That awkward moment when an ER doctor has to inform you that you’re pregnant…with his baby.Three things Lynsey Jones knows about the hot doctor: he’s grouchy, an arrogant jerk, and strangely obsessed with pie.Three things Dr. Dick knows: he doesn’t talk about his past, he doesn’t do relationships, and the crazy girl in the hospital cafeteria who ate a fistful of French silk pie…is annoyingly … pie…is annoyingly irresistible.
After a chance meetup at a bar and a heated cab ride together, things come to a head and now instead of hating each other, they’re horizontal in a bed.
Three months later, the weird cafeteria stalker who crept out of Dr. Dick’s house like a thief in the night, winds up as his patient in the ER after her Tinder date from hell.
Dr. Dick is prepared to keep it cool and professional. That is until her bloodwork reveals that she’s pregnant.
What really throws him for a loop…is that the surprise baby…is his.

I loved the fact that this book started off with so much laugh out loud humor and that there was a ton of it sprinkled throughout the book. Oh Lord, did Lynsey have some awkward moments! One of my favorite lines of hers was, You taste one ass, you’ve tasted them all! From their first meeting in the hospital cafeteria, Josh, aka Dr. Dick, has excelled at pushing Lynsey’s buttons. What starts out as an enemies to lovers story , develops into a really touching story about letting go of your past and healing your heart to let love in. Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon were fabulous! Thanks for such a sweet romance, Amy Daws! I highly recommend.
I loved Dr. Dick and Lynsey’s story! Steamy, funny, and also tragic. I loved the way Lynsey handled herself. And, gah–so many laugh out loud moments.
A fantastic enemies to lovers/ surprise baby romance that will have you feeling all the feels!! It’s funny. It’s sexy. Its sweet. With fun witty banter that will have you giggling… this was the light fun read I needed!
Right after I read the last page of One Moment Please, I kicked myself for not picking up and reading a book by Amy Daws sooner. One Moment Please is my first ever Amy Daws read ever and I was highly impressed! I laughed, I swooned, and I smiled throughout–I thought it had the perfect blend of humor, romance, and heart. Actually, even before finishing One Moment Please, I already bought the other two books in the series–technically One Moment Please is the third book, but it’s a complete standalone.
One Moment Please is about Lynsey Jones, who, for the last several months, had been working on her thesis in the hospital cafeteria (the only place where the words seem to flow for her) and Dr. Josh Richardson, an ER doctor at the hospital. Dr. Richardson isn’t happy with this random girl who doesn’t seem to be visiting or know anyone at the hospital but had commandeered a corner of the cafeteria and often buys last slice of the silk pie. Their first meeting ended with Lynsey throwing a fistful of pie at the grouchy, jerk of a doctor earning him the nickname Dr. Dick. But, they meet again later that night when they ended up in the same bar and they ended up having a one night stand. Fast forward three months later, and Lynsey ended up in Josh’s ER and her bloodwork revealed that she’s pregnant… with his baby! And the story takes off from there.
I read One Moment Please entirely via audiobook and it was fantastic! It’s narrated by two of my favorite narrators–Teddy Hamilton for Josh and Erin Mallon for Lynsey–and they were perfect for their character. I always measure audiobooks by whether the narrators’ performance elevates the author’s writing and that’s certainly the case here. Teddy’s delivery of the arrogant doctor was spot on and there’s a lot of humor in this book (especially in Lynsey/Erin”s chapters) and the narrators knocked it out of the park. I highly recommend the audiobook!
I am so happy I finally picked up an Amy Daws rom-com. One Moment Please was highly entertaining and was such a fun read. If you need a fun romance to pick you up and put a smile on your face, I highly recommend One Moment Please. I can’t wait to read the other books in the series, as well as Amy Daws’s other series. I have a feeling she’s going to be a new favorite!
Lol. Amy Daws has a definite sense of humor and it has come out to play. One Moment Please is crazy, chaotic fun with a whole lotta “like.”
A quirky heroine walks into a bar…No thats not how it starts.
A hot doctor is a total rhymes with stick…true but not quite.
Hot doctor insults quirky girl…and magic happens.
As a reader, I love when authors have fun with their characters, the situation, or even just poke fun at themselves. One Moment Please is chock full of Amy Daws’ personality, quirkiness, and fun. It was a blast to read/listen to. Don’t even get me started on the narrators!
It’s mildly embarrassing because Erin Mallon (no, I’ve never met her) is kind of my audio hall pass. I have no shame in admitting I have a total girl crush on her and her voice especially when she does the dude growly voice thing she can do. Gah! Makes me bite my lip and then questions who I’m crushing on! And Teddy….oh Teddy! Teddy Hamilton has narrated some of my absolute iconic and favorite characters and he does broody well! I will be a 100% honest, either narrator could read my the quantum physics textbook from a level 4 college course and I might swoon. Too bad for them they are too busy!
WOW! I think this one is my favorites out of the Wait with Me series! In the beginning, Lynsey and Josh’s banter was off the charts. I thoroughly enjoyed that. The book had a nice pace and I couldn’t put it down.
Of course Erin and Teddy are perfect as always and man did Teddy show his grumpy/angry side for Dr. Josh.
I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Josh and Lynsey do not have a typical meet cute. They do have sparks from the get go as they challenge and antagonize each other. Josh acts like a real jerk to her at the beginning. Their insta-lust leads to a surprise pregnancy with an amazing reveal. This stand a lone is written in first person with dual POV.
I really liked Lynsey and her very optimistic attitude. It took a little while for Josh to grow on me. He obviously had something happen in his past to make him so closed off and grumpy, and that is slowly revealed over the course of the book. I found myself really feeling for him and I was thrilled when he eventually gets to where he needs to be. I liked the story premise and there are humorous moments and heat as well as moments that broke my heart. This is my first book by this author, but she has been on my radar for a while. I will definitely be reading more of her books very soon.
THIS AUDIO WAS EVERYTHING!!
This is surprise baby at its finest! Dr. Dick was SWOONY, Jones was adorable & laugh out loud funny & them together? ABSOLUTELY SIZZLING!!
Highly recommend this book!!
What a fun and quirky story!! I laughed, choked up, and swooned! Emotional and intense, yet funny and offbeat. Dr. Dick turned out to be Dr. Love! Amy Daws has captured my heart with One Moment Please! Fantastic story!!
I was totally surprised by this story.
While I love this trope, sometimes is kind of difficult to really see a plot that can catch my attention, even though I read everything depending on my mood, but with this story, I knew, I had to read till the very end.
I honestly, can’t complain. I think Amy’s writing is one of a kind. She can make us laugh our a*s off but also she can deliver an intense, well written, sweet and deep story. You feel a perfect balance between funny and serious.
Josh is a really complex character. His personality is not easy to digest when you read about him, but I felt I needed to give him a try. Nothing is at it seems, and every time I kept reading about him and his past, I got immerse little by little in his world and finally got to understand his suffering, his pain and his guilt.
By the end, I was so in love with him that I didn’t want to finish the book lol but it was worth it.
Lynsey is simple PERFECT. I think her clumsiness is one of the things I love about her the most. She is not the damsel in distress who needs a knight to save her from the demons of the world, she is strong-willed, kind, supportive, sweet and has a heart full of love. I think she was the kind of woman Josh needed in his life. Someone who was capable to bring light into his broken heart.
It was definitely beautiful how she grows and evolves and how she learns from herself and from Josh.
I couldn’t have asked for a better book to read. I can’t wait to read more of Amy’s work and funny stories. I’m pretty sure, I’m gonna laugh even more.
Unexpected, overpowering, heartbreaking, hilarious and delicious. The story of Josh and Lynsey is all those things and more. One Moment Please is the third book in the Wait With Me series.
Lynsey is best friends with Kate (Wait With Me). Taking inspiration from her friend, Lynsey finds her thesis writing vibe in the cafeteria of the hospital. Lynsey is driven and passionate with a deep love of charcuterie and French silk pie.
Josh, AKA Dr. Dick, is a surly, disconnected, and devastatingly handsome ER doctor at the hospital.
Their one night stand leads to a surprise pregnancy and a rather awkward reveal for Josh and Lynsey.
The surprise pregnancy trope is normally not my favorite because most authors make it too simple and sweet. Amy Daws provides the story with grit and grace. She had me laughing, blushing, and my heartbreaking. The character development makes this story a page-turner with their journey of adversity, discovery, and love. Through the whole book, I was rooting for these two to find their happily ever after. And let’s be honest, she had me at charcuterie board.
Overall Rating – .5
Amy Daws is new to me and I’m wondering why I’ve never picked up her books before! One Moment Please, was funny, engaging, had great characters and brought plenty of sexy scenes!
Lynsey has just finished her master’s thesis that she has been writing in a hospital cafeteria, when Josh the grumpy doctor who’s always watching her, decides to join her. They have some funny/grumpy banter between them but Lynsey leaves feeling miffed with his overall attitude.
Later that night she bumps into him while she’s out with her best friend, the tension is still there but one thing leads to another and a surprise baby is conceived.
Lynsey is funny, quirky and totally accident-prone. She’s one of those characters that you will easily take to due to her realness.
Josh, I didn’t like the way he kept saying he couldn’t love anyone due to a past trauma. But, what made it for me was his sexy grumpy, possessive, smouldering ways! He was a dream!
I really enjoyed this story, it’s was funny, sassy and I always get major swoon when the couple falls for each other and is one of the better surprises pregnancy books I have read. The book is easy to read, unputdownable and a must read if you enjoy this trope and a laugh out loud story!
ARC received for an honest review – thank you

I have been in a darker place lately with everything going on. This story brought me out of the darkness for a while with its quirky cafeteria meet up.
I love Dr. Josh and Lynsey, they are great characters. This story has some light hearted moments and some dark moments. At times I wanted to smack Josh. He is blinded by the past and the heartbreak he had gone through. He pushed away his friends, thinking there is no way they would want him in their lives after what had happened. Lynsey struggles with not knowing why Josh has a massive wall built up around his heart.
Will Josh ever be able to break free from the past that is holding him back? Will he ever be able to see past the pain and realize that he does deserve to be happy
As a long time Amy Daws fan, I was so excited to get my hands on an ARC of One Moment Please, and let me tell you, it might be my favorite of the bunch…. Which is HIGH praise considering my everlasting love of the Harris Brothers. Amy brings her signature blend of humor, heart, and steam in spades with her newest release.
One Moment Please is the third installment of her Wait With Me series of standalones (the first installment was just optioned by Passionflix by the way!!!) and I think this is my favorite of the set. This one is a little on a heavier side emotionally but in the best possible way. “Dr. Dick” Josh Richardson is the classic flawed hero using his ability to be a spectacular asshole to keep people at arms length and to seem unapproachable. Lynsey, the bright light to Josh’s dark, comes in and smashes all his carefully erected walls with her bright “take on the world” personality. Their playfully antagonistic banter and chemistry lead to an explosive relationship that brings all the feels you hope to find in a good rom-com.
The heartache and hurt this couple has to go through absolutely shattered me, but then in the way Daws only can, she brings them back together in such a beautiful and satisfying way in the end that it makes all the pain we had to endure with them through the book worth it.
I will admit secret baby/unplanned pregnancy has never been a favorite trope of mine, but I think Daws pulled it off in a realistic and relatable way. You really feel the struggle Lynsey and Josh go through to come to terms with everything and when everything resolves you are left feeling complete without it feeling forced.
All in all I absolutely recommend One Moment Please. Amy Daws has done it once again, delivering all the laughs, all the feels, and all the best things that make us love this genre.
Oh, how I adore a grumpy hero and Dr. Dick totally fit the bill! He and Lynsey had this fantastic hate/love thing going on and allll the chemistry. This one gave me the laughs and steamy times that I expected but also had some surprising moments that really hit me straight in the feels. I found myself tearing up more than once. I just loved it! Now, I have my fingers crossed that we’ll get Dean’s story next!
Its my first time reading an Amy Daws bool. I will never look at a Charcuterie again the same. Funny laughs Standalone HEA.
One Moment Please is a story which left me conflicting emotions to be honest. First of all, I LOVE Amy Daws’ writing, so all of her stories keep me 100% engaged 100% of the time even if I’m not down with the hero, so this is why I gave the perfect rating. There’s some hilarious interactions between Lynsey & Josh when they meet up, which ended them in bed hooking up one night making sparks explode into the atmosphere, however, that’s not all they created that night. Lynsey ends up in the ER, learning she’s pregnant, and Josh (and a doctor to boot) is the father, who happens to be the one who gives her the test results. And this is where Josh totally started bringing out my rage. In my opinion, he tortured soul issues weren’t anything other than selfishness in my eyes. And that selfishness manifested itself into really hurting Lynsey, which sadly had me very unforgiving towards him which never changed. Can he actually make up for some pretty big questionable douchey decisions?! You’ll have to hit those one click buttons to find out for yourselves! Despite Josh’s shortcomings, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Man Amy always gets me with her rom-coms! I have been waiting for one to come out. I have loved Jake in the other books, the little bits and pieces you got of him. He was such a moody mysterious man and I just couldn’t wait to get more about him.
Linsey, with her meet cute. Though it wasn’t really a meet cute since we was at the hospital cafeteria to finish her paper for school. Why the cafeteria, well it was the only place she could focus and get it done on time. But she caught the eye of a certain moody but hot doctor.
Jake couldn’t understand why he has seen the same lady everyday for the last few weeks sitting in the cafeteria with her laptop. There was something about her that kept him coming to the cafeteria and just watch her, try and figure her out. When one day he decided to do something about it, he got something he was expecting, pie on his crotch!
This books was full of laughs but also sweets and heartbreak. I loved everything about this book. Jake and Linsey together was not your typical situation of a couple but I enjoyed how they made it work and the outcome of it.

There is always something to be said for quirky meets, misunderstood meets, and downright awkward meets. Amy Daws has brought me some of the best. I think I have been spoiled a bit because I still hold Wait With Me near and dear…I mean come on, a Tire Shop!!!!
In One Moment Please we are starting off with a possible mistaken assumption by a doctor. He has been seeing the same woman in the hospital cafeteria for month typing away and eating his coveted chocolate silk pie. Not only does she look like she doesn’t belong there but she is taking slices of pie that should have been his.
On the day Lynsey Jones has completed writing her master’s thesis and is finally able to enjoy her slice of pie, the doctor who has been giving her the stink-eye while she was there, starts to come her way. As he stalks over with a determination and focus, Lynsey doesn’t understand what his problem is.
Oh, she had noticed him over the weeks she was working in the caf, how could she not. He was the perfect pinup for a hot, dark, brooding doctor in scrubs….and now he was placing his tray down on her table, starting to fork a salad into his grim mouth.
Lynsey strongly asks why he was sitting here and the next thing she knows, this guy starts accusing her of awful motives. Like she could be suffering from a disease where people are looking for attention and sympathy pretending they are sick. Stunned, he continued to say she could be stalking people who are suffering and she has no business being there.
Lynsey couldn’t believe what was happening and due to the way this idiot was eyeing her chocolate silk pie, she impulsively shoved the piece into her mouth and then smeared pie on his crotch.
Stomping away Lynsey thought of all the things she should have said to “Dr. Dick”.
Lynsey was at a turning point. Her prepaid lease was almost up. She had lived there with her bestie Kate but Kate met the love of her life and was now living with him. She was excited to get on with her life and now that her thesis was complete, her dream of working with children and doing a family clinic was a step closer. She was sure she would be employed in her field and able to move forward.
Her other friend Dean was taking her out to celebrate. At the bar, enjoying her dring named Birds and Bees, Lynsey is happy and enjoying her evening. Dean is funny and charming and normally is a great wingman. But tonight one of Dean’s huge clients walks in and Dean’s mind switches focus…He wants to get his client’s ear. Lynsey is introduced, hellos made and then behind the client stands Dr. Dick…Yup, Lynsey can’t believe it.
With Dean busy with the client, Lynsey has to listen to fresh barbs from Dr. Dick. If only he would leave or find someone else to pester. Because this guy seems determined to annoy Lynsey while being the sexiest, long drink of water…The sparks fly, the drinks flow and Dr. Dick says one thing too much and Lynsey is leaving. She tells Dean she is going to Uber it and Dr. Dick decides he will share the car.
You know how magnets have a pull so strong they click loudly and are hard to pull apart…Well, these two are sparking and bickering and when the Dr. gets out for his house saying something to annoy Lynsey even more… She gets out of the car slamming the door.
Her booze high is not strong but the lust high is…and these two are ready to combust…like how that dislike or hate screw can be dynamic. That is how hot their coupling is…things are done, things Lynsey never did…both cut loose and it was outstanding.
The next morning Lynsey has disappeared and Josh, who Lynsey had nicknamed Dr. Dick, had wanted to get her number and maybe see her again. But she was gone. Well, for the best, as Josh didn’t do relationships or love or commitments. He had learned his lesson, those things caused pain. Caused distraction and made him make mistakes. He will never allow that again.
Three months later, Lynsey’s plans have not fallen into place. That job she thought she would get right away, hasn’t happened. Her lease is up and now she probably will have to move back home, something she really does not want to do. Her personal life has been dumb and she is going on one last first date because why not.
Well, that wasn’t a great decision because she experienced a freak accident that ended up with her in the emergency room. With Kate by her side, she waits for the doctor to come in and look at her cut finger and twisted ankle.
And opening the door is the one and only sexy, annoying Dr. Dick. Yup, he is the one who is going to take care of her, ask all those private questions and receive the results of the standard tests taken.
Once both of them recover from their first look, Josh is flat, controlled and handles the situation.
He comes in after all of the results are back from Lynsey’s blood test and shock of shock, he gets to tell Lynsey she is pregnant. The ultrasound shows exactly when the pregnancy happened within 2 days…so bingo, Dr. Dick and Lynsey are going to be parents. Turns out the emergency condom Lynsey dug out of her purse was expired. OOPS.
This is a tale with many strong moments and also with some that caused a bit of frustration. Lynsey was someone who had a goal and was educated. She was able to see life with or without the father of her child. I liked that. She did have moments where I wanted to shake her because she was walking into a situation she knew would probably not end up the way she wanted.
As for our guy…He could be sweet but it was hard for him as he was extremely damaged by his past. He carried major guilt and this past caused him to shut down and compartmentalize in order to do his job and live his life. He was not the man he once was…and this caused him and Lynsey their complications.
There was lots of humor and sexy times. The anticipation of the little one also was a delight. It took a hot minute for these two to finally have their HEA but when they did, we cheered.
This is a series I have gobbled up and there were a couple of hints for other couples…I cannot wait.
I enjoyed it. I did. I love Amy Daws’s writing. She is one of the few rom-com authors I even read anymore. I will say, though, that out of the three standalones in this world, it was my least favorite (maybe because I don’t love the surprise pregnancy trope).
Josh was a good character – emotionally closed off, refusing to care or love. It is clear this will be the crux of the conflict very early on. I will say the build up to the conflict, which was most of the book, was resolved pretty quickly. I did, overall, love his character. He exemplifies the romanticized notion that when you meet the one, you can’t help but fall. And he truly resists with every single thing that he has; however, the reader sees the writing on the wall which makes him sympathetic.
Lynsey is a bit crazy and clumsy. Her antics are similar to that of the previous heroine in Wait with Me, which I expected. I did like her character, particularly that she struggled with idea of what she could live with and without in a marriage.
This story is a laugh out loud, crazy. It is maybe one of Amy’s hottest books she has written. I truly loved e sweet and intimate moments between Josh and Lynsey. The pacing was a bit off for me. The quick resolution as mentioned above. Some sub plots seemed unresolved, and there were some social commentary that didn’t seem integral to the plot. What I loved, totally, was the whole cast of secondary characters. The humor and love, the cameos all add to the book.
I wholeheartedly love Amy’s writing and the world she builds. I find her stories to be funny and romantic and charming . While One Moment Please wasn’t my favorite, it still has all of this elements I loved about her writing.
