A single Dad. A personal ad. What could possibly go wrong?
When Seattle journalist, Amanda McKendrick, pitches a new story about the increase of bear attacks in Sitka, her newspaper sends her north for two weeks. While there, she answers the personal ad of single dad, Luke Kingston, looking for a little no-strings-attached fun to pass the time.
But the sweet, widowered father of three—who just happens to be a smokin’ hot state trooper—turns out to be a lot more than Amanda bargained for. As the days go by, she wonders if it’ll be possible to return to Seattle without leaving her heart behind.
Shari J. Ryan – The Secret at Sunset

The Summer of Us by Melanie Moreland really will tug at your heartstrings. The young love that Linc and Sunny have with each other is so sweet and so one of a kind. I adored them so much. Linc doesn’t really have a loving life at home. He is surrounded by what money can provide but not love. He has a very controlling father and does not want Linc to be with Sunny, the girl from the other side of the tracks.
They spend the perfect summer together but Linc abruptly leaves and she is devastated and wondering what happened. 10 years go by and they see each other again. I could just feel their tension and chemistry. I adored these two together. I wish this book was longer!!!! Such a fantastic, quick love story.
One Hot Summer was a a great, cute and emotional story. This story broke my heart and mended it at the same time. It will go in my reread Melanie Moreland stack for a cute bedtime story!
As always Melanie creates something for us to love.
Lincoln and Sunny were a force to be reckoned with. It proves in this story that nothing can stop love. It will happen and find you when and wherever it is supposed to.
Love is not easy, it will always have challenges but real love will always prevail.
Review of The Summer of Us by Melanie Moreland
A summer secret romance between the downtrodden rich boy and the gentle, sweet girl from the wrong side of the tracks. The romance between these youngsters was absolutely perfect in the way it developed. 10 years later Lincoln returns and he and Sunny have a second chance. I would have loved more of the second half, I was just getting captivated by their story.
One Hot Summer is an anthology comprised of seven stories written by seven different authors. I read Single in Sitka for review purposes, but I’m itching to dive back in and read the rest because I loved Katy’s addition to this anthology and the other stories look just as good.
Melanie Moreland – The Summer of Us
Amy Briggs – The Inheritance
Caisey Quinn – Summer Seduction
Heidi McLaughlin – By The Seaside
Danielle Pearl – Love’s a Beach
Katy Regnery – Single in Sitka
Shari J. Ryan – The Secret at Sunset
Katy Regnery – Single in Sitka
Katy did not disappoint with her addition to this anthology. Single in Sitka is about a journalist, Amanda, who finds herself in Sitka, Alaska chronicling information about recent bear attacks. Amanda is only in town for two weeks, but while there she also answers a personal ad of single dad, Luke Kingston, perhaps she doesn’t have to be lonely while finding out information for her job. She isn’t exactly ready for a long term commitment again, not after her long term boyfriend cheated on her and left.
Luke didn’t really place the ad looking for a no-strings-attached-get-back-on-the-horse kind of relationship, his sister actually did. It wasn’t that kind of ad…het our minds out of the gutter… she placed in the hopes that he would find something long term, but when Luke meets Amanda they both agree the short-term relationship is the way to go. He hasn’t been on a date since his wife died two years ago and Amanda is his first step out in the dating world again.
As Amanda and Luke get to know one another, it does get a little tougher to see the short term relationship come to end, but that was their rule going into the arrangement. Neither Luke nor Amanda want to leave with a broken heart.
This is the first part to their love story, the second half will arrive in October. I’m really looking forward to seeing how their romance plays out. This is a very steamy new romance series and Katy never disappoints in writing a fantastic romance.
I read The Summer Of Us by Melanie Moreland in this anthology. I absolutely loved this story. Rumor has it she may make it into a full book. I’ll be soooooo excited if she does this. I can’t wait to read the rest of these! It’s a cute story of summer teenage love. One gets left behind and you’ll have to read it to hear the rest.
