She’s been fooled before by sweet words and hot kissesKelly Turner loves being a florist, and being asked to take the lead on the new site for the town’s festival is an honor. If only she didn’t have to work closely with the town player, Tate Prentice. After being burned once by a serial cheater, her inconvenient attraction toward Tate needs to be nipped in the bud. Tate Prentice’s focus is on … Prentice’s focus is on ensuring his father recovers fully from his stroke and making sure the family’s peach farm continues to thrive. When his brother nominates the farm to be the satellite site for the festival, he’s less than impressed. The only good thing is he’ll be working with Kelly – even though he knows she’ll never give him a second glance, not with his reputation.
The more time Kelly spends with Tate, the more she sees the man behind the reputation. Can she trust her instincts, or will her heart be broken once again?

One Hot Texas Summer (Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Book 1)
By Nicole Flockton
5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the story One Hot Texas Summer (Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Book 1) by Nicole Flockton. It is an amazing romance story that will keep you engaged from beginning to end. I didn’t want to put it down until the final page. I loved the characters of Kelly Turner and Tate Prentice. Kelly is an attractive, intelligent woman who also loves being a florist. Tate’s life revolves around his father, family, and farm. The two discover there is an attraction/connection between them. Will this lead to love and a HEA? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. I grew to care about Kelly and Tate. I couldn’t help but root for a happy ending. I loved that family is so important to Tate and Kelly. There are other additional characters with their part to play and they are just as interesting to read about as well. This is a tale that will warm and touch your heart. Don’t miss out on an outstanding romance story. I highly recommend reading it.
An easy, entertaining nighttime read
Loved this book
This was a pleasant read. Tate has a lot of responsibilities considering he is the youngest of three brothers. She is understanding and forgiving. They make the May December relationship work.
Awesome book
Didn’t hold my interest
A well written small town romance novel with excellent characters. The novel keeps you entertained and turning pages. Recommend.
This is a good yet complex book. It includes characters from other stories in the series, but you don’t need to have read the others first. I liked him, while agreeing that he needs to learn to say ‘no’ more emphatically to people. I did find him a bit of a whimp. I liked her, but I felt she was more immature than he was sometimes. Organizing a festival during harvest was just wrong by everyone … I don’t think a small town would actually do that. The age difference was not enough for her to be a cougar.
One Hot Texas Summer (The Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge) by Nicole Flockton is a wonderful love story. The characters are so life-like that you would think you are part of the novel itself. This novel is a shame me once kind of novel where the main female character guards her heart the next time. This novel is a second chance at love type, and you will be amazed at the characters and their stories. Nicole Flockton takes second chance romance to a whole new level in One Hot Texas Summer.
Dating is tough sometimes
This is a romance about a couple of people who like each other but don’t seem to really want to. Some misconceptions due to rumors and people’s attitudes makes Kelly steer clear of Tate. It doesn’t help that Tate has been in her flower shop more than once a week buying bouquets of flowers. Kelly assumes it’s for a girl, little does she know that’s not why he is frequenting her shop, it’s actually to just make someone smile and feel happy.
The romance and trials that Kelly and Tate experience make you love the characters more. This book was easy to get into and reading it just made my heart melt. When you find the right one, it really is good to open up your heart and let them in. Loved it!!
You ever want something you know you shouldn’t? Well that’s Kelly in this story. Shes attracted to Tate, the younger than her, handsome town player. Well that’s what the rumor is around town anyways. When they’re forced to work together for Founders Day, they realize they’re wrong in assuming and realize they cant deny the sparks that fly between them.
I really enjoyed this story. A woman who is independent but still wants a man to do the small acts of chivalry. A man with so much on his shoulders and doesn’t know how to say no or act when offered help and support.
These two were great and I can’t wait to read more in this series as these brothers are all so different.
When you have been burnt in the past, can you trust your heart with someone else. Kelly needs to believe that love can happen and her fairytale can end with Tate or can it?
Kelly has had her heart broken and left the big city and returned to Sweet Ridge, there she has opened a florist a job she absolutely loves. Tate has had to take on the honour of running the Peach Farm when his dad has had a stroke but with the harvest approaching and his brother volunteering the farm for the Founder’s Day parade will he have time for all he needs to do.
Kelly and Tate need to work together for the parade but what is this chemistry between them and will they give in and both give love a chance, you will have to read the story to see what happens.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I loved the story and the characters. Kelly although comes across as a independent, sassy woman there is a real vulnerability that I think we all have to just be loved for who she is and is it wrong to dream for the white picket fence and 2.5 children. Tate’s character was an eye opener from the womaniser reputation to his really fragile relationship with his brothers, to the devotion he showed to his father who could not fall in love with man.
I can’t wait to read the next book in this series and wonder who is the next brother or character to find his way through this wonderful writing.
I really enjoyed this book by Nicole Flockton. The characters were very believable and developed really well. At first I wasn’t sure what to make of Tate, but by the end of the story, he had show his true colours – I won’t reveal which way that went! I found it very interesting to see the two main characters interacting with their extended families, this helped to give them depth and made them more realistic. Highly recommended!
Don’t believe everything you hear for not all of it is true. Kelly finds that out over time as she gets to know the towns playboy, Tate Prentice. When he starts making weekly visits to her floral shop she can’t help but wonder what is being said when the flowers are given to the latest bed buddy of Tate’s. When she finds out the truth behind why he buys bouquets weekly she realized that there is more to the man behind all the gossip. Kelly is afraid to dip her toes back into the dating pool after her breakup, especially with a man five years her junior. But age is nothing but a number right?
As for Tate, he’s got a lot on his plate. He has recently taken over the day to day operations of his family’s peach farm after his father had a stroke. Kelly seems to be the only bright spot in all of the stress he is under.
Although they are attracted to one another, they try their hardest to fight their feelings. But sometimes you just can’t ignore fate.
One Hot Texas Summer (The Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Book 1) by Nicole Flockton
I am drawn to anything that takes place here in Texas period. So of course I had to read this book and I’m glad I did. I throughly enjoyed this book and already looking forward to the second book in this series.
Tate is definitely the type of man a Mama (this one included) wants her daughter to bring home. Well mannered, respectful. loves his family and willing to do anything for them even when it messes things up for him.
Kelly has most of her life in order. Successfully business and happy for the most part. She wants to find love but not willing to put herself out there after getting her heart broken.
Kelly and Tate just work well together as friends and more. They had a sweet chemistry that I enjoyed watching (reading) it develop. Can’t wait to catch up with them in the next book and to read about the next brother falling.
One Hot Texas Summer (The Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge)
by Nicole Flockton
I enjoyed reading about Kelly and Tate. Kelly who was hurt in her last relationship has moved to the small town where her mom lives and opened a flower shop. She hasn’t opened herself up for a relationship since her last one ended badly but she has found herself thinking about Tate Prentice. Tate Prentice is taking care of his family’s peach farm and his father, and now he has just been told that his brother has offered up their farm to be a satellite location for the town’s annual festival. Kelly and Tate are told they will be working together and the chemistry between them is off the charts. Can Kelly overlook their age difference, and Tate’s reputation? Can Tate let someone in to help carry the burden? This story is sweet, romantic, emotional, and has wonderful characters. I recommend this book.
This is the first book that I have read from this author and now I’m hooked. I absolutely love small town romance but this author exceeded all my expectations. This is the first book in the Prentice brothers of Sweet Ridge series and what a perfect book to start this addictive series. I could not put this book down until the end. It only took me a few hours to devour this amazing story.
Kelly Turner loves being a florist. She is so happy when she finds out that she is going to be the lead in the town’s festival for decorations. Kelly is in shock on who she has to work with, none other than the town player Tate Prentice. She is not going to fall for a play boy ever again. Kelly already had a cheater and she knows that Tate is cut from the same cloth or is he? She quickly realizes that Tate is not who she thought he was. Kelly is starting to fall for him but is he feeling the same? Will Kelly find the man she has been waiting for or will she find herself heart broken once again?
One Hot Texas Summer by Nicole Flockton was a great read! It was a pretty quick, simple read, with great characters, a great storyline, and plot. Once I started reading this novel it was hard for me to put it down. I was completely enthralled from beginning to end. I loved some of the humor I found, it was very heartfelt, and very romantic! This is the first I’ve read from this author before, but I can’t wait to read more in the future! I highly recommend this novel.
One Hot Texas Summer (Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Book 1) by Nicole Flockton was a cute romantic read. I definitely felt happy Hallmark vibes, the small town romance. I enjoyed the plot and pacing of the story. Kally and Tate were well written and I definitely felt the development as the story continued. I can’t wait for the next book!
Some old fashioned gestures will never go out of style in this modern world. One Hot Texas Summer was a sweet love story that some men need to read to get some pointers. Tate Prentice and Kelly Turner have some serious chemistry that you can feel the tingles while reading their story.
This was my first book by Nicole Flockton and I fell in love with this family of friends. I had the feeling I was missing something in the first chapter but only because I wanted to know more about Charlotte and Macy (Sweet Texas Secrets Series). I can’t wait for more of the Prentice brothers.
