What if you met the right man at the wrong time?StaceyHe’s a male escort. As in, he has sex for a living. As in, my hard limit.I’m supposed to be writing an article about him, not falling for him. But something about Matthew Shaw makes me want to suppress that hard limit. He’s smart, funny, and too beautiful for his own good. But he makes his money through orgasms…and I don’t share.I can’t. I … orgasms…and I don’t share.
I can’t. I won’t.
But I still want to.
Matt
There are reasons why I escort.
Reasons no one knows.
But when Stacey waltzes into my life, with her eager questions and fiery red hair, I start to imagine a different kind of life. The life I can’t have with her.
She’s the one I’ve been waiting for.
The gorgeous journalist who lights up a room.
But how can I ask her to stay?
If I stop, if I give up, I’ll lose everything.
I wish I could tell her why.
I can’t. I won’t.
But, God, do I want to.
This sassy heroine, swoony hero, soul-mates and fate story is a standalone and has a happily ever after.

I will admit that I was nervous going into this book because I cannot stand cheating and when the Hero is an escort, I was worried that would be an issue. Fortunately, I gave it a shot and I was not disappointed. Lynsey took a Hero with a usually taboo profession and turned him into a beautiful human whose goal was to empower women through their sexuality.
Stacey, who has had her share of dating disasters and losers, meets Matt Shaw when her boss asks her to write an article for their Women’s magazine about his profession. Despite their obvious attraction to each other Stacey has sworn off dating and wants to be professional about the whole situation.
The more she learns of Matt the more intrigued she becomes. One of my favorite lines of the book is when she asks him if he is worried about setting up men to fail because of the attention he lavishes on his clients during their time together. His response was perfect. “No, I’m setting the standards women should expect. They should be a guy’s first priority in a relationship. I’m showing them they shouldn’t settle for anything less.” ‘Sigh’
They both agree for one night together for Stacey to get the “whole experience”. But that one night is not enough for either and they have to find a way to make a relationship work.
This is truly a beautiful love story about a man doing everything he can for his family and the woman he loves. Definitely give this book a chance, what I worried would happen didn’t, so I was extremely pleased—this is me trying not to be spoilerish.
I highly recommend this book.

A male escort meets a journalist. Just that meeting should’ve clued me in that nothing about Matt and Stace’s story was going to be easy. How could it be when one’s job is to literally date other people!
I felt Stace’s struggle with Matt’s profession throughout this book. But, just like Stace, I fell for Matt. He’s sweet, he’s loving, and, aside from this one thing, he’s actually pretty perfect. Stace is one of the strongest characters I’ve ever read. She stands up for herself and says what’s on her mind. She had an awful lot thrown at her in this story and she dealt with all of it head on. She’s the type of woman I wish I could be.
This book has so much heat and passion. I loved the angst in this story and how hard Matt and Stace fought to find a way to make it work. I didn’t think these obstacles could be overcome or that I could root for this couple but I’m so glad that I was proven wrong. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Skye’s story and where she’s been sneaking off to in ONO!!
I absolutely fell in love with Matt and Stacey’s story. Seriously what would you do if the man you were falling in love with was a male escort?
Lynsey has done it again. Another 5 star read.
What if you meet the right person at the wrong moment? Super cute premise, and I expected a breezy summer read. Boy, did I underestimate Lynsey Stewart. She delivers her trademark smart and cheeky characters and sneaks in a great lesson on our misconceptions.
Stace is off men and focusing on her journalism career. Given her list of less-than desirable dates and exes, I get it. She’s young, smart, socially-minded, and a really kind person. When she meets her next article interviewee, Matt (escort extraordinaire), sparks fly. Can Stace look beyond her preconceived notions of what Matt does for a living or do they fizzle due to circumstance?
Matt is one of my favorite male characters I have read. He is obviously handsome and sexy (hello job requirement), but that pales in comparison to his brain, heart, and the reasons he is escorting in the first place. He isn’t contrived or simple, and I appreciated his struggles as Stewart reveals them.
Honestly, this story is the first in a long time to give me a tummy ache for these characters. The obstacles they face are large and many, and I felt for them both. It’s not angsty, but it’s emotional in the best way. I feel like I earned the character’s wins and felt their losses. That’s rare magic.
One Night Only has an amazing cast of support characters, all of whom I’d pre-order their books (if they get one). They are interesting and well fleshed-out, and they are funny as heck. Add in an amazing service dog and pop hits on an accordion, and you have a winner here! But my favorite part by far is how Stewart challenges what we believe about people because of what they do. She writes the confounding dichotomy in such a clever way that it’s never judging. It simply proposes the question and lets the reader engage in our own biases. Bottom line is we are so much more complex than what we do for a living at any given time.
I cannot wait to share this book once released. It’s stellar!
What if you met the right man at the wrong time? I absolutely love this phrase and it fits this story so well. Stacey is a journalist who is tasked with interviewing Matt, a male escort. These two have chemistry right from the beginning and it was so hard to read through this thinking how perfect they were together, only they weren’t together. For his reasons, he’s chosen this line of work to be able to afford certain things. Without giving too much of it away, when you find out his reasons, you really can’t fault the man. Matt has a very good heart. I loved this story and these characters so much. The banter between them was phenomenal. Everything they went through was totally worth it in the end.
One Night Only (ONO) follows Stacey, a journalist for a women’s magazine, who has been tasked with interviewing Matt, a male escort, for an upcoming edition. The two have an instant connection that builds over the course of multiple interviews, including a date where Stacey gets the full escort treatment. It’s clear the two want to explore more of their connection, but Matt’s job stands in their way. As fate continues to throw in each other’s paths, can they find a way to be together after all?
Lynsey M. Stewart is an automatic one-click author for me. Everything she writes is so beautifully written, and ONO is no different. I absolutely loved this book. Not only are the main characters interesting and relatable, the side characters lend a great deal to the story. (I secretly hope Lynsey has something in the works for a couple of them.) You will definitely want to read this.
This is a story that I know will stay with me for a long, long time.
Right man, wrong time is the perfect tag line this book. Matt is an escort, Stacey the journalist tasked with interviewing him. Their chemistry is strong and instantaneous, surpassing anything either has ever felt before. Fate seems to bring them together but there are so, so many obstacles in their way. This was a fast paced, thought provoking novel about love and trust and destiny.
Lynsey Stewart has quickly become a must buy author for me. Here she has written two very complex characters who fall deeply in love but must decide what to do with their feelings. It’s a fantastic story.
This is a different kind of love story. I didn’t see this one coming. When I picked up this book I already had a preconceived notion of how this book was going to play out. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The funny thing is this story is very much about preconceived ideas, expectations and so much more.
Once again this author has diverged onto another path in her writing. As always she does not disappoint.
This story is proof positive that we should never judge another person because we don’t know what is going on in their life to help them decide their life choices. Also we should never stop living or be afraid to take those chances. You never know where life is really going to take you. Do you always want to live in the safe zone or is it worth it to go to the danger zone?
I don’t do spoilers. I also don’t want to give anything away from your reading enjoyment. This story brings all the feels. I laughed, teared up, swooned, and felt the heat. It also begs the question do you believe in destiny or fate? That’s all you’re getting from me.
Matt and Stacey are combustible and are like magnets that are drawn to each other. Is she the yin to his yang?
The secondary characters add another layer to the book. I even got an education in terms In which I was unfamiliar. So it’s very informative.
I totally enjoyed this book. I read it in one sitting. So take one night only or slowly read it to prolong your enjoyment of this wonderful book.
I can’t wait to see where this wonderful author goes next.
If you are even *thinking* about reading this book, please, do so at the risk of your own sleep. This is such a “turn-the-stereotype upside down” read that it is impossible to put down.
Stacey has had her absolute fill of losers, idiots, jerks, and men in general. Her career is where her life is, even if it isn’t for a traditional “strong journalism” format.
Matt has it all… the looks, the women who pay HIM to treat them well… or does he? Some things just can’t be tucked neatly into a box, isolating themselves from other parts of one’s life.
When worlds, and expectations, collide, what happens next is up to fate.
Another masterpiece from an incredible writer. (Review after reading an advance copy.)
4.5 STARS
Two people, tied together by an invisible red string, meant to be together despite life’s circumstances. This is the underlying theme in this story where Stacy and Matt eventually find their HEA. Stacy is a bright, friendly, giving person whose dream is to write stories that matter. Matt meets Stacy when she is enlisted to write a story about his male escorting services. Matt is a stunningly gorgeous guy who ends up in this “job” due to some circumstances that require him to make a lot of money quickly. Both characters are pursuing their dreams, but Matt has had to take a more circuitous route to achieve his.
Having the hero of the romance in a profession where he is physically cheating on the heroine is a tough romance sell for a lot of people. I was really interested in how this author would tackle this dilemma and she does an excellent job of helping the reader see Matt’s point of view on the subject. The author does not shy away from Stacy’s feelings and her character really struggles with falling for a guy who is paid to have sex with other people. When real feelings become involved on both sides, things inevitably become complicated. Other characters in the story, including Stacy’s boss Anna and her supportive friend network, function to give the heroine an opportunity to discuss the different views about her dating and falling for a male escort. Stacy tries to move past her feelings, but continually runs into Matt in her life- being drawn together over and over. Their interactions have a level of intimacy and magnetism from the beginning. Some readers may struggle with the almost insta-love that the characters share. I feel that their relationship had an almost magical quality.
I enjoyed this story and how their relationship was complicated by the lives they were living. Matt and Stacy are instant combustion and the physical chemistry between them is off the charts. As expected from this author, this book is beautifully written. The word choices are poetic, and the author avoids having their story become tawdry or vile. The deeper theme of the red string makes an interesting read and a beautiful love story. If you are looking for a book that is more than your average love story, you should give this book a read.
First I will say this isn’t normally a book I would gravitate to….escort books just aren’t my thing BUT I love Lynsey Stewart’s books so I took a chance and dang I’m glad I did. Holy moly this book was so much more than I anticipated. It had depth and feeling and chemistry and emotion and I honestly couldn’t put it down. I had to know how the story ended so I stayed up way past my bedtime to make sure Matt and Stacey got their HEA. Lynsey Stewart thank you for protecting my heart….I was scared for a few chapters but I knew I could trust you and that means everything to me. 5 stars!
I started this book thinking it was going to be an easy breezy summer read. Not quite! I should have known Lynsey M Stewart would write a story and amazing characters that would suck me in immediately and wouldn’t let me go. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it definitely made me reach for a fan, and it made me think. What would I do for my family? What would I be willing to give up? This one is going to stay with me for a while.
This story will stay with you more than one night only!
The juxtaposition between Stacey and Matt, who both want to make other people happy and add an easiness to their lives, but possibly at the cost of neglecting their own, makes this a contemplative read.
An underhand offer from her boss, leads Stacey to “experience” one night with a male escort, however fate has an alternative plan in store.
This book is packed with hilarious events, soul searching moments, heartfelt emotion, lust and love.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and highly recommend you grab a copy.
I really liked this book it was such a feel good story and really displayed that women can be sexual and that we shouldn’t be ashamed of it.
One thing i really loved about this book was being based in England Lynsey m Stewart used some of the phrases that i miss on a day to day bases, i used to live in England and this book just took me back.
I loved the quirkiness of Stacey, i really thought she was a pleasant character who had bad luck with men either they were idiots or she met the right ones and the wrong times but she was an awesome character.
From the moment you meet Matt in this book you really get a sense of what an awesome man he is, the lengths he will go to to look after the ones he loves and that once he fell in love he would fall hard.
Of course with a story like this it won’t go smoothly at all, you can understand to an extent the problems Stacey has with Matt, but you can also see Matt’s side of why he has this job and that he can see no way out.
Loved reading thier story and seeing how it all pans out, i laughed in this book, i got emotional in spots in feeling what these characters could be, with there chemistry and connection it was flying of the page but i really enjoyed this story to the end to see how this unconventional love story would end.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes great banter and a bit of rom-com in there.
Matt and Stace… Goodness gracious! This a fabulous feel good love story that will have you happy, sad, frustrated and everything in between. Right guy, wrong time is the perfect tagline for their (semi)complicated story. I’m quite glad Lynsey figured out how to get in all the bits and pieces you need for a great love story without the story actually being a part of the stripper trope. Their story feels real, like it could happen to any of us. Stace is a friendly, somewhat eclectic, career driven, over thinker with all the answers of why it cant work. Matt is the sensitive kind hearted guy juggling family issues, school, and a job that while a little unorthodox, pays the bills. She keeps finding reasons they wont work, but fate keeps pulling them together. The only thing I had a trouble with (besides the stomach ache I had every time I had to put the book down) was some of the British slang Lynsey uses… Since I am used to so many US based authors it took me a minute to get into but once I did, it really made it feel more authentic to me, so don’t let it stop you!
What I love about Lynsey M. Stewart, is her style of writing.
I love the learning the British words.
Stacey, is journalist.
She has been given an assignment to do an article on a male escort, named Matt Shaw.
She has given up on dating.
She always seems to date the wrong men.
Matt Shaw, is a male escort. It’s not because he wants to do it, it’s a means to an end.
He doesn’t date, for obvious reasons.
When Stacey’s boss insists she gets there full Royal treatment to write her article, only problem when sparks start to fly, she can’t tell if the feelings are real or if this is just part of the escort experience.
What if you find the right guy at the wrong time?
How can you make that work? Can you make it work?
A beautifully written story, of two people, who’s lives compliments each other.
I’m looking forward to the next book by Lynsey M. Stewart.
I’m no stranger to Lynsey M Stewart’s books, in fact I’ve read them all. She’s an automatic one click author of mine and that’s because she always writes the most incredible stories.
Every single time in every single book I’ve connected with her characters. Lynsey has a gift of writing characters that I would wish to be within my close circle of friends and that means I find myself becoming heavily invested in them finding happiness as I read their stories. This connection that I have with her characters makes me feel every emotion that they are experiencing and Lynsey knows how to write a book that will take you on the most incredible emotional roller coaster ride….. One Night Only certainly being no different.
What happens when you find the right person at the wrong time? You put yourself through an emotional wringer that’s what, and I certainly could see and feel this happening to both Stacey and Matt throughout this book and I totally understood why. I absolutely adore both of these characters and I’m certain you will too. As you get to know them you will see why I so desperately wanted them to be happy. I was rooting for them to get together as I felt they were just perfect for each other.
Stacey is a girl who has the most amazing personality. I love how she connects with others and I could see that everyone who she came in contact with was immediately put under her spell. She is friendly, caring, bubbly and generous, and this is just a few of the wonderful qualities that I could mention that she possesses.
Matt is the full package – he’s good looking, caring, great personality and fantastic in bed. Once you meet him you will understand exactly why I want to claim him for myself 😉
The couple meet and their attraction to each other is instant. If you have read the synopsis you will know that Stacey is a journalist interviewing Matt about his work as an escort. She is writing an article about escorts to highlight various aspects of the job for the magazine she is employed by. Now you will understand why I mentioned earlier about the right person at the wrong time situation, because they want to be together but Stacey can’t get passed the reality that Matt will be spending time with other women. I can tell you that I totally understood her struggle with this, and I felt the author did a fabulous job of highlighting the thoughts that were going through both Matt and Stacey’s minds and the emotions they were experiencing as they tried to overcome the obstacles standing in their way. There are many twists and turns in the story and you will learn that there isn’t an easy solution which would enable them to be together. I absolutely loved this about the story.
I honestly couldn’t put my kindle down. I wanted to know what was going to happen and hoped that Stacey and Matt would get their happy ever afters. The secondary characters in the book add to the story perfectly. I’ve mentioned that you will feel all the emotions, and a book that brings out all the feels definitely gets a huge tick from me. I felt butterflies in my stomach through many scenes plus I laughed, cried and swooned too.
I’m so excited for you to read this. I know that once you meet and get to know Stacey and Matt that they will find a place in your heart, just like they have in mine.
When journalist Stacey meets male escort Matt to interview him, the chemistry is instant and sizzling – which makes her opportunity to have the full – er – experience of his job that much more tempting… and fraught with danger. This book takes a sensitive subject and treats it with honesty and care, seeing it through the eyes of two complex characters who share a strong interest in people and how best to help them. Stacey could come across as too good to be true, but she has flaws and insecurities that make her real. Matt is handling the cards he’s been dealt in the only way he thinks he can, and the two of them together are a delight. I genuinely didn’t want to put this book down – beautifully done!
Fate Finds a Way!
One Night Only is an adept love story, that truly surprised me. Matt is a male escort and that alone is an obstacle to his relationship with Stacey. However, he is so much more. Ms. Stewart brilliantly brought Stacey and Matt to fruition in my mind. These characters are vibrant, charismatic, vulnerable, observant, and compelling. Their quirks and banter are sweet and fun. Their attraction is more than just sexual and radiates from the page. As they learn more about one another, their adoration builds as does the complications of their reality. There are many obstacles that they endure throughout their journey. Ultimately they have to decide if finding the right person makes it worth overcoming those hurdles. This love story will make you examine your own prejudice and ponder a new perspective. It is refreshing and hopeful and inspiring. Everything a great romance should entail.
A fun, flirty but sexy read that will knock your socks off and it’s also a heartwarming story that will slowly pull on your heartstrings. The story had a lot of depth to it and talks about another side of a man that’s an escort. Definitely worth the read!
Stacey hasn’t really found a guy that she can not only trust but also feels more than just friendship for as it seems that some way or another, she just doesn’t seem to fall in love and isn’t really heartbroken over broken relationships. She works for a magazine as a journalist and when she gets her next big story, she’ll have to dig deeper into the escort business but mostly, the reason why Matt has become successful in a business that is not for everyone. When they first meet, there’s this instant attraction between them and feelings start to grow the more she gets to know him. Even though Matt feels so many emotions towards Stacey, he knows that what he does as a job stands in the way of them ever becoming more than friends. Not only is she writing an article about him, his life is complicated and he needs to do a lot to be able to move forward but also make her see that he is ready for something more. Will she be able to get past his job?… Will everything work out in the end?…
