A good read. Really enjoyed this
Charlotte never thought fairy tales were real, until she ended up in her own. She attended a ball against her stepmother’s orders and met the man of her dreams. Ash Marlborough is an advertising mogul and used to women throwing themselves at him thanks to his money and reputation. However, he was in a fire when he was young and has scars that cause people to cringe. Ash’s grandmother tells him to look for the princess and that’s how he meets Charlotte. I loved their grandmothers’ meddling. Between the two they didn’t stand a chance. Of course there is Elizabeth, Charlotte’s wicked stepmother and two stepsisters. Jenny is the younger of the two and just as mean and conniving as her mother. I was really glad Ash wasn’t just going to let Charlotte get away after everything Elizabeth and Jenny did to stop them from connecting. Charlotte was kinda mousy in the beginning, never standing up for herself and just letting her future slip away. The only thing I wasn’t fond of was the fact that Elizabeth never really had any consequences for all her dastardly actions. Jenny got what was coming to her and Rachel wasn’t such a villain after all. Perfect “happily ever after” ending. I enjoyed the story of Charlotte and Ash, although I do wish the insecureties and poor communication could have been tampered down a little. I do understand it was a modern version of a Cinderella story, but I wish Charlotte could have been just a little more forth comming and trusting, and I wish Ash had been better at talking to her. But all in all I did like this take on the Cinderella story and I enjoyed the writers style so I will be looking for more books from this writer!
