That awkward moment when an ER doctor has to inform you that you’re pregnant…with his baby.Three things Lynsey Jones knows about the hot doctor: he’s grouchy, an arrogant jerk, and strangely obsessed with pie.Three things Dr. Dick knows: he doesn’t talk about his past, he doesn’t do relationships, and the crazy girl in the hospital cafeteria who ate a fistful of French silk pie…is annoyingly … pie…is annoyingly irresistible.
After a chance meetup at a bar and a heated cab ride together, things come to a head and now instead of hating each other, they’re horizontal in a bed.
Three months later, the weird cafeteria stalker who crept out of Dr. Dick’s house like a thief in the night, winds up as his patient in the ER after her Tinder date from hell.
Dr. Dick is prepared to keep it cool and professional. That is until her bloodwork reveals that she’s pregnant.
What really throws him for a loop…is that the surprise baby…is his.

I can’t even tell you how much you want to read this one!! Dr. Dick & Lynsey are just what the Dr ordered!!
I f’ing love this book!! I can’t even find the words to explain it. Seriously. Just read it. Lynsey is hilarious. She is stubborn. Determined to be independent. Feisty. Fiery. Will not be kept down. She tries so hard to see the silver lining.
And then there’s Dr. Dick. Ok. Dr Josh Richardson. A highly uptight very competent ER doc who has been glaring at Lynsey for weeks while she writes her thesis in the hospital cafeteria. And they may have had a french silk pie run in which involved her pie and his crotch. And there may have been a booze fueled night out where they ended up taking an Uber to his place …and well,…that’s what led to the surprise pregnancy.
They’re like oil and water to start but they eventually start to mix and become friends…then lovers…then annoyed with each other again…Josh has some big issues to deal with.
But it’s so good. So very very very very very very very very good. To infinity!!
I really don’t know how Amy does it but she has topped herself again. It is hilarious, heartwarming, heartbreaking, and simply absotively posolutly fantabulous!!
Funny, sexy and so delicious Josh will have you fanning yourself. The broken man who hides behind his grief will have love and hate him at times.
Lysney and Josh are the complete opposite but they always say opposites attract. They find themselves in a predicament that us them finding themselves as a couple.
I loved this cute story about, loss, love and one night stands. Even with a heavy topic Amy still finds a way for you to love every word she has written. She finds the cuteness in a way that has you crying tears of sadness and tears of joy.
I was captivated from the start and I didn’t want it to end. Another book boyfriend that had me engulfed in his alpha-ness. Amy Daws men have a way of pulling you in no matter how grumpy they are.
A hot read that will keep you loving and hating Dr. Dick all the way through.
One Moment Please will have you experiencing a full gamut of emotions. It had me laughing, crying, sighing, and holding my breath in every chapter. It’s a book that will touch you deeply and resonate with you long after you’ve finished.
Amy Daws is a natural comedic and there is so much witty banter between her two leading characters, Lynsey Jones, a child psychologist, and Dr. Josh Richardson, an ER doctor with a mysterious past, also known as “Dr. Dick.” While this book is a stand-alone, well-loved characters Miles Hudson and Kate Smith from Wait With Me, and Miles’ younger sister, Maggie, and his best friend, Sam, from Next In Line, are regularly featured, as well as new supporting characters whom I loved getting to know.
They first meet when Lynsey starts frequenting the hospital cafeteria (she’s a girl after my own heart and loves their chocolate pie) and turns his organized, routine world upside down. They then go from enemies to lovers, to barely friends, back to lovers, to becoming estranged, then finding their own HEA.
It’s no secret because the overview and teaser ads lets readers know that Lynsey gets accidently pregnant by the very aloof and gruff Josh, who is also quite a looker. People often behave as a direct result of something traumatic that happened to them, and chapter by chapter, we learn more about the silent pain and guilt this brilliant doctor carries each day.
He’s curt, alpha, and over protective for a reason and I just love how he beguiled he is with our heroine. She’s true to herself and such a spitfire, and he tries so hard to keep her physically close but emotionally distant. He’s leading a double life, putting his old life behind him, and vows to never risk his heart again. But it’s not what you may think and I don’t want to give any spoilers away…you need to read this! There are many sweet surprises in this book and you will come to learn what happened in Baltimore to cripple this once magnanimous man. That is where all the crying comes in.
Lynsey is someone I would want to be friends with in real life. We meet her just as she is finishing her master’s degree and is looking for a job. She’s so real and down to earth, and has such an upbeat outgoing personality. I love how positive and hopeful she is, and how she can laugh at herself. She’s smart, funny, and clumsy, and is as good-hearted as she is beautiful.
She takes a chance with Josh, who doesn’t take no for an answer very easily, and these two try to work on their non-relationship relationship while preparing for the birth of their child. And let me tell you while they may have problems with his lack of communication, there are no problems in the bedroom, at all! Super steamy with a bit of kink tossed in, these two have electric chemistry and passion, especially with all her pregnancy hormones kicking in.
Josh is someone who is rough on the outside, but tender and sweet on the inside. Little by little you come to understand him and it’s so frustrating for our sweet heroine who is a trained psychologist when he refuses to open up. But when he does, the tears come down and it’s so beautiful to read. I admire how she deals with the tough decisions she has to make regarding her own happiness and self-worth, and how honest she is with her feelings.
Have faith in this book and trust the journey because Amy Daws will not let you down! Not even a little bit. This book is everything I hoped for and more. It’s a comedy, a drama, and a romance all wrapped into one heartfelt tale of courage and growth, patience and trust, tender melancholy, and wild abandonment. I loved it!
affectionately called Dr D–k. I know that most of the stories you connect with the heroine and the story is really about her struggles, but for me it was really Josh, Dr Jerk that made the book for me. His struggles, his attitude his heart. The growth he goes through with Lynsey makes this whole book one of my good for the year! Being confined to my house has made me appreciate the little things and this book hit me hard. Lynsey’s growth in this book is uplifting. Finding and growing into the person she is meant to be was inspiring. Love comes unexpectedly, what started out as a rude encounter turns into one of the most passionate love affairs I have read in a while. This is an iconic read that is in my top five for 2020.
One Moment Please is Book 3 in the Wait With Me series. It is a standalone, but previous knowledge of the characters and their background heightened my enjoyment of the story.
OMP had me alternating between cringing, laughing, and crying. I couldn’t put it down, but for the first half of the book, I felt it was a solid 4 stars. At 83%, I devoured all the words and that rating hit a solid 5 stars for me.
While One Moment Please contains Amy’s signature wit and humor, and has a number of hilarious scenes, it wasn’t as funny as the first two books in the series. And I think a lot of that had to do with Josh, aka Dr. D$@%. He is clinical, arrogant, grouchy, and a little bit of an a-hole.
It is obvious he is hiding something, and as his story began to unfold, I knew it would be bad. I just didn’t realize how heartbreaking it would be.
Lynsey is full of life. She is funny, obsessed with charcuterie, a little bit clumsy, and maybe just a little bit crazy. Most importantly, she has a big, loving heart.
A one night stand leaves Josh and Lynsey with a lot more than either one of them bargained for. On the surface, these two couldn’t be more different. But as they spend more time together, they just make sense. Even if they refuse to see it.
My heart hurt for Josh. For his past, for his grief, for his present. I can’t imagine getting so trapped in the darkness that you truly believe you aren’t worth forgiveness or hope. To punish yourself in such a way that you become detached from life and feeling. It was the brief glimpses of his vulnerability and heart that gave me hope that he was worth fighting for.
OMP is another hit from Amy Daws, and I highly recommend it.
Amy Daws has brought us another great tale. Her writing is flawless as always and she has this magic way of enticing you in and holding your attention from beginning to end.
I totally loved their lust/hate relationship they have from their first official encounter in the hospital cafeteria. Their connection is off the charts hot and ready to burn the building everything down.
Josh, aka Dr Dick, is seriously hot with a**hole, brooding persona. He is totally fixated on his job and not looking for a relationship. Well that is until he meets Lynsey, she brings chaos to his world and flips it upside down but she always makes him start to live again.
As always Amy you have done an amazing job with this one! I absolutely loved it!
Lynsey is so excited that she has finally finished her thesis that she decides this calls for a celebration but the grumpy doctor puts a thorn in her side when he makes her feel bad for being in the hospital cafeteria eating her pie. When they run into each other at the bar that same night Lynsey has enough of “Dr. Dick” and decides to leave. Josh insists on taking the Uber with her and things get heated during the car ride. Three months later when Lynsey shows up in his ER after a disastrous date, they both get the shocks of their lives. They are having a baby!
Laughs, banter and sexual tension. What more can you ask for from an enemies to lovers novel? I found myself laughing out loud quite often while reading One Moment Please and I needed a good laugh right now. Josh and Lynsey’s banter had me in stitches at times, their ability to help each other and the anticipation of the little bundle of joy made this a heartwarming story. One Moment Please is the first novel that I read from Amy Daws and it will not be the last as I enjoyed her writing style. One Moment Please is a surprise pregnancy, enemies to lovers romantic comedy which is written in the first-person point of view that can be read as a stand-alone or as the third novel in the Wait With Me series.
*ARC was generously provided in exchange for my honest review*
OMG was this book good! I have been waiting on this one for a bit and actually took a break from reading the long list of ARC’s I have for this month to fit this one in and boy am I glad I did. First of all who doesn’t love an accidental baby book? I know I do. So right there I knew this would be one I would have to read. I thought it would be the standard but I was shocked by how original the story was, even with it being a very popular trope. I absolutely adored everything about Lynsey. She was the perfect mix of awkward and cute. Josh was the wounded grumpy hot doctor but oh man once you got to know him you can’t help but love him and your heart breaks for him. He is so adorably protective of Lynsey and their baby. This book was an unexpected delight and the HEA is perfection.
Lord this book will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. I love how possessive and caveman Josh is. But he is so closed off and doesn’t want any type of relationship at all. But the more he is with Lydsey the more he let’s go of himself just a bit. Imagine Lydsey surprise when she ends up in the er and finds out she is pregnant with her one night stand who happens to be the cranky er doctor. Who has the crazy idea he needs to take responsibility of them but doesn’t want more but she is looking for more. As they get to know each other she falls in love and he pushes her away. When I found out his entire secret i broke down and cried. I hate having that many feels reading a book!!! But it’s also therapeutic in a way. I loved getting to know these to characters and laughing and crying with them. And can’t wait to read other books getting to know the other characters in this book!!! I highly recommend it!!!

I got this off of KU and I will be buying as soon as I see what state my book budget will be for the month. It was funny, heart breaking, and what is amazing is the millennial voice that shines in the background. I don’t see the way how I talk to my friends and family often echoed in a lot of romances, even the contemporaries so I giggled and showed my 18 year old and she literally rolled her eyes, shook her head, and said “wtf”. Apparently Gen Z doesn’t tell their bffs to pull up their monstrous mama bear, hairy lady balls and go kick butt. Totally missing out!
My favorite Amy Daws, hands down. This has the perfect blend of humor and heart for me and it made me feel all sorts of things while reading it. I recommend this book constantly and I think it’s a great place to start with Amy.
4 “Surprise!” Stars
Josh and Lynsey had me laughing so much! This couple starts off with lots of antagonizing and an intense underlying lust for each other, but their relationship changes abruptly when they discover Lynsey’s pregnant from their one night stand. Josh is dedicated to his job as a doctor and a real jerk at times, hence the nickname “Dr. Dick”, lol! Lynsey is his complete opposite, but there’s just this undeniable chemistry between them they need to explore. It was so funny to watch their antics. As it’s the norm with Amy Daws, this story is packed with hilarious dialogues, sexy encounters and also touching moments too! One Moment Please was a really enjoyable read that’s for sure!
One Moment Please by Amy Daws was my introduction to her work. Yeah, I’ve seen her on FB, Insta, and Book-Tok even follow the crazy lady who’s known for setting up shop in a tire store, no judgment, where ever you can get the job done! As far as accidental pregnancy stories go, this one is right up there, and it might even be my #1 favorite. Now I have to catch up reading her other books in this series, and I might even check out her Harris Brothers series. Great story; I laughed out loud, almost peed myself.
Josh and Lynsey hate each other but after a one night stand they are thrown together with an accidental pregnancy. This book was funny, sexy and emotional and definitely worth a read/ listen. Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton’s narration was amazing. Looking forward to the next on in the series.
Hot, witty, enemies turned lovers. Yep, I’m so there. All of the FEELS with this one! I absolutely LOVED this romance – the witty snark, the heat, and the emotions they experienced. This book hooked me from the get go and I couldn’t put it down. I loved this one. It had me laughing, crying, mad, and swooning. Sometimes all at the same time. Erin Mallon & Teddy Hamilton are fabulous narrators and voice artists. They do an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions, attitude and personality.
I had been looking for a surprise baby story for a while and I didn’t want to have to read a whole series just for the one book. I found One Moment Please and saw that it was number three in a series, but thought WTH I will give it a try. I was so happy that I didn’t have to read the others to enjoy Josh and Lyndsey’s story. This story is 100% standalone, but you can always go back and read the other ones if you want.
Josh (Dr. Dick) has a history of hurt and mistakes that he wants no one to know about, and the best way to do that is to keep to himself. He decides to make no friends and to keep his personal relationships strictly one night stands. But Lyndsey is so different he has to get to know her.
Lyndsey is getting her masters and likes to write in the cafeteria of the hospital. Usually everyone leaves her alone, but Dr. Josh (Dick) decides to make his presents known and these two do not hit it off at all. The back and forth between these two will keep you laughing through out the whole book.
When their one night stand turns into a baby- which they find out together in an unlikely way, their relationship is unlike anything I have read about in a long time. I enjoyed reading about their growth and what Josh went through for him to become the hardas$ that he is.
I would highly recommend this book and Amy Daws if you are looking for a great story!
One Moment Please has everything that I have come to expect from Amy Daws and the Wait with Me series, great characters, witty banter and an entertaining storyline. Josh and Lindsey may have started on the wrong foot but one hot, steamy night changes everything for both of them. It was so much fun reading this story as these two characters worked on finding some common ground but in the end found that they really were perfect for each other.
I had the added benefit of listening to the audio version of this story and the narrators definitely added to my enjoyment of this book.
Sometimes I just need a light-hearted stand-alone romcom, and this one hit the mark. It is apart of a character series, but can be read on its own (which is what I did).
It was a fun, easy read with some surprises and emotions packed in as well. The inner dialogue and back and forth banter between the two main characters is hilarious!
Lynsey uses the hospital cafeteria to write her college thesis. On the day she finishes it, a smug doctor sits down and berates her for using a hospital to ‘hang out’ at. She brushes him off & leaves. To celebrate finishing her thesis, she goes out to drinks & you’ll never guess who she sees… yep, Dr. Dick. What’s one night stand going to hurt?
I am a hysterical sobbing mess at the end of this book. Oh my god, Amy. You have gutted me and put me back together. Lynsey and Josh are amazing. I love a sunshine and grumpy troupe and this one did not disappoint. Lynsey had me cracking me up and Josh was delightfully grumpy.
Teddy. Oh my goodness. Absolutely amazing. He was the perfect Josh. Teddy has such a wonderful range of being fun to a grumpy and gruff. And I’m a huge Erin Mallon fan girl and love listening to everything she narrates. Teddy and Erin are PB&J narrators for me. Perfect together.
