That awkward moment when an ER doctor has to inform you that you’re pregnant…with his baby.Three things Lynsey Jones knows about the hot doctor: he’s grouchy, an arrogant jerk, and strangely obsessed with pie.Three things Dr. Dick knows: he doesn’t talk about his past, he doesn’t do relationships, and the crazy girl in the hospital cafeteria who ate a fistful of French silk pie…is annoyingly … pie…is annoyingly irresistible.
After a chance meetup at a bar and a heated cab ride together, things come to a head and now instead of hating each other, they’re horizontal in a bed.
Three months later, the weird cafeteria stalker who crept out of Dr. Dick’s house like a thief in the night, winds up as his patient in the ER after her Tinder date from hell.
Dr. Dick is prepared to keep it cool and professional. That is until her bloodwork reveals that she’s pregnant.
What really throws him for a loop…is that the surprise baby…is his.

One Moment Please is book 3 in the Wait With Me series and can be read as a stand-alone. Amy Daws is one of my favorite authors, I adore The Harris Brothers but Wait With Me is up there with them so I was excited to see some familiar characters.
I wanted to really like Josh but his self pity just got in the way and took away from the story for me. When he was in the moment, it was great. I hated that every time he has what I thought was a break through, he went back to his old ways.
Lynsey didn’t disappoint with her free spirit and easy going attitude. I enjoyed her in Wait With Me and was glad she got her story out. She took everything in stride and even pushed more than I would have with Josh.
I enjoy a good one night stand uh oh baby story and even though I didn’t connected with the characters as well as I would have liked, I did over all enjoy reading.
Review by Raychel
This is a meet angry! And hella cute. Lynsey found her thesis writing groove in a hospital cafeteria. When Dr. Dick, I mean Josh, confronts her about why she is there day after day, sparks (and French Silk pie) fly!
Memories of a past failure haunt Josh and it takes Lynsey’s passion for life and finding courage from fear to show him how to love again.
The angst felt by both main characters is palpable and I shed a few tears along with them as well as laughing out loud over several scenes.
I highly recommend this book along with the two that precede it in this series. But I really want Dean’s story!
Oh my goodness, Amy Daws does it yet again!!!! One Moment Please is my favorite romantic comedy of the year!!!! It is laugh-out-loud at times, but yet Amy Daws pulls at your heartstrings too!!!!
Lynsey Jones has just finished her thesis, in of all places a hospital cafeteria where they serve killer French Silk Pie. On this particular day, the grumpy doctor, Dr. Josh Richardson, she has noticed glaring at her every time he sees her finally comes over. Nothing good comes from it!!!! However, a completely unexpected meeting later at a bar results in an unforgettable night in more ways than one. Weeks later, she realizes how unforgettable when he informs her that she is pregnant….and it’s his baby!!!
I was literally up almost all night following Lynsey and Josh’s bumpy and oftentimes, funny, road to happiness. Never have two people been so opposite of one another. She is quirky and funny, but so loving and patient with him. He is grumpy, distant, and sometimes, cold. Yet, he is incredibly protective of her and the “Peanut.” It isn’t like he wants to be this way. He yearns to be like Lynsey and live in color and light, instead of the darkness that envelops him. She longs to see him really smile, but she isn’t sure what to do to help him let go of the past. She sees tiny glimpses of the man he once was, but they always disappear almost as soon as she sees them.
Despite the heat and steam in the bedroom, she wants all of him, but will he ever let her in? This my fellow readers is where all the emotions come roaring in. Daws had my heart in her hands…Josh broke my heart at times. She let me see his vulnerable and heart-broken side in the chapters that were told from his POV. I just fell harder for him. I mean his grumpy side could be cute, but this look into his soul, just pulled me in further!
The story was told with Daws’s trademark humor and quirkiness, but she also packed an emotional punch. It’s what makes her writing so special and keeps me coming back for more. My only regret was having to tell the characters that I have come to love good-bye. Hopefully, it won’t be too long when I can return to their world with Dean’s story….fingers crossed!!!
An encounter in a hospital cafeteria, then later at a bar leads to a one-night stand between an ER doctor and a young lady finishing her thesis. Meeting three months later in the ER, they find out she’s pregnant.. Whoops! Funny and heartbreaking at the same time.
4.5 stars!
Amy Daws is one of my favorite authors so I’m grateful to have received an arc copy of One Moment Please. If you are a true Daws fan, you’ll know that she always gives you the steamiest and funniest, yet emotional stories wrapped in one and she didn’t disappoint with this book!
This book is about a doctor, Josh who has gone through a traumatic working experience as a pediatric doctor who then moves on to become an ER doctor. Josh is very grumpy, dry humored, and emotionless until he meets Lyndsey. Lyndsey is a bad ass who is just trying to finish grad school, pay her bills, and eventually open up a clinic after she graduates. She meets Josh in the worst way possible and they end up in this crazy dynamic where they are forced to be together but not really be together if you know what I mean.
Over the course of the book, I became more fond of Josh and his grumpy ways but that’s because Lyndsey made Josh work for it and she made him realize how precious she was to him.
There is plenty of romance, swoon worthy moments and heartbreaking moments throughout the book making this another awesome book by my favorite author! 🙂
What a heartbreaking, good love story. How do you break thru to a heart surrounded by a brick wall? By chipping away 1 brick at a time. Just when you think you’re making progress, The next wall is even higher and stronger. Is it really worth the effort and do you truly keep wasting your time? Read this emotionally, amazing story to find out!
This is one of the best accidental pregnancy stories I’ve read.
Lynsey is needing a night out after a run in with Dr. Dick earlier in the day. Her friend Dean has no problems being her wingman until a business situation presents itself. Lynsey is stuck dealing with Dr. Dick.
The situation these two find themselves in is not ideal but they qay they find out together and the heat that continues in this story is great! I finished the book and immediately clicked the first book to read Kate and Miles story…yeah I’m late to the game. Great read!

I am in love with this book and Dr. Dick! From the beginning I was hooked on One Moment Please. I could not put this book down, I instantly fell in love with Josh and Lynsey. Their dynamic and their chemistry is off the charts! I love how right from the start you are drawn into their story and waiting to see what will happen at every turn. Any Daws does not disappoint with this book, and will have you glued to your seat.
Lynsey didn’t know that the Doctor who she met in the hospital cafeteria would end up being her one night stand. But when she ends up at the ER a few weeks later, she finds out that their one night stand will change both of their lives.
Josh can’t believe the spitfire who completely threw his night around is pregnant with his child. He knows one thing though, he will do what he can to keep them both safe, but he can’t get emotionally attached.
As these two try to navigate having a child together, they can’t deny the chemistry between them. But will they be able to fully trust one another and acknowledge how they truly feel? Or will Josh’s past be too much to overcome?
Hot Doctor….
One Night Stand….
Surprise Baby….
Incredible Sex….
This book has just about everything you could want in a Rom-Com. The characters are each unique and realistic. I loved Lynsey, her devotion to the unplanned baby, her drive for her career, her love of her nieces. She is just an all around amazing woman. Josh…a.k.a. Dr.Dick, comes off as a dick in the beginning, not because he really is one, but because like most people he has been through some heavy emotional s**t and tries to protect himself from any more hurt. I loved seeing him open up to love again. This is just a great feel good, romantic comedy.
This is the first book of this series that I have read but not the first of Amy Daws’s books and it wilnot be the last.
This book had major chemistry between Josh and Lynsey. Even with the amount of chemistry there were some many laughable moments.
Lynsey is finishing her masters degree and there is only one place that she can focus and unfortunately it has Dr. D*** and his nasty looks. However, what happens when they have a run in outside of the hospital?
Josh is an ER doctor who has a past that still haunts him. Even with his past he is still a hot alpha male that knows what he wants and unfortunately it is not kids. He is hardened because of his past but still has a soft side that pops up every so often. How will he handle a one night stand turned tuned into more? Will he be able to get over his past to have a future?
Will Lynsey be able to get past Josh’s hard exterior to find the softy on the inside?
I can’t wait to read more of Amy Daws’s books.
Okay, so my review was delayed by a migraine and … life, but here it is!
“I’ve learned that it’s okay to let yourself feel happy, man. I want that for you too. More than you could ever know.”
So, there was a lot in this book that I loved. First off, Josh. While he is a bit of a … jerk, there’s a lot going on with him. I wasn’t sure about him at the beginning of the story because even with all his issues, he seemed a bit over the top on the mean side. Of course, as the story progressed, I felt like I got to know him a bit more and came to appreciate his quirks.
Lynsey, I liked from the start. She has the best friends, she stands up for herself, and her heart is so big! I love her profession and the way she wants to change the lives of children. I love how giving she is and how she tries to bring Josh into the light.
This book is my favorite of the series. I’ve loved each book in the series for different reasons, but this one hit me a bit harder than the others. It seemed to really fill my heart in a different way. I love this world and all the characters in it, and I cannot WAIT to see what happens to Dean!!
One Moment Please be Amy Daws is an amazing heart-warming, funny and emotional story. It is a real treat for surprise pregnancy lovers. It has everything I adore: lovable and very mature heroes, fast-paced plot, supportive friends, scorching hot action and heart-breaking moments.
„Your love has healed my heart in ways I never thought possible.”
I felt as if I was standing next to heroes and watching how they dealt with their new situation, how Josh and Lynsey’s love/hate relationship started changing and blossoming into something more. But sometimes your past has a great hold of your present and you simply cannot open your heart to someone else, afraid of being hurt, again. Will Josh and Lynsey fragile relationship last?
I loved every second of Josh and Lynsey’s story, from their first very heated encounter, the uncontrolled chemistry, surprise news, how they prepared to be parents and its consequences. I love Lynsey. She is smart, sassy and knows what she wants. She wasn’t a coward and I loved how she tried to get into Josh’s shielded heart. I admire her honesty, caring personality and sense of humor. Josh is a very complicated man. You just have to know him better to develop a crush on him. I laughed and cried because of him. Josh deserves your attention and love. He is a very protective man with a big heart and jealous streak.
I really recommend One Moment Please and I am sure I will come back to previous stories!
This book will have you laughing out loud in one chapter and tearing up in the next. There is so much in this book. It’s an enemy-to-lovers, accidental pregnancy, close proximity, rom com. See…I told you there’s a lot in this book. Oh…add in a meet-cute..well, sorta. There are so many layers to both of these characters. It was a joy to learn about both of them.
This is the third book in the series, but it can be read as a complete standalone. Each book in the series is about a different couple each with their own HEA. If you like any of these tropes then definitely check out this book.
One Moment Please is the first book I have read by Amy and I loved it! The chemistry between the characters could be felt. I loved the story line. I can’t wait to read more of Amy’s books.
If I had to think of two words that would best describe Amy Daws’s brand of romantic comedy, they would have to be addictive and heartening. Her romance element is that blend of sweet, sexy, and sincere, and the comedic aspect of her story is neither high-brow nor is it the opposite; rather, it’s this finely tuned and well-balanced bit of genius that wholly Daws. And an absolute bonus is the fact that Daws is so darn consistent in terms of those, but employs a different trope each time alongside original characters and stories. Case in point? Her Wait with Me series. The first book in this series was a hit, what with its original meet-cute between the main characters set in a tire store, and becoming a favorite among many romance readers. The second book was popular as well, this time, having the falling-for-my-sibling’s-best-friend trope as the characters cross paths in a bait shop. This third and latest one certainly had my curiosity because here, the main characters meet in a hospital cafeteria, do not have the most heartwarming of beginnings, and there’s a surprise pregnancy to boot. Oh, and have I mentioned the sprinkling of angst?!
In these trying times we find ourselves in nowadays, I know that there are a lot of unknowns, and there are quite a few out there who are struggling to, at the very least, get through a book—any book! Well, one of the things that I know to be true is that I have yet to go wrong reading anything penned by Amy Daws, and since the more somber tone of the news we’ve been getting for the past couple or so months can feel stifling, this rom-com was exactly what the doctor—pun intended!—ordered. I’ll be honest, it took a bit for me to warm up to Josh because the guy seriously had the most dickish of behaviors, especially when it came to Lynsey. When we get his back story, we gain a better understanding of why he is the way he is, and my heart ached for him and what he went through. Lynsey, on the other hand, was fantastic, and she had such a strong support system around her, thanks to her best friends, Kate and Dean (the former’s story can be read in Wait with Me, and I’m desperately hoping the latter gets his own happily-ever-after next!), as well as Kate’s boyfriend, Miles, and her own older sister, Christine. One Moment Please made me laugh a lot, and by the end, left me with a satisfied smile on my face. Five stars.
Can I give this book 8 stars…. if it were possible I surely would!!!!
What a delicious book, it made me forget about everything going on in my life right now. It was romantic but also sad en heartwrecking, it made my heart work overtime. Josh, Dr. Dick and Linsey…. what a match made in heaven, even if they don’t realise it themselves, especially Josh needs extra time to believe this, to believe in love again, not to be afraid of loving again. I completely felt this book down to my core.
This was my first Amy Daws book and I definetely will be reading more of it!!!!
Great worldbuilding en meeting the characters and learning most of them, what makes them tick, a lot of romance and heat between Josh and Linsey….. yeah definetely a lot of hot steaming sex….
So we have met Lynsay before from the first book (Wait with me) which was Kate and Miles book, which I loved so please read. Anywho Lynsay was also having trouble writing her thesis and found that the hospital cafeteria was where she felt more comfortable and the words just flowed, however everytime she went she saw this hot Dr. As she is finally finishing hot Dr sits with her and he was a d—, so he got his name for Dr. Dick (lets see if amazon allows.) anywho, after their bickering then end up seeing each other out in bar both with friends and one thing leads to another and bam-great night and a situation arises.. Josh had a sad back story which was the reason why he was how he was. Dean, whom we also met in the first story was there for Lynsay and also acting as obnoxious as possible to Josh, kind of like how he was with Miles..Now my friends we wait for Dean whom I cant wait for..Enjoy!
rcvd an ARC at no cost to author…voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.
“laugh out loud, 5 stars”
Daws has a way of making any reader laugh out loud and One Moment Please definitely fits the bill. It’s one thing to get pregnant by a one night stand your not even fond of but to also have him be the one to tell you your expecting, who wouldn’t laugh? Add in a over excited romance author best friend and a jealous baby daddy and your bound for a good time.
Lyndsey and Dr. Dick had undeniable chemistry. He was grumpy and had secrets. Lyndsey is a hot mess who is just trying to get it all together before her baby comes. Daws pulled me into this funny world and when real life is crazy right now a funny make-believe world is exactly what we all need. If you take a chance on One Moment Please, I hope you laugh as much as I did.

This is my first book by Amy Daws and I have NO idea why I haven’t read her prior to this! This book is INCREDIBLE. One Moment Please is an emotional rollercoaster full of fun, witty banter and hilarious moments tied in with some heartbreaking moments as well.
Lynsey and Josh are two polar opposites with a love/hate relationship. While Lynsey is trying to secure her future, Josh is running from his past. While their chemistry is off the charts HOT, an unplanned pregnancy throws a wrench into both of their future plans.
This book had me laughing hysterically one moment and crying the next. I was truly captivated by Lynsey and Josh’s story and read it from beginning to end in one afternoon.
Amy Daws has continued her streak of writing funny and entertaining books. This series, which includes Wait with Me and Next in Line, have been such enjoyable reads. This time it is Lynsey and Josh, aka Dr. Dick, story.
When Lynsey and Josh meet they do not get along, but later end up having one night together. Things get awkward when she ends up in the ER and finds out she’s pregnant with his baby as he’s treating her.
As the story progressed more was revealed about what made Josh into Dr. Dick. He is very different from Lynsey but she is just what he needs. I really loved watching these two get to know each other and adjust to life as future parents as they grew closer too.
Thank you to the author for providing a ARC for an honest review.
