That awkward moment when an ER doctor has to inform you that you’re pregnant…with his baby.Three things Lynsey Jones knows about the hot doctor: he’s grouchy, an arrogant jerk, and strangely obsessed with pie.Three things Dr. Dick knows: he doesn’t talk about his past, he doesn’t do relationships, and the crazy girl in the hospital cafeteria who ate a fistful of French silk pie…is annoyingly … pie…is annoyingly irresistible.
After a chance meetup at a bar and a heated cab ride together, things come to a head and now instead of hating each other, they’re horizontal in a bed.
Three months later, the weird cafeteria stalker who crept out of Dr. Dick’s house like a thief in the night, winds up as his patient in the ER after her Tinder date from hell.
Dr. Dick is prepared to keep it cool and professional. That is until her bloodwork reveals that she’s pregnant.
What really throws him for a loop…is that the surprise baby…is his.

This story follows Lynsey and Josh, who we met in prior stories. I have really enjoyed the prior stories and while I did enjoy this story as well, I didn’t find the characters as lovable or even as memorable. A surprise baby trope, I usually enjoy the coming together of the parents as they prepare for this momentous occasion but Josh was a tad of a jerk too often. As a character driven reader, it’s important for me to identify with both of the characters, which I felt I did with the first 2 books in this series but less so with this one. However, I did listen to the audiobook, which was narrated by the unbeatable team of Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon and I adored them so much that they elevated the story for me.

LOVED!
Plot was fun. Hilarious and hot throughout.
Characters were great.
-Lynsey is hilarious and strong willed. Outgoing as well.
-Josh takes everything too seriously. He’s miserable and incapable of love. Or so he thinks.
Much needed HEA
My audio read of the week was a surprise pregnancy after a one night stand story.
Lynsey really enjoys the silk pie served at the local hospital cafeteria, this is where she first meets or rather clashes with Josh, one of the ER doctors.
The next time they meet is through mutual friends and once again they both have their hackles up with each other. Crazy then that the night ends with them in bed together. Unbeknownst to them, they made a baby that night.
Nick breaks the news to Lynsey when she is a patient in the ER a few months later. Once he comes to grips with the fact that the baby is his, he immerses himself into full expectant father mode. This is a good and a bad thing for Lynsey, it’s great that he wants to be a part of the baby’s life but bad because he can be very OTT with her pregnancy wellbeing.
The thing with Nick is that this is all he really wants to do. He has no interest in falling in love and living happy ever after. He is quite transactional about things and Lynsey can’t understand why he refuses to let emotions and feelings guide him.
This is a fun frenemies romance story that kept me entertained and invested in this couple until the very last minute.
This is the first book that I have read from Any Daws and I loved it!!!! I am a sucker for surprise pregnancies and this isn’t like any that I have read before!!!! It was absolutely amazing with a ton of humor mixed in!!! The banter between Josh and Lynsey is off the charts hilarious!!! They had an instant chemistry that you won’t want to miss!!
Still a rom-com, but with a heavy emotional bite too. I’ll admit to a little eye leakage, lol. Still plenty of romance and laughs, though. Josh is a complicated and emotionally unavailable fellow, but his crusty little heart was worth saving.
Laugh out loud funny and still somehow sweet and swoon worthy! One Moment Please is packed full of steam, FEELS, love, laughter and it’s bound to bring a smile on your face!
“”What do I have to do to make those red lips of yours shut up for any length of time?”
“Maybe you should kiss me,””
I love Amy’s writing style and her creativity. I’m a nurse so I particularly enjoyed reading an author that had clearly done some research before writing a both with a doctor for the male lead.
I loved how Daws didn’t have Josh fade into a sweet man, which is what I’m sure some would’ve preferred, upon hearing that he’s about to be a father. The man stayed cold and cautious and all things considered, when you find out why, it’s completely understandable. He was seemingly unfeeling and stubborn to the point of frustration but still lovable and HOT
I loved Lynsey! Her fierceness, ambition, outlook and positivity. A clever and guarded heroine that was still so sweet and admirable. Not to mention, hilarious. That girls inner monologue had me laughing out loud!
I loved the setting and the side characters. The family feel. The quirks of both Josh and Lynsey as individuals and just how epic they were together.
A refreshing read for me and I highly recommend it. 5 stars, hands down!
An emotional intensity that makes you want to weep or scream for what Josh and Lysney go through. Josh has so many past hurts he can’t seem to be the person he has deep inside of him. I enjoyed their banter, which made this book witty and fun despite the turmoil inside of Josh. I found this book sweet and charming. I swooned, I teared up, and I was left smiling in the end. I absolutely loved this story. Amy Dawes never ceases to amaze me.
I loved these two! From their first meeting to the epilogue I couldn’t get enough of these. They made me laugh, wonder and sometimes say What?!? Josh’s grand gesture was wonderful! I loved seeing Miles and that crazy Kate! Dean! Will he ever get his story?
The narrators Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton do an amazing job! They really bring out so much of the characters.
One Moment Please was all the time I needed to fall in love with this story. Surprise babies are an absolute favorite of mine and add in a bossy, grumpy and sexy doctor and I’m all in. Josh and Lynsey are fireworks from the start and had me laughing out loud and wanting to strangle them. He’s gorgeous and protective but guarded because of his painful past. Lyns lives life to the fullest and shouldn’t settle. Two imperfect people who ended up being perfect for each other. You need to read this book for the pie, the expiration date, the Captain America tattoo, the party bus, Dean and the letter alone. One Moment Please will have you catching your breath, rolling your eyes, cracking up and needing a shower or an “O” and not necessarily in that order. You won’t want to miss this book because these moments are beautiful to watch and I couldn’t put this book down!

(Dual POVs)
This book had a more serious undertone than the other rom coms from this series. I didn’t laugh quite as much through this one than I did in the previous 2. I thought Josh had some serious anxiety when it came to worrying about Lynsey and the baby and he has a ton of guilt from his past that he has yet to let go of. He has a jealous/ territorial side where he doesn’t want anyone to take away what he has with Lynsey and the baby, but he also isn’t willing to give Lynsey everything she desires in a family. I did enjoy that Josh was a bit rougher and commanding in the bedroom though.
When we’re first introduced to Josh, all I could think was “Dr. Dick is the perfect name for him,” cause he was pretty much an asshole to Lynsey, but I loved that Lynsey didn’t just sit there and take it. Lynsey loves working with kids and she wants to open her own practice to help counsel young children through trauma, such as an illness. She’s always wanted babies and after the initial shock wears off, I appreciated her determination to take care of the baby, even if she had to do it by herself.
Favorite quotes:
”If you were mine, I’d never let you out of my sight at night.” -Josh
“…am I pregnant?”
“Yes.”
“How?” she cries, shaking her head.
I run a hand through my hair, trying to stop the trembling sensation running through my fingertips. “Typically, from having sex, unless you’ve been seeing a reproductive endocrinologist and did IVF or IUI, and in that case, actual intercourse isn’t performed.”
“Lynsey, your grand gesture is here!” – Kate
A wonderful story! I lived the characters and the plot. It’s a well written and engaging. Lynsey is a fun, sweet and relatable. And Josh is sexy and over protective but we love him anyways. Watching him heal was wonderful and I loved the ending. A must read!
When I read this book the first time I completely fell head over heels for it and it was one of what I like to call my “height of quarantine books.” I had a bit of trouble reading at the beginning of quarantine and this book got me out of a slump and left me giggling. I will always be thankful for books like this one that let me escape from the crazy world around us and helped me through such a hard time.
This review is based on a reread I just did in preparation for Take A Number. I think that One Moment Please has a bit more of a serious feel than the previous books in the series because they are dealing with a surprise pregnancy and you have a bit more of a grumpy closed-off hero in this one. But it still brings you those signature funny moments that Amy throws in her books! This one brings you a hilarious meet-cute, great comedic banter, and so much steam you will blush!
Lyndsey was hilarious, headstrong, and such an amazing momma! I really loved seeing her accomplish goals and figure out what she wanted throughout the book. Josh on the other hand was definitely a bit harder to connect to. He was facing some issues mentally throughout the book that kept him from falling for Lyndsey and at times his choices because of it were questionable. I felt like he overcame issues way faster than a normal person would which was a bit unrealistic. But there were some moments between him and supporting characters that really got to me and by the end, I definitely felt for him a bit more. Together, Lyndsey and Josh had mass amounts of chemistry and were super sweet together. They brought tons of steam and a good amount of cute banter that had me wishing I wasn’t single. And I definitely can’t stop thinking about that epilogue!
I don’t think I will ever be ready to give up this hilarious group of characters! They constantly keep me on my toes with their antics and I almost always have a smile on my face because of it! Dean’s book is next and I am so excited to get into his mind and see what’s going on in there! I also hope we get tons of cameos because I need more Kate, Miles, Sam, Maggie, Lyndsey, Josh, and of course the adorable little baby we meet in this one!
Josh is stiff and cold and his emotions are tightly bottled – it took a while to warm to him. Lynsey has lovely warm and supportive friends that have helped her find herself after a very cloistered upbringing.
Lynsey and Josh have a lot to learn about becoming parents, dealing with past heartache and following their dreams.
Love Dr Dick!
I particularly like this book, it leads us to know Lynsey that in one night of passion with the beautiful Dr. Josh she gets pregnant and realizes it three months later. In a way, they over carry the whole pregnancy and end up living together but something changes and they end up not only stripping their body but also their soul from each other.
In this story what catches your eye is the fact that without knowing it we always look for what we are missing in someone else, I explain, Lynsey’s attitude towards life is not affected in terms of the situations she lives, but those situations give her the strength to move forward and improve. She doesn’t let situations define her, but rather her personality comes out in the open.
On the other hand, Josh is the type who lets some situations in his life change him, affecting his personality, his way of living and his way of being with other people. He gets caught up in the situation, and his past doesn’t let him live or enjoy life.
They are completely opposite poles, that destiny unites them, they have a surprising chemistry, but without knowing it, emotionally one affects the life of the other in a natural way, without pressure, and that I think is what makes the book very fluid.
*** 4.5 Stars ***
One Moment Please (Wait With Me #3) by Amy Daws is a contemporary, surprise baby, romantic comedy told in first person, dual POV. Although it’s book three of the Wait With Me series, it is also a complete standalone.
Lynsey Jones is working on her master’s thesis. The only place she’s been able to concentrate and get into a good writing flow is in the cafeteria at her local hospital. Every day, Lynsey enjoys a piece of pie while she writes in the hospital cafeteria. And every day this hot doctor glares at her from across the room. Lynsey doesn’t know what his problem is until one day he rudely confronts her. They have an awkward exchange, and she storms out mentally nicknaming him “Dr. Dick.”
When Dr. Josh Richardson goes to the bar with his friend, he never expects to run into the crazy girl he argued with in the hospital cafeteria. He doesn’t expect to share an Uber with her or to take her back to his place to spend the night with her. Josh definitely doesn’t expect her to sneak out while he showers the next morning. The last thing he expects is Lynsey showing up as a patient in his ER three months later, and pregnant with his baby. Josh isn’t a relationship guy. He never plans to get married, and he never wanted to be a father either, but he’s determined to be responsible and take care of Lynsey and the baby.
What will happen between Josh and Lynsey as he helps her through her pregnancy? Will they become friends? Will they become more? Will Lynsey be able to get past Josh’s walls? Will he remain detached and support her from afar? Read the book to find out.
I enjoyed Josh and Lynsey’s story. The premise was a lot of fun and I enjoyed getting into Dr Dick’s head to discover what made him behave in such a cold and brash manner. It took some time for me to warm up to him though. Although it’s not my favorite from the series, this is still a fun book that delivered lots of laughs. I’m looking forward to seeing more of these characters in future books.
This book was everything ! I honestly started out with this book unsure if I could ever like Dr. Dick and wanted to stop reading but I’m so glad it kept pulling me in because it made me laugh out loud, it got hot and steamy, it made me bawl big tears and sigh with happiness. It was a great book.
One Moment Please is definitely a fun, romantic, laugh out loud read.
It is a perfect rom-com with everything I love: a grumpy sexy man, a fierce woman and inconvenient surprise pregnancy.
Amy did an amazing job with her flawless writing here, leaving me with a huge smile.
Lynsey and Josh aka Dr. Dick do things a bit backwards. Why do a relationship when you can do a one night stand that results in a baby. These two have a great thing going then they don’t. Then they do lol. Then its basically how life is not a romance story but the real life stuff. That does eventually turn into a great love story.
Sweet, steamy, and frustrating because these two should be *together* together, not just ‘together’!
Thanks to a faulty condom from Lynsey’s friend Kate and one night of tipsy, angry, I hate you sex with that jerk doctor she met in the hospital cafeteria, a surprise bundle of joy is on its way. Talk about bad timing, wrong person, and a messed up situation!
This book was so much fun! Not just the pitfalls of pregnancy but the pitfalls of getting to know a stranger that is now tied to you forever by a baby on the way. There were laughs, the right amount of steam, and tons of emotions – my eyes may have leaked once or twice…
I really liked it! It’s a great addition to the Wait With Me series.
