military families.
Wes lost his father years ago to an outdoors accident. He buries himself in his work as a rodeo cowboy. They have become like family to him on the circuit.
Thea brings the families to a ranch in Colorado for a retreat. Wes comes back to the family ranch to help with the retreat after his sister’s pregnancy takes an unexpected turn and she can’t be at the ranch.
Wes and Thea need to work together to make the retreat the best it can be. Can they both work through their past challenges and learn to work together, even like each other?
Sara Richardson delivers another incredible story. With amazing characters and a great plot, this book is hard to put down.
Richardson creates true to life characters against a realistic background that makes you see the story unfold as you’re reading it.
