A Must Read!!!
“Oh. My. Dirty talk was also something she didn’t know she loved until Dylan.”
Those that follow my reviews know that I’m addicted to rockstars, I’ve read over 300 rocker romances. So seeing ‘band’ in the series title caught my attention and I decided to read my first Samantha Chase novel. Though it’s the 2nd book in the series, I read it as a standalone. I must also give my followers a heads-up that the ‘dirty talk’ mentioned above is of the PG variety rather than what I usually read which is more explicit. But that didn’t detract from my enjoyment of this engaging story which was very well written.
Dylan is fresh out of rehab and actually able to focus on what’s going on around him for the first time in a long time. Unfortunately, he doesn’t like what he sees. He’s disgusted with himself and ashamed of his behavior that hurt his family and bandmates. He’s determined to make some changes in his life, but he’s not sure where to start. When he’s invited to participate in a literacy program he decides it’s a good project to focus on as he gets to know his sober self. When he meets Paige for the first time, her reaction to him is no surprise. He’s used to his reputation preceding him. But it still disappoints him when she makes judgments before getting to know him.
Paige is on the lowest rung of the family business. The one that comes up with the brilliant ideas and then ends up being the errand girl instead of being head of the campaigns she dreams up. Doing the work behind the scenes as someone else takes the credit. But the literacy program is very near and dear to her heart and she’s determined to prove that she can handle it on her own. But as usual, things don’t go as she’d hoped and someone steals her thunder…again. She’d had it all planned out, spotlighting her favorite authors. Nowhere in her imagination was there a celebrity rock star involved. It’s not like they are known for reading, right? How did things get so messed up and how was she going to get herself out of it. She can’t deny that he’s gorgeous, but “Why? Why him? Why couldn’t one of her favorite authors have come in and talked with her like this? Why did it have to be a scruffy, tattoo-covered rock star who not only didn’t look the part of anything she was trying to do, but who potentially would also be a distraction for…well…her and probably any female in a ten mile radius?”
The decision to allow Dylan to participate in the program was taken out of her hands and she ended up being assigned as his reluctant handler (aka babysitter). Her father wanted the attention his celebrity status would bring, but didn’t want any bad press to cast a shadow on their company. So she was to keep an eye on him. And what an excellent job she did…watching him and fantasizing about him. “She wanted to climb him like a tree.”
What fun it was to see them fight their attraction to each other, knowing it was only a matter of time. The bad boy wanting the good girl, trying not to dirty her up, but unable to resist. He knows she deserves better, but he can’t seem to convince her of that. He’s only going to be around for 3 months until he completes his commitment to the program and he has no idea what comes next. She doesn’t really fit into his rock star world, but can he bring himself to leave her behind? Will he have a choice when the time comes? Grab your copy of One More Promise and find out.
Dylan and Paige are great characters that carry a lot of baggage. Their relationship blooms into something that neither of the suspect or expect until it sneaks up on them. Their story is one of heartache and truimph that is the very essence of their unwavering respect and support of each other.
The book also includes supporting characters of the Shaughnessy band where we catch up and what they have been up to since the last book.
Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! (one Wow for every star!)
I. loved. this. book.
This is the second book in the Band on the Run series, which was just “turned up” a notch for me.
What did I love? Paige, Dylan, the writing, the romance
Ms. Chase has done it again with a solid story, family drama, and solid characters that have sigh-worthy dialogue and sizzle in the romance department
Paige is a complex character… she’s the workhorse who, behind the scenes, keeps her family’s PR firm humming while her older sister and father take all the credit. She’s dedicated and beautiful in her own right, but doesn’t believe it.
Dylan is looking for a way to redeem himself and the events that Paige runs at the library offer a wholesome way to repair his image. As he works on his image, he realizes that Paige is an overlooked diamond and offers much more that image redemption.
As they each work on their challenges, they give into the romantic pull. Paige thinks it’s temporary as she can’t believe that someone like Dylan (a hot rockstar) could be interested in someone like her (a “normal” nobody).
The twists and turns involves Paige’s family, Dylan’s reputation, and a life changing event. Woven throughout this tight storyline are familiar characters and heartwarming romance.
While this is book #2 in a series, it is a standalone and the books can be read out of order. This book is on my re-read shelf and is one I go to when I need to renew my faith in romance and escape the challenges of normal life.
Download this book! You will be super happy you did.

A year ago I was reviewing my very first Samantha Chase book, book 1 in this series, One More Kiss. I fell in love with her writing then and continue to love her words today!
Okay, so Dylan has quite the sensational past. Every cliché of a rocker gone bad, Dylan resembles. But that was then and this is now. He knows who he was and accepts it but he also wants to do better. He wants to be better. Cue the literacy program run by Paige.
Paige and Dylan don’t get off to a smooth start. She makes rash judgments about him that really are not surprising. I mean he does have a reputation, so Dylan is prepared for all of it. He’s also not what she was looking for the literacy program. She wanted authors. But of course, the boss wants him so ….. let games begin 🙂 or should I say sparks 🙂
Without giving too many details away, I have to say that I very much enjoyed both Dylan’s and Paige’s growths in this book. Individually and as a romantic couple. They were a fantastic couple together and really good humans apart. Both of them have had their own versions of rocky paths to travel and it warmed my heart as much as it tore it up.
This was another high ranking **happy sigh** book that shouldn’t be missed by this author. It will make you feel good no matter what’s going on in your life 🙂
I really enjoyed this book and would absolutely recommend it! I found this story to be a mix of all things I enjoy reading.
One More Promise is Book 2 in the Band on the Run Series. Although it was book 2 in the series it could still be read as a stand-alone. I had not read book 1 before I read One More Promise and I didn’t feel like I missed anything. However, after reading book 2 I definitely want to read book one and any books after.
One More Promise follows Paige and Dylan’s story. Paige along with her sister Ariel work for their father’s PR firm in LA. Paige is always playing second fiddle to Ariel who can do no wrong in their father’s eyes. No matter how hard Paige works Ariel finds a way to swoop in and make it about her and be the face at the end of the campaigns. Dylan is the lead guitarist for a very popular band named Shaughnessy who is just out of rehab looking for redemption in the public’s eye. Dylan is asked by Paige’s sister Ariel (in yet another attempt to take over) to work on a Literacy campaign that Paige is currently working on. This campaign is very important to Paige and Dylan isn’t the type of person Paige had in mind for this campaign but in the end she is forced to go with it. Both Dylan and Paige help each other through personal issues as well as falling in love along the way. As with most stories there are obstacles in their way. What will happen in the end you will have to read yourself but you won’t be disappointed.
I would give this book 4.5 Wine Glasses/Stars!
One More Promise by Samantha Chase
What a very sweet and charming story!! It is very enjoyable!
I fully enjoyed Dylan! Dylan gets into some trouble. His community service is helping Paige at PRW with Literacy Now campaign. Paige is a very hard worker but there were several times I shook my head. She made quite frustrated. Paige gets pushed over by her Dad, her boss, and her sister who also works at PRW.
Dylan teaches us all a valuable lesson: if you set your mind to straightening your life out it is YOU who changes it! Everyone will pass judgment but don’t let them get to you. Keep changing YOU!
This series is very enjoyable! Highly recommend reading!
What a fabulous story and exactly what I expect from Samantha Chase! The development of both Paige and Dylan as individuals made them that much sweeter when they were together. Revisiting old characters makes the story a bit like coming home… and the new secondary characters were fun additions! A heartwarming take on the sometimes tough journey required to overcome life’s challenges. This book was certainly worth the wait!
3.5 stars
One More Promise is a perfect chance at redemption. One too many bad decisions for Dylan and not enough “No”s coming from Paige make both of them looking for more…
He’s looking to become more than his past.
She’s hoping to be seen as more.
Judgemental first impressions and getting off on the wrong foot, leave them at odds. But when you are in constant, close contact it’s hard to ignore all the…lust. Or feelings. It’s hard to ignore that you want more…
This sweet story will have you smiling and plotting to hang out with the band. Before you go all fan-girl, remember not all of them are single…
Fun read
3.5 stars
This one was hard for me to get in to, it took me longer to read then most do. I loved the idea behind it all, it just seemed slow moving. It didn’t hold my interest like normal. My interest was finally really grabbed at Chapter 9 and I couldn’t put it down after that. I DO recommend this book, especially if you have read the books up until now (Shaughnessy Series and One More Kiss).
Once again Samantha Chase gives a real life persona to a rock star. I loved
Dylan and how he battled back from his demons. As always love the interplay with the band and Rile
Shaughnessy ‘s appearance. Paige was a bit tiresome. I prefer a stronger character. She really let her sister walk all over her and it aggravated me after a while. Can’t wait to see what is in store for Julian.
enjoyed this book. can’t wait for the next.
Loved this book! Dylan and Paige are fantastic characters and they just seemed to bring out the best in each other. This is the second book in the Band on the Run series but it is easily read standalone. The writing is excellent and the story is fun and nicely paced.
While the band’s on hiatus Dylan is working hard to get himself together. Fresh out of rehab he’s looking for something to keep him busy as well as complete his required community service hours. That’s where Paige Walters comes in although she’s not happy about it. Her sister has turned Paige’s literacy campaign into a circus in Paige’s opinion but with no other choice she has to go along with it. She tries to make the best of it. Spending time with Dylan is no hardship but as their attraction grows she worries how she’ll ever say goodbye.
I highly recommend this one.
WOW!! I was blown away while reading One More Promise by Samantha Chase. Ms. Chase really knows how to create a loving story between two people who crave appreciation for what they accomplish; even a good job would have been nice. I think my favorite part of this book was Dylan realizing that there was so much more to Paige than her uptight, must get stuff done persona and when Paige realized that Dylan was no longer the party boy everyone thought he was but that there were so many more facets to him. These two understood each other and worked well together, her yin to his yang. I’m so glad these two were able to find love along the way, even if it meant standing up against Paige’s father and sister. The manner in which Ms. Chase created a group of friends supportive of each other, no matter how difficult things seem is also amazing.
Ms. Chase is a wonderful story teller, making me feel as if I was right there watching the action unfold as she drew me in, making me forget the world around me. I highly recommend this book to other readers and look forward to the next book in the Band on the Run series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Paige lives a life of rules, structure and safety. Dissatisfied with her job at her families PR firm, she struggles daily to be what they want her to be but can never measure up. When her sister steps into Paige’s latest project, despite screwing up some of the details, it actually ends up being the thing that will change Paige’s life. Instead of a literary genius, her sister has contracted a rock star to help push their new literacy campaign.
Dylan is a recovering alcoholic. Now that he’s got rehab behind him, he’s finding life has nothing to really offer him. His band is on hiatus and even if it weren’t, he’s not sure he’s ready to be thrown back into that life again. Nevertheless, he’s bored and looking for the something more that life might offer him. Due to a court mandate, he must serve community service and he soon finds himself in the company of Paige with her quirky way of dressing, her large framed glasses and her disregard for his star status.
I really enjoyed this story of Paige and Dylan. This was more of a character driven story rather than one led by drama or angst, and although there is just a tad, it isn’t the focal point of the book. I liked that this showed their relationship as true in that they both suffer from growing pains when learning to share their life with a significant other. Along the way, they each continue to seek out a way to make their professional lives more satisfactory even while blending it with their personal lives.
This is well written and never bogged down. The secondary characters were terrific, even Paige’s family that I wanted to smack a time or two. The chemistry was spot on even if there isn’t a lot of sexy times shared with the reader. I didn’t miss it because these characters were so real to me, I just had to know how things were going to work out for them.
This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by NetGalley and Sourcebooks.
WOW, just WOW!! One of my favorite genre of romance is “Rockstar” romance and One More Promise certainly fits that bill. BUT, IT IS SO MUCH MORE!!!
There is so much I can say I loved about this phenomenal book. The lead characters, Paige and Dylan, oh my, I love these two. Two lost souls, each with “familial” problems, each trying to solve the problems in their own way. Dylan became the “Bad Boy” long before he became the big “Rockstar” trying to get his parents attention. Unfortunately, he almost ruined himself trying to do it. Paige, she goes to the other extreme, she is practically making herself sick, bending herself backward, trying to impress her father. I could really go into a dislike even hate tangent regarding Paige’s family. I would really like to bi… slap Paige’s sister for the way she treats Paige. Sorry folks, I am not going to give ANYthing away. You NEED to read this wonderful book to see what I am talking about.
I REALLY loved the way that Paige went into meeting Mr. “Bad Boy, Rockstar” Dylan Anders with so, so many preconceptions. Then Paige met Dylan meet and talk get to know each other and, BAM, ALL those preconceptions were blown away. During these conversations, Dylan realizes that Paige’s familial situation IS worse than his was, and he and Paige bond even closer.
I absolutely LOVE Samantha Chase’s phenomenal writing skills. Ms. Chase has become one of my all time favorite authors over the last couple of years since discovering her. The way she develops the story line and the characters is phenomenal. I know when I pick up one of her books that she will take me into someone’s life and not let me out until I read the very last word. Her books are just that great!
I was gifted with a copy of this wonderful book for my reading pleasure and it most definitely did that, in spades and I just wanted to tell you why.
I helped you make the decision to purchase this wonderful book. Now, what are you waiting for, go hit that one-click button!!!
Thank you for reading my review.
One More Promise is book 2 in the Shaughnessy Brother: Band on the Run Book.
Dylan is the bad boy in the Band. He was wild and out of control. He ends up going to rehab after getting a DUI. After rehab he is really working the program and getting control of his life. He has a bad reputation he is trying to overcome.
Through his Community Service he connects with Paige Walters, who works for her family’s PR firm, to work on a literacy campaign.
I felt a little sorry for Dylan. He really had to work hard to get Paige to allow him to help out on her campaign. She has no interest in working with a rock band idol. Her father overrules her and now she’s pretty much babysitting Dylan.
I felt a whole lot of anger on Paige’s behalf. She works herself to the point of exhaustion just for her sister to step in and get credit. It opens over and over again. Her father really has a blind eye to her sisters antics and doesn’t give Paige any credit.
I love the banter between these two. I think because Paige isn’t impressed with an ‘idol’ that Dylan can be himself. On the other side Dylan can clearly see the disregard that Paige is dealt at the hands of her family.
Through each other they become better people who take charge of their lives.
I love that we got to visit with the other member’s of the band Shaughnessy.
Samantha has a great way of writing that sucks you into the story. The characters are well developed and that you can easily relate to.
I can’t wait for the next book!
This is one of those stories that I always say give you the warm and fuzzies! Form the moment I started this book I didn’t want to put it down, I was truly invested in Paige and Dylan. My heart was in my throat every time Paige had to deal with a member of her family. I think Paige was perfect for Dylan, she was never given a chance to succeed and he is now not given an chance to prove himself. For as much as they have lead very different lives, they both want to prove many people wrong. Now I have to go read book 1, and wait not very patiently for book 3. #MSBB
One More Promise, another a great story by Samantha Chase.
Dylan is the all around rock star bad boy until his life takes a turn for the worse and he checks into rehab. Once out he is determined to be the best person he can be. Paige pretty much runs the family PR firm and she worked so hard at cleaning up everyone else mess and getting no gratitude for it. Thankfully her sister makes changes to Paige’s literacy campaign the brings her and Dylan together. I like that Dylan turned his life around and Paige finally stood up for herself with her family. I will say that I thought her dad was a real jerk and I was kind of glad he got his in the end.
