Kindle Scout Winner Kelly Collins welcomes you back to Aspen Cove, the tiny Colorado town where fresh starts, hope, and true love live … list as quickly as she can. The one item that she’s not sure she’ll ever check off, however, is falling in love. That is until Bowie Bishop appears.
When a car accident took his high school sweetheart, Bowie was sure he’d never love again. He disappeared from Aspen Cove to join the Army, then spent nearly ten years on active duty risking his life to save others. Now he finds himself in the last place he wants to be—back home. He’s determined to take off as soon as he can, but when a cute, sassy little blonde catches his eye, he’s not so sure he’ll be able to leave Aspen Cove.
Just when Katie knows for sure that her heart will only ever beat for Bowie, she discovers a secret from her past that will shake the foundation of their new relationship to its core. Will the truth tear them apart or will they find salvation in each other’s arms?

What a fabulous second book in the Aspen Cove series. Katie Middleton (who was also featured fairly prominently in the first book) was bequeathed the bakery in Aspen Cove, but has never known why. She did not know Bea, who left her the bakery, and she didn’t know how to bake…but she is learning. Katie who had many health issues as a child received a donor heart years ago and has finally decided to take control of her life. She does so with her “bucket list”. She does not tell her friends about her transplant as she just wants to be treated as “normal”. Bowie, brother to Cannon (also from the first book), returns to Aspen Cove to wait for his next deployment or after being injured whether the military will still want him. He left Aspen Cove after his fiancée and mother died in a horrible car accident in which he was injured. There are sparks of attraction between Bowie and Katie and she has decided that he is the “one”. So much heart wrenching emotion as Bowie struggles with his desire for Katie, but not willing to let go of his fiancées memory. Ms. Collins has a way of getting you so involved in the story and characters that they feel like family and you wish that you lived in Aspen Cove. She also adds a “twist” to the stories that may catch you off guard (it did me) that gives you a “I should have guessed that” moment. There will be a third and hopefully fourth book in the series and I will have to wait until May for the next one, darn it! – lol. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to give an honest review – loved it! (by paytonpuppy)
I have finished reading One Hundred Heartbeats twice and so far it is my favorite Aspen Cove book by Kelly Collins. This story revolves around Katie Middleton. Bea left Katie her bakery and Katie has lived a very sheltered life and was overjoyed to try this adventure. She is the type of person that looks at life positively, a glass half full person. Bowie Bishop is returning to Aspen Cove and he’s not happy about it. The town holds so many sad memories for him that he just doesn’t know how to bear returning home. One Hundred Heartbeats stands alone, however I highly recommend reading One Hundred Reasons first because the characters appear throughout both books in this series and as a reader you may become confused as to what everyone’s relationship is to each other. I am not going to give away the plot of this book other that to tell you that it’s about living life to it’s fullest and having a second chance at love. If you are a fan of Susan Mallery, Catherine Bybee or RaeAnne Thayne, you are going to love the Aspen Cove series! I am a reader that is a sucker for a HEA and One Hundred Heartbeats has moments of fun, angst, lust and love. I cannot recommend this enough.
This book follows on from One Hundred Reasons, continuing the Aspen Cove series with Bea’s bequests and letters written on pink paper. Katie inherits a bakery but has no idea who Bea is or why she has been chosen. She just knows that the gift of the bakery has been her salvation and her ticket to independence. For the first time in many years she is free to live life on her own terms without the fearful, hovering presence of her mother. Katie has a bucket list but unlike most people, her list is made up of wishes that most people take for granted, including falling in love. When Bowie rolls into town on his Harley after leaving the combat zone, she finds in him a kindred spirit. Both of them have their scars and both feel out of place in a huge crowd of people. When the reason for Bea’s bequest to Katie becomes apparent, the ground beneath their relationship shifts and they are both left feeling shaken and unsettled. It takes the wise and caring community to bring them to their senses. This book is a well written romance, with humour, deep emotions and laugh out loud moments. I also shed some tears. Katie is a survivor and she faces life head on, whilst Bowie finds healing and restoration in returning home. A delightful romance that left me feeling warm and content. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
