We first met Katie Middleton in One Hundred Reasons. We also heard about Bowie Bishop and his loss when his fiancee and mom died in a car accident. He then left Aspen Cove to serve as a Ranger.
When Katie & Bowie meet Aspen Cove will never be the same. It was a pleasure to hear their story. Logan McAllister did a fantastic job bringing these two very strong people to life.
I recieved a free Audible copy of this story, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.
If I thought book one in this series, One Hundred Reasons was wonderful, this one was extraordinary.
The story centers around Katie Middleton and Bowie Bishop.
Bowie has stayed away from his hometown for almost 10 years. His HS sweetheart, and the one he was going to marry was killed in a car accident that left him not only with a scar, but also a broken man. He promised never to fall in love, left town, and joined the military . becoming an elite soldier. He is determined to keep to himself.
Katie is in town because she was one of the recipients of a “pink card” from a woman she never met. A woman who gifted her a bakery. She has faced death and now that she has been given a second chance in life, she has left behind her overprotective parents and privileged life in order to find herself and stand on her own 2 feet. She has embraced the town and is determined to experience all the items in her bucket list.
Watching these two interact and develop a relationship was touching. Their past and present are intertwined and full of surprises.
The story is a touching story that is at times heartbreaking, but also heartwarming. A story about finding oneself, about hope , love and the miracles that life has to offer. It’s also a story about a town that protects their own.
This engaging story with it’s complex characters is one that you will remember for a very long time.
Another winner by this talented author.
Audiobook Review: One Hundred Heartbeats (An Aspen Cove Romance Book 2) by Kelly Collins (Author), Logan McAllister (Narrator)
One Hundred Heartbeats feels like a kiss from the heavens. Collins knows how to bring on the heart tingles, while McAllister simply takes your breath away. Katie and Bowie are learning how to exhale after tragedy changes the course of his life and nearly costs her her’s. Katie has learned how to appreciate life in a whole new way. Determined to live every moment, she discovers that only in the heartache, can you learn the value of happiness. Sweet story laced with wisdom and the every present emotion of a Collins romance. I love this book.
I had started to fall in love with Katie in the previous book. And now we get to find out more about why she was one of the recipients of one of Bea’s bequests. Bowie started this book as a little bit of a mystery to us. We’d seen a much younger him through his brother’s eyes. Here, we get the opportunity to see the man that tragedy had shaped. The connection between Katie and Bowie is apparent from the very beginning. I loved watching the pair of them fall in love; learn how to let go of the pain, disappointments, and secrets of their pasts in order to build a future on their own terms. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
I loved this story ; the characters were realistic and the plot fast moving with a wonderful ending.
One Hundred Heartbeats (Aspen Cove #2) was a great read by Kelly Collins. Katie Middleton grew up with a serious heart defect that stopped her from really living her life. She now has a new heart and is determined to live her life to the fullest. She escaped her over protective parents and opened a bakery in Aspen Cove. She has a bucket list that she starts crossing items off of but know she will probably never cross off falling in love. Bowie Bishop left Aspen Cove for the Army after a car accident killed his high school sweetheart. Unfortunately an injury has forced him to retire and he finds himself back home. He was determined to leave until he met Katie. Just as they are starting their relationship, she discovers a secret from her past that will shake their relationship to its core. I really enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.
I have wanted to read ONE HUNDRED HEARTBEATS ever since I finished reading ONE HUNDRED REASONS, Aspen Cove Book 1. I finally returned to Aspen Cove by starting to read Book 2. We had met Katie Middleton & her new friend, Bowie Bishop, in the first book, but this one is all about their story. It turns out to be quite a story.
Katie Middleton’s life had been full of wishes for as long as she could remember. So when she got a pink envelope with the deed to a bakery inside, she packed up her stuff and moved from Dallas, Texas to Aspen Cove, Colorado. She took well to running her new bakery and loved the people of Aspen Cove. Just when she was establishing herself and felt that Aspen Cove was her new home, she met Bowie Bishop. In the five minutes they’d talked, Katie got a feel for Bowie. She’d always known that when she met “the one,” she would know it. Something inside her told her he was it. She knew what it was to hurt and maybe this was both of their time for a second chance. Deep in his shredded but healing heart, he knew she was the one, too.
Just when Katie & Bowie know for sure that their hearts will only beat for each other, a secret from their past puts a crack in the wall that might tear their love apart and shake the foundation of their relationship. You will be hoping their love will keep them together.
This book is EXCELLENT! A definite must read/listen to book! Wonderful characters and a great storyline! Narration is great also!
I listened to the audio version of this book. I thought the narration was good. The characters were easily distinguish. The narrator was male, and I thought he did a good job with the female voices.
This was the 2nd in the Aspen Cove series. I honestly thought that Bowie was going to spend his time wallowing in self pity, but he didn’t. I liked the fact that people have him advice and if he may have wanted to easily dismiss it, he actually have it some thought.
Katie was so optimistic, which was a little different then her very first appearance in One Hundred Promises. I could easily understand not only Katie’s need for independence, but her need to be independent.
Katie had a couple of secrets she withheld from Bowie. The first was not in her complete control, and the second was her decision. Things worked out for Bowie and Katie better than I thought they would. There were a couple of twists and turns, but Howie and Katie ultimately followed a path to their HEA.
I voluntarily listened to and reviewed the Audiobook received from the author.
when katie meets Bowie Bishop they feel an instanct connection. but can they find love and happines when he is heartbroken after her fiancé’s death eight years ago and Katie has a heart that isn’t hers? will a secret bring them together? The audiobook Is great
This was a cute second chance at life and love romance. There was an instant attraction between Bowie and Katie, but he was determined not to let his heart get involved again after his high school sweet heart Brandy died. As a heart replacement recipient Katie knows that life is fleeting, so she created a bucket list and takes life one day at time. She said she was fine with just a good time with Bowie, but it was apparent early on that her feelings ran deep. He was so sweet about her chest scar especially since he was riddled with scars after his military service. Doc and the residents of Aspen Cove were funny and I loved how they took Katie in as one of their own. The recitation seemed a little monotone at times, but the narrator’s inflections for some of the characters was funny.
Another Fabulous Romance in Aspen Cove! A Great Audible Listen
One Hundred Heartbeats
An Aspen Cove Romance, Book 2
By: Kelly Collins
Narrated by: Logan McAllister
It is great to be back in Aspen Cove for another fabulous story in Kelly Collins’ series. I loved the first book, which was Sage and Cannon’s story. We met Katie Middleton in their story, both she and Sage were newcomers to town, they met on their first day there and bonded. Both were left property by Bea, Sage inherited Bea’s Inn and Katie her bakery. The inheritance was a mystery to Katie but she does learn the connection. Bea was a mastermind and her plan to put life back in to the town she loved is falling in to place. Katie took advantage of her inheritance to start a new life for herself, after learning her circumstances you can not help but admire her strength, bravery and determination to succeed. Bowie is Cannon’s brother, after a heartbreak and devastating loss it was too painful for him to stay in Aspen Cove. He joined the Army and stayed away for 10 years, only to return after an injury cuts his career short. He and Katie clicked right away, he was upfront with her, letting her know he was a broken person unable and can not commit to a relationship or fall in love ever again. Bowie needed to let go of his past and allow someone in, someone who could help mend his broken heart. I thought these two were perfect for each other. I love how their story played out, there was drama, a bit of angst, some mystery, some fun moments and loving ones as well. It was great to learn why Bea chose her, it was a nice twist. Kelly Collins, thank you for another great story.
I listened to the Audible edition, Logan Mcallister continues to bring these characters and their stories to life. He is a terrific narrator and voice performer, he gives each character their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. You can hear the emotions of the character and the drama of the story in his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen
Favorite Quotes:
Sage liked her coffee laced with electricity, whereas Katie chose the heart-healthy option of decaffeinated.
She’d always considered herself a patient person, but her mom could try a saint on Sunday.
I’m okay. In fact, I’m finer than frog hair split seven ways.
Dalton’s no bad boy. He’s like Bambi with testosterone.
“I’ve been to war multiple times. I can’t imagine this is worse or different.” She wanted to tell him he was being silly, but his description was spot on. With seven kids to watch, there was no doubt there would be battles won and lost over the next three hours… Jill ran toward Bowie and threw herself into his arms. Big crocodile tears ran down her cheeks. “David tore off my Barbie’s head.” She lifted a decapitated doll to his face. Bowie’s lost expression told her this was worse than war.
My Review:
I adore Kelly Collins’s sweet and steamy stories. Her writing is always a pleasurable read for me with a good balance of emotive storytelling, humor, steam, and insightful observations. One Hundred Heartbeats was written with my favorite dual POV with deeply endearing and lovable characters. The storylines were interesting, relevant, realistic, and artfully detailed for all the senses. I smiled, smirked, my through and sighed contentedly at the sweet HEA. I will be eagerly awaiting book three of this entertaining and heartwarming series.
One Hundred Heartbeats was a beautifully emotional romance. Staged in the friendly small town of Aspen Cove I once again was charmed with how the townsfolk took care of each other in every way it counted. Katie left behind a privileged life and her overbearing parents in Dallas when she accepted a selfless gift from an unknown woman named Bea. Re-opening the bakery she now owned was the beginning of her new life. Katie charmed everyone with her kind, loving and unbiased personality in town. Enter Bowie who grew up in town and fled after he lost everything his heart held dear in a fatal accident. After nearly a decade of running away from his loss he is discharged from the Rangers due a severe injury and forced to come home to Aspen Cove. He fears every street and every corner will remind him of everything that’s been lost. He has to learn how to say goodbye to his past to have a future. Bowie is a kind guy who is convinced that love is not in the cards for him ever again. But being home starts to mend his broken heart with the help of his family and friends. Of course the feeling he has for Katie are not to be disregarded either.
The emotions and connection what are building bit-by-bit between the two is beautifully portrayed. Both characters are true to themselves without being insensitive of the feelings of others. Katie and Bowie truly are the perfect match.
This story is really romantic and made me feel the love and passion without being insensible. The writing is classy and conveyed all the emotions beautifully with the right amount of drama and sorrow.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and here is my honest review.
Another wonderful story by Kelly Collins, I have loved every one of her books and have read quite a few.
Katie and Bowie are two people with pasts they want to leave behind. Katie was sick as a young girl and needed a new heart, she wanted to get away from her parents who wouldn’t leave her side. She is left a bakery from someone she doesn’t know, so she “runs”away from home to start a new life. Bowie grew up in Aspen Cove where the bakery is and fell in love, unfortunately his fiancee was killed in a car crash, he then joined the Rangers but was given leave after he had been injured too many times.
Bowie doesn’t want to go back to his home town but visits his family, Katie doesn’t want her family to know where she is and wants to stay. When she meets Bowie at his welcome home dinner she has other pans for him, and would like to try and persuade him to stay.
Whilst there backgrounds are very different, there is a surprising twist to the story that makes them more linked that they thought.
Without giving any spoilers away, this a wonderful love story and I can only encourage anyone who loves Kelly’s books or if you are looking for a new author to read then look no further.
If this site allowed for a 10 STAR review than in my opinion this is how I would rate this story. I knew I was in for an exceptional reading experience as I read the first chapter and was captivated by Ms. Collin’s storyline and totally drawn to its main characters of Katie Middleton and Bowie Bishop. Both Katie and Bowie were physically and emotionally scarred characters. Katie has been sickly most of her life, has had a heart transplant and is being smothered by her good intentioned parents at the cost of her independence. Bowie had lost his fiancé and love of his life in a car accident 8 years ago and had left Aspen Cove, Colorado to join the Rangers never planning to return. After multiple purple hearts and a final leg injury he is home with a medical discharge and still finding it difficult to cope with his past memories. How these two met and addressed their emotional problems makes for a captivating romance. This is a beautiful love story that has it all ; impeccable writing, strong multi-dimensional characters to fall in love with, a plot with substance that keeps the reader interested in how it will end as well as twists and surprises and a last chapter that made this reader smile. It has all the elements of a really great contemporary romance with the right blend of sexual flirtation, witty banter, uncertainty and emotional drama. Many people purchase a book by storyline for that reason I don’t do detailed storyline spoilers. I feel it is unfair to the author to describe the book in detail when writing is their livelihood. In my personal opinion, this story is an outstanding read that I highly recommend.
I was given an advanced readers copy of this book by the author for my honest opinion and review. I was my pleasure to read and review.
I really enjoyed the well written storyline of this sweet read, not to mention how I adored all of the characters that just kept me turning the pages until the very last page!
Another fabulous, heart-warming story in the Aspen Cove Series. Aspen Cove is the perfect small town: it has wonderful people, beautiful scenery, quite a few amenities, and isn’t far from a bigger city. Country living with big city convenience.
Katie needed a place away from her smothering parents and Bea provided her with the perfect opportunity. It took a lot of courage to leave Texas and move to Aspen Cove. Bowie needed someone to challenge him, to prove life is still worth living. Katie gave him a reason to share his heart again. Their road was rocky, with some twists and turns, and I rooted for them to find their HEA. They both deserved happiness.
Aspen Cove is chock full of interesting, quirky, realistic characters that I can’t wait to get to know better. I am really looking forward to meeting more residents as the series unfolds.
If you are looking for a well-written story with developed characters; with heart and soul; a real page-turner; then I suggest you read One Hundred Heartbeats. This story is a standalone but you will get more enjoyment if you read One Hundred Reasons first. The first story introduces the reader to so many aspects of Aspen Cove. Knowing these things will make the second book more meaningful.
Good read. Bowie and Katie’s story has a bit of a twist. Great storyline that is easily followed. Great town with awesome people. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger.
One Hundred Heartbeats the second book in Kelly Collins Aspen Cove series was a great read. This is easily becoming one of my favorite series and I look forward to the next book.
