With no money and no title, Giles has nothing to offer but his heart…Felicity Sutton knows poverty firsthand, and she’s never going back. Lady Felicity, sister to Cole, the Duke of Colehaven, is not your typical Lady. At four and twenty, this must be her last season. She has promised her brother she will find a man to wed before the season is over.
Cole and Felicity grew up poor and parentless. They know what it is like to not have a place to call home, food in your belly or clothes to wear. They worked together in a smithy to survive and Felicity has become quite the lady mechanic. Her love of working on carraiges hasn’t stopped. Then, in a surprising chain of events, Cole inherits and becomes the Duke of Colehaven. They no longer have the worries from their former poverty. Felicity has vowed to form a foundation to help the children who need help Her brother has written a clause into her betrothal contract that will allow her to use her bridal settlement to fund her foundation. So far, every suiter has rejected it.
Challenged to a chariot race, Cole consulted with Giles, who is otherwise known as the Currical King. Together, he and Felicity are to ready Cole’s chariot and make it the best so that he can win. But while working together, the two find that there is more to each other than they have thought.
This is a sweet story. I enjoyed seeing how their relationship grows.
This is a thrilling, romantic and intriguing story that is full of action and drama. Felicity is trying to find a husband, but the man must agree to her demand about giving to charities, with the hope of starting a foundation for children, but as yet she hasn’t found one. She has one last man that interested her, Lord Raymore, a wealthy, older man whom she likes. But that’s her night job, her day job is the design and maintenance of her brother Cole’s racing carriage. She’s the reason he wins, but he’s given her one last race to ready for before she must give it up and be a lady full time. Giles is the best carriage driver, he never loses, so Cole hires him for the race, and then tells him that he must work with Felicity on the carriage. At first he isn’t pleased, but the longer he’s around her, the more he likes and respects her. He also earns her admiration, he’s the only person besides her brother who likes her as her, and he’s a kind, generous and caring man. It’s the perfect match for both of them, but Cole wants Felicity to marry well, and she wants wealth to spread. The end of the story is unexpected, and the best part is when she walks into Wicked Duke. This whole series belongs on everyone’s TBR list.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
I smiled reading page after page. I could not help it. This is such a feel-good book. A delight to read. It is about what is important in life love or money. The Duke of Colehaven’s sister, Lady Felicity, has a past she does not want to forget. She has made a vow and is determined to keep it. Even if it means marrying for the sake of keeping her vow. When an untitled gentleman, with a successful smithy comes into her life, she feels the freedom to be herself and to fall in love. But what of her vow? How can she reconcile marrying for love and yet not being able to keep her vow? This is a heartwarming story of self-discovery, following your heart and still win everything in the end. I truly enjoyed reading this and heartily recommend it. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I enjoyed the story of Felicity and Giles a little too much. It is funny, unpredictable and thrilling.
I fell in love with Giles who was not in the market for a romance, but unexpectedly find love with the society lady, or a Lady mechanic.
I liked Felicity, because her past forged her cold and hard as iron, strong and unbreakable, and because of that past she would do anything to help children who could not help themselves.
She was not in the market for love poems, she would marry wealthy, titled lord just to have opportunity to make difference. But…..Giles will show her that pots of gold and blue-blood titles aren’t the only characteristics you should look for in a man.
Recommendation for all who love reading funny and romantic stories.
This is the 5th book in the series “The Wicked Dukes”. It is nice to read the whole series, but this book can be read alone. This book is about Giles who is a blacksmith and an expert at carriages and Felicity who is the sister of a Duke, and also an expert at carriages. They meet and bond over fixing Felicity’s brother carriage, but Felicity is very afraid of being poor again so she tries to fight her feelings for Giles and marry someone with money and a title. I loved the fact that Giles let Felicity be who she was, wear any cloths she wants. He accepts her for just being her. I have enjoyed this book and all the other books and the series and I know you will too.
Giles has built up his shop by keeping the carriages of the rich in prime shape. He also supplements his income by racing his own carriage, and can’t be beat. Felicity, or “Felix”, grew up poor and working as a blacksmith. Though her brother is now a Duke, she does not want to give up her smithy work, so has to do it in secret. When these two get together to work on her brother’s carriage, there is more smoldering than the smithy fire. I received an arc of this book.
There’s probably nothing remotely historically accurate in the relationship between our hero and heroine, but that didn’t stop me from loving every minute of it. The chemistry between Giles and Felicity is explosive from the very first moment we see them together. It’s easy to see why this pairing should never work, and why they’re perfect for one another. In fact, they broke my heart a couple times through the course of this book when they kept refusing to see just how perfect they are for one another. I’m so glad they were able to finally able to get their heads (and hearts) on straight.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author
5th book in the Wicked Dukes Series
Tells the story of Lady Felicity, sister to Duke of Colehaven who we met in book 1. When growing up Felicity and Cole were poor relations and after losing their parents lived on the streets. They found employment at a smithy, where Felicity, known as Felix discovered a love of the mechanics of coach design.
Now a lady she is desperately seeking a wealthy man to marry as she doesn’t want to return to the poverty of her childhood, and also to be allowed to build a charity to support the orphaned children in London, so they never suffer as she did. There is only one person suitable who might allow it to be written into their betrothal contract that she be allowed to spend her money on charity.
At a society event, Colehaven accepts a challenge to a carriage race, so employs a top driver to represent him. When Giles Langford (The Curricle King), an experienced smithy comes to meet Colehaven at his carriage house he discovers Lady Felicity working on her brother’s racing curricle (which she helped design), her brother wants Felicity and Giles to work together to get the curricle ready for the race in 2 weeks. So, they spend more and more time together, Giles allows her to work in men’s clothes for comfort, and the attraction builds between them rapidly.
Giles isn’t ready for marriage until his business is more firmly established, and Felicity can’t quite let go of her dream of a wealthy and titled partner, and not wanting to disappoint her brother.
The story builds up in tension to the curricle race, and they expect never to see each other again. This book is part of a series but works well as a stand alone book.
Lovely characters, but whole premise is a little absurd, it would never happen, hence not 5* if I could give 4.5* I would.
One Night to Remember, the fifth story about the unforgettable men of The Wicked Duke tavern, is fast-paced, exciting, and entertaining. Giles Langford, the most sought after carriage mechanic and probably the best racer in London, and Lady Felicity Sutton, the sister of the Duke of Colehaven, meet when the Duke insists that they work together to make sure his curricle is ready for an upcoming race. Felicity is thrilled. Giles is not so happy about the arrangement, but what the Duke wants, the Duke gets. Felicity and her brother grew up in a smithy, and it doesn’t take long for Giles to realize she is a better mechanic than most. Giles and Felicity are fun to watch. As they work together, they come to admire each other. They have much in common. Both are smart and industrious, kind and caring. They agree on the value of helping others, especially children. These two are made for each other if they could just get past a few obstacles. They might be falling in love, but nothing can come of it. Cole is the only family Felicity has ever known, and she wants to please him and make him proud. He wants her to make a “good” match. She wants to establish a charity for children who are growing up in the same conditions she and her brother did. That means she must marry a peer, the higher ranking the better, doesn’t it? The race and the romance – how does everything work out? One Night to Remember is another winner in this series. Don’t miss it.
Giles is in for the surprise of his life when he meets Felicity and the surprises just keep coming!!!!!
This is a book you will want to keep to read over and over again.
Another splendid addition to the Wicked Dukes series!
Felicity and her brother had a hardscrabble childhood until he unexpectedly inherited a dukedom. Felicity never forgot her roots, nor did she ever give up the skills she’d acquired as a child. When Cole hires the famed coach smith, Giles Langford, to make sure his curricle is ready for an upcoming race, he insists that Giles work alongside his in-house mechanic, his sister Felicity.
Meanwhile, Felicity is trying to find a titled husband who will offer her both the security she needs and the freedom to run a foundation to help children who are struggling the way she did years ago. Working with Giles, however, makes her realize that she misses some aspects of her simple childhood, before the expectations and rules of high society became the driving force in her life.
The story beautifully demonstrates the dignity to be found in all classes of society, and presents a cast of characters who are true to their hearts, regardless of their social standing. It’s definitely a unique spin on the usual Regency romance, written so superbly that it brings credit to all the characters in this fictional world. Felicity’s spirited determination was expertly developed, and while Giles was a swoon-worthy hero in his own right, the story belongs to Felicity and she shines from start to finish. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
One Night To Remember is book 5 in the Wicked Dukes Club Regency Romance series by Erica Ridley. This book was charming. Giles Langford is called the Curricle King because he is a notorious whip and coach smith. He has never lost a race and has a thriving business fixing carriages in his black smith shop. Lady Felicity Sutton has a hidden talent of fixing her brother the Duke of Colehaven’s curricle. When the Duke is challenged to a race, he turns to Langford to fix up his curricle to win it but only if Langford agrees to let Lady Felicity assist him. Once together sparks fly. But Lady Felicity has her own agenda – one that can not include Giles Langford.
“To her consternation, Felicity was no longer mentally cataloguing the size and width of the wheels or the length of the splinter bar and breeching dee, but staring after Giles Langford. The man looked like a god of chariots. He had no prayer of blending with high society, nor any desire to try. He didn’t need to. He was precisely who and what he appeared to be.” I enjoyed this book. Of course it is highly unlikely that a Duke’s sister would wed a blacksmith. But historical romance is for dreaming not for reality. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I was gifted a copy of this book.
Wonderful story! Lady Felicity must marry a wealthy Lord in order to start a foundation for poor children. Giles is a wildly popular blacksmith with no title in sight. Being together is unimaginable.
I love how this tale shows the importance of being yourself and of accepting others. Sweet romance, perfect dialogue, fun plot, and exciting ending. Bravo!
This book takes on a different topic but it is rather interesting. This is for 18 years and older……Felicity needs stability in marrying well. She loves Giles, a Smithy. Do they share one night to remember? How do things work out? …..Read this great book.
Erica Ridley’s latest addition to the Wicked Duke Club series she and Darcy Burke have alternately written, is another entertaining read with engaging characters, a plausible plot, witty dialogue, and a sweet/spicy romance. Felicity Sutton, the younger sister of Caleb (Cole), the Duke of Colehaven, has vowed to never experience again the old life she and her brother survived when growing up. She plans to marry a lord who can provide for her and won’t mind if she gets involved in charitable works, to help the poor and downtrodden. Her brother assigns her the task of jointly working with Giles Langford, the notorious “Curricle King,” on his custom-made curricle which he has entered in a heavily betted on and greatly anticipated race. Felicity and Cole grew up poor, working in a smithy before he became Duke. Giles has his own smithy and soon finds out Felicity is a very talented mechanic herself. Giles is instantly attracted to the lively, confident Felicity but knows there is little hope of a permanent relationship with her. She, in turn, is attracted to Giles but is determined to please her brother and pick a wealthy lord that fulfills her requirements. It is entrancing how the relationship progresses between Giles and Felicity. He accepts her for what she is and how she grew up and doesn’t expect her to fit some preconceived notion of how she must act and what is expected of her. Felicity has a harder time accepting herself and feels she must give up everything having to do with her past life. The resolution to their conundrum is sweet and spicy.
Though One Night to Remember is part of a series, it still can be read as a standalone, even though there are characters that have appeared in previous works in the series. I have greatly enjoyed reading this work as well as all the previous offerings and encourage others who are looking for fun, light-hearted, sweetly spicy Regency tales, to consider this series. I voluntarily read an ARC of this work and my review is based upon my opinions of what I read.
I love every book in this series, and this is one of the best. The character’s are different then most Recency’s romances.
Giles Langford is well liked by all, known as The Curricle King, for his racing and winning. The Ladies swoon over him, the men like his skill. He has not title but has wealth due to his racing. He is happy with his life and his smithy.
Felicity Sutton is the sister of the now Duke of Colehaven. Both her and Cole grew up very poor, never knowing when the next meal would be or where they would sleep. When Cole become the Duke everything changed for the best.
Only Felicity has had a really hard time forgetting the past and how it was. She liked the smithy where they worked as she is has great mechanical abilities and has since been working on her brothers Curricle ,
Now she must dress like and act like a lady all the time. Cole wants her to marry a titled gentleman, a Duke or Earl
and has given her till the end of the season.
When Cole makes a bet to race his curricle in two weeks, he puts both Giles and Felicity to work on making it the best.
What follows is great the chemistry between these two from the start is fun. How they work together and understand each others needs and wants, yes it has a sexy side. But works well in the story.
I read it in one day, just can’t put it down… I know you will love it.
I received and ARC of this book from the Author and am giving my honest thoughts … Be sure and get a copy
Only bad thing about this series is they are over too soon…
A funny story, full of surprises and unexpected situations.
The sister of a duke that love to work in smith… and can’t forget her childhood…
A young man… rich, but not a lord…
a common job with a purpose… and children to help…
A story what will warm your heart and kept reading until the end!
I confess I didn’t like Felicity at the beginning. I found her to be calculated and cold but as the story started to reveal it self you come to understand her reason for wanting to be a part of the Ton and what it represents. I loved that she was a brilliant mechanical and had the support of her brother. As for Giles; I found him to be a great man. Not only was he taking care of his parents, he was also very much involved in helping young men and women finding their spot in the world. I loved him for supporting Felicity even knowing she would never be his but that didn’t stop him from loving her.
I’ve finished this book in one sitting not caring what was happening around me. This series has become one of my favorites because I’ve jet to read one where I didn’t fall in love with the MC’s and their road to HEA.

Great!
These stories just keep on getting better and better!
In this one I really loved the to and fro of the jovial communication between Felicity and Giles.
The story (as with the others in this outstanding series) is well plotted out and written, tastefully seductive and has enough entertainment value to keep one turning the pages (long after bed-time, I might add).
The characters have wonderful personalities and their wit and friendliness becomes very endearing as the story progresses.
I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this book and am happy to recommend it to you.
I requested and read an Advance Reader Copy and my unbiased review is given voluntarily.
