SO CONSUMING, SO RAW, SO DARK, SO INTENSE, SO GRITTY, SOOOOOO EPIC!! – Kitty Kats Crazy About Books
Meadow
I was four years old when I learnt what evilness the world could bring. I fought through life with my scarred soul, wrangled through the dark empty nights where I’d pray I didn’t wake up the next morning. I would shut my eyes and mentally take myself to my happy place.
Red roses
The sound of … happy place.
Red roses
The sound of waves crashing on the sand under my feet.
The final time the cold blade pushed up against my thigh, and I waited for my blood to trickle over the other One hundred and thirty-six scars that covered my skin— never came. Who was this man who just saved me? He had no idea how close I came to ending myself that day. I was ready to blow my brains all over the bedroom walls and I had a nine sitting under my pillow to prove it.
Beast
Some people have families, I had engineered human killing machines surrounding me my whole life. I’d been a part of this unit since I was a baby, raised in a community that was shut off from the real world. A community where we were nothing but empty vessels, until Hella (my best friend) and I escaped. Hella took us to a girl who was in foster care with him before he was summoned into The Army. After finding out yet another complication in my life, I needed space. I booked in to a run down apartment, ready to clear my head. Only my head didn’t clear, because I was haunted every night from the screams that would vibrate through my walls.
This is not a story of a perfect man coming in to save the day. This is a story of what happens when fate interferes and two completely broken souls collide.
Potential triggers lie within this book.
* This book is gritty and contains dark content.

This book wasn’t as dark as the other books i have read by Amo but it was something else. There are some triggers in this book and what Meadow went through was freaking terrible. She is a strong heroine and so very sweet to the ones she trust. Beast bless his crazy heart. He was brought up in a world where basically they turn him into a machine not a human but he got away with his best friends. I loved that he ended up in a MC and I can’t wait to read about the other characters especially Hella( yall he is crazy). All in all this was a good read and great start to a series.
If you love MC and crave a different but absolutely amazing storyline THEN THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU! Its AMAZING!
Before I even got into this I read the warning and knew I would love this ‘not suitable for under 18 or those who do not enjoy sexy, twisted relationships’ DAY.MADE!
Beast and Meadow have had the most awful lives…and one fateful day brings them together for a few short minutes…..but that’s enough not to forget each other.
Years later, Beast is an MC Prez and Meadow is getting on with her life….they collide again.
Beast ‘I’d ruin her and I’d enjoy it’. Yes bloody please Beast!!!!
What happens when 2 completely broken people want to make a go of it?
This is all the components of a great MC book, with a twist.. the side characters are all interesting in their own ways and will have you screaming out for their stories!
I honestly don’t know where the heck I’ve been all this time that I never knew this f*cking series existed til Caro sent it to me. But holy crap is this book soul consuming. The f*cking blurb got me right away, the first page destroyed me and the whole book annihilated me. I don’t even know where to begin. I just finished the Sinful Soul MC series and I thought it couldn’t get better. But once again, Amo has created another pair of perfect, alpha bikers that do wonderful things to my libido and sassy, bad-ass heroines, equal to their bikers in every way. Beast had me shivering all over the damn place in pleasure, because holy shitake mushrooms was that man sexy as f*ck. They don’t call him Beast for nothing, if you catch my drift. I just wanted to reach through the screen and rub myself all over him, I’m not ashamed to admit there would have been some dry-humping haha. Beast and Meadow were perfect. I swear, every pair just gets better and better and when I think it can’t, IT BLOODY WELL DOES. Amazing book!
4.5 stars!!
This is book one of “The Devil’s Own” series and I believe can be read as a stand alone. With that said I am excited to read more from this series.
Wow! This book is so good. My heart ached so much for so many people in this book. But by the end it was so full. They all become this big dysfunctional family.
The very first chapter had me hooked. Beast is incredible. He is everything. The way the author describes him, omg I have a very clear image of him. That image is hot as sin. I am head over heels! The strength he possesses, and not just his incredible physical strength but mental. Then we meet the beauty, Meadow and once again this lady is one hell of a survivor. She is one of THE strongest female characters to date. These two together make me hot!! The hallway incident back at Meadow’s apartment… HOLY SHIT. I melted. That was like the fires of hell hot. Yes please!!
The only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars is because to be honest I felt the hard stuff was just skipped over and then summarized to us. It felt un-realistic. How fast the two of them got together was another thing. The rest fantastic!! Also, I have a feeling these characters were from other books because I kept feeling like I was missing something.
The end, was like driving a fucking knife in my heart. Amo tends to fuck me up at least once in each book. Damn her. I can’t stop thinking about this book!!
I’ve only read a few books by this author but each one is very easy to get lost in. I love Beast. Complex character! The human in the inhuman. He is a red-blooded man, a beast in size and a killer with little memory of each. The one kill he remembers clearly relates to the young girl he heard crying over and over. He saved her but she still haunts him.
Meadow remembers the beast of a man who saved her and did her bidding. She’s suffered so much but in saving her, he gave her a chance at a brighter future. She hasn’t fully recovered but she’s getting there. She has great friends and a job she loves.
And then fate steps in and he’s there. Beast. The young girl is a grown woman who steals his breath and heart. Healing can begin for them both.
The ending?! Say what?!?!?!
The story line was good, the character work was terrific, but the book did not have the best flow to it. While I enjoyed the book and liked the fact that there was none of the denial of feelings for each other with Beast and Meadow (just with Melissa and Hella). There were spelling and grammatical errors as well as a complete disregard of learning and using local dialect for the areas that the characters are from and currently live. I understand that the author is not American, but if you are going to write a book based in the USA, with American characters you really need to take the time to learn the local vernacular. There are many different slang words and different sayings for each region of the US.
Five star review
Book one hundred and thirty six scars was everything what I love in Mc suspense romantic with a pinch of darkness stories.
It’s like being in my reading heaven with amazing characters.
Whole plot in the story had me hooked so hard to the book and woke up so many different emotions that I couldn’t put it down and read it within one day.
Beast and Meadow have their own story in The Devil’s Own series. It’s just the beginning of the series but you can read it as a standalone.
Both heroes are so broken inside, each of them has their own tragic story but together they’re pure fire. The chemistry was out of the charts between them. Fate placed them on the same life path and bonded them together with the invisible connection.
There were many scenes where my heart skipped or melted a little and I could imagine it perfectly because of Amo’s beautiful words and descriptions. It was very enthralling and captivating. Fast pace in action and added suspense caused that there was no way that I could be bored with this story. Every chapter and even every page gives a strong meaning to the story.
Amo Jones never disappoints me with any of her books and I regret that I’ve waited so long to read this one.
This was a really good read! I loved all the characters and can’t wait to read more about them!
I have just had one of those moments of why did I wait so god dam long lol. I have followed the beautiful Amo Jones on social media for a while now and I am only just picking up her book now and I really want to slap myself cause it took me so long, but I am so glad I did.
I felt like something a bit darker and not fluffy well did I get that and more from one hundred and sixty scars. I was hooked from the first chapter and wanted to know everything.
I loved Meadow and really loved her character what she had to endure and come out the other side. Reading through the pages and seeing her coming to life made the bgooks beautiful in a way and it felt like you were there just cheering her on I loved it. She got stronger and stronger throughout the book and it was amazing to grow with her through the book.
Beast, well he was such a badass and alpha male and I loved his instant connection with Meadow. I loved how he helped Meadow and it showed that even though he was scarred and he didn’t believe he could feel anything, we were proven that he did have a heart and even what he went through he still could love Meadow.
I’m loving the Mc books at the moment and this series is at the top as one of my favs absolutely fantastic. This one had such a fantastic back story and it had me on the edge of my seat seeing how things played out, loved the writing loved the story just an absolutely fantastic book.
If you’re in the mood for suspense, mystery, sexy alpha makes, violence and one hell of a story then you read to read this.
5++++++++++++++ stars loved it
I’m relatively new to this author’s work and I’m catching up on her back titles. This book started off dark, corrupt and twisted telling of a world that doesn’t exist; everything I have come to expect from Amo. I loved the book and it held my interest until the end.
However, after the first 25% the only thing that really progressed was the relationship between Beast and Meadow… Until the last 10-15% when the plot started to build up again. The shocker I had already worked out except for the nice little twist at the end. Trademark Amo! It felt to me like the author was building a scenario for future books in the series, giving us characters that would eventually get to tell their own dark and twisted secrets.
Whilst told from a dual POV; the book was steady paced for the majority and it was great how the dark, raw and primitive fighter turned into the fierce protector, lover and guardian angel for Meadow whose strength of character just grew as the story progressed. The connection between these two was powerful, reconnecting after several years. Both broken from their past, they heal each other.
I’m looking forward to reading the other books in this series, especially Hella’s. Now he really need capture my interest.
I really liked this book. It starts strong and hooks you in straight away. Meadow is a strong likeable character, she’s had a really hard childhood, and just as she starts to lose hope, she’s rescued by a mysterious stranger. Beast is an absolute sweetheart. Living with his own darkness, he’s got a past that’s even worse than Meadows. When his past threatens to destroy his future, it’s all out war. With plenty of action, really likeable characters and a story that will keep you turning the pages, this is my first book by Amo Jones but it definitely wont be my last.
I never thought I would have been sucked into a story so bad, I’m happy about that it really helped me get out of my somewhat of a book funk. I was amazed by this story and loved everything about it. My first time reading anything by this author and it wont be my last that’s for damn sure. I loved how this story just unfolded right before my eyes, first time reading anything by this author she did an amazing job. The characters in this story are 100% amazing. I’ve never read a story this great. The names for these characters was another bonus of this story I really didn’t think 2 names go together as much as these 2 really do. As this story unfolds it’s a like magic has been released on the pages and really grabs you in. The story starts off different but in the end it just gets better and better with every page turn. I know I can’t wait to read more and more of this series and see what this author has in store for me. It’s one hell of a ride that is worth being on and one that I’m so very much happy I took. This unique 2 person POV was great and amazing all wrapped into one amazing story. MUST READ cover to cover it’s so worth the time and the words on the page. This is one story I didn’t get enough with and wanted more half way through.
