A fiery new enemies-to-lovers, second chance stand-alone romance from #1 NYT Bestseller Lauren Blakely!Lucas Xavier is the last person I want to spend 24 hours with, let alone two minutes. Exes are exes for a reason. In his case, for a million reasons. Because he’s not only an ex-lover, he’s also an ex-friend. We didn’t just break up – we combusted in a spectacular bonfire of barbs and doors … barbs and doors slammed.
Nothing will change that. Not his clever wit, not his ridiculous good looks, not his unfair levels of charm. And definitely not a wild dash through the city that takes us on an accidental scavenger hunt through our past, where we stop for a tango lesson, pancakes and a visit with some llamas.
And certainly not time together to make amends and say we’re sorry.
But, let’s say that was enough…it’s not like you can fall in love in 24 hours.
Can you?
Indulge in the BOYFRIEND MATERIAL series! Three best friends. Three outrageous proposals. Three chances to fall in love. Three brand new standalones from Lauren Blakely! ONE NIGHT STAND-IN is a standalone romance in this series!

One of the things I love about Lauren Blakely’s books is that it’s always fun, steamy and keeps you glued to the pages.
Two of my favorite troupes in one book made this book one of my favorite reads from Ms. Blakely. Enemies to lovers & second chance romance.
Lucas and Lola’s story will give you all feels! After their relationship crashed and burned 10 years ago, they’re thrown together for a scavenger hunt and sparks fly!!
Loved this book and can’t wait to see what’s next!
4.5 It Takes Two To Tango Stars!
I loved this electrifying, and sexy, enemies to lovers, second chance romance! This unique and intriguing story captured me right from page one and never let go. Lucas and Lola share not only a heartbreaking past, they also share younger siblings who are madly in love with each other! Lucas and Lola both feel responsible for them, and get roped into helping them recover their property after a quirky landlord hides it all. Lucas and Lola were college best friends who shared a hot passionate moment. They made plans to take their relationship further the next day, only to have unforeseen events get in the way. Neither handled the heartbreaking disappointment well, and they soon became rival enemies. Now years later, they are still rivals, but they reluctantly agree to work together on a scavenger hunt to recover their siblings prized possessions. I loved watching them work together so skillfully, playing off each others strengths. The longer they worked together, the more they remembered what drew them to each other in the first place. They soon realize that they are not bound by youth and pride any longer and can own up to their true feelings. This story was so much fun, and I loved the thrill of trying to figure out the clues which kept me totally engaged from start to finish. The banter between Lucas and Lola is fun and flirty and their chemistry is explosive! A favorite part for me is that Blakely always loves to give us fun pov’s and epilogues with great twists that make me very happy! I really enjoyed all of the romances in this Boyfriend Material series.
I loved Lucas and Lola’s second chance at romance in the third book in the Boyfriend Material Series by Lauren Blakely! I loved all 3 books in this series and this was no exception. The scavenger hunt aspect of this book made this a very unique, fun experience for the reader. And as usual, this author knows how to write the slow burn, swoony hero and Lucas certainly fits the bill. Another entertaining, fun rom com from this author. Definitely recommend reading all 3 books.
Sarcastic, clever and original! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
This fun second chance romance has so much going for it! Lola and Lucas are thrown together to help their siblings out of a jam. What they find is a rekindled friendship that soars to the clouds of love. Sarcastic, clever, original and full of heart…..
5 stars of love in the stars!
An friends to enemies to lovers book.
This book was based on two best friends in college who tried to become move but eventually didn’t get a first date. Years later they are forced to come together to go on a scavenger hunt for their siblings.
Lucas is a cocky, arrogant and moody guy who designs covers for books. He will do anything for his baby brother so when he calls him to collect some of his belongings their landlord has left all over the city, he agrees to collect them.
Lola works in the same field but owns her own company. She also loves her sister more than anything and also agrees to help her since she is with the brother of her ex Lucas. Neither of them have had great role models when it comes to love so they are both hesitant to fall in love.
Both Lucas and Lola agree to 24 hours to find their siblings belongings. Will they rekindle the friendship they had and they way the felt about each other?
This book is funny and filled with lots of chemistry.
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**
Lauren Blakely has a way of drawing you into her stories from the get-go with engaging characters and storylines and One Night Stand-In was no exception. This second-chance romance had me from the outset.
Lola Dumont is a graphic designer and book cover artist. She’s just starting her own business and continues to work with her friend Amy at the publishing house. She’s independent, smart and isn’t afraid to be who she is.
Lucas Xavier has known Lola since college when they had an almost relationship. They went from close to rivals as Lucas is now a graphic designer as well and the two sometime find themselves in competition with one another.
When Lola’s sister and Lucas’ brother, who are dating, send word to their siblings that they need their help to go on a scavenger hunt to find their belongings, things get really interesting! They are forced to work together and they reconnect over the 24 hours they have to find the items. They examine their feelings for one another, find out things about themselves and learn to trust again. Will this bring these two to the conclusion that they are better together rather than apart?
I really enjoyed this book and it’s one I would definitely recommend. Lauren Blakely never leads us astray with her fantastic stories!
4.5 stars
There is no one Lola wants to spend the day with less than Lucas. They were once best friends, but haven’t been on friendly terms in a very long time. If not for their younger siblings’ relationship they probably wouldn’t have to see each other ever again. But this time, their siblings need their help and neither are willing to stand by when they can help out, even if it means spending time together. The scavenger hunt they have to participate in to collect Luna and Rowan’s belongings would have been tough enough for the pair actually involved in the events, but because Lola and Lucas weren’t actually there for most of the events, it’s a bit of a guessing game to figure out where the items might be hidden.
This was a lighthearted, fun affair from the very beginning. They have a history that both have avoided dealing with in the years since college. But they also had a strong friendship before their falling out that causes them to miss the other, even as they remember the hurt that drove them apart. Being forced together to find Luna and Rowan’s belongings makes them face the events that put the distance between them, especially as it becomes clear that they still have so much in common.
I loved the side characters, both those directly involved in the action and those on the periphery. The role they play in pushing these two former friends back together added the piece that this story needed to make it truly unique.
Great second chance story with awesome characters, another great book by Miss Blakely!
Lola and Lucas met in college. They were really good friends. Until the kiss, the request for a date, and him standing her up. They lost their friendship after that.
Current day… they get thrown together in a very odd way, one they are uncomfortable with, but because they love their siblings and would do anything for them.. they go through with it. During this time together, they each think about the past and what happened… and each decide they want to remain friends.
What happens when the past colors every encounter?
This is a great read! Lauren Blakely is so good at developing characters and storylines that make you want to read them! I have loved every book of hers I have read, and will continue to read them!!!
5 stars and I encourage everyone to read this!!!
Lola Dumont has been recruited to rescue her younger sister and her boyfriend’s prized, personal possessions, but so has Lucas Xavier, her former college friend and current nemesis. When the couple embarks on a scavenger hunt around NYC to find their siblings’ stuff, they’ll come face to face with not only each other, but with the demons that still haunt them after 10 years.
I think Ms. Blakely’s books only get better the more she writes and this one sure met the mark. It has the right balance of fun, sexy, romantic and heartfelt. A second chance story of a couple who was and still is afraid to fall in love, but that years later decide to take a leap of faith.
Great writing paired with a spot on original set up and a landlord you want to hate but will end up loving, One Night Stand-In is another hit by the undeniable queen of the modern Rom-Com.
5 wishing upon stars
It took me one night to fall in love with this book! 5 stars
Oh my goodness! This book made me smile then laugh in the very first chapter, and I knew I was going to be entertained for the whole book! And I was right! Lola and Lucas met in college, and they were friends first. Then they were more than friends for one night, but it all went wrong after that night due to extenuating circumstances. It also went wrong because they were young, foolish and scared. They weren’t friends anymore, so they became enemies. Fast forward 10 years, and Lola’s sister and Lucas’ brother are a couple. More extenuating circumstances occur, and Lucas and Lola need to scavenger hunt for their sibling’s personal belongings all over the city in a weekend. This was their chance to clear the air about 10 years ago, but they had still had chemistry. So they decide to get each other out of their systems (if you know what I mean!), then go back to being friends. Lola was smart, strong, bold, loyal, confident, yet she was scared about falling in love because of her parents. I adored her! Lucas was confident, smart, sexy, loyal, sometimes grumpy, yet he was also scared to fall in love because of his parents. I loved him, and he made me swoon! But what happens when they both realize they were in love 10 years ago and fell in love again in 24 hours? A sweet, sexy, quick, entertaining story about a couple getting a much deserved second chance at love that I fell in love with in one night!

A dash of charm goes a long way in tempting the heart. Blakely knows how to ignite the senses. One Night Stand-in is a little bit naughty a whole lot of funny and even manages to squeeze in a smidge of heartwarming. Lola and Lucas have to face an unfinished past, if they ever hope to have a chance at a future. What seems like an uphill battle becomes a road map to forever with a few curveballs thrown in along the way. Blakely makes every moment count. That’s what makes her characters so irresistible.
Good sports Lola and Lucas take on a scavenger hunt around NYC.
If you can ignore the improbability of the premise, the rest of the book is divine. Lola and Lucas, friends in college until “that one night,” are roped into helping their younger siblings – who are blissfully in love – by finding their possessions after they were evicted with no notice by a landlord who was tired of their bickering. The clues to each of the five places where some of their stuff is hidden all revolve around a disagreement that our young couple has had, requiring Lola and Lucas to practically read the minds of the couple in question who are currently on a cruise and therefore completely unavailable for questions. Why they didn’t just call a lawyer or the police is beyond me, but of course if they had, Lola and Lucas wouldn’t have been forced to spend time together and subsequently rekindle their romance.
It took me longer than I would have liked to move past my “why are you letting this landlord get away with this?” frustration, but once I did I was fully able to enjoy the romance itself. Lola and Lucas are clearly made for each other, and their spark and chemistry really made it easy to root for them. This author’s proven talent for finding the humor and poignant insights in everyday situations is on full display here, resulting in a story that will make you laugh and make you think at the same time. And as a bonus, we get a llama vs. alpaca debate that was absolutely adorable.
Having met Lola in the earlier Boyfriend Material books, I was delighted to read her story and rejoice in her HEA. The resolution to the whole landlord story gave Harrison far more than he deserved, but was a nice touch nonetheless. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
One Night Stand-In by Lauren Blakely
One Night Stand-In is the much awaited third book in the Boyfriend Material series which follows three best friends. It’s the story of Lola and her love to hate/hate to love, not quite ex, Lucas that we’ve heard about in the previous books where he was mentioned with more than a little venom and bitterness!
Years ago in college, Lucas and Lola were friends – very good friends – and in the span of a weekend, it all changed. They exchanged kisses and made plans which Lucas simply didn’t turn up for until days later and without an explanation or more importantly, an apology. So of course Lola has avoided him as much as possible since!
Unfortunately for the both of them, they each have a younger sibling they’re inordinately fond of who are in love with each other. As Lucas and Lola are like pseudo parents to their respective younger sibling, they swallow their misgivings (just a little) to join forces and go on a scavenger hunt to retrieve the belongings that have been spread across the city by a very interesting landlord.
This book was a lot of fun and a great second chance romance. These two falling back in love was really special as was their willingness to go above and beyond for their siblings. I really loved the effort put in by the landlord and almost feel like he deserves a book of his own! All in all, a great read with plenty of heat, heart, and banter.
*I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

Lucas and Lola were college friends, best friends until the night they went a little further. They were meant to go out on a date the next night, but Lucas was detained and when he returned, words were said and not the ones they wanted to hear. They were meant to go back to being friends but both were hurt and they became enemies. Fast forward ten years and they have to spend 24 hours together collecting his brothers, her sisters belongings that have be placed like a treasure hunt across the city. Or is it just a wild goose chase?
What a fun book! There are light moments of pure LB banter but also more deeper moments with this couple falling for each other all over again. It’s a classic second chance romance with plenty of wit. I loved their family commitment to their sibling. Each of them had reasons why they will also look out for their brother / sister. It was fun reading all the little escapades they did together and realizing what was most important. There’s a small twist to the story that I adored how it played out. And lastly, the epilogue closes of this series and gave me a complete HEA.
5 billion ‘scavenger hunting’ stars!!
One Night Stand-In is the third book in the ‘Boyfriend Material’ series by Lauren Blakely, and Lucas Xavier might simply be the best of these three ‘boyfriends’. Not because he’s sweet and endearing- alright, okay, he is… in the end, but in the beginning, he’s a bit of a grouch. He and Lola Dumont have known each other since they were college freshmen and had been best friends right up until senior year. They were almost more, once, but things happened- as they do- and they instead of becoming lovers, they became enemies. Not even their friendship survived.
What did survive was a lack of trust and an intense dislike.
Now, ten years later, they’re thrown together in a search for their younger siblings’ belongings which had been thrown out of their apartment by their landlord..
Cue for a scavenger hunt. Neither wanted to do it or spend time with the other, but are being forced to do it anyway by their own innate sense of responsibility.
It gives them time to reunite, to remember the past before it went bad. It brings back memories and instigates wants and desires. It’s a fun, sexy and somewhat tumultuous trip down memory lane and a reminder of what they once could have had.
Both Lucas and Lola are wary of love and relationship, not from their own experiences, but from how they grew up. Both had parents that were lacking in the ‘parental’ department so they were scared. They were scared ten years ago, and they’re still scared. But, can the older partnership find a way to recognize true love when it blows into their world?
Well, with chemistry like theirs, what do you think?
Snarky banter, sexy innuendo and cute adventures (llamas and alpacas for the win), a race against time shows them that nothing has really changed between them. It’s as hot today as it was back then. Grab this One-Click and cheer Lucas and Lola to victory.
Another winner from Lauren Blakely’s Boyfriend Material series, and I must say book 3 has One Night Stand-In Lucas Xavier, as definite boyfriend material, even if he is the last person that Lola Dumont wants to spend 24 hours with. They used to be best friends until that one time (yes, you know the story), then it all went to s#!¥, then they became mortal enemies – for 10 years. Now they’re pushed together to solve their siblings’ landlord’s riddles. Following clues they race around the city, amazingly having fun and reconnecting. A truly wonderful, angst free, entertaining romance. I thoroughly enjoyed it, from the very first page to the very last page. A sexy romance to truly get lost in. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.
Good read! I really enjoyed Lucas & Lola & the scavenger hunt. This was a fast read with lots of humor & heart.
One Night Stand-In is the kind of smart and sweet kind of love story that will have you smiling from ear to ear. In classic Lauren Blakely style, she gives us another driven couple in Lola and Lucas, theirs a second chance at romance after a shaky ending 10 years prior. With NYC as the 3rd most important character, Lola and Lucas find themselves smack dab in the middle of what was a lovers quarrel between their younger siblings, causing them to spend a whirlwind 24 hours together on the most fantastic of scavenger hunts. Oh yeah, with an assumed sadist writer as their guide. In all honesty, I wanted to join them!
With the sights, sounds and smells of the city that never sleeps, Lola and Lucas find what they have been looking for in each other, as their adventure takes more than a few twists and turns of fate. Although this is truly their story, there is no doubt that Lola is at the heart of it all, with Blakely continuing with her fierce heroines never afraid to take chances, both in work and in love.
These two thirty-somethings are fun, flirty and wildly sexy. Their passion for each other matches their sense of honor, their sense of humor and even their simple sense of style. It was a true treat watching as Lola and Lucas lose themselves in the other, desperately trying to keep their wits about them. But their intoxicating rhythm together cannot be denied and it was only a matter of time before that one moment where all is right with the world showed itself and another happily ever after is upon us once more.
I am thrilled Lola finally got her story told, with her besties Amy and Peyton always there to cheer on their girl. Not to mention the cheeky best friend in Reid who kept Lucas from keeping his head firmly out of his arse.
It’s always joyful to be back in Lauren Blakely’s imagination, with One Night Stand-In another wonderful read for a lazy afternoon.
5 solid stars!
One Night Stand-In was a fun, sweet, passionate read. Lola is the third in the friend group to get her story. Hers was a mix of a second chance and enemies-to-lovers. Lucas and Lola fit together so easily. They worked the same job, had similar family situations, and corresponding personalities. These two are back in each other’s lives thanks to their younger siblings and a crazy landlord. I enjoyed the scavenger hunt-it was entertaining. It definitely had me cracking up and smiling. And seeing their reconnection was sweet. They were just an adorable couple. Their interactions and banter was on point. Overall a magnificent story with great characters and storyline. I love being a part of Lauren’s fiction world-it’s always a blast.
