A short sweet romance between Lady Penelope and Rector Hugh Tarleton. The overall quick story of Lady Penelope’s actions to avoid a horrid arranged marriage led her to Hugh. Both characters are kind, thoughtful, gracious, good tempered and good natured. A very nice story. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
One Night of Temptation is a perfect series ending to The Wicked Dukes Club. The whole series, alternately authored by Erica Ridley and Darcy Burke, was so enjoyable to read, with charming and slightly rakish heroes and independent, and sometimes feisty heroines.
Penelope Wakefield plans to escape her father’s efforts to marry her off to a lecherous, older suitor by faking her own abduction so she is “ruined.” Unfortunately, it becomes a real kidnapping. Hugh Tarleton who is a rector in St. Giles, a notorious slum area in London, observes her being kidnapped and rescues her. Darcy Burke did a wonderful job with the story of Pen and Hugh and their romance. He is such a caring man and Pen is able to see that in how he treats his parishioners and others in St. Giles area. This work is probably my favorite in the series although they are all delightful reads. I was fortunate to receive an advanced copy of this work to review. All opinions stated are voluntary and my own.
A great story of live conquering all regardless of life stations. In a time where daughter’s did as their parents dictated Penelope does everything to ruin herself so the old pervert her parents picked for her will bow out of the marriage. In doing so she meets Hugh who saves her. He is perfect for her, but he does not have a title. He decides he can’t let her go and his plan to get her away from her parents is gutsy to say the least. It was fun seeing how the plan played out. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
One Night of Temptation (Wicked Dukes Club #6) by Darcy Burke …Fantastic ending to the WICKED DUKES CLUB series….Thanks to the authors, publisher and #NetGalley for allowing me to preview and review this book and series. Rector Hugh Tarleton (The last of the “family” from the WDC) Lady Penelope Wakefield ( being forced to marry an old lech friend of her father’s) She has a plan to preserve her freedom but she is rescued by the rector… I was so happy to touch base with all the other members of the WDC and their wives… There are laughs, tears, angst, mean folks and steamy stuff all leading to a very HEA…and end to a wonderful series that I hate to see end.
Penelope is a daughter of a Marquess looking to escape an unwanted marriage to a horrid Earl. Hugh is a rector in St. Giles and becomes her savior and protector when her plan to escape the betrothal announcement goes awry. They have a connection like they’ve never experienced before.
This book has strong interesting characters that drew me in wanting to find out where their futures would lie. I can’t say I read a lot of books about rectors, vicars, etc. so I was initially wary about if I was going to like reading about a rector. But it is written in a way that makes the characters more human with everyday life concerns and fun moments. I found Hugh alluringly sweet and was rooting for them to be together.
I enjoyed reading the wicked dukes series and highly recommend any of the books in the series.
I’ll be honest and say that this book surprised me; I didn’t know that a rector could have such strong feelings. Even though this is a short read you could feel the connection between Penelope and Hugh from the bet go. They have much in common with wanting to help those less fortunate. I loved how much he wanted to protect her even if she would choose a life without him. It was so fun to read how he involved all the previous couples to help him secure his future with her.
Final book in the series and it was a perfect conclusion to it. If you’re looking for a fun, short and steamy in all the right places read for the summer this series is for you.

All it takes is one night to fall in love!
Hugh rescues Penelope from a very real kidnapping, only to find out that she has very good reasons to want to be presumed missing for the night. Ever the gentleman, he tries to help her with her end goal, even if it means he’ll never see her again. Their relationship gets right to the heart of what makes a good partnership and marriage, and I loved every quick-witted step as they stay ahead of the Bow Street runners and out of the reach of the common dangers in the area. I love the solution they found, and how Hugh was able to arrange it all. The last scene with her father was priceless.
As the last book in the Wicked Dukes series, we have a terrific epilogue that wraps up everyone’s HEA nicely. If you love Regency romances, you don’t want to miss these books. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This series has just been delightful. High and Penelope have a whirlwind courtship that leads to love and marriage. Unlike the others their’s is a chance meeting that leads to instant attraction. Darcy Burke captures the wonders of love and romance and delights her readers.
“One Night of Temptation” by Darcy Burke
A delightful Regency romance not to be missed, a quick and easy read. This is a story in “The Wicked Dukes Club” series which I have enjoyed tremendously. I really loved this story although the time with Lady Penelope and Mr. Tarleton passed so very quickly. I am glad for the time we had together. I received an ARC of the story from the author via Bookfunnel. I enjoyed my time with Darcy Burke’s characters and look forward to meeting more of her characters in future stories that come my way. Happy Reading !!

This is the last book of the Wicked Dukes Club. A beautiful historical romance about a Lady and a rector. It has a lovely plot filled with emotional and tempting moments. The characters are great, both of them nice, kind and helpful. The writing is excellent. It’s a delightful book that i highly recommend. I will rate it with 5 stars.
This book is a very nice, sweet romance between Hugh, a Rector and Lady Penelope who has cold unloving parents. They meet when Pen tries to run away for a night so she does not have to marry a man her father is forcing her to marry who is old enough to be her Grandfather. Hugh runs into her while she is in trouble and he is kind, caring, honorable and very protective of her.
This is the final book of the “Wicked Dukes Club” and it was a nice end. The characters from the other books appear and help Hugh and Pen. Darcy Burke and Erica Ridley did a great job with this series. I really enjoyed every book.
