A fiery new enemies-to-lovers, second chance stand-alone romance from #1 NYT Bestseller Lauren Blakely!Lucas Xavier is the last person I want to spend 24 hours with, let alone two minutes. Exes are exes for a reason. In his case, for a million reasons. Because he’s not only an ex-lover, he’s also an ex-friend. We didn’t just break up – we combusted in a spectacular bonfire of barbs and doors … barbs and doors slammed.
Nothing will change that. Not his clever wit, not his ridiculous good looks, not his unfair levels of charm. And definitely not a wild dash through the city that takes us on an accidental scavenger hunt through our past, where we stop for a tango lesson, pancakes and a visit with some llamas.
And certainly not time together to make amends and say we’re sorry.
But, let’s say that was enough…it’s not like you can fall in love in 24 hours.
Can you?
Indulge in the BOYFRIEND MATERIAL series! Three best friends. Three outrageous proposals. Three chances to fall in love. Three brand new standalones from Lauren Blakely! ONE NIGHT STAND-IN is a standalone romance in this series!

This was a fun and quick romcom. It had many of my favorite tropes, including second chance, friends/enemies to lovers, and some forced proximity. Lauren Blakely always does a wonderful job pulling on your heart strings, while also bringing all the laughs and heat. Lucas and Lola have history together and what could have been an amazing start to something more ended up crashing and burning thanks to egos and youth. Now it’s nearly 10 years later and a clever scavenger hunt throws them together again. I loved seeing the sparks fly between them, but also their walls come crashing down. They had sizzling chemistry and it was refreshing to have both characters be so open about their sexuality, wants, and desires. The misunderstanding that ruined their friendship was fairly minor in my eyes, but I can understand how it wouldn’t be to a 21 year old. The clues and scavenger hunt were a fun twist to the story and kept the action going, but I did feel that things stalled a bit after Lola and Lucas decided to be friends again. Overall, this was an enjoyable romcom and I loved the appearances by the previous couples/heroines.
*I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book*
Ms Lauren Blakely wrote another amazing book!
I loved Lucas and Lola. After 10 years apart and thinking its easier to hate each other, they realize in 24 hours that its better to love each other. i loved their banter and how they figured out the clues.
i wish we received more information on Harrison. Also i wasnt a huge fan on the last chapter. Didnt have enough details. just kind of went hey their friends got married, they danced and got engaged. but i would still read it again.
A Lauren Blakely novel never disappoints and I loved reading the rekindling relationship between Lola and Lucas in this second chance romantic comedy!
Two friends that had the potential to be more back in college, but due to a falling out they didn’t, but here we are ten years later and with a crazy night ahead of them filled with one amazing scavenger hunt they have a chance to rekindle, make amends and possibly find something they lost a long time ago.
I adore Blakely’s books for being low drama, high on fun, and they always make me feel good. I’m guaranteed to laugh out loud and potentially blush every single time so seriously, what is NOT to love!!
“My device often has the gall to remind me of my fitness inadequacies with occasional notifications, like You’ve only walked two miles today, to which I say, Fuck you, phone, I can berate myself just fine, thank you very much.”
I have a FitBit and yes, I too get annoyed. Yet, I wear it everyday and I have panicked, seriously panicked when I have forgotten to wear it. The day did not exist!! I also had to stop and think what is wrong with me? while also fudging the numbers on my app to make sure the day did exist, because who else would know if not my fitbit (I mean it tells me everything else LOL)…I love that I can snort laugh through these moments with Lauren’s characters.
Okay, back to them. Lola and Lucas are another gem couple that you will fall in love with. Their scavenger hunt is fun and really made me wish I had one to do in my immediate future. Lauren Blakely brings out the fun and certainly made me miss my girlfriends.
While each book in the Boyfriend Material series is a standalone, they do work wonderfully together. Each is different, but also awesome in their own way.
What I also love about this series is that these three best friends have not only found their mates but that each one is also somehow connected to the writing industry. Whether an editor, a graphic designer, or a blogger they are all interconnected and supportive of each other. It is a great sisterhood. One of my favorite series of Blakely’s yet.
I love Lauren Blakely’s books, but One Night Stand-In is hands down one of the best books I’ve read from her recently. I loved the lightness, the characters, the banter and the overall story.
Lola and Lucas were friends in college, on the verge of starting something more, when a giant misunderstanding happened and forever changed their relationship….for 10 years. Unfortunately for them, their younger siblings are dating and in love and need their help. Can 24 hours change everything?
Lola and Lucas have so much chemistry and I was living for it. They started off their journey as enemies with some hilarious banter, then moved to friends with hilarious banter, and finally they realized they were each other’s missing pieces.
I LOVED the scavenger hunt idea, so much. It was so much fun and lead to so many hilarious moments between them. They were able to learn so much more about their siblings, but also about themselves and their relationship.
One Night Stand-In is a MUST READ for anyone looking for a light hearted laugh out loud rom com.
Lauren never disappoints with her stories! This one will have you laughing out loud, while also swooning with your main characters! Get ready for the fun in this great story that follows Lola & Lucas as they try to recover all their siblings belongings that their landlord has left all over the city!
5 bright stars for this one! Grab it asap!
Another boyfriend winner from Lauren!
This is the 3rd story in the Boyfriend Material series and this one is just as good as the other two. I don’t know how Lauren can keep writing such great stories, but I’m glad she does. This is a very fast paced story that happens over a 24 hour period with Lola and Lucas, who were friends in college and were on the verge of becoming more when their friendship fell apart. They are now thrown together on a scavenger hunt for their siblings who are in a relationship together. They quickly learn that the chemistry between them never went away and once they start working on the scavenger hunt it just grows from there. I loved these two together and the way that they were so comfortable with each other and how they both had a love of art and drawing. And let’s not forget the smoking hot chemistry these two had for each other. Love it!! If you haven’t read this story yet, I don’t know what you are waiting for. Trust me, you’ll love it!!
Do you think you can fall in love in 24 hours? I absolutely loved this book. Started it at lunch today and couldn’t put it down, so much that I didn’t get much work done today. Great characters and story!! Another 5 star for Lauren Blakely!!
4.5+ stars
This book is a journey for two people who were once college friends with possibilities, then rivals, and are now being enlisted to work together on a special project. This could be bad or maybe it could be good. But in twenty-four hours or less they will find out.
Lola Dumont is a successful graphic artist and book cover designer. She is just starting her own business as well as working with her friend, Amy at a publishing house. She is in charge, controlled, and organized. But she also is vibrant and has a bold streak.
Lucas Xavier is also a graphic artist and her competition at times. They were the best of friends just on the brink of something more when he let her down and their friendship was a casualty.
They are called in to do crisis management by their wilder, younger siblings who happen to be a couple. They need their older sibs to work together and gather some things they need but are unable to handle themselves. So Lola and Lucas’s worlds are colliding again, but they are willing to do anything to help the younger ones. He is still charming, witty, and sexy as hell.
They both have unresolved emotions and regrets over their past. They had convinced themselves they hated the other. But it does not take long to realize how much of that anger and resentment is also mixed with hurt, disappointment, guilt, and loss. They have a better understanding now that they are more mature, but they also both have fear and anxiety over making mistakes again. And each of their pasts has also colored how they see relationships.
Can twenty-four hours change everything? Will they at least be able to end this adventure as friends this time? Or is there a possibility of finally taking that next step?
This is a quirky and entertaining scavenger hunt adventure that leads to reconnection, self-discovery, and facing the past. It is told in dual points of view and deals with responsibility, trust, vulnerability, friendship, unresolved feelings, and risk versus reward. I really loved both of these characters. They had a connection they had been denying while trying to live on the periphery and not making contact. But now that they have reconnected, the blinders are off.
The premise was fresh, unique, and a whole lot of fun. I enjoyed the side characters of their whimsical siblings, Luna and Rowen, friends Amy, Peyton, Marley, Reid, and the man who started it all.
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review
The newest rom-com from Lauren Blakely, One Night Stand-In, is fast paced. The majority of the story takes place over a 24 hour period. Can you really fall in love that quick? Lucas and Lola were college friends on the verge of more. Through a misunderstanding and being stubborn young adults, their friendship and the potential for more is lost. Ironically, their siblings are currently in a relationship and need their help(Lucas and Lola) to retrieve personal items which have been moved all over New York. To get their rent deposit back their stuff must be recovered within 24 hours. While on this most unusual scavenger hunt Lola and Lucas realize what they did wrong in their past and see a possible future. Apologies are given and the sexual chemistry just oozes out. Lucas is just plain HOT with a heart-of-gold. Lola is a beautiful, strong, and loving woman. Lucas and Lola both would do just about anything for their younger siblings because of their childhoods. There are twists and turns that I didn’t see coming which makes the story fun and keeps you guessing. I seriously doubt you will figure it out. Again I ask, can you fall in love in 24 hours? Really enjoyed this story, a great combination of heart and a LOT of heat, both in and out of the bedroom. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. 5 stars.
