This is highly entertaining, romantic and interesting. Cole is impulsive, cocky, bold, charming, full of energy and can’t turn down a bet. Diana is stubborn, passionate, daring and bold. Diana is considered unmarriageable by her cousin because she refuses to dress in fashion, interact with society or consider any man for her husband. Diana’s cousin is lamenting this in Wicked Duke, a club owned by the Dukes of Colehaven and Everleigh, when he suggests a wager to Cole, 300 pounds to get her married by the end of the season. He can’t tempt other men by dancing attendance on here, and he can’t be the one to marry her. Cole of course takes the bet. Then finds it’s not only not as easy as he thought, he might also like her himself. They bicker and fight, even getting into each other’s faces, while he tries to get her noticed, and she hides against a wall. She won’t get married and lose her freedom, she has an important job to do, she has to make sure that people are not getting fleeced by shop owners. And even if Cole is trying to do the same things, she only wants to secretly be partners to change the country.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
One Night of Seduction is the first book in what promises to be a very interesting series by the extremely talented Erica Ridley and Darcy Burke. The Wicked Duke is a successful tavern owned by Caleb Sutton, the Duke of Colehaven and Valentine Fairfax, Duke of Eastleigh, the original Wicked Dukes, a name the friends earned while at Oxford. In this series we meet Cole, Eastleigh, and the other handsome, charming, sigh-worthy patrons of London’s most notorious tavern.
In the first story, the Duke of Colehaven, who has not lost a wager in ten years, bets that he can find a suitable husband for the “unmarriageable” ward of his friend Thaddeus Middleton. Once he meets and spends a little time with her, he will have her married off in not time (the bet is by the end of the Season). Well, it might not be as easy as he thinks. One, she does not wish to be married, and two, he’s not sure he wants her to marry anyone but him (that would cause him to lose the wager). To win the wager, he must see her married to someone else. What is a Wicked Duke to do? Which eventuality keeps his lucky streak alive, winning the wager or winning Diana?
Caleb Sutton never expected to be the duke of anything. He and his sister were the distant poor relations until a series of tragedies made him the Fifth Duke of Colehaven. He got a late start, but intelligent and tenacious, worked hard to prove he was capable and worthy of his title. He also made sure his sister was ready for their new lives. He shared his education with her by sending her lessons, books, and other materials. Diana came to live with Thaddeus when her parents died. He has taken good care of her and they love each other as a brother and a sister. Cole and Diana are perfect together. They are both reformers although they have different methods and platforms. Both are very intelligent, headstrong, and care about others. Felicity and Thaddeus are wonderful secondary characters. They understand and support Cole and Diana, and wish to see them happy. This lovely story is somewhat predictable, but has a few surprises. The exceptionally well-done characters win your heart and make the story. I happily recommend One Night of Seduction and look forward to the rest of the series.
“One Night for Seduction” is the first book in Erica Ridley’s new series and as with all of Erica’s books that I have read, everything about this book is sheer perfection. I love reading her books because she has a style of writing that makes me smile and transports me to a bygone era that I have always enjoyed reading about. Diana and Cole’s story is romantic, flirty and a delightful read. Their characters are engaging, multi-dimensional, strong willed, have great chemistry and their banter is humorous and heartwarming. I love how Diana thought she was fooling her cousin Thad but that he saw right through her and was supportive of her actions. I also like that Cole realized he could not change her and that they would make a perfect team of equals. This is a feel good story that I could not put down and ended with a wonderful epilogue. It’s a winner in my book. I am loving the patrons/members of The Wicked Duke’s Club and I look forward to reading more of this series.
I received an ARC of this book from the author. It was a pleasure to give my honest opinion about the book.
One Night for Seduction by Erica Ridley is the first book in the Wicked Dukes Club series, and it is off to a good start. The series will include a series of stories written alternatively by Erica Ridley and Darcy Burke. In One Night of Seduction we get the story of Cole, one of the owners of The Wicked Dukes Club pub.
The Duke of Colehaven, Caleb, (Cole) was not born a duke. In fact, his early life was not an easy one, but somehow, he inherited the title of Duke. Even without the title, he was determined to make more of himself. He is smart and determined. Diana Middleton is the ward of her cousin and the last thing she wants is marriage. She wants to free to make her own choices and help others. But her guardian has other ideas.
Now Cole is charged with finding an acceptable suiter for Diana, but what he never counted on was the chemistry they would have. Though he wants to keep his current winning streak going, can he deny what they feel? Even when Diana says she wants nothing to with Cole, she thinks he can help her. How will it all end? I enjoyed reading One Night for Seduction by Erica Ridley. It had charming characters and a sweet story. I am excited to read the rest of the series!

Happy reading.
What a delightfully wicked romance!
Start with a duke who wasn’t supposed to be a duke, add to that a willful young lady and a daring wedding wager, then throw in a good measure of social consciousness that reminds us of what really matters in life, stir it all together with plenty of humor and a dash of steam, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a wonderfully fun historical romance that you won’t be able to put down!
I loved Cole and Diana – each separately are terrific characters, but together they really hit all the right notes. There was never a slow moment in this story, and the HEA was as sweet as it was triumphant. All in all, it’s a wonderful book and an excellent start to a new series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I love this author. This new series did not disappoint. I can’t wait for the other books in the series.
What a great read with suspense, some action, intrigue.
The storyline was easy to follow and the characters and story flowed well. My free opinion. Thanks.
The start of a new series is always dicey, it sets the tone for all the books to come. When well written, entertaining, and engaging, it makes you impatient for the next book to arrive. Erica Ridley has me hooked with One Night For Seduction., the first in the Wicked Duke’s Club series. I can only hope she’s locked up somewhere typing her fingers off.
Our hero Is Caleb Sutton, Duke of Colehaven, apparently one of the nicest people on earth. As a distant cousin to the last Duke, Caleb was not raised to take over a title and estate. He’s tried very hard to learn and be worthy, in his eyes, of the position he’s landed in. He’s determined to use his place in the House of Lords for good and wants to be useful. Colehaven loves to win (who doesn’t?) and takes on a bet (500 pounds!) to find a husband for his friends unmarriageable 25 year old ward.
Diana Middleton is just fine, thank you. She may be pretty but more importantly she has a grasp of mathematics that I wish I had half of, I can’t balance my checkbook. She considers her life’s work to be protecting people from pulling their hair out dealing with weights and measures, England is a mess. Diana is single-minded in her determination to be useful and matter in this world that she doesn’t see there may be other options in her life. To marry would put an end to her work, so no thank you.
Colehaven and Diana strike sparks upon first meeting and by the end it’s a forest fire. They also have a witty back and forth that I enjoyed, no simpering or yelling. They’re both strong and convinced that his/her path is the right and only way to go. Compromise is the moral of this story. The Wicked Duke’s club itself opens up so many, many possibilities for tales that this series has plenty of characters to work with. I’m looking forward to the book up next, One Night Of Surrender where the Duke of Eastleigh get his chance at happiness. Happy reading.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

One Night for Seduction is a historical romance laced with humor and a unique hero and heroine. The Duke of Colehaven accepts a bet that he cannot find a spouse for an unmarriable lady by the end of the season with the stipulation he cannot marry her himself. Diana Middleton goes out of her way to blend in with the wallpaper. The self appointed weight and measurement inspector for all the businesses of London, Diana needs to not draw attention since her important mission is not quite legal. A meddling duke with a penchant to fight for the underclasses and a wallflower on a mission, its inevitable that the two clash in a humorous, sexy battle for equality and love that will leave the duke throwing in the towel on his ten year winning streak.. A page-turner of a story that will make you giggle and leaves you with a smile for a happy reading good time.
The roles in seduction are reversed when it comes to Diana and Cole. You know it’s going to be interesting when the butler get unnerved by someone calling on her. They butt heads from the start, but they are so much alike. I loved their battles because I never knew what would happen next. Everyone around them seemed to know what was going to happen.
Diana is a spitfire that goes to great lengths to hide from people. She is extremely bold in everything she does and doesn’t shy away from anything. She just needed to see it wasn’t her battle to fight alone.
Cole wasn’t prepared for the battles when it came to Diana. I loved his story about his life and how he went about things with her. He didn’t hesitate once he knew his feelings.

Character development was a little slow. The Duke of Colehaven (Cole to his friends) wagers that he can find a husband for the cousin/ward of one of his close friend. He hasn’t lost a bet in nearly 10 years so luck should be on his side, shouldn’t it? However, Diana Middleton is not interested in marrying anyone. Ever. Diana leads a secret life where she poses as an inspectress of weights and measures. Basically, she goes to shop owners and intimidates them in to doing things her way. She doesn’t want to give this up as she finds this life to be more rewarding than being a wife would be. Cole and Diane eventually fall for each other. When Cole proposes (not romantically), Diana refuses saying, “I want to marry you, but you don’t want to marry me.” Me, as in the person she is now, not the person he would have her to be. How they finally find their HEA is an interesting turn of event. There is a link to a bonus story at the end of the book (The Making of Mrs. Peabody). I very much enjoyed this story. I think it would have worked well as a prequel to this book because it’s Diana’s backstory and would have helped move things along.
Good, witty story. Cole accepts an impulsive wager that he can find a husband for his friend’s sister. But Diana has a secret life, has no wish for marriage, and is excellent at playing the wallflower. I received an arc of this book.
One Night for Seduction is the first book in the Wicked Dukes Club series. Cole is a duke, determined to be successful, but has never been able to resist a dare. When he accepts the challenge of getting his best friend’s ward married, he thinks it’ll be easy and is shocked to find that it’s anything but. Diana is determined to be a wallflower and refuses to get married because she leads a second life. But as Cole and Diana realize they might be perfect for each other, is there too much standing in their way to wedded bliss?
Oh my goodness, I loved reading this book! It was sweet, original, and had a slightly scandalous feel, and I loved that they both wanted each other, but it just couldn’t work. Cole was so likable, I enjoyed his upbeat personality, his outgoing nature, and I loved his drive to succeed and want to help others. Diana was equally driven, used her circumstances to the best of her abilities, and really believed in change for the better. I loved that they often were fighting for the same outcome, just in different ways. I giggled at times in this book, too, especially with all of the chess play! I also loved that while Diana was completely honest with Cole, it definitely took him a while to start to see things from her point of view. There was a fabulous connection between Cole and Diana, full of chemistry, love, and joy! I loved reading this book, I thought it was a fantastic beginning to a new series, and I look forward to more!
Great start to a new series! Erica Ridley does it again – another well-written, fun, sweet, spicy, angsty, charming love story. The heroine and hero are intelligent and very committed to their causes, but their personal lives and convictions are turned upside down the more time they spend together. Such a lovely HEA! Highly recommended.
One Night for Seduction is the first book in a new series being alternately authored by Erica Ridley and Darcy Burke, two of my favorite Regency era authors. In this first book, Erica has written an entertaining tale with engaging characters, witty banter, and a delightful yin and yang relationship between the two main characters. They were each equally good at giving tit for tat and one-upmanship. There were no dastardly villains in this work. It was a perfect, lighthearted Regency romance with the right amount of steamy. So enjoyable.
I was gifted an advance reader copy and voluntarily provide this review and look forward to the others in the series.
one guy who always wins his bets and going on a 10 win bets streak takes a bet to find someone to married a lady who does not want to get married and tries to get everyone to do things one ways
Lighthearted, Regency romance. Diana and Cole rub each other up the wrong way when they first meet, but this soon changes. Lots of humorous situations which make you smile, and a lovely ending. I enjoyed this book.
The Dukes are off with Cole and Diana. Cole swears he can win any bet until he meets the only woman who challenges him, Diana. Erica Ridley once again writes a quick and witty story of remarkable characters. They keep us entertained with their unique antics and willingness to go against society norms. Excellent job as usual!
Not your normal Regency romance book; not a rake or sluggard or any maligned Duke. The Duke of Colhaven is “nice” and helpful and polite to everyone. He does, however, like to take a dare or wager. It is just this fact that gets him into trouble with his friend Thaddeus who wages a dare with Cole that he can not find a husband for Thaddeus’ cousin by the end of the Season, but Cole can not marry her himself! One Night for Seduction is well written as are all of Ms. Erica’s book and easy to read and to get lost in the story. Delightful!
ONE DAZZLING ADVENTURE!!!
OMG! Talk about thin lines. Erica brought the magic with this baby. A whirlwind of activities and events that keep you flipping page after page. One rollercoaster ride of activities and events that force all of those swirling emotions to burst front and center. One intriguing storyline and thrilling plot bring this little gem alive flawlessly. The characters are realistic with personalities and depth that draw you in. All the non-stop action, smooth flowing, hard hitting and suspense bringing piece after piece together brilliantly. The scenes are so vividly detailed it gives the illusion you were right there with them. Remarkable job Erica, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
