Go West, young man! In a young country where men went West to seek their fortunes, there was something important that most of them forgot to bring: women!Successful, respectable men seek twenty-two healthy, proper, unmarried young ladies to relocate to the booming town of Last Chance, in Washington Territory. Purpose: Matrimony. Safe passage and all expenses paid.Four visionary men who long for … long for land instead of gold go further north–into the Washington Territory–and found the boom town of Last Chance. The town needs the civilizing influence of proper women in order to grow and prosper.
Together, these friends decide to bring 22 brides-to-be to Last Chance, for a small fee to the prospective grooms. It’s going to be a long process: the advertisement, choosing the women, and sailing around the Horn with them back to Last Chance.
– Logan owns the lumber mill. He’s only interested in one woman, the one he foolishly left behind in New Orleans, a week before their wedding, some years ago.
– Cole, the ambitious second son of an earl, runs ships that carry the lumber and other goods. He’s focused on his business and he’s filthy rich.
– Joshua builds things and wants to build more. He’s only interested in soiled doves, and no commitment.
– Garrett is the salt of the earth, the hardest-working foreman they have ever known. He wants a bride, but doesn’t know how he can even afford one.
As One Last Chance (Last Chance Brides #1) opens, no one is more surprised than Logan when he comes face to face with Charlotte, the woman he jilted years before. He’s shocked, shocked that she has answered the advertisement. And she’s devastated to come face to face with the man who wrecked her life, and especially under these embarrassing circumstances.
Charlotte wants to escape the aftermath of the war-ravaged South and insists that she wants to find herself a husband in the Washington Territory. She’s certain she doesn’t want to marry Logan because, after all, he left her to survive the war on her own! Logan has a long voyage in which to try to convince Charlotte he’s not the same guy who broke her heart. Of course, some of the other women are interested in Logan, too.

01/01/2021 I just finished reading “One Last Chance” (nook) and I am ready for the next story. Logan and Charlotte had known each other since they were children. He left a week before their wedding and she was heartbroken. When they reunite, years later, it is a struggle to forgive and to realize that they still love each other. A sweet romance with a HEA.
SIGH WORTHY
ONE LAST CHANCE is the first book in the Last Chance Brides series. Though each book will follow one couple, it is best if you read this series in the order of release, especially this first book since it establishes the town and the scenario.
One of my favorite tropes – a second chance at love – set in the reconstruction after the Civil War.
Josh and Logan have advertised for twenty-two women to be mail-order brides for their new town in the Washington Territory. Logan doesn’t want one of the twenty-two, he has chosen New Orleans for their advertising and interviewing so that he can pursue bride number twenty-three, his former fiancé.
I loved this story. There is the perfect blend of righteous anger on the behalf of Charlotte, groveling from Logan, and swoon-worthy and sigh-inducing proof that he is sincere. I love his persistence, but also his chivalry.
This is the first book that I have read from Diana Bold, but I am looking forward to reading more. Based on this book, I love her style.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

A wonderful story with one of my favorite tropes, mail order brides but this on also includes a second chance at love. Logan and Charlotte were in love and about to be married when he deserts her one week before the event.
Years later Logan and three of his friends set up a mail order bride service, they set out to Louisiana to bring the ladies back to a new town in the Washington Territory. Then he sees Charlotte and knows he has to get her back but a lot has happened since he left. Can these two find love again? Heartwarming and sigh worthy. Loved it!
This is my first time reading something by this author. This was an entertaining and enjoyable read. It’s a story with a second chance romance. Logan was supposed to marry Charlotte years ago but jilted her and left New Orleans. He comes back eight years later and wants Charlotte back, but she can’t trust him now. The two must work through a lot to find their way back to each other. The story was well-written and flowed nicely. The plot was interesting and had some plot twists and turns that made this an interesting and intriguing story. The characters were strong and well-developed. Ms. Bold did a nice job of bringing this story to life with her vivid descriptions and well-developed scenes. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more by this author.

Second chance. Logan proposed to Charlotte, his best friend and the love of his life, but a year later the week before the wedding he jilted her and left. Eight years later he has made a name for himself out west and is with one of his friends, going back to New Orleans to bring brides back to the town they have founded. But he only has one bride on his mind. He wants Charlotte back. But Charlotte is no longer the innocent, pampered daughter, and best friend he remembers. What she endured after the war has changed her and she can’t ever trust Logan again. Not after what he did. But can his persistence and attempts to show her he has changed change her heart or is she immune to him now? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
Different stories for the Last Chance Brides and the story I am reviewing is One Last Chance. A well written second chance story for Charlotte and Logan, he had left he at the altar. I enjoyed reading this story. This is a set of stories dealing with Logan, Cole, Joshua, Garrett and the women who come into their lifes.
Loved this wonderful book with Logan who is one of the men that settled Last Chance in the Washington. When there are so many men but no women he and another man go to New Orleans to find mail order brides. When Charlotte walks into the office for a interview he is shocked to see the beautiful woman he left at the alter years ago and has regretted every day. He wants her to be his bride but she is not having it because she was so hurt and thinks she could never trust him. When he risk his life to save her she realizes how much he loves her and she still loves him. I was hooked from the first page and could not put this down.
