A fiery new enemies-to-lovers, second chance stand-alone romance from #1 NYT Bestseller Lauren Blakely!Lucas Xavier is the last person I want to spend 24 hours with, let alone two minutes. Exes are exes for a reason. In his case, for a million reasons. Because he’s not only an ex-lover, he’s also an ex-friend. We didn’t just break up – we combusted in a spectacular bonfire of barbs and doors … barbs and doors slammed.
Nothing will change that. Not his clever wit, not his ridiculous good looks, not his unfair levels of charm. And definitely not a wild dash through the city that takes us on an accidental scavenger hunt through our past, where we stop for a tango lesson, pancakes and a visit with some llamas.
And certainly not time together to make amends and say we’re sorry.
But, let’s say that was enough…it’s not like you can fall in love in 24 hours.
Can you?
Indulge in the BOYFRIEND MATERIAL series! Three best friends. Three outrageous proposals. Three chances to fall in love. Three brand new standalones from Lauren Blakely! ONE NIGHT STAND-IN is a standalone romance in this series!

Enemies to Friends to Lovers!
This book is about 2 people who were friends in college, ready to take their relationship forward, when Lucas backs away. This really hurt Lola, and the two become adversaries.
Years later, they are thrown together once again to work together on a scavenger hunt. Considering their past, the fact that this story takes place in a very short timeframe makes it somewhat realistic. This is another fun, sexy rom-com, with lots of twists, banter and sex.
I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely.
One Night Stand In is a fun and sexy little adventure. This fast paced, fiesty second chance/enemies to lovers rom com is all witty banter and crazy hot sexual chemistry.
Lucas Xavier from São Paulo and Lola Dumont from Miami are great together. Tasked with recovering his brother’s and her sister’s belongings after the landlord hides them all around town, these pseudo exes are sent on a wild scavenger hunt and must work together to collect all their items. Unfortunately, they have a less than ideal past that ended their friendship or any potential relationship almost a decade prior and steered them more into enemies territory.
I really enjoyed seeing Lola and Lucas work through their past mistakes and regrets because these two are fire together. I loved the back and forth and the flirting. I do wish the enemies to lovers banter would have lasted a little longer. They went from bickering to banging maybe a tad bit prematurely. But overall I still enjoyed the story.
If you’re looking for a fun, lighthearted romance with tender moments, great dialogue and even better characters this is worth a pick up.
Quick look:
Trope-tastic: Friends to Lovers, Second Chances
Five words or Less: Misunderstandings, scavenger hunts & new beginnings
Main Characters: Lola (Lo) and Lucas were perfectly matched. A fun, flirty couple that reclaimed their lost friendship & then were brave enough to decide it was so much more.
Ah, Romance: “I’ll take my chances. Because Lola is worth it.” -Lucas
My thoughts: I thoroughly enjoyed this last standalone story in the Boyfriend Material series. What a fun romance setup! An entertaining scavenger hunt (Alpacas or Llamas?!), two adults willing to have the hard conversations (even if it is ten years after the fact) so that they can reclaim the friendship that was so important to each of them. I thought Lo & Lucas were perfectly balanced, with their devotion to their siblings and their quirky humor. Reading this book in one sitting was an easy feat, given the entertaining dialogue & the sassy sparks. Fans of the series will enjoy cameos from the friend group, as well!
Oh, the things we do for our siblings! Lucas and Lola were “almost” in a relationship years ago. Just after one kiss, the relationship was done. Reason? You gotta read the book! They are rivals (both graphic designers) and not friends anymore. However, when Lola’s sister asks for her help finding her and Rowan’s possessions that are missing/scattered in NYC, of course she says yes. She regrets that decision as soon as Luna says Rowan’s brother Lucas will help. And that’s when this amazing story takes off!!
As are all of Lauren’s books, this one I was captivated from the beginning! I always hear her voice inside my head while reading! Another five star story!!
5 “it takes two to tango” stars!
“Who would have thought twenty-four hours would change everything?”
Luna and Rowan get kicked out of their apartment and their personal items are scattered around New York City by their landlord. They have 48hrs to collect their items if they want to get the security deposit back. There’s only one problem though, Luna and Rowan are on tour.
Enter Lola and Lucas, siblings of Luna and Rowan, respectively. Once upon a time, Lola and Lucas were best of friends and were headed towards more. Then things came to an abrupt halt and they couldn’t get their friendship back, becoming enemies instead. Now, they are thrown together on a crazy, over-the-top scavenger hunt that will bring suppressed feelings to the surface and make them face the past once and for all. So, hang on tight for a wild ride across New York City with Lola and Lucas in One Night Stand-In!
I can always count on Lauren Blakely to create an original rom com to love, and she has done it again. One Night Stand-In is an entertaining enemies-to-lovers, second chance romance that brings on the laughs, turns up the heat, and fills you with love. It’s all kinds of fun and I thoroughly enjoyed the way the story unfolded. The scavenger hunt is original and the clues are creative. It is comical following Lola and Lucas around the city figuring out where all the items are hiding.
I loved that they are thrown together and forced to face the past. I desperately wanted to know what went down ten years earlier to crush their friendship, especially since Lola and Lucas are so fantastic together. The banter is gold and I found myself either smiling or laughing during every interaction. Reminiscing about the past brings up old feelings and I loved that they couldn’t run from them as they realize how good they were together as friends and how good they could be as more.
“Our friendship feels both familiar but also tender and new. Like, one false step and it blows up a second time.”
Add in their insane chemistry and sizzling sexual tension, and I knew they would give us smoking hot sexy times when they finally give into the inevitable. And they do not disappoint!
Overall, One Night Stand-In is a wonderful story of forgiveness, taking chances, and learning to love while being yourself and having fun. It is a solid hit and another 5-star addition to the Boyfriend material series! I loved it!
“Right here, right now, I’m deciding to do love differently.
Love might be dangerous, but not loving is deadly.”

4.5 stars! I enjoyed Lucas and Lola so much. This was a fun rom-com read. Lucas is such a sweet gentleman but can also be naughty. I love Lola. The scavenger hunt was pretty great. Fun second chance romance
Ex-Best friends (almost lovers); irresponsible siblings; pancakes; tango; guitars; iPad; Star War T-Shirts; buttons; bowling; French fries; vengeful landlord; NYC; and Scavenger Hunt = ANOTHER FANTASTIC Lauren Blakely NOVEL
Lucas Xavier and Lola Dumont first met in college (Art School) and became close friends (almost lovers); but after some miscommunication on both their parts things got complicated and their friendship ended. However, Lucas and Lola still had “something” that kept them somewhat connected….. their very irresponsible siblings, Rowan and Luna. It is exactly that irresponsibility that sends Lucas and Lola on a scavenger hunt throughout NYC.
One Night Stand-In the the final book in the Boyfriend Material Series and it was everything I hoped to be. With each book in the Boyfriend Material Series, Lauren Blakely, delivered a group of fantastic interconnecting main and secondary characters. I’ve said it before and I say it again – Lauren has created such an amazing world where her characters interconnect and interact regardless of the role. Every character (whether recurring or mentioned once) plays such a significant role of the main characters. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SO MUCH. It all makes me so invested as if I, too, am a part of this fantastic world and all the characters are long time friends.
One Night Stand-In made me laugh so much. It had me guessing on a lot of things until the end. Lucas and Lola were both amazing characters whose past and personal family life contributed to the 10 years they lost. They both came from homes where they saw love as a sacrifice that didn’t end well. I admire them both. They worked hard, were passionate about their work, but they gave so much of themselves to make sure that their siblings were well taken care of.
As this specific series comes to an end (although I’m sure we will see the Boyfriend Material characters again), I want to say that one of my favorite things about the entire series (all three books included); Asking for a Friend, Sex and Other Shiny Objects; and One Night Stand-In is the fact that Amy, Peyton, and Lola were a group of POWERFUL WOMEN. They embraced their sexuality and did (or wore) things that made them feel good for themselves, not necessarily for someone else. They were not afraid to explore their sexuality, speak about their desires and pursue them. On the same note, this entire series focused a lot on the importance of family dynamics. Not all families are traditional and sometimes your friends are the ones who become family; sometimes as older siblings you have to play the role of a parent (or both).
Lauren’s books always make me laugh but they always have such a beautiful underlying message of family, friends, sacrifices and love.
**An ARC of this book was provided in exchange for an honest review**
One Night Stand-In is the perfect pick me up second chance love story. Right from the start you already enjoy the banter between the main characters with their friends, you wanna be part of Lola’s girl gang and join Lucas’ coffee shop antics. Lauren Blakely’s talent at writing pure dialogue really shines in this one. I was literally laughing out loud within the first few chapters and it continued throughout the entire book.
Both Lola and Lucas see each other as the one the got away, the pseudo-ex that broke your heart years ago and you’ve been not bitter but… unavailable emotionally ever since. Nothing really compares. On and naturally you hate each other’s guts because why wouldn’t you? When they’re forced together by the irresponsibly of their love bird younger siblings they’re not the happiest, but as I was reading I knew it was going to be electrifying chemistry once they did finally meet up. You can’t hold that much hurt and anger in your heart without there being major passion! Trust me I was not wrong, the sexiness level of this one is definitely off the charts. Both Lola and Lucas have a competitive, playful nature that ignites in flames when instantly transferred to the bedroom.
As they go about collecting their siblings things across NY they start to remember everything that brought them together as friends in the first place. The inevitability of their connection growing and leading to much more then one could imagine in such a short period of time. It doesn’t feel rushed though, I simply enjoyed and reveled in reading their journey unfold. I fell in love with Lola and Lucas just as quickly as they rekindled their love for each other.
One Night Stand-In by Lauren Blakely is a second chance romance about enemies to lovers that will captivate you from start to finish. This story was just so much fun to read! Lola and Lucas were once friends with the possibly of so much more. And yet, now they want nothing to do with the other. But when they need to work together, will old feelings resurrect and remind them of the past and what could have been?
I loved Lola! She was very likable, fun and determined. Lucas was all charm and sexiness! They had amazing chemistry and banter. But old hurt feelings are hard to ignore. I absolutely loved the story, the characters and their journey. I was left with a smile on my face!

Happy reading!
This was such a fun read! I loved the enemies-to-lovers, second-chance aspect of Lucas and Lola’s story. It was light hearted with great banter between the characters, a twist I enjoyed, and it ended the series perfectly! I highly recommend this book and series!!
This book was a lot of fun! Really enjoyed Lauren’s excellent writing about Lucas and Lola. They were friends ten years ago, and then got hot and heavy, and then Lucas stood her up. Not his fault…. So now they are rivals as they both work in publishing.
Fate puts them together ten years later going on a scavenger hunt trying to find all of their younger siblings stuff that their landlord has now hidden. And if they don’t find it all in 48 hours they will lose their security deposit.
Very funny, entertaining and sexy times!!!!!!
What a fun story! This Boyfriend Material series by Lauren Blakely has been one of my favorites! This features an enemies to lovers troupe, although it could also be billed as a second chance romance too!
Lucas and Lola were a couple back in college. Both graphic artists, they have been rivals ever since their relationship went up in smoke. There are still some lingering feelings that come to the surface when they are tasked with being a team for a scavenger hunt. There is a lot of words said and then some flirting going on as they gather the required items. Can they rekindle their romance of old?
One Night Stand In was action packed and I zipped through this read! It totally had me entertained with witty banter and all the feels of dealing with a past love. You couldn.t help but root for them to see their way into the light! If rom-com’s are your thing and you love enemies to lovers, or second chance romance, you will love this book! It was a fun rollercoaster ride and I recommend you grab this for your collection!
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author. The review and rating are my opinion.
I love everything Lauren Blakely does, yes please!
Lucas and Lola are quite the match. They should have been a couple for the last decade, but miscommunication and lacrosse got in the way in college. It was a lot of fun to read about their quest to get their siblings belongings returned, but it was even more fun to read about the two of them rediscovering each other and getting their best friend back.
This book has humor, heart, heat and healing. It is a fun read that leaves you smiling and believing in soulmates and second chances.
A sweet and sassy! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
This is a fun sweet and sassy second chance romance! Lola and Lucas are helping their siblings to get their stuff back. Will this adventure push these two to rethink what they had in the past was something they can rekindle. These two are so cute and sassy and full of love!!!
What’s not to love about a second chance, enemies-to-lovers romance?
I’ve been waiting for Lola’s story since we met her a couple books ago, and it did not disappoint! She and Lucas have fantastic chemistry and the banter…OMG!
This quick, run read is everything that LB excels at and leaves you with all the feels. The perfect book for when you want some pure and simple happiness in your life!
One Night Stand-In was a fabulous second chance romance. This book was funny, steamy and never a dull moment. When Lucas and Lola have to work together to go on a scavenger hunt to save the belongings of their love struck siblings, they have to put their own past feelings of passion and hurt behind them. You will love finding out just how and what is uncovered on this journey!
As soon as I read the premise of Lauren Blakely’s newest release One Night Stand-In, I was more than intrigued to see how everything would play out in the 24 hour timeframe she placed her characters in while also providing key insights into the hero and heroine’s shared past.
Lucas Xavier and Lola DuMont were once the best of friends, but ten years later, they’re business rivals and more enemies than even acquaintances mostly due to a misunderstanding after one passionate kiss in college.
Fast forward to their siblings’ need for assistance and Lucas and Lola find themselves forced to work together on quite the unorthodox scavenger hunt, requiring them to either let go of their past and move forward or continue to hold onto the hurt feelings and what ifs.
Second chance romances are one of my favorite types of reads, and I really enjoyed how Blakely laid out the plot line, giving her main characters an opportunity for a second chance that wouldn’t have happened without Rowan and Lulu’s crazy landlord. It’s clear that Lucas and Lola have things to sort out and honest confessions to make, but what’s also obvious is the connection and chemistry that’s still between them, and it’s that bond that starts to click back into place as they hunt down all of their siblings’ belongings, realizing that this time around, everything can be different, as long as they say what they feel and act on it.
4 Poison Apples
This is the third book in Boyfriend Material series and I have to say it’s probably my favorite out of all three books. Lola and Lucas were a treat! They had unfinished business/past from college. They were best friends in college but when something happens and changes everything between them, they both become enemies to one another and fast forward 10 years and nothing has changed, it’s when they are forced to spend 24hours together that to try and have to solve a bunch of riddles because to do with their siblings’ landlords which turns out it was a way to force them and to spend time together. They end up running around the city trying to figure it all out and when they start following clues and putting all these pieces together, they start to reconnect with one another. They start to have fun together and the spark ignites between these two again. When they come together again you can tell that these two were meant to be!
This was a fun, heartwarming and sexy read, and as always this book by Lauren Blakely fell in my lap at the right time, and when I needed it most.
Beautifully written, character development and relationship between these two grows so well throughout the book. You can tell the chemistry is there from the beginning, and the way the author developed these two to come back together again, I couldn’t help but fall in love with them too!
5 Stars.
4.5
So much scavenger hunting fun! Lola and Lucas are on a second chance journey and I am all about it! I absolutely love the way they are brought together again, it makes for such a fun time. Lola and Lucas have an ease about the way they fit together again. Their chemistry heats up the page and they really have a sweet second chance. I really enjoyed their story so much! Who knew cheese, alpacas and tango lessons could be such a great time!
