Loved the story of Priscilla and Thaddeus! I liked the idea that there was no “evil protagonist” waiting in the wings to destroy the couple. It was just the choices they had to make regarding their past and their future. I wasn’t entirely happy with how Thaddeus was sorta romantically sappy in the beginning about finding the “perfect” princess, but his witty conversations with Priscilla made it worthwhile! My only problem was that I don’t understand French and several of the comments were lost to me! Thank you for the advanced copy!
Amusing story about a man who thinks he has found the perfect wife and a lady who is determined not to marry, but go adventuring instead. A talking parrot and a frisky kitten are great additions. I received an ARC of this book.
Pricilla Weatherby uses a point system to keep herself from temptation and to keep grounded with her ultimate goal. Stay unwed but on the market in order to claim her fortune and true independence. Failure is not an option.
Thaddeus Middleton is an unfailingly nice man. Lovely, kind and the only true threat to Pricilla’s master plan.
Because attraction and temptation can come in many forms, and its coming for Pricilla in the pleasing form of Thaddeus.
Can she withstand his brand of tempting?
I have to tell you, I loved Thaddeus Middleton something fierce.
He’s great. Charming, delightful, he’s my kind of temptation.
Highly recommend.

I’m loving this series.
Penelope tries to keep a low profile when out in public. At twenty-three she’s already considered on the shelf. If she can just make it to her twenty-fifth birthday, then she’ll get her trust fund to travel the world with her father and grandfather. But love has a way of changing things and when Thaddeus sets his eyes on her, he will do whatever he can to change her mind.
A short read with a fast pace.
Thaddeus Middleton has decided that he is ready to take a wife, so like any respectable gentleman of means, he begins his search at Almack’s. Thad is a romantic at heart and is sure that he will recognize the love of his life at first sight – there will be a sign, a spark, a bolt of lightning – something to let him know that he has found “The One”. But this night what he finds is Miss Pricilla Weatherby – most definitely not “The One”, but he asks her to dance is shocked when she turns him down.
Pricilla has a plan and it does not include marriage – her father and grandfather are adventurers and she longs to join them on their journeys, she hasn’t seen her father in years, but when her mother died he told her that he set up a trust for her – ten thousand pounds will be hers on her 25th birthday if she has not married. But there are conditions, she must not avoid the marriage mart, attend 3 events week, no scandal, she can’t ruin herself and she can tell no one of the trust. Priscilla knows exactly what she will do with the money – join her father in Africa – so she has followed the terms to the letter and perfected the art of attending without participating! But if she was looking for a husband, Thad would be exactly what she would want. He is intelligent, kind and handsome. When the meet again in the park and they chat, she really likes him but refuses to risk her heart and again shuts him down.
Thad wonders if insisting on a love match is just prolonging his loneliness, he misses his cousin Diana and when she comes to visit him, he wonders if he has missed “The One” – he does mention Priscilla to Diana and she is surprised that she was rude to Thad – he says it doesn’t matter, because she is not “The One” – Diana askes how he knows that and he says there was no sign. Diana tells him to try to get to know her before he decides that she is not “The One”, he receives similar advice from his friends at the Wicked Duke. And sets out to befriend Priscilla. When he arrives at her house, the weather clears and he sees a rainbow. He thinks he might have been wrong and decides that he needs to get to know her.
Priscilla is surprised to see Thad, she thought she made it clear that she was not interested, but as she gets to know him, her desires become blurred. And when her father returns unexpectantly and offers to take her with him on his travels, she will have to decide if she should go or if loving Thad is the real adventure.
This was a very sweet story, more emotional than I expected, but a true delight to read. The characters are engaging, the love scenes mild and the ending is wonderful. This is the third book in the Wicked Dukes Club series, but it can easily be read as a stand alone title. I truly enjoyed this story and would be happy to recommend it!
*I am voluntarily leaving a review for an e-ARC that was provided to me by NetGalley and the publisher.*
Loved the Hero
I have read this author for some time and truly enjoy her books. I have read other books in The Wicked Duke series, but not some of these earlier ones. I found this one to be a delight. The hero is so much fun. He’s just a decent “mister” (not a lordling) who believes in romance and true love even though he didn’t witness it firsthand with his parents. He keeps showing up at society events hoping to find The One. He’s kind and gracious… and perhaps a little naïve about true love and romance. In other words, he’s a total sweetie and an utterly swoon-worthy hero. Our heroine has an agenda as well, needing to stay in the society mix without making a match so she can inherit and be independent. The meet-cute was funny and charming—and you could certainly see the interest on his part right away. The author imbues this book with a fair amount of humor—which I would call a hallmark of this author’s writing style. If you like a well-written Regency that’s a little different from the normal with a sweet, unjaded hero, you may enjoy this book as much as I did.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
I love this series! Now in the third book, Thaddeus Middleton, is still looking for his Princess Charming. Thad is a kind, considerate and hopeless romantic who believes in marrying for love. However, year after year goes by without any one lady captivating him, that is, until he asks Miss Priscilla Weatherby for a dance. The set down she gives him should have discouraged him from further contact with her, but it has the opposite effect. Thad feels the spark with Priscilla and he’s not willing to turn away. Priscilla doesn’t want to marry. She’s holding out until her 25th birthday when she’ll inherit a fortune and realize her dream of being an adventurer, but is she missing out on a lifetime of happiness with Thad?
The characters in this story had so much depth–both Thad and Priscilla holding onto their dreams and finally realizes that a dream can change over time. There is no villain in this story. It’s a sweet, lovely story of how sometimes what you think you want isn’t the dream you think it is. Priscilla always wanted to travel with her father and thought he would want her now that she was grown, but what Priscilla finds out is that you don’t need to go half-way around the world to enjoy new adventures. Ms. Ridley has written a wonderful story and I can’t wait to read the next story in this series.
I voluntarily read this story and the opinions are my own.
Priscilla & Thaddeus’s HEA Story was Absolutely Adorable.
This Novella was Sweet, a little Sexy, hilarious & Romantic.
I Loved the kitten Wednesday & the Parrot Koffi & Pricilla’s Grandmother in the Story.
I really enjoyed reading this Novella.
Priscilla lives in London with her grandmother and her African grey parrot, a gift from her father, an adventurer. She has lived with the older woman since she was a small child while her father and grandfather have traveled the world exploring and sending back artifacts. Priscilla longs to join them, but cannot unless she remains unmarried for eighteen more months, until she reaches the age of twenty five and obtains her inheritance. Therefore Priscilla is doing everything she can to avoid falling in love or meeting the man of her dreams, because that will definitely interfere with the plans she has of adventuring with her father and grandfather.
Thaddeus on the other hand, is looking for a wife. He wants to be the prince charming in the love story of his life and he is looking for a love match. He may have found that with Priscilla, except she would have to choose.
It’s up to Thaddeus to convince Priscilla to choose a life with him as her life’s adventure, but will one night of passion be enough to convince her?
Wonderful story, a lovely romance with endearing characters and colorful characters and a few twists along the way. I enjoyed it and recommend it. I am thoroughly enjoying this entertaining series that this book is a part of, although a stand-alone, written by two separate authors, both favorites of mine.
I was a little let down with this book, I found it too wordy, I know you might think that that just does not make sense since it is a book, however once you start reading it you will know what I am talking about, we have Priscilla who longs to go on an adventure so she does her utmost to prove herself a wallflower, she stays on the outskirts at parties, dances with only the ones she knows have no interest in her since she is trying to get to her 25 birthday and getting her allowance and joining her father and grandfather. Thad is supposedly charming, super nice guy, not titled and seems to be a stepping stone for others to meet those who are titled however he does notice Priscilla and he wants to meet her and he finds that she has the spark that he has been looking for. Seems interesting right? The problem for me was it was a little too descriptive, again to wordy so it kept losing my interest had it lost about half of the words I would have liked more.
Rcvd and ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) Voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions
A lovely read with two very different characters but so good together.
I enjoyed this book, with all the ups and downs coming from a family in the high society and the demands that come along with that. The fact that our heroine is always helping everyone, but also stands for what she wants is a great point from me as i got tired of the damsels in distress in need of saving all the time.
Thad is a gentleman, a romantic at the core and so much a swoon-worthy hero that everyone will love him. He’s on a hunt for a wife but finds a woman that he’ll fall in love head over heels with her.
Overall is a good story, great writing that will keep you wanting more and will definitely recommend this book to my friends.
Book three in the Wicked Dukes Club series a well written story that I was not putting down until I had finished reading. Miss Priscilla Weatherby and Thaddeus Middleton will have so much to go through before they get their happy ending I did find myself smiling at some of the things in the book. I received an Arc copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
Mister Thaddeus Middleton, not a peer just a mister but he did not mind it. He was a sweet, kind and friendly man who just wanted love for himself. Now he had to find the other half, someone he could love.
Miss Priscilla Weatherby, was not looking for love or any of the other things young girls so enjoy. She wanted the inheritance that her father had set up for her. She could take that money and go find her father and grandfather. They were off adventuring and had been for years.
A delightful and kind of sad tale, Priscilla was lonely and felt unloved. She lived with her grandmother, who was bitter and old because her husband had gone adventuring and the last time she had seen him was fourteen years ago. I thought this was very well written and I enjoy it. There were a few twists but it kept the story interesting and maintained your attention. It has a few questionable spots in the book so you don’t want young people to read it. But for everyone else, it is a great read. The characters were warm and lifelike and seemed to grow throughout the novel.
Quick yet highly entertaining, emotional, heartwarming and engaging journey filled with witty dialogue, intriguing charters and a passion that will not be ignored….. was a great read from beginning to end and I really enjoyed the adventure.
This book is about a man in the marriage Mart of 1765. And how he picks his would be wife. It’s a fabulous book.
Great characters! I loved the verbal back and forth between Thad & Priscilla! They were fun. And the interactions between Wednesday and Saturday were hilarious. This has been a great tag team series by Erica Ridley and Darcy Burke and I am looking forward to the next book.
Be still my heart when it comes to Thad because any woman will fall at his feet and for good reason. There are many sparks between these two from the start and it just a matter of time before those sparks turn to flames. I loved that they were very different in their beliefs, but also very much alike when it comes to going after what they want. I did not see the reason for her grandmother’s pushing coming at all, but it was just what she needed. I’d love to see what kind of adventures these two get into.
Priscilla wasn’t expecting her plans to have someone like Thad thrown in the way and make her rethink things. I loved how she helped others and how she was with her grandmother. I cheered when she said no to her father.
Thad may not have a title, but he more charm than all the titled men of the ton put together. I love that he is such a romantic in everything he does and doesn’t let her push him away. He is one of those that you love from the moment you start reading.
Thad will be everyone’s next book boyfriend.

One Night of Passion, the third in Erica’s Ridley’s Wicked Dukes Club series, was a charming, well-written, romantic book. Thaddeus “Thad” Middleton is looking for a wife and wants one interested in him more than his money. He had observed that most Ton marriages were for political, financial or social reasons. He wanted romance and love.
Priscilla Weatherby has remained unwed and scandal-free after several Seasons in order to inherit a fortune and be free to travel the world. Her father and grandfather had chosen adventure over the women who loved them, and her grandmother was distant with her. The only HEA she expects is the one she makes for herself.
Thad and Priscilla meet at Almack’s, and he is immediately attracted. While Priscilla rebuffs him, he is not deterred.
“Only a fool would overlook a woman like Miss Weatherby”
Thaddeus Middleton is no fool. He sets out to enchant and captivate Priscilla, and she doesn’t stand a chance as he is determined to do all he can to win her. He is truly a hard-to-resist, swoon-worthy hero!
While this is the third book in the series, it reads very well on its own. I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it!
I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Awesome Regency romance between a young woman who dreams of traveling and exploring and a Mister looking for love. Priscilla want to be an adventurer like her father and grandfather instead of getting married and ruled by a husband. Thaddeus came from parents that were destructive and chooses to wait for love. The characters were so real and it was fun to watch them grow and change. The storyline dealt with what was expected of a Lady if the Ton and a woman who wanted more. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. Ms. Ridley writes so that the reader feels what the characters do and to root for HEA.
ONE NIGHT OF PASSION is the third book in the Wicked Dukes Club series. Though each will stand on its own, there is a lot of reference to the former matches and I would recommend reading them anyway – they are all five crown reads.
Thad doesn’t have a title or need one. He wants true love. He believes in The One and believes everyone deserves their one. Sigh! He wants a happy-ever-after.
Priscilla believes that if she just has her independence, she’ll be happy. So many of us live our lives with this premise. If I just lose 10 more pounds, I’ll be happy. If I just get that job, I’ll be happy. If I just get a different man, I’ll be happy. She isn’t whining. She isn’t looking for someone to save her. She is making a game of forcing fate towards her goals. She has made lemonade of the lemons life has given her, for now. But then Thad happens. I won’t spoil a moment of it by telling you a word of that. Just know that I think every word of it must be read.
Sweet and romantic from beginning to end, this is the story that can’t be missed.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
