Oh, that was so much fun!
Well written, lots going on, but not so much you got lost in the shuffle.
The characters were well written and the story flowed well. I loved seeing the characters introduced in the prequel, but wouldn’t have been lost without having read it.
I really enjoyed this second-chance love story, and the characters of Daniel and Emme. Secrets, lies, drama, misunderstanding, romance, and love abound in this story. The MC’s were betrothed once until rumors and family wrenched them apart. When they meet again, they resist the attraction they still feel for each other. Will love find a way to bring them back together? Great story with good writing.

One Kiss From Ruin is book two in The Harrow’s Finest Five series by Nancy Yeager. This book is magnificent! I couldn’t put it down. Yeager does a brilliant job developing her characters and then breathing life into them. They are each complex beings who respond to hardship and trial in believable ways. This is a second chance romance with twists and turns that I couldn’t predict. Daniel Hallsworth is sailing back to England to clear his sullied name so he can claim the Marquessate of Edensbridge. When he finds that his old lover is on board his ship, he realizes he isn’t over the heartbreak of her rejection. But what’s a man to do when he discovers that she may still have feelings for him? “She pushed the door closed behind her and leaned against it, watching him as his weighted gaze perused every inch of her body, arousing her as if with his touch. They stared at each other, their breathing heavy, perfectly synchronized, lade with expectation. He didn’t move a muscle Just waited. Heat radiated off his body and made the blood sing in her veins. She leaned forward, straining on her tiptoes to get close to his ear. “Daniel, I find myself in desperate need of your kiss.” I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
I instantly fell in love with Daniel and Emme. This is the second book in the series and I’ve read them all. Both Daniel and Emme are clearly drawn to each other, but they have so much to put past them in order to be together, and when they finally do, it’s bliss! I couldn’t put this book down!
I finished it. Not a favorite. The girl Emme was kind of fickle and Daniel did not impress me either. Lots of drama. Emme’s father was disappointing also.
A second chance romance that has all the ingredients of misunderstandings, broken hearts, anger and finally coming back together after five years. Daniel Hallsworth, was set to claim his title of Marquess of Edensbridge after being pushed out of England with claims he was illegitimate and not a true Hallsworth. Now with his uncle dead and hopefully never being able to present proof he was to go before The Committee for Privileges and show he was fit to for the title. He could only present himself as a paragon of virtue. Before he put himself in exhile, he had fallen in love with Lady Emme Radcliffe who had seemingly given into pressure from her father and the rumors and pushed him away.
After losing Daniel, Emme had pulled away from society and stared spinsterhood in the face. She had a secret that would destroy her family and when Daniel returns offering her marriage again, she knows she cannot except. She sets out to find him a lady he can make a proper match with of course, the desire between them is still there.
Loved this story and look forward to more in this series by this talented writer!
I’ll try be short and not spoiler this. This is a second chance/reunited sweethearts after 5 years forcibly separated apart. In those years event played into their life and little did they know their journey back to England from Spain will have their buried feelings and emotions coming to the surface. But will they get their HEA or will titles and a unloving parent stop them from their hearts truth or will their own cause tears and heartache???
Daniel thought that Emme abandoned him over a family scandal and Emme thinks he cheated on her with someone else. He flees England and she finds herself ruined by a scoundrel thinking if she can’t marry Daniel she won’t marry anyone else. She is determined to be a spinster and be involved in charity. Her brother and mother accept this, but her father won’t let her. After he finds out what she did, he’d rather marry her off and cast her from the family than allow her to be happy. Daniel wants Emme, but she pushes him away with the understanding that he has to be respectable and above reproach to earn his title back and she is afraid she can’t escape the scandal of her past. I didn’t like how Daniel’s friend Captain Lord Grainville was trying to set her up as his mistress when he thought she was a governess on his ship. I thought that was pretty low of him to try to take advantage on an impoverished woman. There was plenty of back and forth and romantic tension in this historical second chance romance. I liked Emme and Daniel’s friends and hope they have their own romances.
The start of a new series called Harrow’s Finest Five a well-written book that held my interest from the first page. This is Lady Emme Radcliffe and Mr. Daniel Hallsworth’s story and I found myself smiling at things that happen. I want to read the next book in the series. I recommend this book. This was my first book by Nancy Yeager. I read it in one afternoon once I started I couldn’t put it down.
I’m a fan of second chance romances and this one did not disappoint. My only complaint I would have liked
for her father to have shown some remorse for the way he acted. Wonderful read. I’ll be looking for more
from this author.
