That awkward moment when an ER doctor has to inform you that you’re pregnant…with his baby.Three things Lynsey Jones knows about the hot doctor: he’s grouchy, an arrogant jerk, and strangely obsessed with pie.Three things Dr. Dick knows: he doesn’t talk about his past, he doesn’t do relationships, and the crazy girl in the hospital cafeteria who ate a fistful of French silk pie…is annoyingly … pie…is annoyingly irresistible.
After a chance meetup at a bar and a heated cab ride together, things come to a head and now instead of hating each other, they’re horizontal in a bed.
Three months later, the weird cafeteria stalker who crept out of Dr. Dick’s house like a thief in the night, winds up as his patient in the ER after her Tinder date from hell.
Dr. Dick is prepared to keep it cool and professional. That is until her bloodwork reveals that she’s pregnant.
What really throws him for a loop…is that the surprise baby…is his.

Where to even begin with this review?! I truly loved every single bit of this story! I think it’s probably my fave story by Amy to date, and that’s saying a lot since I’m a #HarrisHo and proud of it!! But this book…oh the feels!! I was laughing, grinding my teeth, heart racing, elated, heartbroken, fanning myself due to some steamy scenes, and happy. This was a roller coaster of emotions of a read for me and I loved every page from start to finish!!!
Lynsey is a fabulous lead!! She’s feisty, sweet, independent, loyal, loving, and caring. I love how even while upset with him, she still wanted to try and help him. That speaks highly of her character.
Josh…oh sweet, tormented, sexy, dirty mouthed Josh. He was a great character as well. He was a dick, a provider, protective, possessive (but not OTT), sexy, stubborn, and broken that I couldn’t help but love him!!
All in all, this was a fabulous read and I highly recommend it!! Thank you Amy for this copy. This is my honest review.
Amy Daws is hilarious. I have loved every single one of her books I’ve had the opportunity to read or listen to. They are all wonderful in their own way.
I am a sucker for surprise pregnancy books (they’re my kryptonite) so when I saw the opportunity to read one by the hilarious Amy Daws, I jumped on the chance. She did not disappoint!
I loved the chemistry and relationship between Josh and Lynsey. The way she slowly warms his cold dead heart. Ok, that may be an exaggeration but not by much. The way their relationship grows is heartwarming and I loved every single second.
I highly recommend this read!
What to say and will it do One Moment Please justice, well I guess I start with saying how this book made me feel !!!!. One Moment Please ticked all my boxes, at times I laughed out loud and at times I was holding my breath so for me this story is romantic comedy at its best…..
A chance meeting in the hospital cafeteria leads to one night of passion for Josh ( Dr Dick) and Lynsey but she leaves in the middle of the night and now a few months on she finds herself face to face with Dr Dick again in the hospital emergency room.
The last thing Lynsey expects to hear us she is pregnant and to make matters worse the Doc telling her the news is the father……..
This story drew me in and it captivated me from the first page to the last line, it’s one of those special stories you never want to end, it has adorable quirky characters who will make you smile with their banter and swoon with their chemistry, the storyline is strong and written superbly, so what’s left for me to say apart from please one click this gem from the Ms Daws who is certainly up there with the best of rom-com authors. Looking forward to what’s next from this very talented author.
Hilarious, sexy fun! Who knew that Kate’s bestie, Lynsey, was such a firecracker with a crazy mouth on her? That mouth got her in trouble with the infuriatingly sexy Dr. Dick aka Josh aka baby daddy. He pushes all of Lynsey’s buttons then he take her challenge and runs with it. Yeah, that one-night stand just keeps giving. An oops baby! But the sexy doctor has a secret that is tragic and keeps him from living his best life. This story is at times laugh-out-loud funny with emotional elements that are heart twisting and a sexy connection between Lyns and Josh that will melt your panties. The best of everything you want in a rom-com! This fabulous author has done it again with a pair of characters that jump off the pages into your heart with their emotional journey to parenthood and love. It’s paved with challenges and heartfelt emotions and a steamy chemistry that just won’t quite. This is an outstanding addition to this stellar series. Of course, there are glimpses of the old gang and the metrosexual playboy, Dean. I can’t wait for his story. There’s a hint of what lies ahead for him in the form of a sexy baker. Looks delicious ;)! This author’s stories are always a must read and this story is spectacular! Not enough stars for this one. Absolutely fantastic! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
My Review: ARC Provided
Five Stars!
I had a vague idea of what this book was about but I’m so glad I went in semi-blind! I fell in love with our heroine Lynsey, she was smart, funny, passionate and bought the best out in people. Her character made me laugh out loud several times. Then we have broody Josh our hero, he’s not the most likable at first but there is something about him that pulls you in, an underlying layer that you need to figure out. This was the perfect opposites attract book, both of these characters fed off each other and made the other one better. I’ll say in the beginning I wasn’t sure I wanted Lynsey with Josh but as the book went on they became the perfect couple. There were so many times I was screaming at him in my head and telling him to open up. I love what happened when he finally did. He didn’t have any easy life and it takes a while for him to look at himself, forgive and heal.
I love love love Lynsey and Kate’s friendship and was so happy to see more of it in this book along with Miles and the gang too. I’m thinking Dean needs a book and hopefully with the baker Norah that was introduced. I also love how Amy throws her love for charcuterie in the book and all chapters of Lynsey have a photo of a cheeseboard…so cute!
This book had me devouring the pages and rooting for the H and h to have more than just an arrangement. I loved every word!
I was excited to get Lynsey and Dr. Dick’s story! The chemistry between them was palpable, but they didn’t succumb to it immediately. There was a nice build up and the push/pull between them was enjoyable. Yes, this couple did things a little backwards, but I enjoyed watching Lynsey slowly take over Josh’s world. She also doesn’t let him get away with anything and she stands up for herself. This story was swoony, sweet, frustrating and everything I love about a HEA! Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. I devoured this book and was lost in Lynsey’s story! If you like a story that makes you feel good, then be sure not to let this book pass you by!
Once I started reading I just couldn’t stop!! I fell hopelessly in love with Lynsey and Josh! Amy Daws can have me cracking up laughing and then balling my eyes out! Such extreme emotions changing in this book. A unique and wonderful story . Love can make you do the impossible. It wasn’t just one moment that I loved, It was every single moment of this book.
I could not wait for One Moment Please by Amy Daws to hit my kindle and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. We finally have Lynsey and Dr. Dick’s story and it was so much more than I ever expected! I loved it and devoured it as quickly as I could! You do not have to read the previous two books, as each can be read as standalone, however, they are each amazing in their own right and I highly recommend each one!
Though we got a tease of what was to come at the end of the previous book, we get to see Lynsey and Josh’s first interactions and their amazing banter! Their bickering will have you laughing out loud! Lynsey was such a strong female character and very strong-minded but she also had a vulnerable side. Josh had a tough exterior and he was all gruff, but we see beneath that and know he is struggling with his own demons. Opening his heart to anyone is a no go for him. And yet every time we see them together, get to know each other and their steamy chemistry, you know they are meant to be together. But will they realize it before it’s too late?
I have to say, their journey was hilarious, touching and heartbreaking. I just loved seeing these two together. I laughed so much and could not stop reading. It was also great to see Kate, Dean and Lynsey’s friendship again because we all need friends like them! And that one moment we have all been waiting for since the first book, I just swooned! It was perfect! I cannot express how much I loved this story. A definite must-read!
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
QUICK, Get a CBC, Chem 7, oxygen and medicine for a temperature RISING and a racing pulse. STAT!! YOU’RE GONNA NEED IT.
The doctor is in!
You’ve heard of Dr McDreamy well meet Dr McGrumpy. Or as he is more commonly referred to Dr Dick!!!
Get ready for all the laughs of Scrubs and all the heat and tenderness of Grey’s Anatomy and ER with so much more. Seriously, stitches will be needed from the side splitting laughter that will ensue but bring your tissues too because there are moments when you will want to wrap Josh and Lynsey up and just give them the TLC they deserve. I can’t say enough about this fabulous book. This is the third book in the Tires, Tires, Tires series and it is the best one yet. That’s saying a lot because I loved the previous two. This book has been a long time in the making and it was worth the wait. My emotions are all over the place. The author has outdone herself. The title may be one moment please but your emotions will flow from moment to moment!
I don’t do spoilers. It’s not fair to the author. Read the blurb, get the gist. Then get the full enjoyment of the story. That’s what you paid good money for. What I will tell you is
Amy’s mind for bizarre hysterical moments is fascinating and captivating. I don’t know how her mind works or how she comes up with these situations. She’s like the master mixologist of crazy concoctions that work. They’re always delicious and you always asking for another round. Her dialogue is unique, clever and always on point.
And we’re all thankful for that.
If there’s one thing I know it’s Amy Daws is always going to have a hit. Shes going to bring a smile to your face. Sure you may have your absolute favorite heroine and hero but each book will bring you so much joy. This is my second time reading this story because once wasn’t enough. Did I have things I should be doing? Of course I did but when Amy writes a book YOU make the time. I tell the husband and kids, One Moment Please, just wait with me, you’re next in line and I’ll be with you in a minute…(a doctor’s minute) and we all know how long that is!
This book is just the right prescription and just what the doctor ordered!
Absolutely adored this story! The characters were perfectly flawed and so darn likable. The plot was incredibly emotional. I was thoroughly invested in Josh and Lynsey from the start.
This rom-com had me laughing out loud, clenching my thighs and tearing up with emotion. Amy did an incredible job weaving real life into this fictional love story. The pregnancy was extremely relatable, the navigation of the aftermath of a one night stand was raw and honest and the characters themselves were real and quite refreshing! Amy’s quirkiness and unique interests shined through in her writing of One Moment Please. I really enjoyed reading a book that very well could have been someone’s actual experiences! Pie butt and all! Mmmmm, now I want some pie.
I wanted to junk punch Dr. Josh on more than one occasion but I knew in the end, we’d find out the honest reason as to why he was so guarded and that the heroine would eventually tear down his walls. I expected a much more dramatic plot but I was still happy with how the story unfolded. I felt for Josh and his struggle. I felt for his emotional unavailability. But part of me felt like he was being overly dramatic at times. I’m so glad Lynsey grew a backbone and stood up for herself and her baby in the end. It was a much needed route for the story to go.
A solid 4 star read. Extremely funny. Emotionally gripping. A super sweet HEA! I’d love to see the author bless us with an extended epilogue of the Richardsons!
One Moment Please is the perfect next book for Amy’s Wait with Me Series. I can’t get enough of Lynsey, Kate, and Dean’s friendship and the dialogue has me wishing I was part of their group. The writing and characters pull you into their world right away. Plus this book had me laughing, crushing, blushing, and running to Amy Daw’s Pinterest page to check out the hottie inspiration for Dr. Dick!
Aside from our Boulder, Co hotties, my favorite part of this book is Lynsey. Amy is a pro at writing kick ass, goal oriented heroines that we can root for. Plus, the men that cheer them on are so totally swoon-worthy.
While this book can certainly be read as a stand alone, I recommend starting with the equally hilarious, Wait with Me. It makes these carefully created characters just that much better. I might make some enemies here (sorry Harris family!), but Lynsey & Dr. Dick, Maggie & Sam, and Mile & Kate have bumped the Wait with Me series to one of my all time favorites. The books are hilarious and sweet and please say we’re getting another one!
In summary: One Moment Please is a perfect mix of humor, steam, heavy, and friendship. And I loved it.
It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with surprise pregnancy/secret baby romances. I don’t know exactly what it is about them that I love, but I just do. I knew I was going to love this book from the second that I read the blurb. This was such a unique twist on the book. Nobody would ever think a doctor would accidentally get somebody pregnant. This book was light but it dealt with a whole lot of heavy. Still, I found myself laughing at various parts of the book and the epilogue is so sweet. I love Josh for always being that guy that wants to help people and do the right thing and I love that Lynsey knew her worth and never settled for anything. Overall, this is a stellar book and I highly recommend it.
Arc kindly provided by author. All thoughts are my own.
Um I do think that Josh and Lynsey may just be my favorite couple in this series! I love them so freaking much! But especially Josh. I have a soft spot for a totally broken angry hero that you can also see has a heart inside him that he’s just not willing (yet) to show or share with anyone including himself for a long time. Josh is the perfect example of this so if you love characters like that this book is for you!
As always this book has everything you expect from an Amy Daws book! Love, laughter, emotions, tears and of course a love of charcuterie because of course!
If you are looking for something to read during this weird time we are all in right now this is a great one! it will give you a bit of escape from everything but it is still a bit of a nice ode to our doctors in a way to remind you that they are always working hard and giving it their all no matter what may be going on. (no there is no mention of the virus or anything this was written before any of this) but it is a nice reminder to us all that our doctors and health professionals can’t always leave their work at work like they think or wish they could.
Just a touch of seriousness in the midst of lots and lots signature Amy Daws laughs and humor!
This was my first read by Amy, why the hell I’ve waited so long to read her books I’ll never know, cos let me tell you, this was a fantastic read on lots of levels!! I absolutely loved it!! I’ve laughed and cried, it’s funny and its poignant and heartbreaking. The characters are brilliantly done and you get lost in the story of their ‘relationship’. Seriously, one of my best reads this year, read in one sitting as I couldn’t put it down until it was finished in the wee hours of the morning!
A ‘surprise baby’ read comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes, and to be honest this is one of the best one of those that I’ve read, as it covers from prior to the event, conception, the whole 9 months and then after the birth, not skipping any of the major milestones, which was great for me.
As I’ve said, the characters are brilliant… Dr Josh Richardson, aka Dr Dick, is renowned at the hospital where he works for his abrupt and cold manners, he’s rude and arrogant, he’s also seriously hot, a workaholic and doesn’t do relationships. Lynsey Jones is a bit of a klutz and a geek, looking to finish her thesis and get a job working in child psychology, but the only place she gets inspired to write is in the local hospital cafeteria, where she’s been going for the past 3 months, eating pie whilst there. This is where the two first meet, she’s just finished her thesis and is feeling chuffed, until Dr Dick opens his mouth and ruins it all, she responds by dropping her pie in his groin!
After another chance meeting in a bar, where a verbal slanging match ensues, before they end up sharing a taxi ride, and then sharing a bed for the night!! Lynsey ends up sloping off in the morning whilst he is in the shower. 3 months later she ends up in the ER having had an allergic reaction to some food and Dr Dick turns out to be her doctor, and her blood work shows she is pregnant, and it’s his! All this is in the blurb, so not letting anything out of the bag here!
The story is amazing and has so many different layers to it, you can be laughing your socks off on one page and then crying your eyes out on the next! These two are complete opposites yet fit so well together, if only they could work out how to have a relationship, the only part of this that works well is in the bedroom, where it gets very hot and steamy! As the story unfolds and you get some background, you find Dr Dick is hiding some very important information that makes him the way he is, and his heart starts to thaw and crack and you get to see the man behind his facade.
I can’t recommend this one highly enough, and I will certainly be reading more from Amy.
Amy is one of those few unicorn authors that can have me laughing so hard on one page, and crying just as much on the other. Her books are the perfect blend of steam, romance, swoon, emotion, hilarious moments you’ll never forget, badass heroines and the men who love them! In essence, her books are everything and everyone should be required to read them!
I’ve read and loved the previous books in the series, but this one is my absolute favorite!! Lynsey is the kind of heroine that you immediately root for and what to be friends with in real life: she’s strong, independent, goal oriented, wants to kick ass at both her career AND motherhood, has the biggest heart, is quirky, hilarious and a BADASS. Seriously, I love this lady so much.
After an unfortunate first official meeting with Dr. Dick that has them hooking up after a night of drinks, Lynsey sees him again threw months later when he’s informing her that she is pregnant.. And she knows right away that it’s his child. We see her experience the very real emotions that comes with impending motherhood, from emotional to physical in such a genuine way, and I loved how she really grew into herself while she was literally growing a human being. I loved her friendship with Kate and Dean, and how supportive they were of her, especially when Lynsey’s own parents were so judgemental. I loved how much she loved Josh, and taught him that it’s ok to let go of the past and truly embrace someone and love them with your entire heart and soul. Like I said, she was just the perfect heroine!!
Dr. Dick — Josh– is an ER doctor who hates is job, is annoyed with Lynsey for eating all the pie, and is extremely closed off. He comes off cold and calculated at fist, but when you get inside his head, you see someone who is terrified of loving someone just to lose them.. And having already experienced a great loss, he just couldn’t take that risk. My heart broke for him on numerous occasions, and even though he did act like a dick — and needed to be punched in the dick so many times — he’s one of those heroes you can’t help but root for and love. All he ever wanted to do was protect Lynsey and their unborn baby from everything, including himself, and that’s just so tragically beautiful. I loved seeing the vulnerable man that he became with Lynsey and just ADORED how much he loved her and their baby!
This love story was so hilarious, so emotional and just so perfect! I started reading earlier tonight and could not put it down — now here I am two hours later and I just want to read it again already! This is a definite must read, and I can’t wait for more by this incredible author!! Hopefully Dean’s book will be next! *wink wink!*
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!!**
Amy Daws has outdone herself with this book! I loved the first two books in this series, Wait With Me, and Next In Line, but this one had all the emotions and definitely all the passion! Not only that, but Dr. Dick, totally lived up to his name. It was really hard to like him at first. It really helped once we got a chapter from his point of view, but even then, not knowing exactly what made him the way he was kept me hanging on every word to learn just what could make him feel the way he did. I feel like the author totally needs swag now like what was featured in this book and led to the whole story conflict.
There was just a lot of fun in the story as well as the emotion and passion. I loved how Josh (Dr. Dick) just really liked Lynsey the way she was. How just her being around made him smile. And then her clumsiness was so funny. Some of the things she did I can totally see myself doing, or probably have done in the past. This book was well worth the wait, and as always from this author, a total hit! I have to say one perk of this whole self-isolation/quarantine time we are dealing with right now is the time to read a whole book in one day, so it’s kind of like watching a movie!
*4,5 stars*
I always love reading books by this author as she’s one of my favorites. This one didn’t disappoint yet again. I really enjoyed Lynsey and Josh’ story. It was funny but also emotional at times. A perfect mix!
Lynsey is trying to figure out where to go in her life after she has graduated. When finishing up her thesis, she’s found her inspiration at a hospital cafetaria but when Josh swings by her table, it doesn’t take much to annoy her as he is really getting underneath her skin. When they meet again, they end up having a one night stand that may lead to more than what they had imagined… Now with Lynsey searching for a new job, they are trying to figure out together what to do next. Slowly the puzzles are being pieced together but even though their relationship is changing, Josh can’t seem to let go of his past. Lynsey’s feelings are getting stronger but it seems that Josh doesn’t feel the same, or does he?… Will Josh be able to figure out his feelings and will they have a future together?…
The Doctor is in and he’s HAWT!!!!
One Moment Please is the third in the ‘Wait With Me’ series by Amy Daws, although it does actually start before book2 in the timeline, from what I read at least. This is the story of Lyndsey and Josh.
Lyndsey is Kate’s best friend(from book 1 ‘Wait With Me’) and has just finished her Master’s thesis paper which she has been writing for a while, and in the most unusual of places. Josh is an ER doctor at the hospital where Lyndsey has been hanging out (in the cafeteria). He and Lyndsey don’t have the best of ‘meet-cutes’. He makes unfounded accusations and Lynsey retorts with a French silk pie to the crotch!!
Can you imagine their reactions when they bump into each other in a bar that evening??? Yeah?? LOL, it goes as you might think, until…
Well, it gets better, lol.
This was a hot and steamy story, with a bit of angst, secrets and a ton of hate/love shenanigans. Amy has brought some fabulous characters to life in these books and I loved reading them. They are quite simply unputdownable. From the first line to the last, you laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll even squirm a little, and or will you swoon. Josh may have started out as cold and hardheaded, but his center is warm and ah, so gooey.
Hoping Dean’s story is next as this guy really deserves one.
This has officially become my favorite Amy Daws book to date!
One Moment Please has all the ingredients that I love in a book. From the enemies-to-lovers take and the fun banter that comes with it to the incredibly sexy, hot scenes that had me begging for more. Add in a grumpy hero with a hidden past and a heroine that is cute, fun, and slightly clumsy and I’m in heaven!
Amy Daws then took it to a whole new level. She made me cry! I don’t mean I just teared up. I had to grab the tissues because the tears just kept falling down my cheeks.
I instantly connected with these characters. Lynsey took a page from her friend, Kate, and used the hospital cafeteria to do her work. Unknowingly, she attracts attention from the ER doctor, Josh aka Dr. Dick.
The push and pull between Lynsey and Dr. Dick – I mean Josh – was EVERYTHING! It wasn’t an instant connection or an easy path for them, but the path the author gave them is what made this a five star read for me!
Even though this is book three of her Wait With Me series, it can EASILY stand on it’s own two feet. Although, if you haven’t read Wait With Me, I highly suggest it because Kate and Miles were fun to read and since Kate and Lynsey are best friends, the couple makes several appearances in One Moment Please.
If you want a fun, hot romantic comedy with a tender side, I highly suggest this book!
Let me tell you Amy Daws writes some of the best meet cutes.
Lynsey and Josh and their tension bleeds off the page from their enemies to lovers beginning to their reluctance to love all while making you laugh at their antics.
This book get 5 delicious slices of French silk pie from me!!!
