When Sarah Rawlings fell for her best friend’s older brother in high school, she knew he was trouble. But she couldn’t resist his pull and the sweetness she sensed underneath his protective bad boy persona. Their relationship was everything she had ever dreamed of, until she was rocked by his painful betrayal. Eleven years later, Sarah must return to Whidbey Island following her beloved … grandmother’s death. She knows she must stay away from Ian, but he’s not making that easy and every time she sees him, she’s reminded of what might have been.
One look at Sarah stirs up memories regrets that still linger in Ian McLaughlin’s heart. She was the love of his life and he still can’t understand how he blew it and how she could have also hurt him so badly in return. He plans to steer clear of Sarah while she’s on Whidbey Island, but that’s impossible when she’s often at his family’s pub. Thinking to indulge in a little casual seduction for fun, neither is prepared when the embers burst into flames.
So many years and secrets separate them. Can their powerful attraction also include understanding and forgiveness?

One More Round is a fantastic contemporary romance by Shelli Stevens. Ms. Stevens has delivered a well-written book. The characters are outstanding and just plain lovable. Sarah is returning to Whidbey after eleven years away. Sarah left her daughter with her mother while she came to take care of her grandmother’s house. She no sooner arrives than she runs into Ian, her old love interest. Sarah also has a secret. Sarah and Ian’s story is packed with drama, humor and spice. I enjoyed reading One More Round and look forward to reading more from Shelli Stevens in the future. One More Round is book 1 of The McLaughlins Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Finding the Truth
Sarah was back in the island to settle her grandmother’s home. She left her daughter Emily with her mom in Florida, she had one person to avoid. Kenzie met her at dock and the rest brings the past to the present. Ian love Sarah but a bad night drinking at a party ruined his relationship. Now she is back.
It was a happy ever after , but you still didn’t know until the end of the book. Really enjoyed this book.
I love this book. The characters were awsome and I love the fact that they fixed there problems. It was refreshing to know that no one is perfect. I only wish there was an epilogue but, I guess since there is more sequels an epilogue isn’t needed. I love the story and recommend it to anyone loooking forward to reading a story unlike most.
The story for me is just ok. However there are some things I just didn’t like. There’s a bad character from Ian’s past that seems to be only present to make Sarah doubt him. Ian wants nothing to do with him but Sarah sees them together every time they talk. I just think he could have been used better. I didn’t like how Sarah talked to Ian. When they broke up in their youth she said things to him that she needed to apologize for. The fact that she didn’t before Ian made a move on her really bothered me. This wasn’t enough to push me to dislike the book because some things were done right for me.
Got me hooked. Had to buy the series!
It was a sweet love story that goes to show that sometimes you make stupid decisions when your young
This is the first book by this author that I have read and this is the first book in The McLaughlins series; which is republished. Former title is: Good Girl Gone Plaid. The book is a stand alone issue but each book has interconnecting characters. One More Round has great characters, a fabulous plot, little angst, no cheating, a HEA and falls into a few categories of tropes.
This book is the story of Ian and Sara and it takes places on the Puget Sound of Washington State. There is 4 siblings who are from Scotland originally and it centers around the McLaughlin Pub.
Can’t wait to read the rest of this series!
Great Book!
A good day read
I read this before when it was Good Girl Gone Plaid and again as One More Round. Either title, it was a great story. I may be biased as I have a thing for Scotsmen, but this is a keeper! Both Ian & the story!! 😉
Nice setting.
This book introduced me to one of my new favorite series. Each of the McLaughlin stories are good as a stand-alone, but even better as a series.
Wonderful book, really enjoyed reading!!
Loved this book. Already recommended it to others. Shelli Stevens is now one of my favorite authors.
I just started reading her book. I like them good characters
I liked it so much, I bought the whole series!
I loved this book, however I hated there was no epilogue. I feel like it kind of just ended. Otherwise very good book.
It’s ok. Easy read.
