A fiery new enemies-to-lovers, second chance stand-alone romance from #1 NYT Bestseller Lauren Blakely!Lucas Xavier is the last person I want to spend 24 hours with, let alone two minutes. Exes are exes for a reason. In his case, for a million reasons. Because he’s not only an ex-lover, he’s also an ex-friend. We didn’t just break up – we combusted in a spectacular bonfire of barbs and doors … barbs and doors slammed.
Nothing will change that. Not his clever wit, not his ridiculous good looks, not his unfair levels of charm. And definitely not a wild dash through the city that takes us on an accidental scavenger hunt through our past, where we stop for a tango lesson, pancakes and a visit with some llamas.
And certainly not time together to make amends and say we’re sorry.
But, let’s say that was enough…it’s not like you can fall in love in 24 hours.
Can you?
Indulge in the BOYFRIEND MATERIAL series! Three best friends. Three outrageous proposals. Three chances to fall in love. Three brand new standalones from Lauren Blakely! ONE NIGHT STAND-IN is a standalone romance in this series!

I adored Lauren Blakely’s “One Night Stand-In,” which featured likeable, well-developed characters and a fast-paced, engaging plot. I especially enjoyed the concept of a scavenger hunt forcing main characters Lola and Lucas to work together after nearly ten years as frenemies, and the witty banter that developed between them along the way.
From the beginning of the story, it was clear that there were a lot of unresolved feelings between Lola and Lucas. They used to be best friends and almost became more one night in college, but a botched attempt at a first date caused their relationship to fall apart completely. Lola resented the fact that Lucas never apologized for his actions back then, and Lucas seemed to believe that Lola didn’t care as much about him as he cared about her. However, as they worked together on the clues to locate their younger siblings’ possessions in the scavenger hunt set up by a revenge-seeking landlord, they came to see those past events and each other in a different light. With understanding came forgiveness and, finally, love, which I found to be incredibly satisfying because Lucas and Lola were so much fun together.
Overall, “One Night Stand-In” was an excellent conclusion to the Boyfriend Material series, and I look forward to reading whatever Ms. Blakely writes next!

One Night Stand-In was a swoony and sweet book that made for an amazing, feel- good read. Lola and Lucas lit up the pages of my Kindle from the start and kept me constantly entertained. I loved tagging along with them on their quirky escapades and watching the sparks between them catch fire once again. Full of fun times, passion and tons of feels this book rounded out the Boyfriend Material serials spectacularly.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. While Lucas and Lola are on a scavenger hunt to rescue their siblings belongings they may have a get a second chance at love. This book sucked me in from the start and kept my attention throughout. It was fun to follow the adventure Lucas and Lola went on from a button store to tango lessons. Was nice to watch them re-establish their friendship from their past and watch sparks fly.
Book 3 in the Boyfriend Material series and it was just as good as the other 2. I loved this story so much. This story was all my favorite tropes rolled into one: second chance and friends to lovers which became enemies to lovers. Lucas and Lola were so good together. The chemistry and attraction between them was still there all these years later and it was still was off the charts hot. Fun read that will keep you laughing as only Lauren Blakely’s stories can do. Highly recommend it.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
A madcap second-chance romance filled with fun, adventure, and lots of chemistry.
Lauren Blakely once again brings readers an amazing story with lovable characters, an interesting plot, funny times, and all the heat.
Once best friends, and almost lovers, Lola and Lucas can’t stand each other now. After ten years of hating one another, they are thrown back together for a 48-hour scavenger hunt around New York City to find their siblings’ belongings.
Though their adventure begins with animosity, their insane chemistry can’t be denied, and past feelings are rekindled. Old wrongs are righted, apologies made and accepted, and a new friendship between them is born.
But is friendship all there can be between them? Or will the one night stand-in become a forever thing?
One Night Stand-In is the third book in the Boyfriend Material series by one of my favorite authors, Lauren Blakely. It can be read as a standalone but if you haven’t read Asking for a Friend and Sex and Other Shiny Objects you really should because they are great! One Night Stand-In is Lola’s story. It’s a second chance romance that takes place in twenty-four hours. Lucas and Lola were close friends in high school and one night things cross the line from friends to more, but then he never calls. They go from friends to enemies and competitors. Now, ten years later and Lucas’ brother and Lola’s sister bring them back together on an odd scavenger hunt. Their siblings are in a relationship and need their help. Lucas and Lola have a twenty-four hour deadline to run around the city finding Rowan and Lulu’s things. It starts out with animosity and barbs, but quickly they soften toward each other while trying to solve silly riddles and race against the clock. As they get closer to the end, they realize they both made mistakes and they missed out on something that could have been great. Now that they are older and wiser, they don’t want to go back to the way things were. They want to try to move forward together. Can they really forget the past and move on? Is there that much power in just saying sorry? I loved the premise of this story! A timed scavenger hunt that brings two lovers back together while they have fun together eating pancakes, visiting llamas and even tango lessons. I knew Lulu’s story was going to be good because she lost her heart years ago to Lucas and never really got it back. Overall, I laughed, swooned, shed a few tears and loved every minute of it!
I just absolutely loved this book! As soon as it was delivered to my kindle I devoured the entire thing! Lola & Lucas were awesome characters, and I enjoyed watching them deal with their past (I mean there was some serious bad feelings there). The whole story just flowed and the secondary characters really added to the enjoyment of the book! 5 stars!!
They were very good friends 10 years ago and one blazing kiss changed their emotions to ready for more. Then he went and messed things up by standing her up on her first date with no phone call or appropriate apology. You guessed it! From friends to enemies in just 3 seconds flat!
Now, Lucas and Lola are thrown together on the most bizarre and important scavenger hunt – find items about to be irreparably lost by siblings because of an insane landlord. And yes, of course, they only have 48 hours to do it. Anyone who had participate on a scavenger hunt knows it takes teamwork and knowledge to succeed. Can these to frenemies come together and succeed?
Smart, amusing, and uniquely entertaining, this book will keep you smiling and reading!
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
Lola is enrolled by her sister to go and find her and her boyfriend’s belongings on a scavenger hunt through the city. He arc nemesis Lucas is also joining the hunt for his brother’s things. They’ve known each other since college where they had an almost relationship and they are now business rivals. As their journey unfolds they start questioning their feelings for each other. This is a feel good story that is heartwarming, fun, sexy and so entertaining. Another winner for Lauren Blakely. I honestly volunteered to review this story.
This was a seriously fun, new take on second chance romance. A crazy scavenger hunt with the possible “one that got away”. A flirty, steamy and heartfelt good time.
One Night Stand-In is the third and final book in the Boyfriend Material series. It’s a series of interconnected standalones. It follows three best girl friends. This one is about Lola, who we’ve seen in all the other books. She always seemed the most together and nothing could rattle her, so I was excited to read her book. Her story is a second chance romance with her reconnecting with a college ex. This book picks up years later, when their siblings, who are now dating, send the two of them around town to pick up their belongings in a 24-hour timeframe, in a very bizarre turn of events. I will say the setup of this was weird, and while it was explained well, it was still just odd. I also felt like the story moved really fast. I wanted just a little more buildup. But, the characters were really easy to love, and it was refreshing how these two did not play any games. They acted like adults: immediately owning up to their own mistakes from the past that led to their undoing. The epilogue was exactly what we wanted for the end of this series, with us catching up with our favorite couples from the other books. This was a great series, and I would highly recommend it.
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this original second chance, frenemies storyline. The banter between Lucas and Lola is entertaining and their chemistry sizzling hot. A great addition to this series.
Okay, can I start this part off by saying how much I appreciated the direction that Lauren Blakely took with Lola and Lucas’s story?! There wasn’t this drawn-out, push-and-pull sort of scenario that went on, and I, for one, appreciated that. Lola and Lucas clicked, but there was ten-year-old baggage that they had to deal with, no thanks to their lack of communication and with their hurt feelings getting the better of them all those years ago. Also, they were twenty-one at the time, and with them now being both thirty, I guess they were able to take a step back and be more contemplative. The whole idea of the scavenger hunt and the hilarious landlord that was Harrison who was behind it was genius. He wasn’t a mere supporting character here because the guy really was the who one who had orchestrated it. Why he did what he did is something you’re going to have to find out on your own because I refuse to spoil that part for readers. Now, while this may be the last full-length story in the series, Blakely did announce that there’s a novella coming which wraps up the series. Yipee! One Night Stand-In snags five stars.
What fun a scavenger hunt can be or could be if it wasn’t trying to find your sister’s possessions and it wasn’t having to do it with your ex boyfriend that is now your enemy.
Lola does everything for her sister Luna but this is asking a little too much. Not only does she not have the time but she also doesn’t know if her heart can deal with working with Lucas to run around the city finding their items their crazy landlord hid. Who does that? A over the top man that finds it amusing to take her sister and her boyfriends personal belongings and hid them all over the city in places they argued about. Now Lola and Lucas must work together to find said items in the time frame allowed and not go crazy in the process.
Lucas will do anything his brother needs him to do but can he do this? Lola was once his everything and time changed that and can he work with her to help his brother out, sure he can or he hopes he can.
This was a fun book and brought these two former lovers back together. I enjoyed tagging along with Lucas and Lola as they found their way not only to Luna and Rowan’s items but back to where they belonged. You wonder who is pulling the puppet strings from time to time but it’s just fun to travel with them on this journey. They both have their reason’s for being over eager toward their spoiled siblings and it’s enduring.
As with a lot of Lauren Blakely’s books, the characters live in New York so I love how the author takes me there with her words. I feel as though I am with the characters as they get their coffee or go to the bowling alley or walk down the sidewalk. I always come away with a sense of being there in the story which says volumes for her skill as a writer. When an author can take you on the journey with the characters and you feel along with them it’s a great book for me. I received an early copy of this book to read and review with my honest opinion. I really enjoyed it and recommend this book.
This is a fun second chance, enemies-to-lovers read that is fast paced, comical and heartfelt and features interesting characters that are brought back together by their younger and somewhat irresponsible siblings. Both Lola and Lucas had to take responsibility for their younger siblings years ago and they take great pains to be good role models while also taking great pride in Luna and Rowan’s achievements. Great chemistry and witty banter have long been a combination in all of Lauren’s romantic comedies and while that can be fun I think it’s time for a change. I know they say you can’t get too much of a good thing but how about something dramatic for a change of pace? I read a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.
One Night Stand in is a fun, sexy and sassy book! Lucas and Lola have a history, one that they would now like to forget. When unexpectedly pushed together to partake in a scavenger hunt, the sparks fly once again and Lucas and Lola have to figure out if just being friends is something they can both live with. This was a quick, fun read and I enjoyed the cameos by previous couples/heroines!
What happens when Lauren Blakely sends two ex best friend aka two ex almost lovers to a crazy yet oddly romantic treasure hunt all over the city? Butterflies in my stomach. Warmth in my heart. Smile in my face. And fire in my veins. One Night Stand-In is not only a perfect rom com. It is made of dreams, swoon , steam and fairytale love.
Lola and Lucas have been best friends once upon a time. One passionate kiss and one misunderstanding later, they became almost enemies. Years later, they are professional enemies as they are both highly successful book cover designers. Lola ‘s sister Luna and Lucas’ brother Rowan are living together in sin untill their quirky landlord Harrison with dry sense of humor and suffering from lack of peace due to his tenants, decides to terminate their lease abruptly. The only way to get back their security deposit and personal belongings is to work through the clues in the email. The problem? The couple is on a cruise to a godforsaken place and so their siblings are emotionally blackmailed to complete the task. As they hunt the button store, the bowling alley, the diner, the alpaca & llama farm, the chess place and so many other places; they gradually transform from being reluctant partners to accepting they are soulmates. And it’s one heck of adventure.
What drives this story? Three words. Chemistry. Chemistry. And Chemistry. Lucas and Lola are both witty, smart, sharp, emotional and somehow vulnerable persons. They feel this undeniable pull deep in their heart. They feel this gaping hole in their soul that can only be filled by each other. Let’s not forget how they set the sheet on fire and they cannot keep their hands off each other . But their past anger and bitterness was holding them. Spending two days together away from their daily chaos and trying to uncover the mysteries made them realize how much they missed each other and craved for each other. Lauren Blakely took me to a virtual yet very real journey in this story. I always say her writing is very three dimensional. I could smell the pancakes from the diner, the fries and sandwich and the nasty llama. I could hear their laughs, the trains and the people walking through streets. This was a real treat as a reader to be submerged in a story like this.
Lauren Blakely is such a gifted writer who hit my weak spots every single time. She delivered a delicious, sinful and swoonworthy story of second chance love in One Night Stand-In.
Received ARC for honest review
One Night Stand-In by Lauren Blakely is the most perfect second chance/enemies-to-lovers rom-com! I adored Lola and Lucas so much! The characters are well-fleshed out and so much fun. Blakeley delivers fun and laughs in this sexy story and you won’t be able to put it down until the very last page.
With a shared past, Lola and Lucas start out as enemies. Blakely created the perfect way to bring these two strong, independent characters together…..the ultimate scavenger hunt! She brilliantly sends them on a doozy of an adventure and it had me laughing throughout. As the story progresses, these two begin to fall once again for each other and I loved watching them rekindle that romance they once shared (albeit briefly) now as adults. Written beautifully, Blakely once again shows why she’s the unofficial Queen of Rom-Com! Don’t miss this awesome book!! 5 stars
Lucas and Lola met during college. A friendship and study program connected the pair. From that came a spark and glimmer for maybe more. However, circumstances beyond their control led to a misunderstanding that broke all bonds. Animosity has festered throughout the years. But the one thing they have in common is the love for their siblings. An understanding that needs no words or explanation. This leads them on a wild search to find prized personal effects after a crazy shutout from siblings landlord. Oh, add in the fact Lucas and Lola are competing for the same professional award at the same time. Whew, multitasking at its best.
As their adventure begins, they realize they aren’t past their past. Bitterness remains but so do the embers of what their spark ignited. They tease and flirt and find that they’re still attracted to each other and may want more. Their relationship is so light and easy going. They don’t give mixed signals. Each giving and taking.
Add in an extremely quirky and sarcastic landlord that knew how to jab and some alpaca and this story is priceless!
I feel like I say this every time I get done with a Lauren Blakely book, but her romances are perfectly light and entertaining… just what I need after my latest binge into darker romances! One Night Stand-In is a great second chance, enemies to friends to lovers type of love story. Lucas and Lola were great friends back in college until a misunderstanding happened and like all immature college kids, they let pride get in the way and slowly became enemies instead of friends. Second chance romances always make me nervous because I hold grudges and can’t forgive the past stupidity if it involves cheating, but I love that it was just misunderstanding and lack of communication they had to work through. The chemistry between Lucas and Lola was off the charts, even 10 years after their friendship ended… but that just added to the heat when things finally exploded between them! This is definitely a good romance to pick up when in the mood for a fun, light love story with no angst!
