I’m absolutely in love with the Aspen Cove Series by master writer Kelly Collins. Beautifully written, romantic, and hopeful, with just the right touch of steam. Don’t miss this wonderful series!
Sage is a damn good nurse but she has a major case of Saviour complex. She hasn’t met a good cause she wouldn’t help/support/nurse or finance. But she hits an emotional rock-bottom after her favourite patient dies. She later learns that that same patient left her a B&B in a blink and you’ll miss it town. She only intends to travel to Aspen Cove and sell her inheritance before trying together salvage her career or move on.
Cannon will forever live in the shadow of his father, for all the wrong reasons. He runs the towns bar and is the son of the town drunk, not a great combination. He had long ago given up his dreams in favour of looking after his alcohol soaked father.
Very slow-paced romance but is actually quite a quick read! Our leading couple are very much frosty to one another to begin with but they are soon chipping off each others rough edges. Sage is very much an advice giver but she can’t take her own advice!
Whilst not a “Clean romance” it’s not a bed burner either. There are a few triggers some might need to know above: Alcoholism and Domestic Abuse.
A very enjoyable story with engaging characters. This small town is ideal. People help each other in many ways, from bartering for needs and help to all out donating what is needed out right.
After a rough beginning Cannon & Sage make a great couple. Sage’s personality didn’t jive with what was being portrayed all the time which led to some confusion and annoyance but evened out in the end.
Logan McAllister did a fabulous job portraying the the characters and narrating. I really hope the rest of the series will soon be available in Audible, preferably with Logan again as the voice of Aspen Cove.
I was given an Audible copy of this story, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.
I am so glad I gave this author a try. I loved this audiobook!
Sage Nichols, a geriatric nurse in Denver, is at a breaking point in her career. She gives her patient her all, but their deaths is taking a toll on her. When one of her dear patients dies, and she breaks down she is told to take a leave .
Little did she know , that when BEA, the sweet lady that had passed away, and left her a property in Aspen Cove, her life would change forever.
Cannon Bishop has had a lot to deal with since his mother’s passing, and left his Dad a shell of himself and an alcoholic. Little did his know that tiny new feisty neighbor would change his life and that of his father’s forever.
It’s a touching story about family, new beginnings, second chances in life, hope and love when you least expect it.
I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

One Hundred Reasons
An Aspen Cove Romance, Book 1
By: Kelly Collins
Narrated by: Logan McAllister
I loved this story, it is well written and grabbed my attention right from the start to the very end. The storylines and characters are interesting and well developed. It was easy to relate the characters, they were realistic and their stories were moving. I liked the two leads, Cannon and Sage, and he chemistry between them. Also like the small town setting, the vibe and sense of community. While we may not have gotten to know Bea, while she was alive it is nice to get to know who she was and what she had planned. Maybe one day we will get her whole story as well.
I listened to the Audible edition, Logan McAllister a wonderful narrator & storyteller. He performs all the voices and brings the characters to life from the pages to your ears. Thank you for the great listen.
I don’t quite know what to say. I loved this so much, but my brain refuses to cooperate with me and give me the processing capability to come up with more than: it’s so sweet, and so precious, and so a-freakin-dorable! I love reading small town books for the sense of community and family; a slice of classic Americana peopled with a cast of quirky characters that feel like your own relatives and friends. Be prepared for the full emotional roller-coaster, you’re about to be taken for a ride because there will be laughter, there will be tears, there will be “squee”s and there will be “awe”s. I loved watching Sage and Cannon grow past their first impressions and all the baggage they’re carrying. I can’t wait to read the rest of the stories from Aspen Cove.
“Change would come to Aspen Cove.” This lovely book set in a small town in Colorado is about love, life, and possibilities. This delightful read gives us a look at the slow, small town life where residents are charmingly in each others business, in the best way possible. I spent a lovely afternoon reading this adorable book, falling in love with the citizens and wishing I could go to my happy place of Colorado.
“There were three things Sage Nichols knew with absolute certainty: Death couldn’t be escaped. Mr. Right Now was never Mr. Right. Hell wasn’t fire and brimstone; it was a cold April day in Denver.” The plot of this story begins with a Denver geriatric nurse, Sage, who looses a patient and ends up with a life changing meeting and letter. Sage is a kind hearted, hard working nurse who needs a life change when one is handed to her. She has to roll with the changes and work with the options given her. Which she does with an amazing strength of character and inspiring attitude. Due to a pretty pink letter from a patient, she gets to travel to Aspen Cove, where residents take care of their own. “We don’t ignore need, turn away from danger, or neglect our citizens.”
Characters Sage doles out her “Sage Advice” to those she meets. Part common sense, part positive thinking, with an overwhelming need to help those around her, Sage struggles with the change from Denver to Aspen Cove. But she runs into local Cannon Bishop who has more than his share of woes and troubles to deal with, let alone an outsider. Sage’s helpful drive both frustrates and endears her to Cannon, while she wriggles her way into his life. I found both characters quite believable, with undeniably real and detailed back story that provides proper motivation for their actions.
The heat and chemistry in this book starts as opposites attracting. I liked how Sage and Cannon fought and interacted and came to work together before seeing if they would work together. Despite some hiccups, the bumps they encounter quickly turn from friendly to friendlier. 🙂 Their relationship has ups, downs, problems, trust, and lots of spice.
Ms. Collins gave us a book that was a fun, and easy to follow read. Her wording and writing style are entertaining and thoughtful. You are easily and quickly drawn into the community of Aspen Cove. With seemingly no effort, you are drawn into the lives of not only Sage and Cannon, but the other charming residents of Aspen Cove.
I’m so glad I was able to read this book. Aspen Cove sounds like my kind of place (Colorado makes my soul happy). The world needs more people like the residents of Aspen Cove. Helpful, in your business, ready to stand up for those they care for, and able to live in one of the world’s best location! I’m excited to read the rest of the series!

One Hundred Reasons is the first book in the Aspen Cove series and the first book by Kelly Collins that I have read. I really liked Sage, she was a geriatric nurse who after the death of her favorite patient needed a break. Bea, the patient, had left her a bed and breakfast in a small town. She went to Aspen Cove to check it out. This book was a sweet read and kept me reading with the romance between Sage and the local bar owner Cannon. I love a small town read and this was a good one. I can’t wait to read more about Aspen Cove.
This was first book by this author and I loved it. Reading more from her.
One Hundred Reasons is a heart-warming romance story that takes place in the small town of Aspen Cove. A place where: “Aspen Cove takes care of it’s own.”
Sage Nichols is a nurse in the Geriatric Dept. of a hospital. Sage is such a caring person that each of her elderly patients mean so much to her. Her favorite patient is an elderly lady named Bea. She suffers from serious heart problems. Sage frequently brings her stationary. This is so she can write her many letters to all the people she cares about in her hometown of Aspen Cove. Sage is so shocked one day when she enters Bea’s hospital room to find that she is gone. She has a melt down and is unable to finish her shift. As a result her boss places her on unpaid leave. Her crime was caring too much. Bea had cared for Sage, too. She actually left her a Bed & Breakfast Inn in Aspen Cove. Sage packs her car with a few belongings, along with her beloved three legged dog named Otis. She heads to Aspen Cove, never imaging that small town would make all her wishes come true. Including the man of her dreams would be one surly bar owner, that has a one-eyed cat named Mike, a cantankerous & alcoholic dad, and was her next door neighbor. The man’s name is Cannon Bishop. Cannon had no idea that big changes were on there way. Bea had known what she was doing by leading Sage to this small town.
This is the first book I have read by Kelly Collins. I really liked her writing and look forward to reading the next book in the series: ONE HUNDRED HEARTBEATS.
How many books are just sitting on your Kindle or bookshelf just waiting to be read? For me, there is way too many to count. While this book wasn’t nearly on my Kindle as long as a lot of others, it was there too long as far as I’m concerned. I am kicking myself for waiting so long to read this, even though, truthfully, it couldn’t be helped. This has been a tough year. Everything normal in my life has been altered, including my reading time. But I’m finally there, for now at least. After I read One Hundred Reasons not only did I find a new series to binge, I found a new author to love. Everything about this book spoke to all my literary desires. All the feels are present, some angst, some mystery and a town filled with loyal, caring, lovable characters. Even the flawed, cantankerous, characters found their way into my heart. This book made me smile; I was often sad and heartbroken as well. I had a memorable reading experience with this. In fact, right after I read the last page, I downloaded the next book in the series which I am already halfway through.
Aspen Cove appears at first glance, a sad town. Desolate, quiet, pitiful. Looks can often be deceiving and in this case they certainly were. I won’t go into any details because you need to experience this amazing story, amazing town and its residents all on your own. Because this book is the start of the series, it is packed with details, characters, a bit of mystery and the perfect introductions. I want to visit Aspen Cove; I want to live there.
While the one person who ties everything together isn’t actually there, you can feel her presence everywhere.
This is Sage and Cannon’s story. Sage is such a caring individual you couldn’t help but love her from the first pages. And while Cannon appears at first a big grump, there are good reasons for that. In my opinion, his character was the most vulnerable. His situation made my heart hurt. These two don’t get off to a good start but that changes quickly enough. Cannon is a hero you won’t soon forget. And he deserves everything good life can give him.
The next book in the series is about town newcomer Katie and Cannon’s brother Bowie who for good reasons, left town ten years earlier. And since I’m already halfway through it, I’ll tell you that that is another emotional story with the same loving small-town dynamic.
These books are stand-alones but I would recommend you start at the beginning to have the best experience.
You know when you read that book that speaks to your heart, connects you to the story in a way that the book is all you can think about for hours, days after you read it? Well, One Hundred Reasons is one of those books for me.
This is my honest and unbiased review and I that you for taking the tie to read it. 🙂
This is the first story in the Aspen Cove series and it was perfect weekend reading for me.
Sage works in the aged care ward at her local hospital, nursing elderly people who are at the end of their life. She used to work in maternity but when her mother was admitted to the aged care ward, years ago, she decided that spending as much time caring for her mother in the last months of her life was where she wanted to be.
Sage has a huge heart but a sensitive soul so each time she loses a patient she really feels the loss deeply. None more so than the recent loss of Bea. She is so affected that she is asked to take leave for a while. However, during the meeting with her boss she is given a letter written by Bea. Sage lives with her sister who also works at the same hospital as an ER doctor. They are like passing ships in the night as they work opposite shifts and don’t get to spend much time together. When Sage shares with her sister the content of Bea’s letter, she gets a firm but kind shove out the front door to fulfill Bea’s request.
Bea has left her B&B homestead at Aspen Cove to Sage. Initially Sage’s only intention is to visit the small town, pay her respects at Bea’s funeral and head back to her sister. However, the first 24 hours in Aspen Cove do not go as planned and she finds herself staying for much longer, along with her 3 legged dog Otis. Sage makes friends with Katie, another person who was led to Aspen Cove by Bea.
As Sage gets more immersed into the small town she also finds something special with Cannon Bishop, the local bar owner and her neighbour. Her first impressions of him were not so good but he has definitely improved over time. Something is growing between them and even though neither of them were looking for love it is definitely trying to find them. It seems that Bea had an exit plan to bring life back into Aspen Cove and even though she is no longer here, her ability to bring people together is still working it’s magic.
There are 13 full length novels and a bonus novella in this series so I’m thinking that the population of Aspen Cove will probably double by the time Bea’s work is done 🙂
‘This thing between us. It’s been more of a storm than the one outside. You struck me like lightning. You washed over me like rain. You rattled me to the core like thunder. I’m afraid of losing everything.’
One Hundred Reasons is the first book in the Aspen Cove Series and it follows the story of Sage and Cannon. Sage is the most caring nurse in her department. Some might say she cares a little too much. And when she loses her favorite patient, Sage quickly finds that her world has been turned upside down. She never imagined herself inheriting a bed and breakfast in a small town. Her plan is simple: go to Aspen Cove and sell the property as quickly as she can so she can return back to her life as she knows it. But, what she didn’t plan on was getting swept up in the small town charm….Cannon is man that hasn’t had any hope in a long time. He is no stranger to tragedy and has closed himself off to the world. But when Sage blows into town, he suddenly finds himself wanting to open up and hope again. With Sage around, his world seems brighter and filled with possibility. The only problem….Sage isn’t planning on staying…
Overall, I thought this book was a quick and enjoyable read. I thought it was written well and had a good pace. The characters were real and perfectly flawed. They capture your interest immediately and leave you wanting to know more about their story. I loved Cannon and Sage. Sage had the biggest heart and when she loved someone, she loved hard. And when she loses her favorite patient, it forces her to reexamine her life and figure out who she is meant to be and what she is meant to do. And meeting Cannon was just what the doctor ordered. He was her total opposite and they butted heads quite a lot. Cannon’s walls are sky high, but if anyone has a chance of breaking those walls down, it certainly is Sage.
One Hundred Reasons is exactly what I’m looking for in a sweet, small town romance. One Hundred Reasons had the perfect balance of sweet romance, with a little drama and of course some steamy moments. This is my first read by this author and I am looking forward to checking out more books from her in the future.
If you follow me on the regular then you know I love small-town romances. There is just something about them that calls to me. I like the connection between all the people in the series. So when I was asked if I’d like to try a new author I said, sure. I wasn’t going to start it right away but I’m guessing you figured out that I did.
I’m so weak!
I kinda needed a break from all the space aliens I have been reading. Those reviews are coming soon. Now back to this one. Like I mentioned this is the first time I’ve ever read of this author and it won’t be the last. In fact, I already downloaded the second book in the series to read.
I will start out by saying I love the idea of the series. Or at least how the series started. I don’t know how much Bea gifts will affect the stories to come. The heroine was given this wonderful gift and I was thrilled for her. I didn’t care for how she was treated at her job but I understood that it was needed to get her to go to her new home.
I love Cannon and feel for him and what he’s going through. The crap he has to deal with over his father’s life choices is rough to read about at times. I really felt for him. I was so happy when he finally had someone to help him deal with all the crap. Sometimes it takes someone outside the situation to deal with things that family can’t.
For the most part, the romance between Sage and Cannon runs pretty smoothly. They don’t have a ton of roadblocks in their way. I kind of like the uncomplicated romance between them. It made for a very sweet read. Now saying that doesn’t mean there isn’t any sexy time between them because there is, it just means that they together is sweet.
As a start of a series, this was a good one. I really think you’ll enjoy the characters and love when Sage gives her “Sage advice”, one of my favorite parts of the book. I also liked how she brought in someone to help Sage get through the move in the form of a friend called Katie. Her book is next so I’m looking forward to her story. Also, an abused woman was mentioned and I’m looking forward to learning more about that. Plus there is Sage’s sister. Just a thought I wonder if we’ll have her story? I’m not going look ahead, I want to find out through reading the series.
For those of us that love small-town romance you’ll really enjoy this one.
I was a bit nervous about this book because it started out with a few sad moments. It turned into much more than those moments.
Who would have thought Bea would have left such a legacy? I liked the characters. I liked the way Cannon and Sage’s relationship developed. They at least spent time talking and getting to know about each other’s lives. It was kind of nice the way Katie and Sage were able to start off as friends and support one another.
This was not only a sweet, small town romance, but it was a book about people needing people, about needing and having a purpose in life, about moving forward, and letting go of past painful issues. It is much more uplifting and happy then I expected. Love, hope, support, loyalty, trust, and kindness run rampant in Aspen Cove.
I’m looking forward to the next book in the Aspen Cove series.
This was a wonderfully written story about a person who keeps on giving beyond her death. Her bequests bring about friendships, healing and new relationships. This story focused on Canon and Sage. You will love it. The narrator was wonderful and had a smooth like whisky voice. I received a complimentary audio and this review is voluntary.
Sage has just lost her job as a geriatric nurse in Denver for caring too much for her patients. But her last one, left her a pink letter with instructions to go to Aspen Cove, Colorado. Little does she know that she will find happiness, friendship, loveand a purpose in life in this little town. Great audiobook
Audiobook Review: One Hundred Reasons (An Aspen Cove Romance, #1) by Kelly Collins (Author), Logan McAllister (Narrator)
One Hundred Reasons draws inspiration from the heartaches of life. Collins proves there is a bright side to life’s painful moments. Sage and Cannon have seen their share of tragedy. For Sage it comes with the territory. As a nurse, she gets to see how precious and unfair life can be. Cannon is still reeling from his brush with heartbreak. There is no recovering from the blow dealt his way. Until a stranger comes to Aspen Cove and touches the pieces of himself, he thought forever broken. One Hundred Reasons awakens the butterflies of the heart to the hope in your soul.
This is on my TBR. Can’t wait to read it!
I liked this sweet romance with its imperfect characters. Sage was a nurse who cared too much for her patients. So when one of them passed away she was devastated. Her reaction caused her to lose her job. But the patient, Bea, left her a B & B in the small town of Aspen Cove so off she went. Her new neighbour was a handsome but grouchy man whose violent, alcoholic father lived with him. Being the caring person she was, Sage tried to help the two men. She soon learned that wasn’t going to be easy.
Aspen Cove is a wonderful community where everyone took care of each other. Even though it was a dying town. Bea loved the town and wanted to bring it back to life so before her death, she wrote several letters to the residents hoping to give them purpose and happiness.
This is a good story about two people who learn to live for themselves, at the same time help others in a warm and caring community. I liked that it had steamy sex but wasn’t graphic. And it ended in an HEA!
Since I voted for One Hundred Reasons in Kindle Scout, I was happy to hear it was accepted for publication. And the bonus to me was that I got a copy. I enjoyed One Hundred Reasons and recommend it.
