This book really kept the reader interested and turning pages. I highly recommend it
I so enjoyed this story. My favorite type of story … from page one to the end it was hard to put down. From all that was going on in the story i liked the ending. Read this strong i believe you will enjoy it also.
Interesting story and characters.
A newly minted FBI agent solves a difficult case. Murders on the Appalachian Trail
I loved it
Great book, couldn’t put it down. Look forward to reading more of this series.
A new FBI agent faces her first case together with a very experienced agent and that only adds to her self doubt regarding her capability of getting things done and leaving her personal issues at bay without interfering with her work. The plot is simple, however, the crimes as very difficult to solve. They cause despair, curiosity, and heartbreak, how the solution of the crimes is achieved and the culprit put behind bars in unexpected. Entertaining and easy to read!
When an incident with missing people on the Appalachian Train in New Hampshire is discovered, with local law enforcement calling on the FBI for assistance. A brand new female agent is paired with a long experienced male agent to head to New England. Additional people are missing, multiple suspects are found and then ruled out until two young sisters get away and help to fill in some missing info. Besides the suspense, the reader gets a glimpse into law enforcement along the trail and the FBI methods of interrogation and how they work with local police. Fast paced with surprise ending.
I enjoyed the debut of the young agent who had had such a traumatic beginning and how she was so brave to pursue her hunches.
Great thriller
Another one I just had to finish. Didn’t put it down until I was done. Enjoyed the characters and the story. Will be reading more of this author!
Language is bad.
The author shares what the main character is thinking all the time, very annoying. She is a new FBI agent assigned to her first case, she is paired with a veteran with an excellent record. Yet she does all the interviews and solves the case, so unrealistic.
Absolutely fantastic. Have to wait ages for the next one. Can’t wait
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
One Last Step begins with a woman running for her life and ultimately speared in her back by an arrow! If that’s not enough of a shock to quell your curious then I don’t what is.
Having read several novels based around the Appalachian trail, I did anticipate some oddities.
This story focuses on the northern part of the Appalachian Trail near Hanover, New Hampshire. In this first book of the Tara Mills series, an FBI investigation begins when several people go missing and eventually found dead strategically placed along the outskirts of the National Forest.
Tara Mills is a newbie FBI agent who gets paired up with veteran agent Warren. They both wondered how this unlikely match would work given Tara’s impulse to follow her intuition over protocol. The killer narrating part of the story helps give you insight into who might be capable of such horrendous behavior. Ultimately, Tara goes rouge which puts her in extreme danger. This story wraps up nicely but does set the stage for more adventures for this novice detective.
CLE ok fs is lol likes kos@was2014 or less
FBI Agent Tara Mills is one of the newest recruits and has a promising future ahead of her … maybe.
She’s partnered with FBI Agent Warren, a distinguished agent with a lot of years and experience behind him. They are sent to the Appalachian Trail, as hikers have gone missing from the area.
They find the crime scenes ,… but no bodies. Except for one. A young woman somehow escaped and made it to a local’s house … with two crossbow arrows stuck in her body. She didn’t survive. And this not the only missing bodies.
What’s even more challenging for Tara is her nightmares have started coming almost nightly. As a child she saw her mother murdered …and her father standing over her body. He is now is prison for life. This case is bringing those memories to the forefront from her … and could be damaging to her new found career.
Book Blurb: As more hikers go missing, and with her job on the line, Tara finds herself on a race against time as she combs through the forest’s trails. Peeling back each layer, she soon realizes that she is up against a true diabolical mastermind. And just when she thinks she has it all figured out, her instincts lead her to the most shocking truth of all.
This is a debut novel by this author. I’m really looking forward to reading more about the intriguing character of Tara Mills and her partner. She’s smart, she’s gutsy, and she’s not above going outside the lines when she knows she’s right. I enjoyed how the relationship developed between her and Warren .. he’s older, presumably wiser. There’s a lot she can learn from him … but that goes both ways.
Suspense starts from the very first page and doesn’t end until the explosive climatic conclusion. There are twists and turns and more than one suspect to watch. This is a fast read …. mainly because it’s hard to put down once started.
Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this crime fiction mystery. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
A good mystery has to have twists and turns, it needs to keep you guessing and it needs to pull you in. This book did all of these things! I was pulled in from the start, I kept having to second guess who I thought did it and it had me thinking and rethinking who what and why. The writing was easy to follow and flowed perfectly. The characters were well written and likable. Tara and Warren has such a great partner connection that only made the story better. As I was reading this book, in my mind it played out just like a movie. I could visualize it and place myself within the story. I’m so glad to see there is another 2 books that follow this story. I want to know what happens with Tara. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but it definitely won’t be my last!
I received an advanced copy for free in exchange for my honest review.
One Last Step by Sarah Sutton is the first book in a series following Tara Mills. Tara suffers from the loss of her mother while she was a child. She is a new FBI agent setting out on her first case with partner Warren. I enjoy the dynamic between the main characters and am excited to learn more about Tara’s mother’s murder. Excited to read One last Breath when it comes out!
