Loved it just as much as I did Diana and Cole’s story.
Enjoying this series and this a another great story in the series. This tell the story of Thad and Priscilla. He is ready to get married and settle down and She just want to obtain her inheritance and be able to join her father and grandfather in thier travels. They are attacted to one another, but neither is willing to give up what they want from life. The characters are strong and i love the grandmother. The story is well written and held my interest. Recieved an advanced copy and voluntarily leaving my honest review. Looking forward to the next book.
Welcome to the third book in The Wicked Dukes Club. It is a page turner that will have you hooked by page one. Although a series, it can be read as a stand-alone. Thaddeus Middleton, is just a plain “Mister” and looking for a wife. Miss Pricilla Weathersby is a wallflower not looking for a husband. When they meet, friendship begins that turns into passion. What happens is sooo enjoyable to read. The secondary characters are well developed. There’s a kitten and a parrot who will steal you heart if not already stolen by Thaddeus. This is a wonderful series that you won’t want to miss. Erica Ridley writes the odd numbers and Delta Burke writes the even numbered books. I received this from NetGalley and am voluntarily reviewing. I glad give this five stars and highly recommended this and all by Erica Ridley.
I really enjoyed reading this book it’s has everything you want to read. There is drama and romance. The characters are entertaining and will make you smile and laugh as you read.
Wonderful story for entertaining read. It was pleasure to meet Thaddeus, romantic gentleman in search for love of his life and Miss. Priscilla, the lady dreamer of adventures and travels.
All recommendations for lovers of romance, good humored banters, witty and strong heroines.
Absolutely Amazing! This series just gets better and better! You will definitely need a huge pot of tea for this one! Dynamite 5 Stars for sure! I just fell in love with Thaddeus, he’s so sweet and so deeply romantic and your heart can’t help but yearn for him to find his perfect match! *Spoiler* Miss Priscilla is indeed the perfect match! You will just love the back and for these two go through, it will keep your reading long into the night! So settle down with a large pot of tea and enjoy and most romantic tale!
Such a sweet story!
Thad and Priscilla’s story was just delightful. Thad is ready to get married, and looking for love. He’s keeping his options open, knowing that looking in all of the same places isn’t going to cut it…in the meantime, though, he’s fairly content with his life: his rented home, his friends and family, and the biographies he loves to read. Priscilla never wants to get married; that institution hadn’t done her mother or grandmother any favors. She’s counting the days until her 25th birthday, when she hopes to use an inheritance to join her father and grandfather in exploring the world.
How could these two ever find an HEA together?
Every time the two of them are on the page together, it’s just magical–he’s just so darn adorably smitten with her, and is trying make her rethink her world view on meeting at a time. Her grandmother–the only person who’s stayed with her from the beginning–tries to point out some painful truths to her, but it’s an unexpected visitor who helps Priscilla to figure out where her heart is truly trying to lead her, to Priscilla and Thad’s relatively angst-free but very romantic conclusion.
Counting the days until the next book in the series! (Though this one would really work just fine as a standalone too)
Rating: 4 stars / A-
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I am really enjoying the Wicked Dukes Club series by Darcy Burke and Erica Ridley. In One Night of Passion by Erica Ridley we get the story of Thaddeus Middleton and Priscilla Weatherby. Thaddeus wants a wife, but one who wants him for him, not for who he is or what he has. Priscilla just wants to be free and independent to do her own thing.
When they meet, Thaddaeus knows she is who he wants and needs. But she has different plans, even if she has to ignore what she desires. I just loved how Thaddaeus was determined and slowly brings down Priscilla’s walls. But can she give up what she always wanted for love? This story was so sweet and fun to read. It was full of witty banter and great chemistry.
4.5-stars. Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens BooK Blog.
Happy reading.
Love is the greatest adventure of all…
If there was ever a contest for Mr. Congeniality, then Thaddeus Middleton would the winner, hands down! Although not titled, he’s a lovable guy, always trying to help others, and most of all a true believer of love. Priscilla Weatherby is his female counterpart. She shares most of his traits, but not her belief in love. What she mostly desires is to stay unmarried, inherit a tidy sum of money and embark on adventures around the globe, just like her father and grandfather. But fate has other plans. When they meet, sparks fly and although Priscilla keeps resisting, at the end of the day love is the greatest adventure of all!
This is a well written story with characters you can’t help but fall in love with. Add a foul-mouthed in multiple languages parrot, a sweet kitten, a crotcety grandmother, an absent-minded and mostly absent father… and you have a light-hearted read full of funny moments, witty banter and a sweet romance that will steal your sleep!!!
One Night of Passion is the third book in the Wicked Dukes Club series, and while there’s familiar faces from the previous books, it reads well as a stand alone. Thaddeus is on the hunt for a bride, but not just any bride – one that is based on love! When he sets his sights on Priscilla, he’s shocked that she turns him down, twice! Priscilla is determined never to marry, to become an adventurer like her family, but Thaddeus is changing her heart. But when her dreams could come true, will she jump at them or chase after love?
This book is so sweet. You have one man who knows exactly who he is but only dreams of love, and one woman with her sights on adventure but yearns for a connection. Both are searching for any signs and desperately trying not to fall in love, knowing it will only lead to a broken heart, but their connection is so true and sweet and passionate and I just wanted to give both of them the biggest of hugs! I think my favorite part was catching those big signs left and right that made this romance even more like a fairy tale, that showed fate was trying her hardest to work them together, and made it more difficult to accept that Priscilla wanted to leave. I cried reading this book, feeling like my heart was breaking for both characters, but I also giggled and swooned and felt my heart bursting, too. I needed this fairy tale and loved reading all about Thaddeus and Priscilla and about love and adventures!
Pricilla’s father and grandfather have left their home and family to go off and be adventurers, leaving their family at home, alone. Priscilla was raised by her mother and her grandmother. Her mother suffered from crippling depression, after being left by her husband/Pricilla’s father, and eventually killed herself. Being abandoned by her father and grandfather, Priscilla creates a dream for herself that when she reaches the age of majority and isn’t married, she will inherit a large amount of money and go off to join her father and grandfather on their adventures because, of course, her father would never abandon his daughter.
Thaddeus Middleton is looking to get married but wants a wife who wants him, not his money. When he meets Priscilla, he is taken with her but Priscilla has built a wall around herself. She is interested in Thaddeus but doesn’t want to risk losing her inheritance and the chance to join her father and grandfather.
As Thaddeus works to break down Pricilla’s walls, Priscilla finds herself torn as to what to do. She wants Thaddeus but can she risk losing her dream?
I liked this book. I did kind of want to shake her and ask her what was she thinking. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
Ready for love! Thaddeus seeks his future wife. Priscilla looks forward to travel. Liked the wealthy, untitled lead. Missed the presence and interactions of more of the leads’ friends. Enjoyed! 3 1/2 stars. (Standalone read in series.)
Voluntarily read ARC for honest review.
Thaddeus Middleton is on the hunt for a wife and he finds himself drawn towards Miss Priscilla Weatherby. Priscilla will inherit 10,000 pounds if she remains unmarried and no scandal is addressed to her name on her 25th birthday. She wants to inherit this money so that she can go adventuring with her father and grandfather. Her grandfather and her father left their wives to go adventuring returning only when Priscilla’s mother died though they missed the funeral and she was too young to go with them. Dad was well-liked by society even though he didn’t have a title her he wasn’t quite wealthy. He felt sure he would know love when he saw it. Coal Haven and Eastleigh were Duke’s who had just got married and co-owners of the profitable wicked Duke Tavern they were actually Duke’s. They both fell in love and that’s what Thad wanted to do to find out what happens between these two individuals you have to read the book. And it’s very good book…
I really enjoyed reading this book. The joy and love between Thaddeus and Priscilla were romantic. Priscilla had grand dreams and thought when she turned five and twenty, all her dreams would come true. Thaddeus had a different dream. He wanted a stable loving relationship. Even though they wanted different lives, they could not stop the attraction between them. An excellent read and I do recommend it. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The characters are witty, engaging. The plot is well thought out keeping you turning the pages. Very good addition to the Wicked Dukes Club series, all the stories stand alone, but as series they are outstanding seeing old friends from each story.
my free opinion. Thanks.
Wonderful romance with a thought-provoking twist!
Marrying for money was common enough in the 19th century, but this book puts a new spin on that concept by giving us a heroine who has chosen to remain unmarried, despite her grandmother’s best efforts, in order to achieve financial independence.
Thad is a gentleman through and through, and he has no interest in marrying for money, social position, or any of the usual incentives. Thad wants to marry for love, and his heart has told him that Priscilla is his perfect match.
Beyond this setup, the story has tremendous emotional depth as we learn more about the characters’ backgrounds and heartaches, and the unspoken reasons for the decisions that are made. The climax is cathartic, and their HEA delivers everything they’ve ever wanted. It was a spectacular read, the best so far in an amazing series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
March 1817, Almack’s London, England “Thaddeus Middleton, plain old “mister” in and endless line of plain old misters, considered himself the luckiest of men.” Signing the dance card of a wide eyed debutante, he could only think they would both be lucky tonight. He was looking for more than a dance partner. He wanted a wife. The great part was he had a Choice. He thought he might actually run into Princess Charming!
I loved this opened few paragraghs! It was a reversal of roles because usually it is the lady looking for Prince Charming, but I absolutely loved Thad and his optimism to find love! “If Almack’s was the Marriage Mart, he had a very specific shopping list: True love. What else mattered?” Yep I loved this guy!!
Then he spotted her. Miss Priscilla Weatherby whom he had met before several years ago at her come out. But when he approaches her, she really just rebuff him. You see Priscilla was playing a waiting game. She had to wait until she was twenty five to obtain her inheritence, but one stipulation was she had to be out socializing. Well, she did not have much longer to wait and she would be a wealthy spinster and do what she wanted!
But Thad is pushed by his cousin to try to get to know her and who knows? She might just be “the One”.
This was such a delightful humorous story that I could not help but smile through most every page. Would these two get together and would Priscilla consider giving up her inheritance and indepence to fall in love? Erica Ridley always pulls me in with her stories and I just can never get enough! Luckily there are more books in this series that she is writing with the fabulous Darcy Burke and these two authors together are two of my favorites!!
A different kind of adventure… Thad is looking for love, the kind of love his lucky friends have found. Priscilla is looking forward to turning twenty-five in a year and a half, when she will inherit enough money to be able to live a life full of adventure. She is determined to avoid romance at all costs, but despite her perseverance, the couple finds themselves in danger of losing their hearts to a lover who can’t be happy with a lifestyle that just doesn’t suit them at all. Add to this the pressure of unrealistic expectations, loss, misguided adoration, disappointment, and longing, and a happy ever after situation seems out of reach until love finally does conquer all. This story is beautifully written; a charming, funny, bittersweet, lovely book that questions what the heart wants, and what the heart needs. I truly enjoyed this book, and was thrilled to receive an advanced reader copy of it from one of my favorite authors. I have decided to leave my honest and heartfelt opinion, which is that I highly recommend this book!
What unusual characters inhabit this series written by two best friends, Erica Ridley & Darcy Burke. This on is about a hero who just wants to find a wife who loves him and a heroine who has no intention of ever marrying. It is a delightful weaving of two individuals looking in very different places for happiness and discovering the true adventure they weave together.
We met Mister Thaddeus Middleton in the first book, a welcome member of the Wicked Duke Tavern. He is an untitled gentleman of means who now that his ward, cousin Diana has found a husband, is looking for one himself. He wants a love match as his parents had and his cousin. He won’t settle for less but is afraid he’s waited too long and missed her. He’s an extremely likeable former barrister, who knows everyone and holds the office of MP in Parliament like his father.
Miss Priscilla Weatherby has determinedly made herself a wallflower. Her explorer father and grandfather are off in the wilds of Africa and Priscilla is determined to join them when she receives her trust fund at 25. Her mother passed when she was 9 of a broken heart after being abandoned by Priscilla’s father. Her grandmother is a bitter old woman after being abandoned by her husband, and rambles around in the old mausoleum of a townhouse with Priscilla. Priscilla is conforming carefully with the terms of her trust fund, attending social events at least 3 times a week, remaining unmarried and making sure no scandal is ever attached to her name. Her greatest fear is being left behind. At Almanacs one evening Thaddeus spies Priscilla and is intrigued. He find himself repeatedly seeking her because she rebuffs him at every turn. He finds himself attracted to a cleaver puzzle of a woman. This series is the first time I’ve read Erica Ridley and she’s enchanted me with her smart strong heroines and story lines that are different from the norm. I find I’m looking forward to the next story she pens in this series.
