I LOVE Aleatha’s twisty work – but I have to say I greatly enjoyed this lighter side too. Just a fun story and entertaining. Thanks Aleatha – NOW – onto her next book LIES…
I am absolutely LOVING this lighter side of Aleatha Romig. These books are fun, sexy and encompass everything I look for in a 5 star read.
If you are a fan of Aleatha’s darker side then you DEFINITELY need to read her lighter side….she will have you falling in love and swooning something fierce. Her darker side can take many readers out of their comfort zone, but her lighter side will bring you back home.
One Night was just as fabulous as her first lighter book Plus One. I will say that I thought this book was a little more emotional than the first book. This one touched on a touchier subject. Losing a loved one is always a more emotional subject, but what I loved with this one was even though this was the topic, she was able to make it lighter and fun without making light of the situation.
Aleatha’s writing is amazing!!! I love anything she writes. Whether it is dark and deep or light and sexy, she will suck you into her characters world. Her storylines are fun and refreshing and she gives us characters that are lovable and relatable.
One Night is a standalone novel told in Dual POV. It’s the story of Amanda and Malcolm. No other book has to be read to enjoy this read. But once you read this book you will want to read Plus One if you haven’t already. This is a complete story with NO cliffhanger. You will laugh, smile, swoon and fall in love while reading this story.
Amanda is a single mother who tragically lost her husband and has decided to not date anymore and only focus on her son. That is until her best friend Sally and her mom talk her into going on a Blind Date….it’s only One Night!! So she does and how it all turns out isn’t anything she expected. Malcolm is an ex pro hockey player who is trying to change his playboy image. He moved away from Florida and is now a teacher and soccer coach. He also agrees to a Blind Date with a friend of a friend. Little did he know that his life would change that night. What happens when what is supposed to be One Night turns into something more?? Read this fun and sexy read to find out.
So if you are looking for something a little safer and lighter from Aleatha Romig, you need to read her lighter side Leatha, in One Night. This is definitely a favorite of mine for 2017 and I think it is a MUST READ!!!! I look forward to more of this side of Aleatha.
I loved Mandy and Malcolm’s meet-cute, and laughed when the mix up was realised. She is a doting single mother with great support, but has lost her need to live for herself. He as left the thrill of sports to study and teach.
The story has wonderful characters, is sweet and steamy, great friendships and an adorable five year old!
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
Amanda Wells is trying to move on with her life, it has been almost five years since she lost her husband and she wants to make a life for her and her son better. She feels guilty anytime she thinks about doing something for herself. When her BFF Sally wants her to go out with her husband’s friend, Amanda doesn’t think it’s a good idea. She finally agrees, can one night with a man make her feel like a woman again? On the night for the blind date, Sally and her husband Brian doesn’t show up because there is an emergency at Brian’s work. Amanda is debating on leaving when she meets Malcolm. A handsome man that leaves her tingling from just his touch. Maybe one night with him is just what she needs.
Malcolm Peppernick is looking to change his life, tired of the retired hockey life and chicks that follow the players. He moves to the town where his old teammate Brian lives. Brian and his wife Sally talk him into a blind date with Sally’s BFF. And you know how blind dates go. But while he is waiting at the bar, a beautiful woman sits down beside him. And after talking to her for a few minutes, he just wants to get to know her better.
Can Malcolm talk Mandy into spending the night with him? Will Mandy tell him her secrets? What happens when they learn who the other really is? Can One Night turn into forever?
I loved everything about this story. It is funny, heartwarming, heartbreaking and perfect. If you haven’t read anything from Aleatha Romig and are looking for a good heartfelt story, then you need to read this one. You will not be disappointed.
**Wicked Reads Review Team**
Mandy and Malcolm are a truly incredible read in One Night. Aleatha is absolutely at her best in this incredible read. Light, fun and absolutely fall in love with these wonderful characters.
I just love me a bit of Aleatha!! Whether its her dark and twisted side or ‘Leatha, her lighter sweeter side, you just can’t go wrong with one of her books!!
One Night is a sweet and sexy read as opposed to the funny romcom of Plus One, but still it was a really good read.
Mandy is mid twenties and a war widow, her husband having been killed whilst in the military, leaving her with a very young son, Jase, whom her world revolves around. But her family and friends think its time she started moving on and getting back in the dating pool, which she is very reluctant and nervous about, and is set up with a blind date. The evening doesn’t go quite to plan with her friends not being able to make it, but she meets a man named Malcolm who she gets on well with, and decides to go with the flow and let herself live for just One Night only.
Malcolm ‘Pep’ Peppernick is an ex-hockey star, having lived the highlife and been the playboy, is out of the game and changed jobs and states and looking for something more out of life. Having met Mandy at a bar where their attraction was palpable, they decide to give themselves One Night of fun.
But Mandy is determined that its just a One Night thing, she has no intention of letting Malcolm get close or letting him get to know her son. Malcolm has to convince Mandy he is safe and genuine enough to get her to let her barriers down.
This is a sweet, loving read, quite angsty and emotional at times. I loved the characters, Mandy being very protective and very ‘mum’, I understood where she was coming from. But Malcolm was just yummy, sweet, sexy, patient and caring and knew what he wanted. But of course being so untrusting and compartmentalizing your life only leads to trouble and misunderstandings, as the pair find out.
Beautifully written, with some great characters in their family and friends, it was such a pleasure to read, very moving at times, and I loved every minute of it. Highly recommended reading.
Love- Fun, light and sweet.
One Night was heart warming and beautifully written. It is a second chance love story with array of emotions.
Malcolm fulfilled his childhood dream of being a hockey star now he wants more out of life. He wants a career that will reward him in ways hockey wouldn’t~a quiet life inspiring others to reach their dreams.
Mandy lived her childhood dream when she started a family with the love of her life–until it all came crashing down. Now, her only dream is to love and care for her son until her mom and friends convince her to take One Night to remember what it is like to feel.
When one door closes another opens and fate has other plans for Mandy when her dining companions have to cancel after she arrives.
If you add one drink while waiting, one protective gentlemen, one table to talk and one smile you are guaranteed one hot kiss. And one kiss is only the beginning to One Long sexy Night. Can One Night open your heart enough to start living again?
Aleatha does an amazing job of being her characters to life – they are fun and exciting. I fell in love with Malcolm- head over heals in love.
Aleatha is on a roll with her “lighter side” romance books. The queen of dark is shinning with her lighter side tales and I can’t get enough.
Mandy and Pep have some great chemistry when they first meet and right away you know they will not be able to stay away from each other. I just enjoyed these two characters and their story. While this story was long on angst, and I do love me some angst, I finished it all in one sitting and couldn’t really put it down. The flow and over all tone of the story was on point and I really recommend this to anyone who enjoys the “lighter stuff”.
I just have to say I LOVE the lighter side of Aleatha Romig. I’ve heard great things about her darker books but I’m still a chicken and can’t read those books. Maybe one day. But for the meantime I will continue to stick with my lighter reads from this author. Not too many authors can switch genres and make it feel believable. Romig has had no problems crossing over and One Night is another hit! Right off the bat Malcolm and Amanda have an instant attraction and normally I don’t like that in a full length novel but Romig was able to pull it off. The relationship going forward was well developed, I loved the cast of secondary characters, the writing and the story flowed wonderfully. We had plenty of funny, sexy and sweet moments. Overall, This book was an all around feel good read! If you are looking for light books that will leave you smiling please check out this book and Plus One.
An endearing story. A wary widow with a young son and a maturing ex-jock. Lots of hot, steamy scenes. and she has the stereotypical sailor’s mouth during those scenes.
Part of “All ONES: Complete Collection (Lighter Ones)”
To say that I liked this new book from ‘Leatha, the Lighter Side of Aleatha Romig, would be an understatement. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED AND ADORED IT! Once again, Aleatha Romig has hit it out of the park with this beautifully written, thoughtful, second-chance-at-love story. It’s all here…the smiles, the tears, the angst, the feels, the sweet, the steamy, the sensual and oh-so-dreamy-hot sex! This “lighter side” offering gives us two embraceable, engaging, lovable main characters that grab and tug at your heartstrings. Malcom and Mandy’s story ebbs and flows, keeping you turning page after page, until arriving at the end, feeling satisfied and happy. What more can a girl ask for? In my opinion, nothing, except perhaps maybe my very own Malcom?! One Night is the perfect feel-good read. Grab it and make your heart smile!
I see fate all through this book starting with how they met. This is a fun book with wonderful characters and a happy ending. I enjoyed the premise of “One Night” with Mandy being a widowed single mother, I enjoyed how her relationship with Malcolm developed, I loved how patient he was with her. Great book.
“You said you want one night. One night doesn’t end with a kiss. It begins with one.”
I’m loving this light side of Aleatha, and she’s getting out of Her shy persona to write some Hallelujah Scorching Sex. Imma likey!.
Amanda Wells Harrison is a young single mom . Her life has only one man -5 year old Jase and she’s totally besotted and dedicated to him. Having played the Mom for so long, she’s forgotten how to be a woman. Her needs and wants pushed to the bottom of the pile . Then she’s forced on a blind date by her bestie ,Sally and Brian. As fate would have it, she ends up with Malcolm Peppernick that evening in the bar and lo, there are sparks, there’s chemistry and soon they indulge in Physics, aka horizontal Motions.
The story is very sweet and syrupy. Malcolm “Pep” is a retired Hockey Player and generally not a “hangaorund in the morning” kinda guy. He firmly believes in Not having a girlfriend but full body aerobics with benefits.. But the heart knows when the heart knows .
“Let’s not say forever. Instead, let’s say we’ll be together for one night…a night that goes on forever.”
I loved the chemistry between Mandy and Pep, Jase is adorable.
Aleatha note this –> when Malcolm says in the bar “On the contrary, you, beautiful lady, owe me a drink. You can’t leave with a debt unpaid.” I SWEAR my heart stopped beating for a minute !!
You can’t go around scaring people like that !!!**phew** ( I guess Tony’s Ghost never will leave )
All in all a sweet peppy story
