Caleb Sutton, fifth Duke of Colehaven (Cole) and Miss Diana Middleton are on a collision course because of a dare. Cole takes the dare that he can find a husband for his friend’s “unmanageable” ward by the end of the Season. It seems simple enough, but then again if it were simple, there’d be no story. Diana is at war with society, for every vendor who cheats a customer, for every transaction that is not weighed correctly, for every injustice she thinks the common folk suffer and that Society ignores. She does it secretly posing as an inspector to make shop owners comply. It’s dangerous work and when Cole discovers her ruse, he is outraged that she is putting herself in harm’s way day after day.
I enjoyed this story and Ms. Ridley has written another clever story. The banter between Diana and Cole was priceless and even her set down of him felt justified. I did think that Diana’s passion seems a little too modern–a crusader for the downtrodden–didn’t quite ring true for me. Besides this one little complaint, the story will keep you entertained until the end.
I voluntarily read this book and all opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this book, nice characters people who do good in the world at a time of the idle rich.
It was a very nice story. I really enjoyed the humor and banter between the two characters. Minor characters were humorous and a joy to encounter in the story.
I have over 30 books from this author. I enjoyed the book.
Enjoyed reading
Interesting love story that start out from a bet. I bet you can not put it down?
“One Night for Seduction” (nook) is a delightful love story. The characters are compassionate, strong-willed and giving. A short and sweet passage to a HEA.
Members of the Wicked Duke, a tavern owned by the Duke of Colehaven “Cole” and his best friend, dare Cole to find a suitor for an unmanageable ward. Cole immediately accepts. He cannot imagine that a pretty and young lady will be much trouble. He appoints himself bodyguard and duenna, only to discover his own desires may be the greatest danger of all. Diana Middleton lives a double life, bringing dishonest merchants to justice. Shaking off a meddling duke should be child’s p lay. Yet the more they lock horns, the more she wants to lock lips. Her scandalous secrets would derail his political career. She does not think there is harm on one little seduction though. – Diana is intelligent and stubborn. Cole is also stubborn, determined not to lose a wager, and drawn to Diana’s intelligence. She is unlike her debutantes, and he likes it. This is an entertaining historical romance.
Didn’t finish. The heroine seemed annoying. I’m not sure why she felt it was her job to police local merchants nor did I care enough to find out. I usually like Erica Ridley books but the characters in this book just didn’t seem to interest me.
I loved this book. So life like. I feel I am involved in it.
It was not such a traditional Regency love story. Cole was not the usual Duke and the spinster heroine was not the expected usual heroine. Their love story was sweet, especially his final proposal.
Erica Ridley does it again. With wonderful characters. A great read. I wouldn’t miss one of her books.
Love all Erica Ridley books.
One of my favorite writers
One Night For Seduction is a fantastic historical romance by Erica Ridley. Ms. Ridley had provided readers with a fun and well-written book. The cast of characters are spectacular and my favorite part of the book. Diana lives with her cousin because her parents died and left her with nothing. Her cousin wants her married but she is determined to not marry and continue with her secret work of keeping vendors honest by weighing products. Cole hasn’t lost a wager in years and when Diana’s cousin bets him to find her a husband, he agrees. Cole and Diana’s story is packed with drama, humor and spice. I enjoyed this book and look forward to my next book by Erica Ridley. One Night For Seduction is book 1 of the Wicked Dukes Club but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
A fun read.
Set in regency England with modern day issues addressed. Great read!
Loved, loved, loved this book. The characters were fun to follow as you follow along to the HEA. I also fell in love with the supporting characters. Couldn’t wait to follow their stories in following books (which I purchased as soon as they became available). This series is fabulous. You really need to read this to start along this path. So romantic, fun, and swoonworthy.
They’re better together than apart
I love a fun read with some interesting history and a thought provoking message. One Night for Seduction by Erica Ridley is just such a read.
Miss Diana Middleton is a master of mathematics, efficiency and disguises. Her goal has been, and still is, the pursuit of fairness for the average citizen. However, the way she is going about it could have serious consequences.
Caleb Sutton, fifth Duke of Colehaven is finally on the cusp of achieving all he has been striving towards for more than 10 years. Though daring, he has forsaken recklessness in pursuit of a leadership role in Parliament. However, his last wager may just be his undoing.
I enjoyed this stand-alone book so much that I finished it in one sitting. Diana and Cole were so perfect together, even if they were slow to realized it. I loved the setting, the supporting characters and the historical descriptions. Their story was very well written with grin-worthy banter and a sigh-worthy happy ending.
Content 411: This book contains only a few (10+) mild swear words, some passionate kissing and one mildly described sexually intimate scene.
Wonderful store you will love it.
Best to read the books in order.
