That awkward moment when an ER doctor has to inform you that you’re pregnant…with his baby.Three things Lynsey Jones knows about the hot doctor: he’s grouchy, an arrogant jerk, and strangely obsessed with pie.Three things Dr. Dick knows: he doesn’t talk about his past, he doesn’t do relationships, and the crazy girl in the hospital cafeteria who ate a fistful of French silk pie…is annoyingly … pie…is annoyingly irresistible.
After a chance meetup at a bar and a heated cab ride together, things come to a head and now instead of hating each other, they’re horizontal in a bed.
Three months later, the weird cafeteria stalker who crept out of Dr. Dick’s house like a thief in the night, winds up as his patient in the ER after her Tinder date from hell.
Dr. Dick is prepared to keep it cool and professional. That is until her bloodwork reveals that she’s pregnant.
What really throws him for a loop…is that the surprise baby…is his.

OMG!!! I loved it so much!! This story is HILARIOUS, sexy, and beautiful! The whole thing is absolutely delightful! Josh and Lyndsey are wonderful together! I love their banter, and their strong chemistry. I like these stories with intertwined characters. I love to see my favorite characters again and again. Amy Daws is the Queen of the Rom-Com, and she NEVER disappoints! I HIGHLY recommend you to read this story! Just grab it and read it! If you like Rom-Com, or if you need some laughter right now (who don’t??), you won’t regret it! Looking forward to listen to the audiobook version of this story. Now, I feel the need to listen to Wait With Me and Next in Line again!
Not my first read by the author, I just adore and love Amy…from her IG story posts to her books, always fun. This one, little different but in the best way. I fell in love from the first pages. Always something about a enemy-to when done right that get’s em going!
Little bitter sweet about this book, I started writing this review when i was about half way through the book. The beginning really captivated me, and i loved the banter and jumping right into enemy-to. A good laugh always with Amy’s books. This one actually had me going for it to be a little more serious, i wont lie there were moments of ‘Lynsey being immature’ but it wasn’t enough to make me stop reading. I do have to get this off my chest, i kind of was OKAY with Dean the male friend but by mid way, I really did not like him…reason: he is one way with the heroine and another with the hero, I just couldn’t enjoy him. Alright aside from that, the hero is PARTICULAR (dry humor – and btw this is in a good way, sexy broody and dry humor worked for him!). A doctor, early 30s , smart, sexy and knows his way with words. A particular humor that seems to clash with Lynsey but yet bond them together. I will also say that I was kind of missing something; maybe more of Lynsey wanting to understand why he is the way he is. They banter a lot but I was looking for that connection a little more. I’ll be back with more once I’ve finished the other half of this.
2nd 50% of the book I was hoping i didn’t have to jump into these words and explanation, but i want anyone that reads my review to understand why. Linsey to me tittered on the line of being an adult and being an adult but immature. There were instances where i found her funny and it was appropriate but then scenarios where it was really immature of what she had said or done and it slightly turned me off more each time. Now granted it was maybe meant to be more light and fun but i was expecting a little something else, so that’s on me and my feelings on the heroine’s tone. Confirmation on not liking Dean one bit – CONFIRMED.. twice. don’t like him anymore, his time and actions, it’s not funny anymore and just No Dean please! *cringe* I want to address the flow and transitions because at times i was hot and cold, for example: one chapter ending in something rather serious between hero and heroine, then beginning of next chapter they are together just like normal (another scenario), i guess I’m just trying to say that i got emotional in the ending and the next start we are back to just normal, so you can see why that’s got me got and cold.
All in all if you’re still here after me writing a whole novella about this review, I want to say that I do love Amy’s books, they really are fun and light…the issues I had with it as always are my opinion and feelings towards reading this sweet story. I would still very much recommend this book and series, what I did love was the hero and heroine together throughout all this, aside form everything they really seemed to be two pees in a pot, polar opposite on the outlook of life but meshed really well together. The epilogue, okay that had me almost balling my eyes out it was sweet!

One Moment Please is a book that will touch you deeply and resonate with you long after you’ve finished. It will have you laughing, crying, and holding your breath page after page.
Readers are introduced to Lynsey Jones, child psychologist, and Dr. Josh Richardson, an ER doctor, also known as “Dr. Dick”, whose natural comedic and witty banter will have you hooked. They meet while Lynsey starts to frequent the hospital cafeteria and turns Josh’s world upside down.
This book is everything I hoped and true to Amy Daws writing styles. It’s a comedic, drama filled, and romantic all wrapped into one heartfelt novel.
I loved this book so much!! It gave me so many feels!! I have been waiting for Dr. Dick and Lynsey’s story for so long! Amy did not disappoint! This one is my favorite in the series so far! I would definitely recommend this book!
Received an arc for an honest review
OH MY GOSH.
I was looking forward to reading this… expecting a romcom as I have loved the previous 2 books in this series.
But, it was so much more than I expected. It was funny and yet emotional.
Josh is such an interesting hero character. He was written so brilliantly, so that you could see the evolution of him throughout the story. I could almost feel his emotions and intensity.
Lynsey is the perfect gal for him. She is spunky, driven and the kind of girl I want to be friends with.
I’m not ashamed to say that I shed some tears along with my laughs in this story.
This will be high up on my favorite reads list.
**ARC REVIEW**
Amy Daws can write a RomCom like no other. I laughed from beginning to end and also cried a little along the way. One Moment Please was everything I needed during this quarantine lifestyle. Funny, witty, with the best one-liners and all of the feels. I already want to read it again.
Amy, you tickle my soul with laughter; never stop writing!
5 ‘french silk pie’ stars!
One Moment Please Amy Daws
Lynsey has been going to the cafeteria for months to write her psych thesis because that is where her writing seems to flow the best. Josh the angry ER doc seems to take issue with it and on the day that she finishes her thesis he plops down in a seat at her table making her feel awkward and uncomfortable. He is really rude to her for what seems like no reason and he tells her that coming to the cafeteria every day is weird and should probably call security. She storms off and laying into only to run into him later that night at a bar when she is out celebrating with her friend. She gets a little too drunk and ends up sharing an Uber with Josh and then they end up spending the night together. Three months later she in the ER, Josh is her doc of course and when they run the standard blood tests it comes back that she is knocked up.
I don’t want to say it was bad, that maybe it was just a case of it’s me not you but I just couldn’t connect with this book. Everything just felt so forced and contrived. It was all so awkward for me. I didn’t get the feels from the characters. And then Dean, how he was Lynsey’s ex but in a previous book professed his undying love for Lynsey’s best friend, but then in this book kept going on and on about how he loved Lynsey. Lynsey called him out on and saying it wasn’t real but it just felt a little awkward to me, creepy and a bit like a overused character. I hate not liking a book but this one just didn’t do it for me.
This woman is one of my top favorite authors!!! I one click her as fast as I can and each chance I get to read a book by her I feel honored! I was completely floored by this book! This has to be my favorite book I’ve read in a really long time!!! I am almost 7 months pregnant so my emotional crying was at an all time high but it was worth it!
Each one of Amy’s characters always grabs my heart but something about Lynsey grabbed my heart and soul for all she was throughout this book!! Lynsey had the spunk and sass while still having this amazing head on her shoulders! She made me laugh, cry, get angry and even think about ways to get even with men. Her friendship with Dean was not what I expected and the jealously you felt pour off Josh was awesome to watch!
As much as I love the women of Amy’s books, I usually equally hate the men or tolerate them. Josh was no different especially with his freaking wall…. You will feel so much up and down with his man you will want to junk punch him with Kate. The hopes and dreams you have for this couple quickly get squashed and I know I couldn’t help but just cry the last several chapters!
I love Amy’s writing and how I so easily connect with her characters! Seeing things happen with Lynsey and not being able to stop all my feelings from spilling all over my shirt made this book one of my absolute top books EVER! It could be my hormones talking but reading this book and being pulled out of a book funk just made dealing with Dr. Dick worth it! So much drama and romance and unexpected things happening PLUS a hot doctor made for a truly epic and emotional read! Best read of 2020 and in my top 5 read EVER!
This book was so good I read it in 1 day!!!!
The banter, humor, and hotness of Dr. Dick and Lynsey was amazing! No one writes rom coms like Amy Daws does and reading her books is always a joy and they make me so happy. I found myself laughing out loud multiple times and fanning myself even more!
I will read anything this woman writes! Do yourself a favor and pick up any of Amy Daws’ books!
What a ride!! Lots of pie, lots of charcuterie, steamy times, banter… I definitely fell in love w/ Lynsey & Josh’s story. It’s full of heart & humor, but there were also some tissues needed, at least by me. Josh’s nick name is well earned, but the reason behind his attitude just about broke my heart. His journey to healing is worked in brilliantly, I have to say. It’s deep but doesn’t lose this author’s signature humor along the way. : )
I haven’t laughed and cried so much with one book in so long! I honestly needed this story and I’m over the moon to have finally read it!
The love, the passion and my gosh the healing that takes places is beyond anything I could’ve ever imagined! Getting to see my old fave characters and meeting new ones just added so much to this already amazing book!
Josh and Lyndseys story has so many amazing layers to it that you have to read this story! Lyndsey has always been this bubbly ray of light! I love that even when faces with turmoil she holds to her goals and doesn’t give up! She is determined and it’s that strength that keeps pulling Josh towards her! Josh, though a jerk at times, shows us that there is more to the man than gorgeous looks! He’s a man who loves fiercely! He isn’t good at wearing his emotions and he definitely bottles it all inside, but Lyndsey’s light definitely perks up his dark soul and soon Josh finds himself doing all he can to be the man he needs to be! He just needs to learn to forgive, let go and feel love
I love the Wait with Me series. Amy Daws is an excellent storyteller. That being said, surprise pregnancy stories are not my favorite, so I did not expect to like this book as much as the previous two. I should have known better. This book not just a Surprise Pregnancy story. It’s also an Enemies to Lovers-Roommates-Grumpy Doctor Hero-Waiting Room Meet Cute-Standalone RomCom. It’s funny, and emotional, and heart-warming, and did I mention funny?
The author who holds the gold standard of being able to make me laugh out loud one page and cry the next is Kristan Higgins. But Amy Daws is just as good at it! The hero of this story, Josh (aka Dr. Dick!) is SUCH a jerk at the beginning of the book, but we learn that he has a situation in his past that caused him to basically put up a wall between him and the world, not letting anyone get close, not believing he is capable of giving love, or worthy of receiving it. It would have been easy for the author to make him into a two dimensional character and have a sudden realization that he COULD love and be loved. But she goes much deeper than that, and the way it is resolved is so beautiful and touching and heart-warming. Amy Daws is really becoming one of my favorite authors.
The sign of a good book in a series that you enjoy is when you want to go back and read the entire series over again when you’re done with each new release. This book definitely made me want to do that. I liked Wait with Me, but I LOVED Next in Line (which was my first Amy Daws book, btw.) I definitely want to go back and read all three in a row now. And you should too!
What a funny, heartwarming, lighthearted enemies-to-lovers/surprise accidental pregnancy story! I’ve enjoyed the other books in this series and this was no different. It has that usual Amy Daws humor (and charcuterie references) we’ve come to know and love. I love a grumpy dude and Josh is the grumpiest.
My attention span has been non-existant recently and I managed to read this all in one sitting- it’s just the lighthearted distraction I’ve been craving. 4.5/5 stars!
From the start of this book to the end of it, I absolutely adored every single word of it. The concept. The tragic background of Josh to Lynsey navigating what to do after everything implodes. It is a stunning story of heartbreak and finding love in a very unconventional way. I have adored this series from the start, so getting to see the past characters involved was amazing. My heart broke and my heart soared with this story from Daws. Her flow and character build is amazing and so hard to forget.
Overall, this was an epic story. Honestly, it is hard to write the review without screaming from the rooftops about everything that happened. Between the passion, the banter, the sizzling moments, this book had absolutely everything needed and I could not put it down. If you haven’t read a book by Daws, get cracking because her words are pure magic!
One Moment Please went straight to the heart.
I knew that rom-com was it for me but reading it only strengthens my love for this story.
It had it all, a bit angsty, an incredible banter and smoking hot chemistry, hilarious and emotional.
Two characters who were more enemies than acquaintances but with such sexual tension?
Oh my…
Lynsey Jones used to find inspiration for her thesis in the hospital cafeteria until the moment she met the most infuriating and arrogant man, Dr Josh Richardson, all bets were off. This encounter between these two was so entertaining to read.
One bickering leading to another and bam! Surprise pregnancy!
I’ve been charmed from the beginning, expecting every interaction. I adored how they collided, but mostly how they revealed so much of themselves throughout the book.
I laughed so many times but mostly swooned tons. What I appreciated the most? When the characters showed their vulnerability to the other and damn if my heart didn’t crack a little in these moments.
I enjoyed it from the beginning until the end, rooting for Dr Richardson to find his way back and so glad that this feisty and a little crazy woman crossed his path.
Absolutely fantastic!! I have so much love for this story, so much!
This book couldn’t have come at a better time for me as I really needed a good laugh. This is Lynsey and Josh’s aka Dr Dick’s story and let me tell you his nickname sets the tone for the story and appealed to my juvenile heart.
You have a mind blowing night with a man who just infuriates you by opening his mouth then said man has super swimmers and boom unexpected nine month consequences happen. I loved all the witty banter and how Georgina gives as good as she gets. Josh struggles to deal with his growing attraction and feelings for his baby mama. The story is a romcom but it was surprisingly emotional, Josh was holding so much pain inside. Georgina was the perfect partner for him she brings out the fun side of him.
This is an ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.
One Moment Please by Amy Daws is laugh out loud funny and so super sweet. I took my sweet time reading this one because I wanted to savor every last moment. Amy Daws knows how to write awkward and make it believable.
Lynsey and Josh don’t make sense on paper until they start to bicker. Once they begin their banter their chemistry is explosive. I was very concerned how the surprise pregnancy aspect would happen. Based on the blurb I was skeptical. Being a nurse, I always get concerned when a character or plot point is medical in nature. However, Amy Daws does not make those aspects so far-fetched that I’m saying to myself “no way!” I was WRONG!! I enjoyed every aspect of this book.
This book is a standalone that has cross over characters from previous books. I hadn’t read those books and was not missing important pieces.
Amy Daws if you keep giving me these great books I will keep reading them.
Yes! Love when a new Amy Daws book comes out! I’m guaranteed to laugh out loud and get in all my feels…win, win!
Lynsey and Josh, otherwise known as Dr. D*ck have chemistry, hilarious banter and hardcore spicy times! Opposites for sure attract in this one. I love how their differences only bring out the best in each other.
I went through ALL the feels with this one. Definitely recommend, it’s another from this fab author! I adored their HEA!
I really enjoyed Wait With Me and Next In Line, so even though surprise pregnancy is really not my favorite trope I was excited to read this new release in the same world. I can always count on Amy Daws to bring zany, over-the-top humor and laugh out loud moments with definite heat, and this book was no exception. It was fun to see familiar characters but this book can definitely standalone if you haven’t read the prior books.
Lynsey finds the hospital cafeteria to be the best place to work on her thesis. The day she finishes, she has a confrontation with the hot doctor who is always staring her down. Later that evening, they run into each other thanks to some friend connections and end up having excellent drunk sex. They use an apparently expired condom and after not speaking for a while, they both discover she is pregnant when she becomes his patient at the ER. Josh is secretive about his history that made him averse to children and working with children. Lynsey is forced to move out of her home since she has no job. Josh convinces her to move in with him, ostensibly to better watch over and protect klutzy mom and baby. They fall for each other but have major emotional hurdles to figure out before they can decide whether to share their futures as a pair.
This is another grumpy-one-is-soft-for-the-sunshiney-one, so Lynsey is great at pulling out other sides of him and recognizing his vulnerability and humor. When his walls were up, though, I found Josh’s character a bit inconsistent, he was too grumpy and flat after we see more of his depth.
Lynsey is really passionate about her work dreams and secure in what she deserves. I loved that her friendships stayed relevant, Kate and Dean’s observations helped Lynsey and Josh each find their feelings.
Josh’s history with kids was heart wrenching, but well written. The resolution was poignant and happy.
As someone who is very wary of surprise pregnancy, I found that I enjoyed this story. It was upfront enough and the baby and Lynsey helped Josh along his emotional journey. I felt that Lynsey’s journey didn’t match Josh’s, she had it seemingly easy after a certain point. Objectively, I’m sure this isn’t true, but since her hurt and pain didn’t have the same recognition by Josh I didn’t get to feel it as strongly. If you may be triggered by mentions of the death of a child, this is not the book for you, but otherwise, the laughs and heart are solid.
Amy Daws is a master of romcom, and sneakily hands you an emotional read.
Lynsey and Josh hate each other. Absolutely hate. But that fine line between hate and lust, makes the romance that much hotter. There was so much emotion in this book! Josh was beyond swoony, total book boyfriend material. Overall, this book just made me smile (even when I was getting teary eyed). Amy Daws easily is one of my top one click authors. Her characters are real, and completely relate able, you fall in love with each one of them.
Also – I now need some french silk pie ASAP.
