One Hot Texas Summer (Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge #1) by Nicole Flockton
Book 1 of the Prentice Brothers series is a nice easygoing romance story that focuses on the youngest Prentice brother, Tate, and Kelly, a local florist, as they work together on a festival in town. With Tate’s reputation in town as a ladies man and Kelly’s last relationship ending messy the two of them found a good connection together. The author did a good job with describing the chemistry between the two of them and the romance had you really wanting them to have a happily ever after. I enjoyed the story and the importance of family throughout the story. There was some spicy parts, but they didn’t “click” for me and I found myself skimming through that due to maybe somewhat awkward flow or odd wording of a few things, but I guess I read a lot of steamy romances and definitely hold the natural flow of the physical interaction to a high standard. Overall, I really liked the story and it had me feeling all warm and fuzzy, so I give it 4 stars. I look forward to the next book in the series and getting more familiar with the Prentice boys.
5 stars!
Cute story. The flow was nice, the characters were likeable. Kelly did slightly get on my nerves sometimes but I loved the story regardless. Kelly owns a flower shop and Tate runs a peach farm. Both have to work together on a festival but before that Kelly assumes Tate is just a player, I don’t know why she made that assumption, maybe it was because he bought flowers once a week, but that doesn’t scream player to me. Tate falls for the 5 years older Kelly and tries to show her his true self. I understand why she would be wary of him due to her past boyfriend being a piece of poop, but sometimes you just have to go with your gut. I felt bad for Tate working the farm by himself and having to deal with his father’s condition. Their relationship is interesting to follow but the age difference being discussed constantly really drove me nuts.I really like that this was the first story starting with the youngest brother and I’m assuming there will be stories for Tyler and Trey and I can’t wait. I recommend it to any romance lover.

One Hot Texas Summer was a nice easy to read romance story. The characters were likeable, I especially liked Tate; there was just something about him that drew me to him straight away. Kelly was a nice enough character however I just didn’t feel that connection with her. I did really like her and Tate together though – they seemed to have a genuine attraction to each other. I really liked their outlooks on life, they were both really hard working and whilst Tate had a bit of a reputation I could genuinely feel that he liked Kelly and was trying to leave that behind.
The story was well written and it had a good pace and flow to it. It’s the perfect summer evening read that you just dip in and out of and immediately get back into the story. This is the first book in the Prentice Brothers series so I am really looking forward to getting to know these brothers more as the series continues!
One Hot Texas Summer is the first novel in The Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge series by Nicole Flockton. It is my first novel by Nicole Flockton and I really enjoyed it. It was a great mix of fun and flirty, but had some serious tones in it as well.
Kelly Turner is the local florist. She owns her own shop in town and her mom helps her run it. When her friend Macy is put in charge of the Founder’s Day Festival she ends up taking on a new role and partnered with the last person she expected.
Tate Prentice is the youngest Prentice brother, but currently the one with the most on his shoulders. Taking over his fanily’s peach farm, while his passion, is not an easy job! So when his brother volunteers his family’s property for the Founder’s Day Festival he is a bit frustrated.
Can Kelly and Tate work together? Will the small town gossip pull them part? Will the stress in each others lives prevent them from building anything real? Read One Hot Texas Summer to find out!
One Hot Texas Summer (Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Book 1) by Nicole Flockton
4 of 5 Stars
I loved this heartwarming romantic story featuring florist Kelly Turner and Tate Prentice. Kelly is honoured to be asked to work on arranging the town’s Founders’ Day festival which will be held at the Prentice’s peach farm. This means that Kelly and Tate are working closely together but even though the mutual attraction is obvious, Kelly is less than impressed with Tate’s reputation as a ‘player’. Kelly has been burned before by a cheating boyfriend and so try’s to ignore the chemistry, which sizzles off the page, between them. Tate however is just concentrating on ensuring the survival of his family’s farm whilst his father recovers from a recent stroke. The longer the pair have to work alongside each other Tate hopes that Kelly will see that he is more than his reputation, but Kelly struggles to go with her instincts as she’s afraid of having her heart broken again. I loved the main characters, Kelly and Tate who were both relatable and likeable and enjoyed how their love/hate relationship developed. The secondary characters are also fascinating especially Tate’s brothers and I look forward to reading their stories in future books in Flockton’s series about the Prentice brothers. This was a feel good, light romantic story which is perfect for a summers day read.
This is a good story. I liked certain parts and others not so much. My main issue is the flow of the story. It seemed too stiff and maybe it was the tense it was written in. I just haven’t read it in a while. I feel there was also a bit too much description and not enough dialogue. That being said the story was interesting. I liked the female being a florist and the male dealing with his ill father, running the peach farm. They are different occupations that really could been expounded on. I enjoyed Kelly and Tate story. She seemed to have a few good friends to help move the story along.
I was looking forward to reading this as I have enjoyed this author’s other books. This just didn’t feel up to par. It’s a good idea.
This was a really romantic love story. I really loved the characters and how through everything that was thrown at them love grew.
Kelly moved back to her small hometown after suffering heartbreak. Since then she has opened her own business and has closed herself off to love. When she meets Tate she knows of his reputation but cant deny her attraction to him.
Tate is the play boy of the town with a different woman every week if you believe the rumours. But how many rumours are true? Is there more to Tate than meets the eye? Can Kelly allow herself to open her hear too the chance of love again?
This story follows Kelly the florist and Tate the peach farmer. Kelly was asked to work on the towns upcoming festival and was less than thrilled when she found out Tate’s farm was the location for that festival. Kelly knows all about Tate’s player reputation and is torn. She wants to get to know him, but she also does not want to get hurt again. Tate was looking forward to working with Kelly hoping she would give him a chance. But will the small-town rumor mill and gossip keep them apart?
One Hot Texas Summer (Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge #1) by Nicole Flockton was a great 5 star read.
This is Kelly and Tate’s story,I was pulled right in by the authors writing and loved these two.
Tate has taken over the responsibility of his family’s peach farm and it is the site for this year’s Founder’s Day festival. He isn’t looking forward to working with Kelly who is the florist handling the flowers for the festival.
She isn’t thrilled about working with Tate either because of his playboy ways. But as they work together she starts to see a different side to him. They both have been hurt in the past so they each had some things to work through. You can feel the chemistry from these two coming off the pages.
Overall I really enjoyed this book. I really like how independent and strong both Kelly and Tate were. They were perfect for each other, I had some LOL moments when they would banter with each other. Of course we get some ups and downs and small town drama. If you’re looking for a great read I highly suggest this book. I look forward to reading more from this author.
One Hot Texas Summer (The Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Book 1) by Nicole Flockton. I was definitely excited to read this story. Sometimes what you need is a great romance story to sweep you away. Kelly and Tate did just that for me, from page one I knew I’d love these characters. They pulled me completely into their story world and I didn’t want to leave. They have a chemistry that leaps off the pages, they are also very Easy to connect with. The storyline is well thought out and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I’ll be adding this one to my read again list for sure. I was happy to get lost in the pages with these wonderful characters and can’t wait to read more from this author. Five stars all the way and highly recommended!
I love a good romance that has classic push and pull between the two leads from page one. Flockton does a beautiful job establishing the conflict early as we follow our heroine and the possible lady’s man that is the peach farm owner’s son. I loved the setting that this story took place in and it’s charm extended from its festival to each resident in the town. I fell quickly into this story and found this book to be an extremely pleasing and easy read. If you love a good romance, you’ll truly love this work.
One thing I like about Nicole Flockton’s books is that they are short love stories. She tells the story with enough information to fall in love with her characters and the town around it. Her characters are simple people that makes you want to find out more about them. Her description paints a picture for you to see the romance starting as a bud blossoming into the rose. This story is about Kelly and Tate. Kelly is the town’s florist who has been asked to run the town’s festival. She is excited to take on this challenge. The only problem is that she has to work with Tate. He is known to be the town’s “player”. Kelly has been hurt by a serial cheater. She starts having feelings for Tate but will she give in to her feelings or stand her ground. Tate is taking care of his father who is recovering from a stroke. His brother puts his family farm in the place of holding the town’s festival. Will Kelly be able to keep focus and not let her feelings out about Tate? Will Tate be able to take care of his Dad and help host the festival? Will Tate fall for Kelly and prove that his “player” days are over? I highly recommend this book to find out the answers to these questions.
One Hot Texas Summer (Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Book 1) by Nicole Flockton. I loved this book. It was a short read but kept me turning the pages as fast as I could. Its the story of Kelly Turner who has ended up back in Sweet Ridge, Texas after a messy breakup and a horribly boring accounting job in Houston. She is so glad to be back close to her Mom and friends. She has opened a flower shop called “This Bud is for you” and its doing terrific. When one of her best friends Macy asks her to manage a Satellite site for the Town’s annual Founder’s Day Festival she can’t say no. Then she finds out its located at Prentice Peach Farms where the infamous Tate Prentice is running the Farm. She has thought a lot about Tate and even had some dreams about him but he’s known for his playboy ways so she knows he’s the last thing she needs. When the start working together Tate is infatuated with Kelly and wants to prove to her he’s not what everyone says he is. Kelly is having trouble keeping her distance from Tate and she really wants to believe he’s not the player the town says he is. Will Kelly and Tate be able to get past all the junk and make it work? Read One Hot Texas Summer to find out!
One Hot Texas Summer by Nicole Flockton is the first book in the Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge series. It is one of those books that I found easy to get into and a great way to lose yourself for a few hours in some great characters.
I enjoyed the way this book was written. I found that it was paced pretty well and the story definitely moved along in the right direction. There were times when I struggled a bit with the characters – the connection between them was there it just sometimes felt like it needed a bit of work. However for the most part I found myself engaging with them and interested in their story.
As the start of a new series I though this book did well. It wasn’t too series while also having depth about it and it has caught my interested in the other characters that I assume will form the basis of the rest of the series. This is a good start and a book I enjoyed.
One Hot Texas Summer is the first book in Nicole Flockton’s new Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge series. I had read her Man’s Best Friend series so after reading the synopsis I decided that for sure, I will dig into the new series as I thought that I knew what to expect and yes, she did absolutely not disappoint!
One Hot Texas Summer is a great summer romance that goes much deeper than it seems on the surface! Nicole gives us the youngest of the Prentice brothers, Tate and Kelly Turner who has been thinking about Tate way too much lately (even though he is a ‘younger man’, well, just by few years!!!). These are two young people who work really hard for what they have – Tate has taken over the running of the family orchard when his father had a stroke, and Kelly took over the local florist shop and turned it into a success. Both of them have their own baggage – Kelly from her previous relationships and Tate from his family dynamics after his mother died when he was just fifteen. Neither of them is ready or wants a relationship but there are sparks, oh my, are there sparks so they have to get on with the program! AND for your information! There are characters in the story that we know from the other series apparently so now I need to go and pick up the Sweet Texas Secret series but I am not complaining as I live Nicole’s style of writing and reading something heart-warming and relatable during the times we are living, it is no hardship!
Kelly owns her own florist shop in the small town of Sweet Ridge. After her last relationship went awry, she isn’t sure if that forever kind of love is for her. After a lunch with friends, she finds herself in charge of organizing and decorating a secondary location for the town’s upcoming Founder’s Day Festival. If that wasn’t enough stress, she will be working side-by-side with the man she has proclaimed to be the town playboy, Tate Prentice.
Tate is now in charge of Prentice Farms after his mother passed away and his father became ill. As the youngest of three boys, it has fallen on his shoulders to keep the farm running since the other two are living their own lives. He loves the farm, and takes his role seriously, which is why he is not looking forward to planning the Founder’s Day Festival with Kelly.
Once these two get together to start working, sparks fly…and not necessarily all good ones. While there is attraction, there is also some pent up anger issues that each are holding from other areas of their lives that bleed into their working relationship. This story is the ups and downs of building a new relationship in a small town with two individuals who are independent and hard-working.
I enjoyed this book and story was sweet. There was enough drama to be believable without being over-the-top. I enjoyed their banter and when they would call each other on their b.s.. I sat down and started this story and didn’t get up until I was done…it was that good.
This is one true love story in an unlikely pairing. The couple, the male and female, are drawn to one another but choose to deny their initial attraction. The male wants to run from his feelings of fear of being shut down and the woman is ill-trusting after a difficult breakup. The more they spend time with one another, the more their mutual attraction brings them closer together.
This is a beautiful story, perfect scenery and perfect characters to bring it altogether. I absolutely love how everything ties together, especially bringing the best characters together, beautiful descriptions of the world around the characters, steamy and seductive scenes with beautiful characters. I loved this!

One Hot Texas Summer (A Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Romance #1) by Nicole Flockton
This is the first book in A Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Romance Series and I loved it. Nicole has a way of bringing these boys to life. I was transferred into the book.
Kelly Turner, running from love, finds it at herself. She is shying away from love, but wants it. She finds herself thinking of someone she shouldn’t be. What happens when they have to work together? The quote I choose for Kelly is: “When you lashed out you hurt me a lot, Tate. I didn’t want to be around you. Again the person I cared for treated me like a worthless possession. Like I didn’t deserve to be an important part of their life. Help you through dealing with whatever happened with your dad.”
Tate Prentice, the youngest of Prentice boys, is known as a playboy. He’s done a lot of growing up since the accident, but doesn’t let anyone know. When he finds himself having to work with Kelly Turner things change. The quote I choose for Tate is: “Kelly Turner, will you do me the honor of going steady with me for the rest of our lives?”
I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Nicole has really outdone herself. I highly recommend this if you’re looking for romance and witty.
One Hot Texas Summer by Nicole Flockton. Kelly loves been a asked by of the commitment and organising the as the lead for the town festival unfortunately she’s got to do this with Tate the town player. This is a very easy romance read. Although I did not see why there was such a major issue with age. Kelly and Tate have chemistry but it seem like a bit of a love hate. It’s a very warm read and I rooted for a happy conclusion to the book. I enjoyed the sweet iddicly Town setting. A most read for rainy day
Yes, yes, yes!
Nicole Flockton is a new author, and I’m so glad that I read this book! I do love a feel-good romance read that is simple yet, heartfelt. That connects you to the characters and one where you thoroughly enjoy following their story. The characters that this author has created are real and loveable and I couldn’t wait to see there connection grow and develop as you could tell that the chemistry they would have would be undeniable. This read totally captivated from the beginning and had me turning the pages fast and never wanting this read to end. I absolutely loved this read and can’t wait to see what else this author brings us and where she takes the series next. I highly recommend this read, and can’t wait for more!
