As Nicole’s debut book, I am impressed with One Last Chance! I was invested in the story, and wanted to know how it was all going to come together.
I related more to Tobias than Izzy. Izzy made me question whether I’m too much of a hopeless romantic. If I had a man like Tobias saying the things he did, I would be sold, and the book would have been over 3 chapters in. 😉
I really enjoyed the characters, and I’m excited for the books for Toby’s siblings coming up. Still, I would have loved to have a little more depth to the characters – why was Izzy so untrusting or maybe insecure?
I LOVED Izzy’s Granny. And I loved the references to some other authors’ characters (I won’t ruin it for you, but it was so fun!). There was a very Pippa-esque dream in there, too.
There was some repetitiveness in there where we could have had more substance (or just a shorter book), but I really did enjoy the story. I’ll definitely be reading Two Strangers when it releases.
*I received this book ahead of time and made no commitment to leave a review, favorable or otherwise.*
Izadora and Tobias we’re best friends and she feel in love with him and he did in his own way to they grew apart though highschool and reconnected in college. One misunderstanding ruined their flow together or did it???
Fast forward 10 years later izzy comes home after an attempt at marriage on leave from her job then she sees Tobias again and she still feels hurt from all the times he lets her down. Tobias comes in for his gramps funeral and sees Izzy and all he can think about is missing what was his. They slowly build back trust and Izzy backs out because she’s scared round 2 Tobias backs out to give himself space from izzy’s hot and cold game. Then they reconnect and fall back in love and as they say history repeats itself so Izzy runs off with out talking things out. Until they both release being with out the other is worse than the bad days they could have. Fast forward and they have the life they always dreamed of and more.
What an amazingly sweet story. I took a leap of faith with this book and I’d almost for got how nice small town romances are it was a sweet funny emotional book and I can’t wait for more of this small town. Can I just say Izzy and Tobias are like perfect names for that couple.
What a refreshing love story that has you wanting to throw the book or the kindle across the room it seems that Tobias and Lizzy can’t get their stuff together and work out their differences and Lizzy can’t let go of the past and trust Tobias enough to let her feelings show or to talk through their issues.
However this is an amazing story and I really loved this love story and I am sure you will too.
I was blessed enough to read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. This book is a good mixture of several romance genres: friends to lovers, enemies to lovers with a big dash of second chance romance. The storyline is full of relationship twists and hot sexy romance. I am looking forward to Yes reading more books from this author.
This was a debut novel. The story was a great one. Girl loves boy. Boy too stupid to know that because they are young and in college. Girl sees boy do something stupid and misunderstands things she sees and hears so then she bails without another word to let boy explain…..
Like I said, great story. A few problems that I had: Izzy was quite annoying at times. Mostly in her refusal to communicate. I understand why she bailed when she was 19, but her refusal to confront Tobias when they are almost 30 is quite disappointing because it really makes it seem like she did absolutely no maturing in the last 10 years. Tobias was a contradicting character. He sometimes acted like he was a total alpha male, but at other times was a total pushover. He was constantly telling the women (yes plural, because his sister played a part too) in his life that they needed to talk to him and then at the first argument from them he would totally back off. Then there are the totally adolescent remarks that he made quite often, which again had me feeling like he didn’t mature much in the 10 years. I wanted to make better connections with them, but I just couldn’t.
I chalk all this up to Nicole being a very new writer. I think that she had some great ideas. Toward the end I think I can see where she was going with her next couple. I like the direction that seemed to be going. So I absolutely look forward to reading her next book.
Absolutely loved Tobias and Izzys amazing intense emotional beautiful love story grabbed my heart and Squeezed so read for more
Really enjoyed this debut book by Nicole. I loved Tobias and Izzy and their story from when they were younger till now. Though I did want to give Izzy a shake! I wouldn’t be running away from Toby. Izzy’s Gran was hysterical, but glad she isn’t my Gran as she would embarrass the life out of me. Really looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.
