A fiery new enemies-to-lovers, second chance stand-alone romance from #1 NYT Bestseller Lauren Blakely!Lucas Xavier is the last person I want to spend 24 hours with, let alone two minutes. Exes are exes for a reason. In his case, for a million reasons. Because he’s not only an ex-lover, he’s also an ex-friend. We didn’t just break up – we combusted in a spectacular bonfire of barbs and doors … barbs and doors slammed.
Nothing will change that. Not his clever wit, not his ridiculous good looks, not his unfair levels of charm. And definitely not a wild dash through the city that takes us on an accidental scavenger hunt through our past, where we stop for a tango lesson, pancakes and a visit with some llamas.
And certainly not time together to make amends and say we’re sorry.
But, let’s say that was enough…it’s not like you can fall in love in 24 hours.
Can you?
Indulge in the BOYFRIEND MATERIAL series! Three best friends. Three outrageous proposals. Three chances to fall in love. Three brand new standalones from Lauren Blakely! ONE NIGHT STAND-IN is a standalone romance in this series!

This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
There is so much I love about Lauren Blakely’s writing. Stellar storytelling, thorough character development, entertaining plots and romantic love stories that she threads together with keen attention to detail. For me, this always results in an unputdownable, wholly addictive reading experience. A rock-solid, never-let-me-down kind of author, Blakely is a top favorite of mine for many reasons, and it seems like I’m always in a perpetual state of waiting for her next book.
One Night Stand-In is the third standalone novel in her Boyfriend Material series, and it reunites former college friends and almost lovers in a second-chance romance that takes place largely over the course of 24 hours. Set in New York City, Blakely perfectly captures the vibe of this one-of-a-kind city, and her focus on those details really paid off in painting the backdrop for this love story.
The creative, interesting plot immediately pulled me in, and I enjoyed Lucas and Lola’s escapades as they raced around the city trying to solve a series of wacky riddles on behalf of their quirky younger siblings, Rowan and Luna. Right from the start, Lucas and Lola had so much fire burning between them. At first, anger and hurt from the wounds of their shattered past were stoking those flames, but it quickly shifted to smoldering attraction.
Their snappy banter flowed easily and naturally as they worked through the clues together. Each one seemed to remind them of their own bittersweet history and forced them to re-examine the past through more mature eyes. With each riddle they solved, understanding of their own past mistakes dawned, forgiveness was granted, and in letting go of the anger and hurt they’d been holding on to, hope built. This is exactly why I love second-chances so much, and the rekindling of this relationship was the kind of heart-racing romance I want in a romantic comedy.
Full of fun, fire and feels, One Night Stand-In was a feel-good, low angst, super sexy romantic comedy. With a fresh, entertaining storyline and sweet, sexy, second-chance love story, One Night Stand-In was an absolute pleasure to read. This whole series has been fantastic, and without question, these titles are destined to become classics in her extensive catalog. While I absolutely loved the entire series, One Night Stand-In rises to the top as a new favorite from Lauren Blakely and a favorite for the year. Five smooches from me for One Night Stand-In by Lauren Blakely!

This is a fast paced, fun, quick read!
Set in the Boyfriend Material Series world, we get Lola’s story.
Lola is on a mission for her little sister, who she practically raised as her own child. This mission also puts her back into the world of Lucas, her ex-friend and possibly more. But circumstances and immaturity had stopped it before it even began.
Lucas is also wrangled into this mission by his younger brother, who he also practically raised as his own. But the love and enabling man that he is, he thinks that he can do this scavenger hunt with Lola with practicality and no feelings involved.
Oh boy when Lola and Lucas meet up again the sparks fly and in no time at all the chemistry between them blazes white-hot. The friendship that was lost and the love that was stifled comes back in full force.
The secondary characters are amazing and bring so much more to the story! Do I see hints of some new stories in the future too? I hope so!
Another stellar story from Ms. Blakely, well done!
Leave it to Lauren Blakely to make a scavenger hunt sexy! As an author on my one click list (both audio and e-book), I was clearly at a disadvantage not having read this already.
Between the Happy Go Lucky Sadist and the banter, I promise Lauren Blakely (Andi Arndt and Jason Clarke too, if you are an audiobook listener) will have you chuckling in no time. Whether you think they should cut the cord or not, Lola and the one who got away will have you entertained for hours. The chemistry, the history, and the make him weep attire all add to the fire- only their siblings can douse this flame!
One Night Stand-In is romance at its best. Quirky and memorable with the perfect ending, it is guaranteed to make you smile.
5 A Trip Down Memory Lane Stars!!!
The last thing Lola wants to do is spend any time with her ex Lucas, but when her sister and his brother, who are a couple need their help desperately there’s nothing to be done, but to spend time with Lucas tracking down Luna and Rowan’s belongs spread around NYC!!
These two were best friends and lovers and when it ended they weren’t able to salvage their friendship so they avoided each other as much as possible. But they put this aside to start this scavenger hunt. Which as you can imagine leads to some laugh out loud moments along with some swoon-worthy moments and a sizzling chemistry that’s still alive and vibrant between them.
It was so fun seeing these two get their second chance at love. How they remember the good times and were able to forgive previous hurts. This book is filled with all the things I love about a Lauren Blakely book… characters that have chemistry coming off the pages, sizzling sexy times, flirty conversations, and fun times from the sublime to the outrageous!
Loved this story!! It’s about Lola that we’ve met in the previous books. She’s driven to do her best at work as she designs covers for books and is working on building her own business along the way. Everything is going swimmingly until her sister Luna enlists her help. Sounds simple no big deal but there is a catch… She’ll have to be around the one person she cannot stand from past events.. Her rival Lucas… Overall I’m loving this series I love seeing the past characters and what they are up to and meeting new ones along the way.
Love, love, loved this story. What fun!! Lucas and Lola have to spend 24 hours together and hilarity ensues. I loved the story line, the characters and just everything. I think I had a smile on my face the whole time that I was reading it. Lauren Blakely has another winner on her hands!!!
Loved this quirky romance with a scavenger hunt thrown in!!
The thing I loved the most about this book is the undeniable chemistry between Lucas and Lola. These two together have Sparks flying all over. It’s flirty, swoony and so much fun. It’s powerful and deep. Their connection is real and as you get to know them it becomes obvious how right they are for each other.
I loved the scavanger hunt element. It made the story fresh, and it added so much to their relationship. They had me laughing and swooning all the time.
Hilarious and sweet.
One Night Stand-In by Lauren Blakely is the third book in her Boyfriend Material Series. Lucas and Lola have been everything to each other. Best friends, lovers and more. But that was 10 years ago. They burned bright with each other, maybe too bright. When they end up working together on a scavenger hunt, those old feelings, the ones that were too hot, rekindle. Perhaps 10 years later they can smolder for a longer fire, rather than burn out?
You would think that this would be just another second chance romance, but Ms. Blakely crafts such unique and special characters, with circumstances all their own that makes each book its own, and she does that again here. Lola and Lucas are fun, witty and sexy. This book was over too fast, but I very much enjoyed it and had a blast reading it. Overall I very much recommend One Night Stand-In by Lauren Blakely as well as the other books in this series.
(I voluntarily reviewed an advance review copy of this book I received for free in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)
I’m a sucker for a Latin man with a fun sense of humor, a sarcastic and sometimes gruff personality, and sex appeal in spades. So, I’m just going to say it (you knew it was coming). Lucas has to be my favorite LB hero so far (until the next one I fall in love with; it’s a pattern with me). This guy checks off every one of my boxes. Aside from the aforementioned qualities, he’s also loyal, loving, has the biggest and most giving heart, and plenty of ungentlemanly qualities. He’s perfect book-boyfriend material.
Lola is fantastic. I adored her from the beginning. She’s got that same sense of family loyalty that Lucas has, and also the same giving heart. She’s bold, sassy, fearless, and always shares her opinion. She gives back as good as she gets. I love her confidence and her hint of vulnerability where Lucas is concerned. She’s an irresistible whirlwind for him.
These two are so much fun and fantastic from the very beginning. Their chemistry simmers right under the surface and their banter is both witty and flirty. They’re great together. This book will make you laugh, swoon, fan your cheeks, and smile from ear to ear. I’m absolutely in love with every Lauren Blakely book I read, and this one is no exception. It’s a must-read for any LB fan!
Lauren Blakely’s Boyfriend Material series has been so fun, and I loved One Night Stand-In! I adore that the series is set in the book publishing world and has so many *winks* for us romance book lovers. Blakely treated us to another scavenger hunt, which was so fun in her book Birthday Suit. This one was the vehicle for Lola and Lucas to reconnect and rekindle a steamy attraction from years ago while searching for the belongings of their respective siblings. Their banter was delightful and I enjoyed reading about each clue and their adventure in solving it. This tale was low on the drama scale and off the charts on swoon-worthy moments. It was fantastic and I tore through the pages with great relish. Blakely’s books are always a treat.
There’s nothing I love more than a good enemies to lovers romance! I love the passion, the fire, the heat between the rivals! BUT throw in friends to lovers AND second chance and holy crap you have a great story! Blakely combines these three troupes Flawlessly!
Luca and Lola were best friends in college. Then one heated night it became more. But that fizzled way before it got started. Then they became rivals. Now they’re forced to work together for their siblings and a weird scavenger hunt. Time will only tell what will happened between these two and their scouring the city for their siblings belongings. Lol!
Love the storyline! The scavenger hunt was epic! And the characters chemistry was off the charts and their banter was awesome loved every minute of it!
Lola and Lucas’ story in One Night Stand-In was one fun adventure. Both had feelings for one another as students in college until one fateful weekend drove them apart. Now, ten years later their siblings have reached out to them to help them collect belongings of theirs that their very temperamental landlord has distributed all over NY. Realizing that Luna and Rowan would be deeply hurt if they did not retrieve their belongings back, they gladly decide to be the one night stand in’s and go on a search for the missing items. Lola and Lucas agree to put the past behind them and try to go back to being friends. Each can vividly remember the one steamy kiss they shared in college and begin to wonder if they could recapture the intense feelings they had for each other now. As they work towards the common goal of helping their siblings, they begin to realize they still have feelings for each other and find themselves in a steamy lip-lock and looking for more. Can they really move on after their one night together?
Lauren Blakely has written another book I consider a favorite!
One Night Stand-In
By: Lauren Blakely
Narrated by: Andi Arndt, Jason Clarke, Sebastian York, Zachary Webber, Shane East, Erin Mallon
Series: Boyfriend Material, Book 3
Take me on a scavenger hunt and I am thrilled. Anything to get my brain working to find the next clue. This is what Lucas and Lola embark on for their siblings. These two have a history, and now that they have been summoned to find their younger siblings apartment contents, they will have to put their past behind them and work together to get the security deposit back. But with hurt feelings and years of longing will these two find a way to work together? Talk about chemistry. Lauren Blakely has these two melting my ears even before they get together. They are combustible! But that is not the only part of this story that I love. I love how she has them talking, enjoying conversations as they catch up on their lives, search out tablets and enjoy a tango! It’s fun and flirty, steamy and passionate! Finding the clues is half the fun as we meet the quirky characters along the way.
French Kisses is closing the audio. Erin Mallon and Shane East bring this novella to life. How much fun can you have when you have one kiss that keeps you looking for that person for years later? These two bring Reed and Marley to life as they enjoy their one kiss…until they meet again. Sparks fly and love is in the air with this novella.
Blakely prides herself on casting her narration and I have to say she is spot on every time! This one was a blast for me. I love Andi Arndt and Jason Clarke. They are amazing at their craft and bring Lucas and Lola to life. But I was cracking up with Sebastian York as he was taunting Lucas and Lola! Then give us the treat cameos of Zachary Webber, Shane East and Erin Mallon and my ears are just bursting with joy. A fantastic performance!

This is the third book in the Boyfriend Material Series. I haven’t listened to the first books in this Series yet. This is a great enemies to lovers, and second chance at love. Lucas and Lola’s story is fun, sweet, and sexy. They share an undeniable and sizzling chemistry. I loved to follow them in their journey. The cast of supporting characters is amazing. Andi Arndt and Jason Clarke did an amazing job as Lucas and Lola. In addition, the full cast narration brings to life the this story perfectly. The Bonus, French Kisses novella, is a great addition to this audiobook. Shane East and Erin Mallon did a great job reading this story. I loved it! Looking forward to listen to more books written by Lauren Blakely.
While I did enjoy this story, it seems that Asking for a Friend has ruined me for any other books in this series, so I am giving this only four out of five stars.
This is one of those books that make me appreciate dual first-person POV because we get both sides to the story. It had me laughing out loud! I love Lola and Lucas’s backstory and it was so much fun to watch them go on a scavenger hunt and rediscover each other.
One Night Stand-In is a second-chance contemporary romantic comedy written in dual first-person POV. It’s a standalone than ends with a HEA. No cliffhanger, no cheating.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
This is Book #3, and the final book, in the Boyfriend Material series. It is an interconnected series but you DO NOT have to read the other books in order to understand this one. It is a standalone with a HEA. It was a mix of rom-com, frenemies-to-lovers, second-chance romance.
One Night Stand-In was a quick quirky, funny, steamy, and sexy read. It is everything you have come to expect from a Lauren Blakely rom-com. There is no shortage of adventure and laughs here. This is Lucas and Lola’s story. They met in college and quickly became best friends. Then they crossed the lines of friendship, and due to a mishap/misunderstanding and lack of communication, they ended up becoming enemies. Years later, they are brought back together because of their siblings and a scavenger hunt. In being thrown together, nostalgia rears its head, causing romantic feelings to resurface. Will they be able to mend their friendships as well as their hearts? Read to find out!
It was such a charming, entertaining, and enjoyable read. It definitely fed the romantic in me. I adored these characters. They were a tight-knit group. They all had charming personalities and great senses of humor. The plot was well-developed and well-paced. I laughed and swooned often. I have really enjoyed this series and hate to see it come to an end!

Latin love! Terrific third story in a outstanding series full of love, laughs and great friends. It’s hot Latin love as Lola & Lucas get reacquainted after a ten-year fallout and a new quest to save their siblings possessions. The scavenger hunt brings the two frenemies together and the grown up Lola & Lucas are not only hot but mature enough to admit when someone’s wrong and act on those smoldering feelings. These two are steamy together and are a fantastic model for best friends to lovers. I love all the secondary characters from the gal pals to best friend Reid to the mysterious Harrison and not to be outdone are the Lovebirds, Luna and Rowen. Those young lovers are a hoot! Oh, and of course the hairy characters, Frick and Frack. This is a quick, easy read with all the good feels, interesting storytelling and wonderful characters.
One Night Stand-In is the third fabulous book in Lauren Blakely’s Boyfriend Material series. I have been loving this series and have been so excited for Lola’s story and it was so worth the wait. I just love her! And in Lauren fashion, she gave us a little tease at the end of Sex and Other Shiny Objects.
They were given forty-eight hours but they could only spare twenty-four. Twenty-four hours. They had twenty-four hours for this crazy-ass scavenger hunt to get their siblings’ most important things back and since they have a hard time saying no, it’s on. Except when they both said yes they didn’t know they would be doing this together. Two almost exes. Lola and Lucas have history. A friendship that was almost more. Five words changed it all and in turn they became frenemies and competitors in business for ten years. And now, they had to work together for the next twenty-four hours with clues from her sister, Luna and his brother, Rowan’s gleefully pissed off landlord. It was only twenty-four hours, I mean really, how much could happen?
So much!! So, so much! It’s twenty-four hours of fun banter, flirty looks, food, llama drama, and sexiness!! Can two ex-friends became friends again? Maybe even have a second chance at more? These two have some ground to cover in the city and in their lives. Will they make it on time?
Aw!! I loved every single minute. It’s a unique ride of flirt, heat, wit, and down-right fun. And of course it has connections to other books, those Easter eggs of past and future she gives us is the best ever.
Quotes:
“I think something nice and snug would do the trick on a white . . . hot . . . date.”
His jaw ticks. His lips are a ruler. “I hear overalls are hip.” It sounds like he drank battery acid.
I whisper, “I still remember how your lips taste.”
“How do they taste?”
“Incredible,” I say, as a rumble works its way up my chest. “So fucking incredible. But I keep wondering . . .”
He glances down at his erection, which shows no sign of abating. “Yes, she’s totally frustrating. I know. Trust me, buddy, I know.” Laughing, I tug him by the hand.
